My vet for years recently retired and since then, have had the opportunity of working with five different vets before coming here. While I liked them all okay, it feels like I've found the perfect fit here. The staff overall is super, and in my interaction with Dr. Dosier, I couldn't have been more impressed. She's obviously intent on listening closely and not only was she highly knowledgeable as to the latest & greatest drugs on the market, she showed incredible kindness and professionalism by going out of her way to track down a nearby clinic that had the specific drug she thought my dog needed when they were out of it at her clinic. (I've also seen the clinic's associate vet, Dr Warren, and found her to be the same way: very caring as well as highly skilled.) If you're looking for a knowledgable and compassionate vet--and don't need to see that vet in some fancy-dancy show place of an office--you need to check these folks out. (One of the places I went to literally had stain glass. Everybody of course gets to deck out there place the way they want to--but who do you think is paying for that?)Oh--one more thing: they don't take appointments but take pets on a first come, first served basis. When we found a sick kitty we brought it here, she had a horrible URI and only weighed about a pound. We got a check up for her, a shot, meds, and EVEN kitty milk/food recipe from the Dr. There! We have been back several times for check ups and to have our newest kitty friend checked out as well. They are always so nice. Miss Tina is awesome and George is pretty great. My only issue was that the consultation rooms were paper thin, so you could hear everything that was going on inside the rooms.So, I heard the following event happen:Lady brings in stray animal. Doesn't know what to do with it. Can't go indoors because it fights with her other pets. Vet advises to take the animal to the humane society "so that the responsibility doesn't fall on you." Her daughter soon comes out crying. Time passes, she comes out with no pet. Front desk says she's sorry about what happened, etc. Lady responds "it feels like it was a good deed, but it doesn't."So if the vet clinic can clear up this situation where they treated an animal like a lamp that can be easily dumped off and disposed of, that'd be great. Also, their medicines are expensive. I've gotten the same $50 antibiotic medication they gave me for $20-30 elsewhere. Read Less

These guys are great! I have been taking all my pets to them for years! I have a very difficult large dog and they are so patient with him. The pricing is on par with other vets but they are open on Saturday mornings! Read Less

This clinic is a blessing. I was having the worst experience with an animal I have ever had (the approximately three-year-old lab mix I found in Ryan Place had horrible complications with a neuter from a DIFFERENT low-cost clinic NOT Southside). Basically, the dog's scrotum fell off and was hanging by infected yellow strings of tissue, and I could not get an appointment anywhere. I finally found Southside Vet Clinic and took him there in an Ace bandage wrapped up like underwear. They do not require an appointment, so I was quite relieved to get in on short notice (Monday morning at 8:00). I was so stressed out and hurting for the poor dog that I was desperate for some help, and it came in the form of Tina (sp) who worked the front desk that day. She got me in almost immediately and calmed me down while I waited. Once in, the wonderful techs/assistants helped me control him after removing his bandages. He was in so much pain; he was getting violent. They finally sedated him and got him checked in. After only a few days there, he came home in much better spirits and condition. Kristina (sp) called me several times during his stay to keep me updated and assuage my concerns. I am so grateful to everyone there who helped me through that horrible morning and got Jo-Jo back to the sweet, energetic dog I met initially. :) Read Less

Caring, Friendly and Affordable!!! I live in NRH and have been taking my dogs to a Vet near our home for 10+ years and recently was quoted an outrageous price to have a tooth pulled from my 4 pound dog, which caused me to look around for a more affordable Veterinarian. I found Southside Veterinary Clinic through a friend and she told me, it is not the Four Seasons, but they will take great care of your dog. Upon arriving, I was given a warm welcome, without any wait we were taken to an exam room and the Vet and her assistants made me and my tiny dog feel at ease. They all truly cared about my pet and they did not treat me like a neglectful dog owner because my dog had a problem. They took care of my dogs dental needs at half of the cost of my, now former Vet and my little dog is doing great!! The clinic was clean, the staff was all attentive and you can tell they truly love animals and people too!! I will make the 30 minute drive without hesitation to know my pets will be in there loving care.Read Less

Save yourself some time and stop searching for a vet! Dr. Mehaffey and staff are fantastic at Southside Vetinary Clinic! They are incredibly kind and sweet toward the animals and their owners, as well as very knowledgeable, gentle, and thorough in the exam. The location and outside of the building doesn't seem very nice, but the inside is very nice, clean, warm, and welcoming. From my research, their pricing is average comparative to other vets, but the service is great. I felt like family during my visit. I highly recommend a visit! Read Less

This vet was recommended to me by my next door neighbor and I am so glad that we used them. Dr. Dozier was very kind and thorough with our pet. We had to put our 18 year old cat to sleep and they made the experience as easy as something like that could be. We even received a card in the mail a few days later expressing their condolences. They take walk in appointments all day except from 1pm to 3pm. The prices are reasonable. The office staff and techs are very pleasant. I will be returning to them. Read Less

Found this place during a kitty emergency (UTI) and we didn't yet have an established vet.  They stayed open a little late because I called them 5 minutes before closing, and saw my cat.  They didn't rush me at all and gave her a thorough exam and medication.  While I wouldn't say they are inexpensive, they didn't rob me blind either.  Every other time I have come in, they are kind, take their time, and always tell me to feel free to call later if I have any questions - and this is not just the vet but his techs as well.  They truly seem to all love animals.  I know you'd think that would be universal in vets but sadly I haven't found that to be the case.
