Dr. Buffington , Dr.. Cavazos and the entire staff at Stonebrook Veterinary Clinic are sensitive and caring and provide the very best care for my furry family members. One of my dogs goes to the clinic often since he has a chronic condition and he treats his visits like a filed trip. He gets love and attention along with excellent care. Day 2 after our move to Frisco and our sweet dog had a horrible seizure! It was Saturday and very few bets were open much less willing to take on a new dog, but Stonebrook told us to come right away and they treated her as if she was their own. My dog was sick and they were able to get me in for a same day appointment on Saturday. (Plus, I am a new patient) After their initial look, the Dr broke down all my options and gave me a full list of costs, with no obligation. We looked at what was most important and took out costs that could be delayed and came up with a final figure that I could pay at the time. I took my little sick Chihuahua in yesterday and I was very impressed with Dr. Buffington and the staff. They really took their time and I felt like they truly cared about my little fur baby. She's feeling better and back to her sassy self. My bulldog also went bananas for the treats they gave me a sample of, plus they're good for weight control. Today the family dog went to go get groomed. At time of pick up he didn't seem to act normal. He was unable to jump into the car like normal. Once he was home he was shaking so bad he couldn't stand up, he fell down. He couldn't even go to the bathroom on his own. I called up to see if something had happened like he fell off table or something, but apparently everything went normal. I have not been satisfied with previous visits as they never can seem to listen to what I say or do what we asked. We will no longer be using this Clinic/grooming facility. Read Less

This is literally the worst vet clinic I have ever been to. The woman we saw spent about 10 minutes with my dog, spoke as though I had gone to vet school and knew everything, and then rushed out of the room. She was very cold and not very comforting. The "treatment plan" she came up with was $500 (outrageous!), and then put some sort of guilt trip on me when I said that was a little more than I could afford. After I left there, I literally cried in my car because of the horrible service I received. I have heard that Dr. Buffington is wonderful, but the woman vet there is absolutely horrendous. Read Less

When I adopted my pup a little over a year ago, I came across Stonebrook Veterinary when searching through Google and Yelp reviews. After seeing all of the positive feedback, I decided to take her there and check it out. From the first visit, I was impressed with not only the doctors, but their assistants and front office staff as well. As other posters have mentioned, they tend to get busy so it's best to make an appointment. Although when my dog had an unexpected medical emergency, they were very quick to get her in and make sure she was taken care of. The only thing I can't really speak to is the grooming services they offer because I do most of that at home. 5 stars, highly recommended! Read Less

I can't say enough about the compassion and service I received.  Unfortunately, my first visit to Stonebrook turned out to have to have my Chihuahua put down.  The staff and doctor were beyond what I expected.  They even took the time to send me a sympathy card signed from the staff and provide my Chihuahua's foot print as a memento. We have been patients at Stonebrook Vet for over 19 years. I first walked in in 1995 with my new adopted mixed terrier named Tanner and then added his sister Zoey in 2011. Dr Buffington and his amazing staff carried us through illnesses, surgeries, groomings, knee replacements, X-rays etc and finally they put Tanner down at age 17 with me and my children in the room and tears were shed by all of us. Weeks later, they gave me a special blanket with Tanner's name and the Rainbow Bridge poem which brought us all to tears again. A year later, Dr Buffington helped me decide the best new addition for Zoey and we adopted her brother Leo in late 2014 and we are still happy patients today. I would not trust my dogs.. who are my 4 legged children.. to anyone else. This is an office with heart and I feel so grateful to have them caring for my family pets with me.Read Less

