I've been taking my kitties to Alamo Feline since I adopted my first cat in my 20's .Without question this clinic will save your cats and prolong their lives. Over 20 years, I can still name all the wonderful vets that have cared for my cats over the years, but, I'll spare you . A few years ago my mom's cat turned yellow, her vet was not optimistic and I said, "If you want to save your cat forget the emergency vet...get him to Dr. Northsworthy if you want to save him." She did and he lived. I just got my car back after six days at Alamo Feline Another life saved, another success story! Please do not think of anywhere else to take your cat but Alamo Feline! Our kitty was diagnosed to have a thyroid tumor - and our local vet recommended Dr. Norsworthy when medications didn't assist. Thank goodness - after radiation and a cyst removal, Tommy is back to himself. The team at Alamo Feline Health Center is professional and caring - cannot say enough nice things about this team. I made a mistake taking my cats there. He doesn't read the passed history of your cat prior to entering the room. He jumped to an expensive surgery when it wasn't needed. Then the next year my cat is losing weight and was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism. So I had to spend another 1400 dollars to fix that. He knew she was hyperthyroid when he did he 1st biopsy and didn't say anything. He thought my cat had chemo when she didn't. I noticed that he pets my cat more than he examines her. On another visit I tried the younger vet thinking she was better. I was told that in house labs were better than a labs bloodwork. I was told she couldn't diagnose my cat without it. That is when I should have left, because she was bullying me, but I am a timid person. Long story short, I redid my babies labs w another vet and the in house labs were completely off by several numbers, which could mean life and death for an animal. Read Less

I found Alamo Feline Health Center when I was searching for boarding my cats while I went on vacation. I was impressed with the boarding choices. When it came time for my cats annual visit, I knew I would be returning. Although one of my cats had to be put down after several years, I am always treated with the most respect and sensitivity. My other cat has just finished chemotherapy and has regained her weight. Dr. Norsworthy is always very sensitive to your cat's needs as well as your own. (I guess Google deleted my old review when I updated) anyways! 5 stars, for my 5 cats! I bring all of them here for anything they need. I will admit there have been some times where treatment faltered but it's always been made up for. Everyone is very nice and seem to care about your kitties. We were referred to Dr. Norsworthy by our local vet, when one of our cats had an illness that was difficult to diagnose and treat. Dr. Norsworthy contacted our vet for additional information and immediately worked us into his schedule. He was able to quickly diagnose and treat our cat, and has continued to treat this ongoing condition. The staff is friendly, and the facilities are great. Additionally, when we've had questions, we've phoned the clinic and Dr. Norsworthy has responded within 24 hours, minimizing the need to come into the clinic for non-essential visits.While we are happy with our local vet and the care he gives all three of our cats, having an expert like Dr. Norsworthy available within driving distance is terrific. We highly recommend Dr. Norsworthy and the Alamo Feline Health Center for anyone looking for competent and considerate care for their cat(s). Read Less

Dr. Norsworthy and his staff have been treating my cats for ten years, and all have received excellent care. Treatments ranged from routine checkups to major hip and stomach surgeries, and all have come out well. I especially remember when our large Maine Coon had dislocated his hip, and we were fearful he would never walk right again. The cat healed perfectly, and months later one would never have known the injury had been so severe.Dr. Norsworthy has always been very proactive in recommending treatments and providing options for me, but ultimately the choices have been mine. Yes, some treatments are not cheap, but considering the staff and equipment needed, the educational updates, and the general clinic overhead, I do not feel charges are unreasonable at all. My cats have always interacted well with the doctor and his staff, and they are comfortable being there since it is only cats and no other animals. My complete faith and confidence is in Alamo Feline, and I would not consider going anywhere else. Read Less

