I had an awesome experience bringing my little brothers puppy here last night, the puppy was attacked by another dog and he wasn't doing too well, but thank God this clinic has flexible hours and I made it out just in time for the puppy to get treated. He was seen in less than 10 mins the vet who is very diligent got right to the problem and I also have to say the price was very reasonable and our puppy is doing so much better today he was actually able to stand up and walk and wag his tail. I have 8 cats and used to have more, sadly my girl Perlita died from cat distemper, she gave birth to 5 kittens and 3 died, many cats can't survive distemper. My boy Panchito, his 3 older babies and 2 of the new born ones survived this disease thanks to the cat specialist at this clinic, Dr Taylor helped me save the rest of my family. She also performed a quick, clean surgery on Panchito, so now he is fixed! I will not look around anymore this is my place, they have reasonable prices, plus a pharmacy inside the clinic, they don't over charge you. I'm sure if I would have brought my Perlita to them earlier insted of taking her to Banfield clinic, she would still be alive. They overcharge so much at other places and don't care at all for your pet as a member of your family, This clinic treat you as a parent with a child. Read Less

I took my dog to get groomed and he came back with an ear infected. I took him back to the clinic and i was getting charged triple of what i had paid for grooming. They mess his ear up and they want to charge an exagerated amount. So disappointed!! This is not the first time they mess up, the first time i let it go but not again. Read Less

I have a six year old cat who got sick and I have no idea what happened (indoor kitty I am 70 yrs old limited income I begged them to see my cat and let me pay them 50 a month. I am on 1200 ss and that's it. First they said no then they called me back. I got a ride for me and Sparrow . We see the vet for maybe 3-4 minutes, who never introduced himself. Most of the visit was with tech. They said he had a high fever and some pain needed to do xray and blood work. I said fine. Tech brings bill in about 200. I said fine I just need 4 months to pay it off. He came back and said no. So they gave him a pain shot and antibiotic....that is treating symptoms not what is wrong. I should have kept calling other vets to find someone to work with me. This vet whatever his name is willing to let my cat die rather than let me work out money. Horrible. I wish I could give it 0 stars. I found an injured stray so I looked up the closest vet clinic to my job. I took the stray straight there and explained the situation to the receptionist. While I waited to be seen, the staff never offered food or even water for the poor stray. Then once the dog and I were in the room, I said "Hello doctor" to the vet and he didn't respond, he not once acknowledged me through the entirety of the exam. The vet even baby talked to the stray saying "did you get wacked by a car? Did a car wack you huh?" as if it were a joke. I found that to be very inconsiderate and inappropriate. The veterinarian then left the room and the vet assistant proceeded to tell me what treatment and meds the Dr. recommended but did not give me details as to why each medication was being prescribed. Please do not take your animals here! While the condition of my pet matters in this case, the lack of attention and skilled staff at this institution is what makes them negligent and inconsiderate. I knew that my pet could not be treated immediately, but I assumed that once they evaluated his condition, he would be treated as an emergency. While in the examination room, he had a seizure, a clear sign that he needed medical attention immediately; however, the paraveternianry workers lacked the skill needed to asses his condition and alert the veterinarian. After a 15 minute wait (keep in mind, my dog had a seizure), the veterinarian finally appeared, only to ask me if I knew what was wrong with my pet, and to inquire what conditions he was kept in- even having the audacity to ask if I kept illegal drugs in my home, and if that affected my pet. At this point, out of desperation, we opted to accept their treatment plan, after all, we did not have knowledge of how our pet should be treated in this situation. The bill came out to be a whopping $400, which included IV fluids, and an "overnight stay". I assumed that the "overnight stay" would be that- an almost 6-10 hour stay to monitor his condition, but upon further inquiry, I was told that he would only stay until 4:40 P.M.- 20 minuted before their closing time, which I was still being charged $45 for. Once again, out of desperation, we accepted this proposal. We left him there with the hope that once we came back, he would be ok, only to come back to a worse situation. 5 minutes before their closing time, I received a call, and I was told that we had the option to leave him overnight or pick him up within the 5 minutes before they closed. We opted to asses his condition to make the best decision. Once we were there, they took a while to bring our pet to the lobby, but once they brought him, we noted that his condition was now worse than before. We verified that he was able to stay overnight, only for the secretary to inform us that we could, but nobody stayed to monitor the animals after closing. We decided to take him to an emergency center, but we were told that the veterinary would explain his condition, something that DID NOT happen after 10 minuted of waiting. A paraveterinary worker "diagnosed" him with "problems with his brain". Once we decided to leave, we began to search for better services, but unfortunately, about 10 minutes after sitting in our car in front of this animal hospital, our dog died. Read Less

