I've had a great deal of rescues, this guy is the best at treating animals and keeping them alive and getting them better. Whiny humans, like many of us (probably not so much). He saved me 3k this year another vet wanted to charge me. I came to him for a surgery the dog didn't need. I bring him all my hard to treat cases just because it's a long drive; however, I have a vet in town who will pray with you and love on you and your pet, misdiagnose them and be with you when she puts them down. This guy saves animals lives, lengthens their lives, and makes them healthy. When I'm looking at a very sick pet, I want Dr House, not warm fuzzy Dr. Death who has no idea what they are doing (he's much friendlier than House).***I first found this vet in 2007 right before I left for NYC and have now returned in 2016. I had been to vets for two years trying to get a diagnosis for my miniature schnauzer, Suzie. She had ghastly breath and was hand shy if you scratched her beneath the chin. I had her teeth cleaned every six months and her teeth looked great. I was repeatedly told by 7 different vets she was hand shy because she was a rescue. Except she was only hand shy if I touched her physically; I talked to trainers ad nauseam and found this not to be true.I tried this vet at Ridglea West.Gave him the same spiel. He said, "Let's take X-Rays. Sometimes it can look normal from the gum line, but be unhealthy below."Numerous abscessed teeth. I had been feeding my dog hard dog food and she had been eating it in excruciating pain for a year and a half, because no other vet thought to take an X-Ray!He removed numerous teeth and she was fine.I also bought a red-footed tortoise shortly before my move to NYC. I didn't know he was sick when I bought him, but he had an upper respiratory infection. It was touch and go and I had to give him injections. But the vet managed to save my baby 200.00 tortoise who was a gift to my wife and we had just grown attached too. He's still doing great.During my seven years in NYC, Suzie had to have a surgery that was emergent. It was 4K in NYC, and I never spared expense on any of my dogs if they could be saved and lead a comfortable healthy life after; however, this vet was as good as the high end vets in NYC. I called their office to find out how much the surgery was in Texas. They said it was expensive...1,200.So, my wife got the vacay she wanted to visit family, my dog got the surgery she needed all for less than for 4K, and the surgery went without a hitch (as I knew it would). When I returned to Texas 7 years later I was in an outlying region and Fort Worth was a trek. I had to new rescues. My other two had succumbed to kidney failure and cancer (after beating it twice). The local vet recommended having a molar removed and the anal sacks of one of my dogs, Houndini. 3k in surgery.First of all, I was only going to let one vet do dental work (Ridglea West) on my dog and get a second opinion on the anal gland surgery.I went to Riglea West even though it was a drive, but I wasn't feeling the expertise I got in NYC or at Riglea West.Turns out, my dog doesn't need it's tooth removed, and an anal sack surgery could be catastrophic even for a young healthy dog like mine even dangerous!People complain this vet isn't warm and fuzzy.Eh-hem.My first vet in the local town I live in is very warm and fuzzy. They are very Christian and advertise by it. They will even pray with you. Trouble is they misdiagnose, misunderstand, and they are not very good IMHO. But you can get all the warm fuzzies you want as they put your dog down.Second vet I went to see I like; however, he would have cost me money in unnecessary surgeries and didn't warn me of the dangers of the surgeries he wanted to perform, but he's a really affable guy.Or you can go to this really great vet. Think of him as Dr. House. You want your pet to live? Yes, he will tell you if your pet is overweight and how you should better take care of it, because pets that are not overweight live two years longer. (This should be a bonus.)So I can go see happy, fun, great, personable vets that will take my money or kill my pet and pray with me and make me feel great.Or I can go to the one that will keep my pet healthy, keep my pocket book healthy, and tell me how to better take care of my pet. It's your choice.Happy fun vet with a pet that could die young or have unnecessary surgeries and/or pray with you, you can find those anywhere.I'll take this one that is as competent as any vet in the AMC (top Animal Hospital in NYC where people come from states around to be seen by any of them to keep their pet alive). By they way, they aren't snugly either and they are 10x the price.I love my pet, more than my ego stroked. Read Less
