I would give Banfield zero stars if i could. My husband and I have been taking our two Schnauzers to Banfield for their vet visits and shots for some time. During one of the appointments the vet determined that our male dog needed to have 4 teeth extracted due to decay. We were given an estimate of $450. We immediately scheduled the appointment and dropped our dog off for the procedure with Dr. Wilcox. While the procedure was ongoing my husband received a phone call that additional work will be required to extract 10 teeth at a higher cost. At that point our boy was under sedation, his temperature was dropping and time mattered. My husband was in the middle of his work appointment and he felt anxious and concerned about our little boy. He felt that he had no choice but to agree to the work as not to prolong the already painful procedure. When he went to pick our boy up he was laying on a heating pad, visibly shaken and ready to be taken home. We were told that we owed $1,200 for the visit (tripple the original estimate). We were both in shock. The national average for a procedure of this nature costs between $400 to $800. How can a place we trusted for years take advantage of their customers? I feel very upset about it. We love our dogs very much. They are part of our family and we would do anything for them. My husband argued with the staff but they wouldn't budge. They promised to look into waiving fees for future vet visits. Of course as soon as we paid the $1,200 no one is willing to do anything for us. The business practices at Banfield are unethical and wrong. On a separate occasion we took our female dog in to have her paw checked. The vet prescribed pain killers (25mg). Our dog hasn’t been feeling well at all and we decided to take her to another vet. Just to find out that the actual pills in the bottle Banfield sent us home with were triple the dosage. Banfield could have killed our dog and now we will need to pay for blood work to get her liver checked. I’m disgusted with the way Banfield runs their business and I will never bring our dogs back to this horrible place. Read Less

Check-up turns into ruptured anal gland and multiple vet visits that ultimately lead to finding another vet. The only reason this review is not one star is because a vet tech made certain that all costs associated with the follow-up procedure we ended up having to complete was covered. However, we are never going back to Banfield. This is what happened: We took our dog in for a routine check-up. We got her up-to-date on shots, had blood work, and tests all came back fine. During the exam the vet internally expressed the anal gland. We took our dog home and the next morning we woke up to blood on her bed. We immediately took our dog back to Banfield. They examined the situation to find out that the anal gland had been ruptured. We then had to bring her back the next morning and leave her all day for a procedure to mend the open wound that was created. We collected her in the afternoon, and as I said, they did honor covering all costs. It was the right thing to do. This is the problem that is leading us to abandon Banfield and PetSmart. Currently our dog is still healing, but the wound is turning dark. This could be normal for all we know, but we don't know. My wife called Banfield back and they said we would have to make an appointment and they are booked two weeks out. I called back because that's absolutely not acceptable for this scenario. They told me the same thing. They are completely booked and won't be able to see our dog for at least two weeks. This is totally unacceptable. I love the convenience and that Banfield is located near my parents as well, where our dog sometimes stays, but this high-volume pet care is just not worth it when your pet actually needs attention (especially when it's caused by the vet). My dogs have been on the Banfield wellness plan since 2009. They are older now and there are some medical events starting to happen. Banfield is no longer a place we trust we can get care in a timely manner now that we actually need care in their old age. If you just want to drop your dogs off once a year and get blood work and shots, it is certainly convenient. However, the moment your pet is starting to need actual care, do the right thing and find a vet who is not associated with a volume-driven care model. Get them the proper attention that they need. Business model makes NO SENSE! They have no standing appointments for emergency situations. This has happened before I call for an emergency for my dog and they can't get her in for an entire week. What? The entire core business of a vet is to treat dogs in an emergency situation, the wellness checks aren't even the main reason people go to vets. Every vet I've gone to as standing appointments for emergencies, I mean every single one and I've lived in three states. Where's the compassion for our animals? Why not try to squeeze them in? She didn't even offer to call other locations on my behalf to see if we could get my dog in, they put in zero effort and showed no empathy. These are not the type of people I expect to be answering phones at a vet. They should be going out of their way to make the customer happy even if you can't come up with a solution. Very unprofessional to say the least. The Frisco location refused to give me to a manager stating they weren't in and had no idea when they would be. Oh really? Every company I've worked for you know when your manager or supervisor will be in. I then call the Allen location and explain this today, so whomever I spoke to at 9:34 AM Central needs to be talked to. All she said when I mentioned this was legally we don't have to do that. What? Did she not hear what I said? Why not show some compassion, as I completely understand ma'm and here's our corporate number.I sure hope your dog gets better, I mean, nope she was cold and threw out legal jargon. I was blown away she defends them saying well legally we don't have to. Legally you don't have to do a lot of things but that's not the point of my call, I'm calling for legitimate feedback and to make a complaint. This is good feedback for the Banfield Org to look into. Personally if I owned a business I'd take every suggestion and complaint to heart to improve. If you can't do that you have no business being in the pet industry, period. When you're dealing with people and their pets this is not the way to treat your customers. Why not say wow that's great feedback and I'll write this down to share with the management team? I guess she couldn't be bothered. This person needs more customer service training & not someone I'd want representing my company. People read reviews and ask for referrals that's just the fact of life. I''m surprised Banfield hasn't answered a single negative review on google. I challenge you to look at other businesses. You'll see owners tapping in a and apologizing, asking them to call to give them another shot or come up w a solution. The fact they haven't to me speaks volumes. They simply DON'T CARE. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Buyer beware. Great place for dental cleanings and wellness checks but horrible for everyday dog emergencies which makes this place worthless. Read Less

