We have been bringing our dogs to Banfield in Georgetown for roughly 10 years now. However, in the past 6 months this place has gone downhill. They keep changing vets and the last time I took my dog less than a month ago to see what was wrong with her she was misdiagnosed. In fact, the male vet on staff that day, who is yet another new vet to the store said he would do the surgery to remove an obstruction in her stomach that day but there was some equipment problem that prevented him from doing so. Thank God, because when we took her to the vet hospital on 620 so they could do the surgery, they said she didn't need surgery and she really needed antibiotics instead. Also, we took our other dog in this month for a toe issue he often gets and the male vet(again new to the store) said he had no idea what it was. The thing is, we have a bottle of anti-biotic for our dog's toes, as he is prone to weird toe blisters, that came from Banfield in Georgetown so it's not like they don't have that info on record so he could have looked it up to see what the blisters were. I am concerned when 2 out of 2 times, the new vets have no clue what they are talking about. To add to my complete irritation with Banfield, my dog, the one with the toe blisters is now overdue for his rabies shot because they neglected to tell us his shot was due in December. No phone call, no mailer saying the rabies shot was due, and he was just in with the toe thing this January and they still didn't tell us. So, my dog is not protected from rabies at this moment and I am extremely unhappy with Banfield. Finally, on two different occasions we have had a sick dog and tried to get her in to see a vet. Both times we were told the first available appointment was for a week out. Seriously, what part of sick, vomiting, lethargic dog is eluding you? I have had to wait before for an appointment because someone had to bring in their sick dog and I get that as a pet owner. What is the point of paying for a wellness plan and spending tons of money there every year when you can't get your sick dog in to see anyway. There is a very good chance that we will be finding a new provider which is unfortunate as we really like Dr. Vire but lately we have been stuck with less than stellar vets and sub-par front desk staff(except for Elaine who is always caring and competent).
