I have been very pleased with all aspects of Zoot Pet Hospital and Luxury Boarding. What impresses me the most is the way they all treat the animals with love. Gumbo loves going there and starts getting excited as soon as he realizes that is the direction we are headed. They are always very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable of my animals. I have 3 dogs, one of whom is 18 yrs old and 1 Red Eared Slider Turtle. I was amazed the last time a received a vaccine notice, for my senior dog, from a different vet, I decided to come to Zoot instead and found out he didn't even need to be getting the vaccines for the last 3 years! Unbelievable place. All of the staff were fantastic and the attention to detail was amazing. Received a call the day prior to our appointment giving us an overview of my dogs surgery and addressed all of my concerns. The day of her surgery, we were greeted by very friendly staff and the veterinarian himself. Doctor Jensen Young was incredibly nice and made us feel right at home. They had our golden retriever all taken care of right when they said they would and gave us clear instructions on how to take care of her at home. The following day we received a follow up phone call to make sure scout was doing well and there were no issues. I normally go to a different Vet, but my dog was sick and they were booked for same day appointments so I called around and zoot had an opening that afternoon. The Doctor at zoot mis diagnosed my dog. Said that he did not have the symptoms of Parvo, checked him for worms, it came back negative and said that he probably just had a stomach bug and sent us home with some anti upset stomach meds. I specifically asked if there is anything else we can do to figure out what's wrong with him. After not eating anything for over 48 hours and not showing any interest in food at all and having diarrhea, I had a hard time believing it was just an upset stomach. So I took him to the heart of Texas animal hospital. As soon as I told them what he was and wasn't doing, the doctor said, I think we should do a Parvo test. Sure enough, came back positive. I spent over 2 hours at zoot with no answers and in less than 10 min at another vet, I knew what was wrong with my pup. I don't know if it's a lack of experience or what, but the doctor we saw at zoot was convinced that a 18 month old lab with his symptoms did not have Parvo. Had I waited it out like she suggested, my dog may not have lived this long. I'm writing this review 5 days after he was diagnosed and I'm still laying on the floor next to him, giving him IV injections, meds, cleaning up the fluids that are leaking out of his body, nursing him back to health. 24 hours more of waiting like the doctor suggested would probably have been the end of him. To top it all off, on Monday I ran out of IV fluid and because zoot is the closest vet to my house and I didn't want to leave my dog alone for very long, I called them to see if I could pick up more IV fluid from them. I called them at 10am and put in the request. I got a call at 1pm from them asking why I needed the fluid and that they were going to have to call the heart of Texas to get his diagnosis records. 3 hours? Just to ask me why he needed it? Didn't ask me when I asked for it the first time? Then the don't call me back until after 3 to tell me I can come get it and they want to talk about the doseage of fluid that I'm giving him. In the meantime, I had already called his normal vet in Georgetown when zoot didn't call me back right away and they ask what's going on and tell me I can pick up the fluid in 5 min! Not happy with zoot, I'll never take a pet there again. Read Less

I can't say enough about this wonderful AAHA accredited pet hospital. I have been taking my 2 senior dogs here since we arrived into town almost 2 years ago. We came from a top notch vet and were fearful that we would not find another one that came close. Luckily Zoot was recommended to us and they have given our precious dogs the BEST care EVER. I have repeatedly tried them out of sheer convenience. They are expensive. This last attempt I even had waivers from the shelter for a free exam and rabies shot. The exam was free...all the testing they insisted on was not. $50 bill. We returned a month later when our kitten was older for a rabies vaccine with our voucher and left before the appt. The rabies shot was free: the exam (which I couldn't opt out of even though he was healthy and had been seen a month before) and kitten booster vaccine were not. It was going to be at least another $50. So after having adopted a cat and having all the vaccines "taken care of" through vouchers from the shelter ZOOT still would have milked us for over $100. BTW- if you drive further East down 29 you can buy all your vaccines (including bordatella) for under $10 at the feed store and they have regular low cost vaccine clinics;) Read Less

Dr. Jensen Young is the best! He rushed my Sprocket in after a vicious attack and took great care of him and me. He explained everything very clearly after examining his condition and Sprocket came out like a champ! Prices were very reasonable and the care was top notch. I highly recommend Zoot, it's worth the drive from Round Rock. The entire staff were caring and compassionate. As I waited I witnessed over 15 pets returning to their families and they all were treated with love and the the owners were all very happy here. Thank you all at Zoot! Sprocket is doing great!! I have been taking my Chocolate lab to Zoot for their Play and Train program.  He is very comfortable around other dogs and people due to their great socialization training. He walks well on a leash and knows how to sit and lay down. So many things about Zoot are wonderful especially for puppies.  I am so glad we took him there for training.  We also use Zoot for boarding. I won't use any other facility. Read Less

