5/7/18 I took my sister's elderly dog to see Dr. Saint Peter. The dog has several serious things wrong with it. It started jumping on my loved one, who is very ill and we were afraid he would hurt her. But the dog is her life and she adores him. The dog jumped on the bed, ran in circles, paced and slept poorly. He had terrible diarrhea. Dr. Saint Peter said that the dog was anxious because of vision and hearing loss, that his hind quarters were failing, he had a heart murmur and had a couple of seizures. She told us to put him down. She changed his pain medication and the vet tech did say to change the dog to dry senior food, but Dr. Saint Peter didn't even tell us how to stop the diarrhea. She said we could keep him alive, but that it would be a lot of work and she did not advise it. I changed the dog's diet and had a horrible week struggling with the decision. Thank God after deciding to put the dog down, I took the dog to Crystal Falls Animal hospital to Dr. Huggins for a second opinion. He did fecal tests, which were normal, and gave the dog an EKG, which confirmed the heart murmur/atrial fibrillation. The dog had neither test at Castlerock. He sat with me and started at the dog's nose and ended at his tail, spending well over an hour telling me every single thing about the dog's health in great detail. He taught me what to look for that would mean that it finally was time to put the dog down, but said there was no need to do so yet. Dr. Saint Peter said the hindquarter issue was degenerative. Dr. Huggins said the problem with his back legs (which caused a few short periods each week when the dog could not walk) might get worse or stay the same. Dr. Saint Peter said sedation would kill the dog and it did not. The solutions the second vet proposed were not expensive. The dog's behavior is far better, he does not jump on my loved one, his walking is better, he has not had more seizures, he has no diarrhea, sleeps well, and is happy. He is ALIVE and I have not had to break my loved one's heart. Read Less

I wish I can put on 100 stars! I was a regular visitor to another clinic (I'm talking a lot) due to a dog with bad allergies to weather, food, grass, molds, etc. We discovered a lump on his hind quarters and took him to this other clinic where a new vet replaced another and he had absolutely no bedside manor and all of us didn't get a good vibe from him, so I called around and got him into Castlerock to meet with the vets to see if we like. Coca~Cola immediately responded to them all and we liked their facilities and staff, so no hesitation we booked the surgery. Coke came out fantastically, no real down time and he was feeling great! Since we had a relationship with the other veterinarian clinic (I'm talking 30 YEARS!!) I called to see if I can get his refill of allergy shots, and they told me that since we went elsewhere we are no longer a client of theirs. I was appalled but you know what, when one door closes another opens, I ran back to Castlerock with all the meds and injections labels and they were able to get all my refills and they contacted old vet to get all the records so I wouldn't have to deal with their rudeness again (again 30 YEARS!)I absolutely love the staff at Castlerock! Sadly, I must say that I would never bring my pet to Castlerock, because of the vituperous, vulgar, and angry post made by Lara Wueste, a vet tech from Castlerock, on the Facebook page of Alex's Angels, an organization that I support and love. Alex's Angels are fighting hard for the life of a kitten that suffered an animal attack. You have only to read Ms. Wueste's vile words to know that she should not ever be trusted with a sick pet. Her words evidence an anger issue, a lack of respect for others, and no concern for the lives of animals. She should be terminated from Castlerock's staff. At present, you rate no stars. Read Less