Definitely the best Cat's hospital in San Antonio, TX. Doctor Norsworthy has written 12 books and still going on. The staff is super friendly in general. This place is great. They had to give me bad news about Tabby Cat and the vet, Lisa Restine, seemed genuinely concerned about him and us. She was very caring and even though she might have to give bad news to people often it didn't seem like she was speaking from a generic script that she gives everyone. It looked like she was actually upset about this. Maybe it was because she could tell how much he meant to us. She told us about the options and what was realistic with his stomach cancer. I've been through hell many times in this life and nothing compared to having to take Tabby Cat back in three weeks later for his final appointment. Lisa obviously tried very hard to make this as easy on us, and Tabby Cat, as possible and we thank you for this. This was pure hell but you didn't do anything to make it worse. Everything went as good as it could I guess. The staff has been very sympathetic and caring from the moment we were told about his stomach cancer. Tabby Cat has been with me since he was a kitten and for 13 years I knew this day would come and I've dreaded it. I'm glad that Lisa was available for it because she did all she could to make it as easy as possible for us all . Thank you Lisa R for your compassion and for making this quick and then giving us our privacy. I made sure I gave him a great life with as much love and food (he loved lasagna, tortillas, mashed potatoes, and enchiladas) as he wanted so that when this day came I'd know that I gave him the best life possible.Read Less

The most amazing staff and doctors I've ever met. They saved my cats life after going to someplace previously and did it with in the most amazing record time. This is the greatest clinic! Our baby Thomas had stones and needed a surgery to correct the problem! Dr. Restine, Dr. Romeo, and Dr. Norsworthy saved his life! They have gone above and beyond for our kitty and will always hold a special place in our hearts! We know that anytime Tom has to go to the clinic he is in the best hands! It is hard to find the words to explain my love for Alamo Feline Health Center. Our primary care vet in Corpus Christi said we needed Dr. Norsworthy's clinic to save our Wallace and they got us in the same day - just enough time to drive there. He stayed there for a week under Dr. Restine's care, where she performed surgery and saved his life!! He is back home now and I am so happy to know about this clinic! To give you a helping hand if your choosing a vet for your kitty. Please ignore the other posts. My experience with this clinic has been hands down the best. They are super sweet at the front desk and the Dr we worked with, Dr. Restine, is amazing. Knowledgeable, personable and overall truely a sweet doctor. The front desk help I received was great. Very helpful and friendly. Please don't hesitate to give these guys a chance. I am extremely picky and very thorough on my research. Hands down the place to go. We are the process of diagnoses. This clinic, the doctors, and the staff are beyond fantastic! We have multiple fur babies and will go no place else. We drive from the other side of town to utilize this clinic. We tried someplace closer and 4 visits later they could not diagnosis our cat. One visit and this clinic had George the cat on the right path to getting better. We love this place. Read Less

12/31/2015: Help! My cat is being held hostage! I need to pick up Popcorn ASAP. He is boarded at AFHC while we were out of town. Because I could not pick him up before clinic closure on Wednesday 12/30, I advised the staff by phone that I would pick him up the following day (today). I was not told of an early closure today. I visited at 2:50 pm today and the clinic is closed with absolutely no point of contact listed. There is no signage at all at the entrance. According to the web page and this facebook page the clinic should be open. An open-ended disclaimer on the clinic web page stating new year's eve may affect hours is not sufficient. Staff knew I was scheduled to pick him up today. They have my telephone number and email address, yet I received no notification of an early closure. And AFHC is also closed tomorrow, meaning I can't pick up my cat until Saturday 2 January. This is simply not acceptable. 1/1/2016: Yay! Popcorn is home! As there was no other way to contact the clinic, I waited until early this morning, when I expected staff would arrive to attend to the boarded cats, and indeed, someone was there. They released Popcorn with many apologies and didn't charge for the extra night. I'm very satisfied with the accommodations and the level of attention they give to boarded cats and I'll certainly board Popcorn here when necessary. However, there should be signage at the entrance, at a minimum clearly stating hours and a designated point of contact telephone number for after-hours issues such as mine. Moreover, when holiday hours are in effect, they should be clearly posted on the front door and in all online pages. This is nothing less than inexcusable inattention to elementary detail. Clients deserve to know how to contact someone on staff when they are paying to have their pet and family member boarded. What's more, another front office issue needs attention. During several visits in advance of my decision to make a reservation to board Popcorn, I inquired about documentation procedures. Not once was I advised that I would be required to complete lengthy forms before I could drop him off. There was ample opportunity for the staff to so advise me, and I would have been happy to do so in advance. Instead, on the morning that I brought him, on my way to the airport, I was greeted with the blank documents and told it would be necessary to complete them before I could leave him. This is an unwelcome inconvenience and interruption of my schedule, and it could have been easily avoided by virtue of simply communicating with the client. My issues above are all administrative in nature. I'm certain I'm not the only client who has experienced them. I would like to believe the clinical staff are not aware of these types of shortcomings and would find them troubling, but someone on the administrative staff is, and that person needs to rectify these issues. If I were rating AFHC solely on the level of care and attention my cat received while boarded, I would give 5 stars. But the front office issues indicate sloppy administration, and that colors the entire experience. Read Less

