I'm only giving 2 stars because Dr. Hill seemed fine, but his staff was atrocious. I took my dog here as a puppy for her first rabies vaccination, but she had a bad reaction and her face began to swell up. I called and they told me I could bring her back out for an injection which would remedy the situation. We were about 25 mins away and by the time we got back my poor baby was extremely swollen and in pain, whining, and wheezing when she breathed. I rushed in, puppy in arms, and was shown to a room but left to wait for another 10 minutes at which point one of the vet techs came in and said Dr. Hill was out and they didn't know how much medicine to give her. They had at this time had a mimimum of 35mins to figure this out. Approximately 10 minutes later they came back in to finally administer the shot. The vet techs were unnecessarily forceful, squeezing her swollen face, making her cry and cry, even though the shot was in her front foreleg and she wasn't struggling at all. The staff then proceeded the LAUGH and say how funny she looked with her face grotesquely swollen. I left, incensed, and have never been back. Read Less

We've been taking our pets to Dr. Hill's for the past several years and each time he has thoroughly explained what the issue is and the options at hand. Today we had to make a very difficult decision about our cat and the entire office showed compassion and empathy for what we were dealing with and for that, we are so thankful. Read Less

This place is amazing! The staff is very helpful and sincere. My two male dogs got into a fight and tore each other up pretty bad, we took them in and they were immediately seen and treated! Sooo another visit here from two weeks ago. Having a senior dog shes needed more maintain care the last couple months than her whole life 12 ys. Dr. Hill and staff has always been great he tells what my options are and has always treated my ol' girl with compassion. They help me keep her a little longer :). Read Less

I raise heritage pigs on pasture, I use Lgds to protect my herd from feral pigs. The dogs occasionally get seriously injured by the boars and Dr. Hill puts them back together again and makes our world right. Our dogs are worth their weight in gold and so is Dr Hill and his staff. Read Less

Misdiagnosed my dog and treated her for an infection she didn't have. He told me she had skin allergies, food allergies, and a bacterial ear infection that would be chronic. He was wrong about all of it. Prices are outrageous. Doesn't do adequate testing because "he knows". If you love your animals, don't take them here. Read Less

Took my older small dog in for what I thought was back pains. Dr Hill tells me she has liver abscesses and that if she was younger then he would just remove the affected area. She had to stay there for several days on an IV of antibiotics. Once we got home the next day she acted worse. Took her back to her normal vet back home and she sent us to an emergency specialty vet because she didn't feel comfortable with her bilirubin levels in her urine (which she didn't have before going to Hill) We are informed that she had severe pancreatitis, NOT liver abscesses. That Dr. Hill over medicated and was causing her liver to be in distress. He did NOT see what Dr Hill saw on Xray and told me that I am VERY glad that he didn't remove part of her liver like he wanted. He also said age is not a disease and that DR hill shouldn't have treated her any differently than a younger dog.-CRAZY EXPENSIVE- spent more money at Hill who made my dog sicker than I did at an Emergency Speciality Hospital. Very expensive. ..... my dog max went in for skin irritation and stayed overnight. I got charged $600 dollars for test and steroid shoots. I got charged 2 days boarding and 1 day hospitalization. Wow doesn't make since. Also when then weight him and and he first got on scale it said 105lb. Then lined out at 100 lbs. So we they gave me heartworm they charged me for large dog up to 100 lb and a small dog up to 25lbs. So a second pill because she said it was 105lb. Told Lady at desk that I was charged the 2 days board and 2 hospitalization and she said they are the same. So I got charged 3 days when he was there 1 day. And was told I would only be charged 1 day. He was ready to come home before lunch and she said dr. Is at lunch need to wait on him to get back. 3 hours later they call me. Don't take your animal here they are unorganized and charge u what they want. Read Less

Our poor kitty had an upper respiratory infection over this past week. Dr. Hill was really informative and sent us home with antibiotics. Unfortunately our baby was already losing the fight. We brought him back a week later because he wasn't eating well and ended up having 2 seizures. He stayed one night and most of 2 days. The staff was never once annoyed even though I called 5-6 times a day both days with questions and asking his status. I knew we wasn't doing well at all I felt the need to go see him or see if I could pick him up. My boyfriend and I went and saw he was not in good condition. The technician handed him to me and I asked about him being euthanized since it was clear he was too far gone. Right after I asked he looked at us both, he twitched his little feet, his pupils got big and he had passed away in my arms. The whole office was crying and the doctor was really upset as well. We all knew we had done everything we could to save him. They're willing to work with you and work hard for your animal. Our baby couldn't be saved but I know they tried their best. Thats why I will definitely go back with other animals in the future. It's a very homey vibe and the staff is friendly and very caring. I would suggest them to anyone. Read Less