Never take your dog here! My mother in law brought her dog in that had diarrhea and they did a test and said she had parvo which kills puppies. Charged $250 for some medicine and dewormer (which is what the dog actually needed) and sent them home. The next day the vet that vaccinated the dog was available and said he'd test the dog for free because it was very unusual for a fully vaccinated dog to contract this illness and that if indeed she did have it the vaccine manufacturer would pay for the treatment. This vet said that the dog absolutely did not have parvo and he had no idea why they would tell us that she did. We went back up here and asked for my mother in laws money back and they refused. They said they would refund $37 for the test and that was all, we asked why they gave dewormer for a parvo diagnosis because the other vet said this all sounded very strange and just to be a smartass she said well I didn't charge for that so I'll refund you that too. SHE DIDN'T CHARGE FOR THAT BECAUSE THEY LIED AND CHARGED MY MOTHER IN LAW 10X MORE THAN IT SHOULD HAVE COST. I told everyone in that clinic what they did and that they need to get their dog out of there. I'm also contacting the news to see if they are interested and I figured I would let anyone else that was thinking of taking their pet here know too. Edit: A friend of ours told us that they have done this to them too and that the original veterinarian here passed away and would not have allowed this, but since then this is what's been happening here. Alief Animal Hospital was a warm welcoming place when I brought my 10 week old Pomeranian that was sick. I wanted to follow up and make sure that she was getting better and the staff and Doctor were able to help with any questions I had. The visit was average time, everyone was sweet and professional. One star for the office staff and tech as they were all very kind.  I just moved to town and when my otherwise healthy 5 year old dog started having seizures, this was the closest place to me.  As soon as I walked in I was already a little wary as the place absolutely reeked of urine. I was seen quite quickly by the vet tech who was a very nice man.  However, I was concerned that he put my dog on a large metal scale then "lifted" the scale on hydraulics until it was at waist level and left the room.  No safety rails to protect my 70 pound dog and he was being seen for seizures!  He was extremely unstable and falling continuously.  Being high up in the air on a metal plate was not a great idea.  I held him there until another man in scrubs walked in. He did not look at me, introduce himself, or address me in any way. I spoke up and told him that my dog had snuck some cookies Friday night and started seizing Saturday night.  He smirked at me and said "Well, its too late to treat him now". He listened to my dog's heart and lungs and walked out of the room without any further comment.  The tech told me he was going to take my dog out to draw blood and told me to wait in the urine soaked lobby.  My dog was brought back out to the lobby and they started printing up discharge paperwork for me!  I was a little confused about what was happening so I said, "Is there a vet who will be seeing my dog?"  The tech replied that the vet was the man who came in the room and listened to my dog's heart.   He did not assess his gait, his eyes, his gums, no neuro eval....nothing!  I paid my $25 and walked out.  My dog is now hospitalized at the Emergency Pet Hospital in Katy receiving treatment.  Yes, Alief Animal Hospital is cheap. But you get what you pay for, folks.  If you care about your pet, take them someplace that the "doctor" will actually assess and treat your animal.  FYI the supposedly licensed vet was named Hofstetter.  Avoid at all costs. It's a shame that an Alief icon has fallen. Took my dog for a visit today and had such a poor experience overall that I feel the $25 office visit was wasted. To me, it felt more like they were interested in presenting me with an invoice for services that they wanted to perform, rather than being concerned for my animal. DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!!! This place is terrible. This review is a long time coming....  we brought our beloved golden retriever here to have a biopsy done on what appeared to be a tumor. Our dog had the procedure done and was sent home bleeding and barely conscious. Shortly after getting her home she passed away. I blame this animal "hospital " for killing my dog. They had no clue what they were doing they did not preform the procedure properly and prematurely discharged her. I hold this place personally responsible for killing my dog. They're a bunch of halfwit murderous vets who do not know what they are doing!!! AVOID! Read Less