I have been a client at this clinic for about ten years now, and I have continued to come here after moving from Georgetown into Austin.i tried two other vets in Austin, that were much closer to home but felt like I got overcharged at both.  That may be due to the fact that Castlerock and Dr. Stummer's prices are so fair. She is an intense person, but she knows her stuff, and has a sense of humor that I can appreciate.  I think that the Thank You notes that adorn the walls of each exam room are a pretty good testament to how much her clients appreciate her expertise.Dr. St. Peter is also very competent, salt of the earth.  I just love that they are real people with a wealth of knowledge, not trying to sell you shit you don't need or scare you about your pet's health.I was there today and I'll be there for years to come. Outstanding veterinary hospital in every respect. We own Whiskers cat boarding facility and unexpectedly adopted an 18 year old cat named Bumpy that was in need of a loving home. Well, Bumpy's veterinary check up/blood work determined she is hyperthyroid and either needs daily medication, which has side effects, or she needs to have her thyroid removed. We called to get an estimate on the surgery - and Castlerock called later that day and left a message with our estimate. They stated that because we offered to take Bumpy in and gave her a home when she couldn't be shipped internationally to Chile, Dr. Stummer offered to do the surgery for half price. We never asked for a discount - and it was out of the goodness of their hearts that they voluntarily chose to be part of Bumpy's recovery and better health. I took my Mother's Beagle in to get put to sleep because my Mom was too sad to do it. The Beagle's name is Mischief. Mischief is about 16 years old, she has skin problems, she's almost completely deaf, she can't walk very well, another vet had told us she might have cancer in her stomach because it becomes distended on one side, she randomly pees on the floor, she sits in her pee when she pees outside, she cries out sometimes when she's just laying there. She's been kept comfortable, she's a happy dog, but it's been time to put her to sleep for awhile. So when my Mom broke her wrists and became unable to care for this dog, that already had needed to be out to sleep, she sent me to do it. I brought her to Castlerock and that woman vet told me that she wasn't going to put her down because she could treat get and keep her comfortable. I tried explaining that this dog has been kept comfortable and that she's 16 years old, that my Mom can't care for her anymore, that we've treated her bladder, etc. She refused to put her to sleep, insisted that she could give her a pill to treat her peeing on the floor. She was so rude and flat out asked me why don't I keep the dog while my Mom gets better. I said "No", she continued to grill me on why somebody else couldn't take the dog. This woman is so thoughtless, in front of my 9 yr. Old daughter to act like we were just putting Mischief down because we didn't want to care for her. I shouldn't be asked questions in that rude, intrusive manner and be told that. I told her several times again that she wags her tail because she's taking meds that keep her comfy. But when a dog has nerve issues with her hind legs and just pees and poops everywhere, has pain from the stomach like that. It's cruel to continue to keep them comfortable. She did not take anything I had to say, she was very rude and has no care for this dog. I feel like I was just dismissed and she treated me like a horrible person for wanting to put the dog down. I used to be a vet tech, and I've also worked with several animal shelters and rescues. There are animals that you keep comfortable and others that you just can't keep alive because it's cruel, and Mischief was suffering. I took her to another vet and they took one look at her and all of them were said it's definitely time to put her to sleep. I will never use this vet again, I'm so disappointed. Read Less

Castlerock Pet Hospital is absolutely wonderful! Dr. Stummer took great care of my two kitties, Alice and Filomena. One of my cats is newly adopted from Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, so her exam was FREE! My other fur-baby can be pretty aggressive when stressed out, and the Castlerock staff handled her "PURR-fectly!" The facility is beautiful and the staff are friendly (and funny!), helpful, and really "know their stuff." Best of all, Castlerock Pet Hospital is super affordable. Their fees are much lower than some of the other vets in Georgetown. It's definitely worth the short, scenic drive out! Today was our first time coming here.. My daughter had been emailing with the staff to get a price quote about having a mass removed from our Chihuahua.. They gave us a price way lower then other places we had called.. Not only did they remove her mass but trimmed her nails, deep cleaned her teeth, removed 4 teeth and sent her home with pain meds all for the price we were quoted.. Thank you Dr. Stummer for the blessing you gave us with your services.. We will definitely recommend you to anyone looking for a great vet and we will be bringing our baby back for any other things she will need Read Less

Our hat's off to Dr. Stummer and Castlerock pet hospital. You guys are great!Read Less

THANK YOU, Dr. Stummer and all the staff who helped my two anxious babies today. :) Read Less