The staff was very rude and hateful especially the older heavyset woman with gray hair, I'm not positive her name. I think it may be Jamie. Actually I'm not even sure what her role is there. She doesn't know the first thing about taking care of animals, I don't believe I would leave my pet turtle was her. And don't bother bringing anything with your animal when you're boarding. I had a friend who worked there a while back and she told me that when clients bring in bedding or blankets or anything to make their pets feel comfortable they don't even give it to them. They tell the client that they are going to and then it gets tucked away in a box while our loving pets lay on a single straggly towel, if they're lucky. They have a 2 to 3 Minute walk at the most twice a day. The only pleasant experience I had at this place was with Dr. Buffington, he was very friendly and professional. Other than that I would definitely not ever recommend this place until they get it together and replace some of the staff members and clean up the kennel. And I definitely wouldn't would NOT have my pet groomed there I could hear the groomer that works in the back screaming at the dog while she was trying to get him to cooperate while bathing. You could hear her wrestling with him the dog was whining and crying out in pain the entire time and she continued to scream at him rather than console him. My 2 rescue dogs have seen Dr Buffington for over three years. The staff is always friendly and professional. They take time to explain, answer questions and address my concerns. They accommodated my one "emergency" by getting me an appointment within hours of my call. I have used Stonebrook Vet Clinic for several years.  The staff are phenomenal!  They are very friendly, efficient and accommodating.  Dr. Buffington is very knowledgeable and takes time to explain health concerns of your pet.  In fact the entire team and associates are top knotch!  I have used their grooming and boarding services as well & I have always been very pleased.  I highly recommend to use this office for all of your pet healthcare and other needs! This is a review for the grooming not the Vet. My husband took our border collie mix to get a haircut from here. We did want him to get a shave because his hair was way too long but what I didn't expect was for my dog to come back to me with a hack job. My cat, Urlacher, was diagnosed with renal kidney failure in November, 2013. She was in very bad shape and was not expected to last through the weekend. With Stonebrook Veterinary Clinic's help, she has been a very healthy and happy kitty for the past 3+ years. A little over two years ago, my wife and I were blessed to get Addison Marie (tricolored King Charles Cavalier). Addi was just 7 weeks when we picked her up from the breeder. After two days at home, she became sick. My wife called Dr. Buffington's office and was instructed to bring Addi in immediately. Long story short, Addi contracted Parvovirus Disease. Dr. Buffington indicated Addi was the youngest and smallest puppy he ever had/seen with the Parvovirus disease. Dr. Buffington remained optimistic, treating Addi with all the medicines she could handle. Needless to say Addison today is as healthy and affectionate as her bigger sister Gracie. THIS DOCTOR IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. EVERY TIME I BRING MY DOG IN, THE BILL IS AT LEAST $500. EVEN FOR AN EAR INFECTION, THEY INSISTED ON TESTING FOR EVERYTHING NONE TO MAN. THEY HAVE DEVISED A SYSTEM TO MAKE THE PET OWNER FEEL LIKE A BED PERSON IF THEY REFUSE ANY OF THE TESTS. "IF YOU REALLY LOVED YOUR DOG YOU WOULD WANT THEM TO BE TESTED." WELL I DO LOVE MY DOG, BUT I DO NOT APPRECIATE GETTING FLEECED. Read Less

I was referred to Stonebrook Veterinary Clinic by a family vet in another state. I brought my four month old kitten in for conjunctivitis and fever. Dr. Carvazos very nice and very knowledgable about cats. I thought we had found a really great place that understood cats... that is until the tech came in to assist with a sanitary clip!It became the most heart wrenching and worst vet visit ever... the tech squeezed and pinched the scruff of my kitten so hard he cried, scratched and hissed. I guess he must have scratched her because she dangled him off the table by his scruff as she continued to squeeze his skin, pulling his face back so tight that I could see his gums and teeth as he cried. I was in total shock and when I later said not to be so rough with him she got mad, slammed a box on the counter and walked out. I was in tears and felt so bad for my scared and sick kitten! The vet was remorseful but never made the tech come in to apologize even though she said she owed that to me. I am sorry my kitten was scared and scratched the tech trying to get away, but if you weren't pinching his scruff so hard, pulling his cheeks back so tight while he cried, he may not have been so upset and scratched! He was sick with 103.2 temp, are you cooperative when you are sick? Where is your compassion and patience? In 13.5 years we have owned a cat, I have never had a tech grip my cat so hard and be so abusive as she was with this little kitten! I regret asking for a sanitary clip for him now, it was supposed to help him stay clean when pottying, not cause him to be abused in the process and traumatized!I could never trust leaving him there for a procedure without me or boarding him because I would be fearful he would be abused. This was devastating to see after my other 13.5 year old cat recently passed away due to health problems and this little guy was abandoned and we just rescued him two weeks ago! He is very sweet and a good little cat, he was just sick and scared! I will NEVER take him back there!!! The vet was great, but the tech needs to take some anger management classes or find a new profession away from sick little animals! Read Less

