My dog does not get along well with other dogs and would appreciate being able to call ahead before bringing her in. I’ve been going there for almost ten years. I’ve never had any issues with them and the staff has always been caring and helpful. I had recently adopted a puppy from the garland animal shelter and she had gotten spayed at the shelter. I picked her up from the shelter and her stomach was bleeding profusely and her gums were white. The shelter did a horrible job caring for her so I rushed her over to Dr. Pipes and on my way I called to let them know what’s happened and as soon as I got there, they immediately prioritized me and my baby and got her stabilized and took wonderful care of her that evening and morning. My puppy got extremely sick one day so I took her to an emergency vet clinic near by that would be open late at night since Country Brook was closed by this time. My puppy came back positive with parvo. We were there for about and hour and had to pay $400 just so they could give her a few things to make it through the weekend. On Monday Morning my puppy was getting worse. More vomiting, bloody stool, lethargic. So I take my puppy to Country Brook. I left her there and I was getting updates every single day. I was honestly scared she wouldn't make it because she was really bad when I took her and bc of all the stories I've heard of puppies having parvo. But on the 3rd day I was able to visit my dog. She still looked sick, was still skinny, and was having diarrhea. And by Friday I get a call saying she's doing better and I  could take her home. As soon as I picked her up, She looked happy to see me, she was wagging her tail, and She looked like her old self again with tons of energy. But I was scared the bill would be crazy high bc of how bad she was. But it was $404. And in my opinion that was cheap because I was expecting more since I paid that much at the emergency vet clinic. AND COUNTRY BROOK OFFERS PAYMENT OPTIONS!! Will most definitely go there forever and ever and will tell everyone to take their pups and other fury animals. Wow! This was my first visit and so far, I'm not impressed. Took my dog here to have his leg looked at since he was in pain. Initial impression was nice. They don't take appointments so you have to wait FOREVER. The receptionist asked for my number to call me 20 minutes before they could see him and return later since I was looking at a 3 hour wait. That was at 2pm today. It's now 6pm and still no word. Tried calling them and the line was busy, so they only have 1 line at a vet? My dog seems to be much better than he was earlier today, thank goodness. If the pain is worse later on I MIGHT try this place again but after today's (first time) experience, I'm just not sure. First of, I have been a client of Dr. Pipes for roughly 25 years and this man. THIS MAN...LOVES your animals. I have never in my life ever heard of any other vet care about your animal as he does. My Trixie had hemorrhagic gastroenteritis - which is very severe - when I brought her in, she was listless and passing blood at an alarming rate. I seriously thought I was going to lose her right on the table. In swoops Dr. Pipes - they hospitalized her for 4 days. He was calling me personally twice a day every day telling me her status. I was able to pick her up the end of the 4th day and let me tell you - I've heard other vets charging an astronomical fee - it easily would have cost well over $1,000. My fee? It was $439. I mean. WOW. 4 days of constant care. There is a special place in heaven for this angel of a man and his staff. These people care about your animals like nobody else can. The actual doctors here are perfectly fine, and their rates are excellent, but the way they run their business is absurd. You cannot make an appointment, it's walk-in only; but this in and of itself is not the issue. The issue is that they will, on days that they *know* they are going to be busiest, only have ONE doctor in the office. And they won't volunteer that information until you show up to the clinic. I went through the stressful ordeal of wrangling my cat into his carrier, and driving to the clinic, expecting a long but reasonable wait; only to be informed that the wait would be 3 hours long. So I sat with my miserable cat in the lobby and waited... and three and a *half* hours later, the lady said there was still a "45 minute or so" wait. Accordingly, their waiting room was full of other pissed off people who had also been waiting for far too long- even given the fact that you can sign in at the clinic then leave and have them give you a call when your spot is coming up- because at 2pm they were just getting around to people who had "signed in" at 9am.. It's just ridiculous to the point of being unacceptable in my opinion. I ended up having to make an appointment with a vet across town (who could see me much sooner), and just leave because I couldn't afford to wait another couple hours... So bottom line, if you have literally nothing else to do with your entire day, and like the idea of waiting around for 4-5 hours for a vet to see you, then this is the place for you. I cannot say enough about the service and the caring people here. Our dog was injured pretty severly. We brought him in as an emergency. He required 2 surgeries and we were expecting a very large bill. They are very fair on pricing and let us pay out the balance. The techs and vets kept us very informed about what was going on and eased my worries. I will never take any of my animals anywhere else and would recomend this animal hospital to any and every one. Be prepared to wait... but also be prepared to encounter one of the best veterinarians in Dallas that offers his services at significantly lower prices. I have taken my dog(s) to Dr. Pipes for various issues ranging from cyst removals, to bladder infections to normal checkups and vaccines. I visited Dr. Pipes a few weeks ago because my dog had a bladder infection but he told me he could feel (just from using his hand) that she may have an underlying issue causing the infections, so if she gets another one he will need to operate. Last week I could tell my dog was getting another bladder infection (she was squatting to pee every minute or two) so I took off work the next day, and was at Dr. Pipes office at 7AM the next morning. I met with Dr. Pipes before 8AM and left my dog there for the operation. I was able to pick her up at 6pm and the issue has been resolved and she should not have anymore infections. The entire ordeal including the anesthesia, the operation, the antibiotics, the pain medication, all cost less than $165.This office does NOT accept appointments (except for surgeries I believe) and is first come first serve so my tip is, GET THERE EARLY. I was with another vet for about 25 years.  