I just recently took my sweet boy, Edmund, to see Dr Norsworthy. Sadly, my boy was diagnosed with a heart condition. He's in the hospital now. Dr Norsworthy and the entire staff have been nothing but kind and gentle with Edmund. They are taking such good care of him. I appreciate everything they have done for him!! Read Less

It is great to have a place just for cats. The vet was awesome and the results the same. The only con i see is that the girls that are as receptionist are not to friendly/welcoming... besides that... the experience was great and my little princess was treated nicely and with any issues afterwards.Read Less

I took my cat Sonny to Dr. Norsworthy approximately a year ago to treat his upper respiratory infection which was a recurring problem for him his whole 2 years of life. He had been to other vets that treated the symptoms but the infections always came back. I even mentioned a possible herpes infection to the vets I had been to before going to Dr. Norsworthy but they never prescribed him the correct medicine or gave me any concrete diagnosis. Dr. Norsworthy told me shortly after examining him that he had a herpes infection and gave him the correct medicine to treat herpes. He has not had any more upper respiratory infections since we treated him a year ago despite the fact that the doctor told me that the drug works better if you catch it sooner. My poor cat was suffering with his condition for 2 years until we went to Alamo Feline. I wish we had gone here sooner. The doctor took his time to examine my cat and discuss his condition with me. They are not the cheapest vet that I have been to but I received a correct diagnosis and my cat is better now. Thank you Dr. Norsworthy and staff. Read Less