We just moved here so when the need of a vet came up I chose Stonebrook. I was not disappointed and let me say, our vet back home was a personal friend so they had a high bar to meet. What is most impressive is that from the doctor to every staff member, I felt like they actually cared about my pet. Believe it or not, not all vets share that quality. My one issue is that they will not write a script for your dogs medications. You have to go to a website they provide and order your pets meds from this website. Now, if you want a different brand than the doc suggests they will approve it but I prefer to go shop prices on pet meds so I would have appreciated that flexibility. Other than that I will continue to come here for our pets healthcare. Read Less

My niece recommended Dr. Buffington to me when I first moved here in late 2008. That is where she and her husband took their three cats and they were always pleased. I always had cats before and now have both. Dr. Buffington always takes as much time as is necessary to explain things to me and you can ask him a million questions, but you will never feel rushed to understand what is going on with your animal. I have found Dr. B. and his staff always very patient and compassionate. Some days are more hectic than others and perhaps that is where the less than stellar reviews come from. We were recommended to this clinic and we started off great. Recently though when our dog has had minor issues they have charged us for every penny they could. Early on our dog had an infection and we were given pills, they worked but 2 weeks later it was back. So we took him in, got the same pills for longer. Of course were were charged for both visits at full cost plus the price of all the medicine. Even when they wanted to see him for a follow up just to check his ears and see how he was doing, again charged for an office visit and doctor exam when all they did was swab an ear. The latest is they will not write us a perscription for heart worm pills that my dog needs. They want us to purchase through their pharmacy at a higher price and won't write or authorize a perscription. This is the last straw as they are withholding medication that my dog needs just because they want to make a few extra bucks. This makes me feel they don't care about us or our dog so we are going to a new vet. The doctor is competent but their service and pricing is sub par. Would recommend making sure you know what your getting charged before you go in for anything Read Less

Please be cautious when using this vet. I have used this vet for my 3 animals for a few years – they were always terrified to go however I thought it was them being babies – I do baby my animals. But I adopted a 3 year old, abused dog last year and started taking her to this vet. She was ok at first to go, actually she didn’t seem to mind the first two times. Then she developed a slight fear which the last grooming appointment turned into an ugly meeting. Literally my new dog that was once abused, but now loved so much, feared for her life as we walked in the door. The vet tech pulled her down the hallway which broke my heart as she cried all the way down but they told me don’t worry she will be fine once we get back there, literally telling me to leave. My day was horrible because I saw my poor dog so scared; after work I picked her up which she happily ran out the door. When I got her home I noticed a rug burn - twice the size of a quarter and 4 lines on her belly which were about an inch and a half. I called and spoke to the supervisor which gave me no information on how this could have happen. I am upset they didn’t even warn me or put anything on the wound. Be careful with your animals. I am a new client here, and one that is picky about veterinarians. Doctor Buffington is great. He took the time to do some research about my pet's problems before my appointment, so that he was prepared when I got there. We spoke at length about different treatment options, and the diagnosis. When tests and analysis were ordered, I felt like I understood the reasoning behind it and agreed with its necessity. I am happy with the diagnosis, and my pet seems to be feeling better after the treatment. Overall I am very happy with Dr. Buffington and his office. Read Less

The overall experience was wonderful! Moving from a small town in Louisiana finding a vet was very diffucult here in the Dallas Area. Someone refrred Dr. Buffington, from the moment I arrived to the time I left. I felt as though I had know them forever! They were very concern, friendly and took there time to get to know us.