One of my dogs got into some Halloween chocolate. As a member of their Wellness Plan and long time customer of the Banfield Hospitals, I tried to bring him immediately to this hospital. However, I was told they could not see my dog's emergency due to a booked schedule. Now, my other dog appears to have an abnormal swelling, irritation, and discoloration at the base of penis - and again, I was told they have no room on the schedule to see him. I understand that other animals scheduled for preventative services should receive their care; but if you will not accommodate me when my dogs are ill, or potentially going to die; that tells me you don't care and you do not deserve my business. After moving into the area, this is now my closest Banfield and since I can never use them in times of need, I will be terminating my wellness plans when they expire. Read Less

After spending thousands of dollars, today, the staff declined taking care of him with no explanations at first because he was considered a drop off and said that they can't him in. The staff turned around and took 2 drop offs. I purposely made sure to stick around and listen to the owner just to make sure it was not an appointment!!! ... Sure thing t was not. I've been to this Banfield twice. The first time was chock-full of idiots. I went in for a shot for my pup, bought more Trifexis, and catch up on overdue monthly doggie care fees since we had to get a new card. I had to scan my card, no kidding, 7 times. They made me pay for my three different issues four times - and I can't fathom why outside of them forgetting each time because the McKinney Banfield does it in one nice swipe - and the other three were because a machine was broken and they don't communicate with each other. Based on this, I would've given them 1 star. They wasted and hour and a half of my time. The second time was awesome-sauce. I am giving their stars based on the second time because that is how much I loved it. My pup was limping on her front left paw. We panicked because we thought she broke it during a run the day before.  I came in asking for an x-ray and they were able to make a 'walk-in appointment' due to our panic. I knew we would have to wait a while - and we did but I don't care because I am a walk-in after all. One of the techs, Chris, explained to me that because of her size and how she is walking, it is unlikely that it's broken. He went into GREAT detail and showed me the price differences. The doctor (Dr. Schuomel?) was super booked with another client, but he came in apologizing for the wait and said he'd like to do a cursory check before the full exam. He ended up doing the full exam because he agreed that he doesn't think it's broken, but I'm more than welcome to get an x-ray anyway. He was very kind and patient with my panicky akita. I LOVE that:1. They took the time to be patient even though they were very busy.2. Chris kept coming in to apologize for the wait, unprompted.3. They suggested waiting on the x-ray instead of getting more money from me.When you go, ask for these two! Otherwise, you're on your own. Read Less

I was a little nervous about trying this location since the reviews seem to be very negative about the customer service. However, the guy at the front was super nice and friendly, the technician that assisted us in the exam room was very sweet and explained things very well. My boyfriend and I were very pleased with how our visit went & Dr Rodgers was very sweet and did my new puppys exam in the room. Of course Kai took his vaccine like a champ & we are excited to continue our business with this location, thanks guys! Read Less

When I asked to speak to the manager (Audrey), she was a no show. But walked right out to the counter right after I started heading outside.... I did walk back inside pretty livid wanting an explanation. At first she ignored me and then kept saying we are doing everything we could (lies! You have not done anything but take in other dogs) .... NEVER STEPPING FOOT IN THAT PLACE AGAIN!! Read Less

Read Less