My old vet was headed toward retirement and slowing way down.  So, about 2-3 years ago, I reluctantly started looking for another vet for my 2 aging dogs, an Italian greyhound and a beagle.  Although Country Brook is extremely busy any time you arrive (a great indication of a good doctor), the staff is always very pleasant and attentive.  The doctors are fantastic.  Dr. Pipes was wonderful to help me with my little beagle when she had congestive heart failure about a year ago.  At my request, he ran many tests and prescribed several meds to try to save her until I felt comfortable and understood that we had exhausted our options to save her.  The price of her illness was extremely reasonable.  If you are looking for a move to another vet in the area, Country Brook is very good to their patients. I took my new puppy in for her first round of shots last week. The vet tech couldn't have been nicer. She even offered to take my pet crate and clean up the accident that happened on our way there. She petted my puppy, picked her up, and kissed the top of her head several times. Dr.  Cochran was the same way... very sweet and considerate of my dog. She said my pup seemed a little shy and stressed the importance of socialization. Their prices were good, and they didn't try to pitch additional unnecessary things to pad the bill. The staff was friendly, competent and caring. Dr. Pipes provided regular status reports. And when Bennie returned home the Dr. even called to check on Bennie Saturday evening and assured me that he was reachable Sunday in the event of an emergency. Dr. Pipes is phenomenal. The two souls that gave poor reviews clearly didn't see Dr Pipes himself. Plus Dr. Pipes will make payment arrangements if any kind of testing or surgery is needed. So if a test is needed and not done the the owner must not have wanted to pay for it. I had 3 dogs one lived to be 19 the other two 20. It's a long wait to see Dr Pipes but trust me wait to see him instead of one of the other vets if your baby is sick. If just needing shots the others will do. Read Less

Today we rushed our grandpuppy Simba(who's 15 weeks old, we think as he was added to our family only 3weeks ago) into Country Brook because our baby was vomiting and fatigued & not eating or drinking. As we pulled up we took Simba out of our car & immediately he started to bleed, my daughter ran in and told the nurse and she ran out and immediately she suspected  Parvo :'(.....she picked him up and hurried him up through the extremely busy lobby & put us in a room. We were a new patient and the staff and Doc were so kind and caring, professional and also very welcoming and informative. Our Simba had to stay in the hospital and we won't know anything for at least another 24-48 hours. As our family prays that Simba beats this virus, we also give thanks for the wonderful staff at Country Brook. We took our puppy here that was severely sick with what we knew was Parvo. After waiting for 20-30 minutes, she started vomiting constantly and when we asked for a time, we were told there were 6 people ahead of us and everyone elses dog was sick too, she just couldn't justify letting us ahead. Meanwhile, our 8 week old puppy is still vomiting uncontrollably in the waiting room. Nobody else's dog was vomiting and Parvo is highly contagious in dogs, I wouldn't think they'd risk their other patients getting it, but they didn't seem to care at all. We left and took our puppy to another vet clinic that saw her immediately. We will never go to this clinic again. Read Less

Dr. Pipes has saved 2 of my dogs life's. He met me after hours for my 13 year old Yorkie. She was at our baseball practice and was hit directly in the head with a wildly thrown ball. She immediately started seizing and foaming at the mouth. Dr pipes was mowing his yard and stopped and met us at his office. He took her back and immediately started IV mannitol. He saved her life and gave us another 5 years with our little girl. Although I would have paid whatever it took he was very reasonable. 5 years later while at the beauty shop my little baby had a heart attack. Dr Pipes maid an attempt to save her with CPR & intubation, we decided to let her go. He is a wonderful doctor & man who loves what he does! Avoid at all cost...and do not trust these reviews, they were paid...they will turn you away with known health issues for your dog, for the return trip...My dog Judy almost died because of heartworms, she had them when I took her in, she was very sick, and he said it was a heart problem...all it took was a drop of blood in a microscope to see she had heartworms...she almost died...I just took my dog buddy there for severe scaling on his back, she scolded me for telling my dog it was alright for growling at her, she was rough with him, I was trying to comfort him, sent me away with the advice to not bath my dog too much. Have been bringing in our pets here for as long as I can remember. Yeah there is a long wait, but either get there at a decent time (like the minute they open), put your name on the list and come back when called OR wait it out. Office is very homely and hasn't changed much over the years, but my animals and I don't care much for the ambience, were there to get them well so no biggie there.Dr.Pipes and the other vet on staff are VERY attentative with the animals. The office knows my dogs name as soon as we walk through the front door and his medical history. They always show genuine concern for the animals and charge REASONABLE prices. I love the vet. Dr Pipes is the most amazing vet ever. My dog was bit by a spider on a Labor Day weekend, her face and belly started swelling up really bad; it was getting bigger by the minute; and out of desperation I called the vet knowing that probably nobody was going to pick up. But he did, Dr Pipes picked up the phone on a day off. How many vets or doctors do you know who does that? He recommended baby Benadryl for my baby to reduce the swelling, which helped. This is a great Lil vet office tucked in the corner of a semi empty plaza off Lavon.   