We found an injured dog on the side of the road. We knew that this vet clinic was nearby and so called ahead explaining the situation. We told them we found the dog, that it wasn't ours, and that we wouldn't be able to pay. We were calling mostly just to see what our options were for locating the owners, since the dog had a collar on that had only the rabies license tag. We were told by the receptionist that we should bring in the dog anyway so that they could look at it. We said again that we couldn't pay. She said again to bring it in. So we did. The dog was moved inside the clinic and we were waiting in the lobby when the vet Dr. Hill came out and began yelling at us, saying that we were wasting his time bringing in an animal we couldn't afford to pay the medical bills on. He told us the second we bring it inside, we were responsible for the dog even though we brought it in to find the owners, and told them before we ever arrived we couldn't pay for its medical bills. He eventually stopped yelling and went back to help the dog. He let that dog suffer so that he could yell at us. Eventually the owners were found and arrived. We told them to take the dog to a different vet, because we knew one that would do whatever the dog needed and would work with them on payment - a vet that wouldn't leave the dog in pain so that he could come out and yell at the people who rescued it. They didn't heed our warning and left their dog in the care of this vet. We heard them later talking to the vet and the vet promising them he would be flexible with them on payment and do what was needed to help the dog. Well, we just received a call from the owners saying that Dr. Hill is now refusing to be "flexible" with the payment. Because they couldn't afford to rack up more charges with him, they asked to take their dog to a different vet. Dr. Hill won't allow them to take her to a different vet, and won't even let them pick up their dog at all until they pay him $700. He will not be flexible with their bill, and won't even accept a payment plan. I understand needing to be paid to run your business, but do not trick your customers into accepting your services by promising them you will help them and will be flexible with them, and then later hold their dog - their family member! - hostage as collateral for a payment. Shame on Oak Hills. Especially Dr. Hill. Read Less

I had a very bad experience with Dr. Hill... he over medicated my dog and if I had done what he suggested, it would have killed his liver. I would not recommend him. Hopefully he has gotten better now. Read Less

Dr. Hill and his staff took great care of our sweet baby, Mika. She had to have emergency surgery and unfortunately didn't make it out of the anesthesia. Dr. Hill and his staff went above and beyond to make us feel better. I wouldn't have wanted my baby to be in anybody else hands. My husband and I feel blessed that Dr. Hill gave us the chance to save our angel. It has been almost 2 weeks since we lost Mika and today we received a beautiful card in the mail. I have called him after hours with concerns about our little ones and he has always been more than happy to ease my fears and give me sound advice to get me through whatever the situation may be. Love itI have been using Oak Hills for over 7 years now. I live in San Antonio, but had a friend tell me about Dr. Hill. This was the best find for my pets ever. I have taken both cats and my Golden /Choy mix to him. If you want a Vet who is willing to take that extra time explaining everything to you look not further. I hate to say we lost our puppy this past spring at the age of 16, and I could have not imagined someone who was as understanding, sincere, caring and compassionate as Dr. Hill and his staff. They have always been so gentle and professional, but at this point having had to say good bye to my best friend I felt as if they all felt my pain. I feel as though I had a true ""God encounter experience"" today. It was so strong I feel compelled to share it with my community. For two weeks I have been fighting a losing battle against glaucoma in the eyes of my 13 year old faithful Black Labrador, Sandy. I needed immediate answers now as to the disposition of my beloved pet - remove her eyes, leaving her totally blind vs euthanesia. Dr. Hills first concern was for the comfort of my dog. Upon a thorough examination he determined that her body was rejecting all her prior medications and she had developed ""entropian"", a condition is which the eyelids sag, turn in and cut on the corneas - very painful. Her eyes were full of blood and blood was draining from her nose. The full geriatric work up included blood, EKG, stool specimen revealing a parasitic infestation, severe anemia, and a bacterial infection.He quickly developed a completely new, challenging and intensive treatment program. The rapid turn around in her comfort level and behavior was in truth my ""God encounter moment."" A miraculous change in her in 12 hours and upon her follow up 24 hours later, he was pleased as well to see how rapidly she was responding to the new treatment and that her eyes wouldn't have to be surgically removed. I went immediately to my church and thanked God for what had been done for us. I also have a chocolate Lab who sustained a close-range gun-shot wound to her left ear and face that required emergency surgery. She never has been able to mind her business and riled up dogs on an adjoining ranch - this time paying a very high price. Dr. Hill saw her just a quickly as I could get her there and performed needed surgery in a timely fashion. Her prognosis is excellent. Again, I thank God for Dr. Hill and his staff. What can I say of this tremendous diagnostician and surgeon? Dr. Hill and his staff have done so much for my extended family. In conclusion I ask, "" Do the people of Wilson and surrounding counties truly realize what is available to us on a 24/7, 365 day per year basis?""