We've come to Zoot for both veterinary services and boarding.  Both are top notch.  The boarding is as nice as it gets!  Our dog would LOVE to go.  We recently got a second pup, and have since not been going because of the cost.  It isn't cheap.  You know that saying, "you get what you pay for....We also see Dr. Young here. He is great!  Compassionate, caring, always answers our questions. It's a drive for us from Cedar Park, but we think it's worth it for the best care.  Pups are part of the family, after all. I have had 5 star experience with the vet service. I too believe and put a lot of faith in Dr. Young. He has followed-up with phone calls and e-mails out of concern for my pet; I find this to be unusual around here. I board with them and the service is excellent; however, I find it to be too pricey. I recently moved to the area and it was recommended from our previous vet to look for an AAHA accredited vet. Zoot Pets was the closest to me so we decided to give their hospital a try. We were blown away by the level of care shown to our precious pet. The receptionists got me in quickly and handled the record transfer. Excellent care all around. Have always trusted the staff and doctors at Zoot with our 3 weimaraners. We recently went through a tough period with one of them who contracted cancer and the service from Zoot rose above excellent. Although naming names is not always appropriate, Dr. Young went above and beyond in his care for our Weimaraner. He was a trusted sounding board and advisor as we selected the care options. I depended on him for advice all the way through and he never let me down. My husband and I boarded our two great danes on two separate occasions for 5 days or longer. The staff at Zoot were friendly and enthusiastic about keeping our dogs. Our dogs are not normally exposed to many people or other dogs but I felt confident that their finicky ways were tolerated at Zoot. The staff provided information as requested and photos via text while we were out of town. We will definitely continue to use Zoot for our boarding needs. Read Less

I began taking my dog to daycare at Zoot in July 2014 because my family and I were preparing to go on vacation in August. In August we left him at Zoot, in boarding for a little over a week. When we returned we picked him up, and the next day when we were petting him we found little bumps on his belly, up near his armpits especially. We also noticed there were scabs along his belly and we didn't think too much of it, we thought maybe it was mosquito bites maybe fleas, (we had no idea what it could be) but figured it would go away with a bath. I started noticing him scratching himself a lot more as each day went by so I scheduled an appointment with his vet to check for fleas. We took him to the appointment and they said "that's a clean dog!". So no fleas. We then called Zoot and asked for an appointment with one of their vets to get him checked out to see what it could possibly be because we believed he picked this up at their facility since he'd never had anything like this before. They were more than happy to make an appointment for us for a free exam for the following day. I took him in to see the vet and they saw no signs of anything except some kind of irritation that they didn't know the cause of (which is exactly what I knew), so I left still not knowing what it could be and without any treatment for this infection, but the vet had convinced me the only way they'd know if it's something he picked up there was if he returned again for another day of daycare or boarding. So what did I do? Signed him up for another day of daycare which would be 3 days later (don't ask me why). I don't blame the vet for not knowing what caused the irritation, but she very well could have been able to tell that there was something wrong. A couple days after daycare my dog began to scratch at himself several times a day so I decided to make another appointment with my own vet who was EASILY able to tell that my dog had a skin infection and prescribed antibiotics and medicated shampoo. I find it very hard to believe that the vet at zoot wouldn't have been able to see all the signs, but I guess I should have trusted all the reviews on their poor vet services. That was the last time I ever took him to daycare and it was a couple of days later that I had made that appointment with my own vet who saw the skin infection clearly. I was so excited at first when I'd take him because he seemed to love it but after seeing this skin infection, I won't be returning to zoot for daycare/boarding and especially not for the medical services again. I hope everyone else's experiences with zoot will be a lot better than ours, but unfortunately that's our story. Read Less

When our petsitter retired it took several months to find a replacement mainly because, for several years, she opened up her home to our sweet Ozzy and made him feel like part of her family. We researched many different types of boarders located in several different cities: Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Liberty Hill, Pflugerville and of course, Georgetown. We received a couple of referrals from people we trust and decided to give Zoot a try and signed up Ozzy for the doggie daycare test. When we dropped him off that first day, we were invited to take a tour of the boarding facilities. The resort is located on a tract of land with many shade trees and is beautiful and clean both inside and out. The tech gave a thorough tour, showing and explaining the daily routines. We were relieved to learn that they separate the little dogs from the big dogs. In addition, upon determining the personality of the dog, they separate one step further...shy vs. excited, etc. While on vacation last week, Ozzy stayed and played for three nights. When we dropped him off, Andrea asked if we wanted to accompany him to his suite after filling out the Q&As. Yes, please! : ) We played with Ozzy and watched her prepare his suite, asking us what size bed he needed, whether we wanted a plastic or a metal bowl for his water, etc. This last point of contact with him before leaving on our trip meant the world to us. We, like many other pet parents, want our furbabies to be safe and feel loved while being boarded. Zoot definitely fufills those needs. When we picked him, he was clean and happy to see us. We were told that he and little girl named Zoe were best friends during their stay. He slept really well that night so we know he had lots of fun on his little vacation. : ) Read Less