I've been going to this vet with my pets since the late 90's early 2000. I have always gotten good pet care there. Little hot inside the building sometimes. Very reasonable. I have seen ownership change since i started for the first time in late 90s . So far so good. I live in Katy area and travel to Alief Animal Hospital monthly..thats a good drive. For more serious issues i would probably get a second opinion just like you would do for a human...common sense..we are talking about your pet also known as your family.. Read Less

RIP Kelly 2013-2017. Cause of death? Poisoning by medicine prescribed by vets here at Alief Animal Hospital. It infuriates me this vet clinic has so many good reviews. I understand not everyone has had a bad experience but as responsible pet owners we should understand these type of clinics need to be shut down. Before I sent my mom here with her 3 year old cat Kelly I didn't fully read the reviews only saw the good ratings. So she brings Kelly here (05/02/17) with an infected cat bite on his paw, they shoot him up with 3 different types if antibiotics and still send prescribed antibiotics home. Kelly was doing better after leaving this vet my mom made it home and was happy to see Kelly was eating better and looking better. At 8pm, my mom gives him his first dose of prescribed antibiotics. A few minutes after that Kelly starts foaming at the mouth and writhing in pain. My mom rushes back to Alief Animal Hospital not realizing they where the main cause Kelly was dying. I met her there and right away asked if the medicine could've cause it only to be told by the practitioner "maybe" but we'll see how he does overnight if he still looks sick bring him back and we'll start a further treatment(quoted at $450.00) well sadly Kelly did not make it overnight, he started cramping at his stomach and had pale gums and pain at any simple movement and sadly passed away at 3am. Having witnessed an animal poisoning before, my mom and I were able to tell right away what was wrong with Kelly. We should have looked further but my mom thought this was the best choice since she was worried Kelly would get worse before bringing him here. We where wrong! Kelly came here only needing light treatment and antibiotics. He received a deathly dose of antibiotics that his poor little body couldn't handle. I really hope people take the time to read this review and other similar stories and stay away from this deadly vet clinic. Go to Emancipet where they have LOW cost services as well and your beloved pet runs no risk at being poisoned by malpractice of these vets at the DEADLY Alief Animal Hospital. STAY AWAY and look for other options!! Houston is full of places where your furbaby won't be slowly murdered by wrongly prescribed medications. RIP Kelly beloved family cat. Great place ! Just make sure to ask before you get extra stuff done if you're on a budget. Other than that, Prices are very reasonable and staff is very friendly.. my poor dog was so nervous he passed gas... I was so embarrassed!! But they kept their cool and place is very well kept and cleaned after each animal leaves the rooms. I walked in with with my pooch who had a terrible skin allergy and flea infestation. he was given meds, treatment, he's happier than ever ! Highly recommend! My dog had eaten raisins (that I didn't realize were accidentally dropped on the floor). I read online that they were SUPER toxic to dogs. I called Alief and spoke to someone about it right away. It was an hour before they closed and they said if I could get her in in half an hour they could see her. I got her there 45 minutes before closing. They saw her right away. They induced vomiting, gave her activated charcole, antibiotics, and a bath because she vomited all over herself. They also gave me antibiotics to take home with us. I really love this animal hospital! I've taken my dogs here to get neutered, spayed and had a hernia repair on my dogs and the surgeries were always a success. The doctors are very knowledgeable and the prices here are reasonable too! I've been to other vets and they are not as good as this one! Definitely recommend you taking your dogs here! I am really shocked about all the bad reviews this place has gotten.I've been here twice so far. Once I had a chicken bone scare because my dog stole a whole plate of chicken. They were very thorough with the examination and even showed me her xrays to explain what was going on inside her body.The second time I came was for a heat rash. I went in very early when they first opened, but the doctor was not there. They let me leave her for no charge and the doctor examined her while I went to work and picked her up later that afternoon.I have been to probably 5 different pet clinics in Houston and this one I like going to because there's never really a wait and the low prices. The staff has always been friendly to me and my dog. It's not a very posh clinic, but you get what you pay for and it's in Alief! Read Less