The staff are extremely nice and helpful.   They have a lot of patience.   Everything you want in people taking care of your four legged babies.   Their facility is clean and tidy.  It didn't even stink like some vet offices I have been to.  So thumbs up for that.  They also didn't bat an eye as my Lil man howled and barked in the waiting room.  Yes it seems as though some where through the years my dog has anxiety in public.  Poor guy.  The staff was very understanding.  I thank them for that.  Although it was quite embarrassing for me.They will get all my business from now on.   They are fast knowledgeable and not overly priced like some vet offices.  If you are in need of a good caring vet, pay them a visit.  You won't regret it. I read a review before i took my puppy there nd it said it was a really bad vet nd i didnt listen nd i still went.. i regret it sooo much my baby passed away. I dont think they tried to help him! The vet was tellin that they were callinme bt i never got any calls i was callin nd they didnt ppicked up. I went to ask for more info about what i could have done for my puppy nd if i had taken him to this other vet i found i could have saved him. I regret going there. Then the lady at the front was being rude. This people dont care for your pets! Please trust me the inside is not really clean like it should be. If i had gone in there before i would have never let them take him in there. They dont have the technology to detect their sickness. Their are other vets that charge a little bit more then this one but they are way better nd cleaner. I have been to many veterinarians in this county. He is by far the best. I can't even envision anyone leaving a rating any different than 5 stars. I feel if someone did not have a good experience that they can never be happy. Dr. Pipes graduated top of his class, He didn't tell me Dr. Jan Dewitt did. He graduated before finishing an Internal Medicine Specialty. He was marrried with kids.I personally know a lot about veterinary medicine. Mostly taught by Dr. Pipes, but I also resd the magazines from Tufts and Cornell Veterinary schools of medicine for years. I have been fostering cats and dogs for almost 41 years.. Over the years I have sent many people to him who all love him.If you have gotten a new pet and expect the vet to teach you about your pet, you are nuts. You should know a lot before you get one. You can read books or go online to get all the information you will ever need. You may have 1 pet, I promise I have far more than you. Since 1987 when he first opened his doors and because of the fostering I have done over the years I have called him out of bed multiple times. I know he has met me at the clinic EVERY holiday including Christmas. You can't tell me he isn't the best veterinarian, I know better. He's also the most intelligent person I have met. Go to one of the pricier vets and really get an education. Call me for the names. The pets yearly shots are $200.and you never get out with out paying up the wazoo.Also, renal failure at first looks like a severe kidney disease and there is no way of telling unless the animal has gone through antibiotics. I wouldn't take any pet I loved to this guy. Heck! I wouldn't take any pet I hated to this guy. It's been a few years, but I'm sure his skills haven't improved in the interim. He had my baby cocker on DAILY steroids for allergies for most of her tragically short life. Here's a shock -- something I didn't know back then, but HE should have -- daily steroid use is dangerous and deadly. My baby didn't live to see 4 years old.This isn't the only thing he did to my pets, just one of the most egregious. I would keep looking for another vet. Find one who actually knows what he's doing and will do more good than harm.I gave 1 star because this doesn't give the option of negative stars. :( Read Less

As first-time pet owners, we expected a little education, but got nothing. We waited for an hour back in one of the room even though there were only two people that went back before us. The dog we rescued had a spot of mange on her eye, so we were given Mitaban for it. We were told the dogs eyes would be fine with the diluted dip, so we didn't think much of it. After using it, however, I read about just how toxic this dip is to both animals AND humans. We weren't told to use gloves, keep our kids away, monitor her, or anything, and I am IRATE! Most vets do this in house and keep the dog for 24 hours and recommend not touching them another 24, yet, my husband was soaked in this stuff because we had no clue! My kids and myself (possibly pregnant) also got our hands in it while touching and petting her. Aside from being pissed that my family has put in danger, we weren't even told by an ANIMAL doctor just how dangerous it could be to ANIMALS. I will be filing a complaint with the TSBVME. Unacceptable. They gave me no pamphlets or information aside from a little booklet on care for the next year and my receipt. The ladies in the office aren't any better. When I called to ask they said, "Oh yea, you should've worn gloves....just don't DRINK it and you'll be fine...you won't die or anything." SERIOUSLY??? I want to share my story because these reviews are what led me to choose them in the first place. I guess all the 5 stars are for their low prices, but you definitely get what you pay for...