He will answer all your questions and doesn't make you feel like he's in a rush to get out of the room and on to the next patient. I am the proud owner of five furry critters. I have taken them all to Dr. Norsworthy. In sickness and in health they have provided the best care to them possible. They have always been so professional and kind to my kitties. Besides the excellent care, the fact that it is a feline only clinic, helps put my cats at ease with the whole process. Our family has been going to Dr. Norsworthy before Alamo Feline Health Center was even planned. When the Health Center opened we were eager to follow the Doctor to his new ""State of the Art"" facility. We have rescued 14 cats over the last 21 years and all received excellent care from the doctor and his staff. Unfortunately we have had to deal with several diseases with our many felines, stomatitis, heart disease, cancer, FIV and old age. I cannot say enough positive things about the Alamo Feline Health Center! Due to the utter negligence of the general vet I had been seeing, my cat was literally at death's door. His lungs were collapsed and he was suffering from histoplasmosis (a really nasty fungal disease). On the recommendation of one of the workers at the emergency animal hospital, I brought my cat to Alamo Feline Health Center. If it hadn't been for the excellent care provided by Dr. Norsworthy and his staff, my cat would not be here with us today.Dr. Norsworthy and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly; they actually care about the health and well-being of your cat and thoroughly discuss any issues with you. While my cat was in surgery, they called to give me status updates, and again after he came home to make sure he was doing okay. Their office is always clean and inviting, and wait times are kept to a minimum. Being that it is an all cat facility, you don't have to worry about the added stress of a vet visit of loud dogs and other strange animals.I have taken my cats to many vets over the years, and this is, by far, the best place we have ever been. As a person who had always lived with dogs, it was a new world for me when I became the roommate of a cat. I found Sophie at the SPCA, scared to death and sick with a cough and fever. At first, I just kept going to general veterinarians for my new feline friend. It just wasn't satisfactory but I didn't know why. When I took the advice of a friend who recommended Dr. Norsworthy and his staff, I really understood the difference. These folks really understand cats in a way I never knew was possible! My first cat, Sophie, was soon joined by James, my lovable ginger Maine Coon (also from the SPCA). When we found out that he has a heart condition, I was truly worried. James is still doing well with the tender loving care of Dr. Norsworthy and his crew. We're still hoping to keep James around for many more years, and at least I know he is getting the very best care at AFHC. We only look to the positive and each visit is uplifting. We got in to see Dr. Norsworthy within one hour of our call to his office, and to make a very long and drawn-out story short, through the expert care, advice and counsel of Dr. Norsworthy and his staff, our geriatric cat recovered and thrived for nearly three more years. We have 4 cats and 2 of them have been under Dr. Norsworthy's care and staff for 14 1/2 years. I had to take one of my cats recently with kidney disease and she hadn't eaten for days. Within 2 weeks she gained back a pound and 6 ounces which is very unusual for a cat who is 14 1/2 years old with kidney disease . His expertise and knowledge of cat health issues is very impressive and he explains it all in a way that a lay person can understand. He is so knowledgeable about his clients that we followed him when he moved/opened this new practice. His amazing knowledge base has afforded our cats longer lives with a better state of health. He and his staff are top notch and you couldn't pay me to take our pride of felines anywhere else. We are three cats who have been to Alamo Feline Health Center over the last 9 years. We love Alamo Feline Health Center because all the people there are friendly and nice to us. While we don't like going to the doctor, Dr. Norsworthy is super knowledgeable about us and is very gentle when he has to treat us. We like his staff because they are very friendly, say nice things to us (like how beautiful we are) and let us play while we are waiting to see Dr. Norsworthy. We think the boarding facility is a pretty nice hotel for cats. We get plenty of space, a nice view (once in a while there is a squirrel in the tree outside our window), whatever food Mom has ordered and lots of love from the kennel attendants. Our Mom likes this place because Dr Norsworthy is so smart. He helped Tosca survive all kinds of old age problems and he is keeping Lohe healthy and happy (and alive) even though he has a bad heart disease. Dr. Norsworthy and his team are the best around. I have regularly boarded my cat (Attila) there for about 7 years and no where else. The staff is very friendly and it is very obvious they have a deep care for animals. I can actually say that I owe my cats life to Dr. Norsworthy. He underwent a major operation several years ago and though it was very traumatic for me, his team was wonderful. Personal phone calls with updates on how he was doing and accommodating my drop by visitations... there was a personal touch that really made the difference in a very difficult situation. Dr. Norsworthy treats those wonderful felines regardless of whether they purr while being examined! His staff is not afraid of a hiss or growl and provides the best care for the cat. Dr. Norsworthy has cared for our succession of cats for at least 30 years, since long before the Alamo Feline Health Center opened. In all that time, he has provided exceptional care for them, sick or well. His broad knowledge of feline maladies has saved our cats when they were ill and preserved the health of those that were doing well. He is recognized in his profession as an international authority, a recognition that is well deserved, and with the Center he has been able to offer care focused on cats. The personnel are knowledgeable, friendly, and ‘cat-oriented’, and are gentle and kind in every respect. We have referred others to the Center, and in every instance they have been delighted with the care they received. When we have boarded our cats there they have been well cared for, and we have been kept well informed of their condition and able to visit them at any time. A kitten we adopted from the Center eight years ago has recently had a serious problem, and his life has been saved by Dr. Norsworthy’s expertise. I have patronized Alamo Feline Health Center for several years. We always use their Boarding Service. My cat was a feral cat for many years, it took almost 7 years for her to let me pet her. When we started using the boarding service, what a surprise I was in for. My cat came home happy and relaxed, like she just got back from the Bahamas!!!! As the owner of 6 cats with multiple medical issues, this totally feline facility has provided my furry family with the absolute best care possible. Dr Norsworthy and his team are the highly trained and compassionate caregivers that keep my special companions healthy and happy. Having experienced both raising newborn kittens with bottlefeeding and helping numerous older (15+ years) cats make a graceful and comfortable exit from this life, Alamo Feline has always been there to help with their care. No matter what the situation, his team always follows up to check on their ""patients"" to make sure that everything is going well and to see if there are any questions.