I cannot express how frustrated I am dealing with this place. Almost every time I called I am asked to hold, and 99% of the time it's over 10 minutes. I am working during the day and I cannot hold longer than that, so I hang up, when I call later and I am asked to hold again. If you care about your baby, go somewhere else! Read Less

I called 3 times and those three times they put me on hold. I came in the building and there was nobody there. It literally took me about 1-2 hours to get inside the room and talk to the doctor. My dog has some type of wound, but the doctor doesn't say what's going on. He basically just told me that my dog needs surgery and doesn't even tell me why my dog needs surgery. I recently rescued a german shepherd female dog that had a Skin allergy. A couple of my friends actually bring their pets here and they told me I should bring my dog here. I brought her in today and I was actually pleased with the way both I and my dog were treated. The vet and the vet tech were actually really helpful in giving me information about her breed and what I should expect. I really liked how wonderful the whole staff was I will definitely be coming back with my dog! Read Less

Don't EVER bring your dog here for grooming!!! They are so close to my house that I wanted to try them out. Well, my sweet corgi who LOVES everybody GROWLED at Eduardo when I went to pick her up. She was started crying the moment she saw me. He was probably very rough with her. He told me he brushed her out and my car has more fur than when i dropped her off that morning. Once I got home, I immediately found a flea on her!?!?!? WTF??? What kind of place is this??? Eduardo -- YOU SUCK BALLS!!! The hospital is disgusting, smell awful and literally pee everywhere. My poor husky gotten spay there came back extremely dirty, i feel like they had roll her in mud after the surgery. Not to mention where her stomach stitches there were dirt pee and poo all over near the fresh stitches. The only positive thing about this place is the price, which i must say is pretty low. If there was a lower star I would add the lower star. I have had the worst customer service I have ever had and unfortunately their terrible service affects my pets life.  I have called for 3 days in a row trying to get a prescription filled. I have spoken to Dr Johnson since Monday and she approved the prescription but she is not signing the fax to release the prescription to my online pharmacy. I have called for 3 days and they keep placing me on hold for 15 minutes or more only to come back to say the Dr needs to sign the form.  They keep transferring me from Jimena the receptionist who has no idea what is going on because she is in the front but the other vet assistants just keep transferring the call. We LOVE Dr. Tamas. We followed him from a previous clinic. He was the ONLY vet (of 15 and Gulf Coast) to properly diagnose my cat! He loves animals and people! Last week we had to put my 19 year old cat (the one he diagnosed) and Dr. Tamas was great with her and us. As long as he practices he will be our vet.Read Less

I've been taking all 3 of my dogs here and I absolutely love it there. I can see where some people can say the Doctor can be a bit rude. but he knows what he's doing and the staff very friendly. they have two vets DR. Tomas is friendlier. I like them and they know what they are doing and their rates are very affordable plus every single time we only wait like 5 minutes and we are out. I would recommend this vet to anyone.Read Less

See google reviews. Vet does not show to have a desire to help hurt animals. Would not even take a look at very injured kitten to advise if the kitten was okay to go home for the night or need emergency help. I took my dad's beloved doggie to get her teeth cleaned at Alief Animal Hospital last week. They did a fantastic job and only charged me $75.00. Most places charge $150.00 or more. I'm taking my own dog this week for her dental cleaning. No stinky doggy breath this Christmas! I thought Dr. Tomas was very nice. I think he owns the clinic. Read Less

These guys had my records messed up by having my dog assigned to another owner, although I had asked them to correct it twice already. Then I tried to buy heartworm and flea preventative online, but this clinic refused to ""authorize"" it, instead trying to force me to buy it from them at a higher price. Then when I told them they ripped me off with too high a price before, they tried to extort a $5 fee from me to fax back the authorization form to the online retailer I wanted to buy from (who had a lower price with shipping and all included). My first experience with this vet was in 1998 when I moved in this area. My cat was seeing a very highly outstanding vet and staff and I did not trust him to see anyone else, but due to the distance of the old vet's location, I had to start taking him here. My only concern and with others is how good of care would they provide my cat. When my cat became ill in 2008 due to kidney failure, during this time I realized that he was and always had been under the best of care. Dr. Federick and his staff, particular Cat is wonderful! Sadly my cat passed, but I never forget how the staff cared for him and me. I now have two wonderful cats and this is definitely a place I will gladly add to trust to take care of my cats. Read Less
