I don't trust the reviews on this place I took my dog totally for urgent care unprofessional they didn't do anything that a normal hospital would I mean there was no kind of plastic guards on the thermometer I mean they didn't listen hard stomach didn't take a pulse check nothing to her nothing then I normal hospital did I took my dog somewhere else it's completely different I mean I don't know how this place is considered a hospital spend a few hundred dollars and we were no better off totally unprofessional unclean and the doctor seem kind of stupid sorry to say that I mean when I watch them use a rectal thermometer with no plastic guard or anything then they left it on the counter they didn't throw it away so obviously they just clean it off and use it for another dog like nothing and I mean that's that says it all right there I also noticed that most of the reviews on this business only have a few reviews under their belt seems a little strange I've seen a lot of crazy things but I've never see the hospital just like it was like I was such a lapse in professionalism and cleanliness and maybe a just common sense it's hard to make for me to believe that businesses are allowed to operate like that they're supposed to be hospitals from my viewpoint I think they don't consider animals of the same value as a human being I don't understand that especially since for me and many others my animals are intricate part of my family and to see them treated with total disrespect and with no regard when they when they fighting to live you know. I am extremely disappointed in the experience and care I received at this location. I had noticed that my new puppy had suddenly lost her appetite and couldn€t stand. That morning, I sought urgent care at this location and I spoke with Mando, the front clerk, March 10th at 10 A.M. I waited 2 hours in the lobby and I was never called in! Sadly during that time my puppy passed away and when I notified Mando of this, his response was €Oh, your puppy died?€ and then he just hid behind a wall and said nothing more! If you have a pet that requires immediate care, I urge you to visit another facility. I can€t help but think that my puppy would still be alive had I gone somewhere else! Read Less

Just want to say what a wonderful experience we have had with Dr. Mitchell and her staff at Arroyo. We are a small rescue and take all our animals there personal and fosters. Dr. Mitchell has seen approximately 90 dogs for us since she took on Arroyo. And we have never had better service or care for our pets. We trust her and her staff implicitly and are so glad to have her as our vet. Just recently we took two small Chihuahuas there for heartworm treatment and not only are they doing perfect with their treatment and gaining weight to boot. Thank you Arroyo Veterinary Hospital for all that you have done to bring quality affordable care to those that need it most. We would never go anywhere else. Read Less

We have taken ALL of our pups to Arroyo Vet Hospital and Dr. Mitchell and her staff have always been nothing but GREAT with them. I have had a mini Doxie with a blown disk and another whom got kicked by a horse and with no specialist in the Valley Dr. Mitchell provided exceptional care to both of my dogs explaining all of the options and guiding us through the care. Something I look for in my pets Doctor. Both have recovered and are walking and running and back to being my fur babies. I would go no where else in town or the Valley for the care of my dogs. I cannot say enough good things about Arroyo Vet! Dr. Mitchell and her staff are wonderful. My dogs are older and she always offers helpful suggestions to improve their quality of life. The docs and staff are wonderful. The techs are very caring and do their best to answer all questions the clients may have. Dr Mitchell is a large animal vet as well. Highly recommend anyone out there who is looking for a large animal vet to call this office. Can't imagine anyone having complaints about this practice. The staff is great !!! Read Less

This was the WORST visit! The main veterinarian was out so the temporary one they had in today, Karen S Wallace prescribed the wrong medication. After I handed her the records of my last visit from San Antonio (I just moved to Harlingen) she chose not to look at it. Then she wanted to run all these tests that my dog just had on 4/24/16. All she wanted was to run the bill. Karen only made my dog uncomfortable by displaying hesitant gestures to even pet my dog. I'm return, my dog was scared of ONLY her. They brought the front desk girl, Jacqueline, in instead and she got the real vet on the phone only to tell me Karen prescribed the WRONG medication. I asked her to get me my total down to the penny. Jacqueline told me $37 for the "exam" and $106 for the medication. I go to pay and my total is $198!!!! I'm not an accountant but where is the extra $55 coming from?!? Oh, that's right. Jacqueline forgot to add another medication. This was the worst and I will never come again. The majority of this happened in the lobby where other pet owners could hear all the discrediting comments from the staff. TERRIBLE!!!!Read Less

I am so glad we found Dr. Mitchell. She respects my time, shows up at the farm when needed, and is very knowledgeable with our cows and horses. Large animal vets are hard to find across this country so we are very blessed to have one as good as Dr. Mitchell. Read Less

I had 2 experiences with this Veterinary Hospital, and both were great. Once I had my pot belly pig spayed and microchip placed they were great. The second time was a very sad time for me, but the staff was wonderful and very caring. I live in Alamo, but will drive to Harlingen for these people to take care of my pets. Dr. Mitchell was just wonderful and I am glad she has agreed to be my vet of choice. I am glad I followed her from Mission. Read Less

Dr Mitchell is very good to our family of animals, big and small. She has always done what is in their best interest with the best care that is out there. Her groomer, Lee, has also done a good job with my dogs. Unfortunately one of my dogs does have an attitude and she went out her way to not traumatize him, I am grateful for that! Read Less