After glancing at all the other wonderful reviews it hardly seems necessary to add ours, but we feel so strongly that Zoot Pets is an excellent organization that we want to add our review to the mix.  Over the years we have interacted with all of the Zoot veterinarians and staff.  Their professionalism is exemplary, but it is the caring and support that we value above all.  Our questions and concerns have always been thoroughly dealt with, and we have never felt rushed during our visits.  In particular, Dr. Jensen Young has been wonderful as a caregiver and resource.  We value his knowledge and opinions, and appreciate his interest in our pet's welfare and willingness to research alternative treatments. My pets are my children. I can't go out of town without worrying constantly about my babies. I needed to find a place to board my two dogs for about a week, without being stressed out of my mind about their well-being. I was told about this place. Went to check it out. It is wonderful. I felt very very comfortable leaving my furbabies here in the hands of the Zoot Staff. They go above and beyond. Now, this is NOT a cheap place. However, I rather pay a little more here and not have to worry, than pay for a cheaper place and be stressed! They staff is sweet. We've used Zoot for boarding our dog several times over the past year for varying lengths of stay (2-8 nights).  We would definitely recommend Zoot as a great boarding option for your pet (specifically dog in this case, but I'm sure they're great with other animals as well).  First, our dog loves the staff at Zoot.  We can't say enough about how much effort they've put into getting to know our dog.  She's a rescue who is very suspicious of new people, but the staff has made Zoot a place where she is very comfortable (she even gave a tail wag when she saw she was getting dropped off at Zoot last time).  We have no concern as we know she is in good hands whenever she stays here.Keeping us up to date on how are dog is doing / behaving is  a nice touch.  The picture messages mean a lot when you're wondering how a member of your family is doing.We also like the fact that Zoot has the option to get a room with a webcam just so you can check in.  Obviously not necessary for everyone, but it's a nice option when you're going away on a longer trip.Just as important - the facility is always clean and the surrounding area is very nice.We really have no negative comments.  We only wish it was closer to our house, but it's worth the drive for us to know our dog is in good hands. Disappointed.  Wish I had the same experiences as other pet owners.  I will share my experience and you decide.I brought my two Rhodesian Ridgebacks for their first visit and vaccinations.  The facility is excellent and the employees and Veterinarian were very nice.  I did have a good experience that day.However, the next day, one of my Ridgebacks started to become sick and overnight broke out in hives, started vomiting, etc. I called Zoot early Friday morning and told them I thought one of my dogs was having and allergic reaction and that he needed to be seen.  They said they were all booked and could make an appointment for Saturday. I explained to them again that I thought he was having an allergic reaction and they said the work on appointments only.That was disappointment number 1.I brought my dog to an emergency room Veterinarian and he having an allergic reaction, but also was diagnosed with another disease that I believe was missed during his new patient appointment with Zoot.I emailed my  pets Zoot Veterinarian about what happened and asked her to share my experience with the owners.  Asking them if this was how they wanted to treat their patients, should my pet have been seen same day for an alleged allergic reaction to a vaccine they injected him with, and a few other questions and after one month, still have not received a response.That was disappointment number 2.I will not longer to to the award wining Zoot animal hospital. Not sure why they call themselves a hospital when they are clearly and appointment only clinic. I wish everyone else has better experiences. Read Less

My dog's medication was increased unnecessarily without consulting me beforehand. They increased because of a 2lb weight loss which I could have explained to them was a change in diet at home. I was not given the chance to tell them this, as they didn't ask. Poor customer service, and poor treatment of my dog. I will never go back, and I would not recommend them to anyone with a dog that has Addison's Disease. They do not understand the importance of electrolytes testing for these dogs, or know how to treat it, and are not willing to do the research needed to learn. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs and cat to zoot for three years now. They are the the most caring group of people in the world. When we brought our very ill lab pup to them they saved his life and now are training him to be an incredible family member. We use them for our boarding needs and never worry about their care. The staff has been so supportive when we grieved the loss of two of our family pets due to old age, as though they we part of their own family. We moved from California to Sun City last year and we have been using Zoot ever since. The other vet clinics we visited were crowded and cramped and quite frankly smelled. Not at Zoot. The front desk staff is so pleasant and accomodating. They called my old vet and all the records were ready to go when we had Monfiis' first appointment. Appointments always seem to run on time (Why can't my doctor do that?) We have used Zoot boarding on several occassions while taking Zoomers trips in Sun City. I was so happy to find this place close to our new home. I was running late for my first visit and they were more than willing to readjust their busy schedule! As I had dragged all three of our pups out with me, I was very grateful! My experience here has been nothing short of excellent. We had a hurt puppy English bulldog. We have been clients the past year. We needed help , because she hurt her leg. We took the wrong turn and we were 15 minutes late. We even called to notify them. They had the nerve to call back in 5 minutes to say we can't see you. Reschedule. We were in the parking lot. Needless to say.. you are only a # there with no real customer service. Front desk is horrible. Horrible service. Moved on to another vet office the same day that was able to fit our sweet bulldog in. NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NO EXCUSES. Don't let Zoot's curbside appeal fool you. They don't have a heart for pets, no matter how much you are willing to spend and wait to get in. Good luck.. we have found a vet that actually cares & takes the time to show it. Zoot just cares about their mini boarding hotel they are running.. its a cash cow.
