Dr Griggs is the best! Her asst calm my poor kitty , they were amazing . My cat was mistreated at the shelter I got him from over 8 yrs ago and is very defensive. I’m over protective of him. Over the years I have used othere vets but after I first took my dogs to Forest West, I have used them exclusively. I have now been going to Forest West Animal Clinic for over 15 years and would not take my girls anywhere else. Both Dr. Tinkey and Dr. Griggs are excellent and caring vets. You just found the very best vet clinic. I am the third generation of my family to use this clinic (25+ yrs). Over the years they have treated 12 of our cats and dogs. I tried others when I moved away or was out of town and noticed the difference. All of our pets have routinely exceeded their typical life expectancy due to routine health care and excellent treatment when illness occurred. I could talk about their referrals to Gulf Coast or their consults with A&M or them going to my mother home to give her dog an IV, etc. etc. You should base your opinion on your visit, not one post on the web. My lab mix (50lbs) is now 16 and near the end. I now drive 186 mi. each way to this clinic because of their level of care and expertise. I find their prices to be a real value for the service received as we typically get what we pay for in life, so I strongly disagree with other comments. Staff are very friendly and compassionate. Reasonable prices as well for services. I unfortunately had to switch vets because Forest Vet was too far for me but they were really expedient and helpful about gathering all my dog's medical records and getting them sent to my current vet. Only downside was the neighborhood in which it's located...very shady looking place. Also the waiting area is quite small. Otherwise this is a quality vet to take your pets to. Read Less

Was referred here after my vets office was damaged in flood.. Took my 11 year old for pyometra surgery... pyometra is a life threatening disease and surgery was the only option. Bc of a previous horrible surgery experience years ago that resulted in my fur baby’s death, I was terrified and nervous about this. But the entire staff is amazing, friendly and helpful. I LOVE Dr. Griggs and her staff! I had to take my Bengal in 12 days ago due to losing weight (9 lbs) within 6 months and having an occasional seizure. I took him 4 months ago to an emergency animal clinic and they did not listen to what I was attempting to tell them. All they were concerned about was racking up my bill by insisting that he had a back injury and needed and CT & MRI. Yeah no. So I ended up here on the recommendation of my co-worker and I am so happy that I listened to her! Dr. Griggs listened to me explain the last 6 months so we started with blood work and a couple of antibiotics and probiotics until the results came in. The next day she called and said that he has hyperthyroidism and had the pills ready for me to pick up. When I got home with the new medication I noticed that her staff SPLIT all his thyroid meds so that they can be ready to give him, without me having to stress how to cut a TINY pill. His follow up was very good also. She is very caring, listens and is super gentle with my cat. Other vets in the past have been very rough and he in turn will bite them. Read Less

This is a great clinic. Brought my kitty here in the 90's. Did such a great job when I got my new puppy and kitten decided to look them up to see if they were still around. Obviously I'm not the only person that feels that this clinic is a fine establishment to take your pet because they're still in businesses and I know why... the office staff (Michelle) is very nice and along with the rest of the doctors they actually care about animals. Took my dog here for the first time for an ear infection. The receptionist was very friendly and knowledge. She fit me in even though i did not have an appointment. I did end up waiting for over an hour to see the vet. he was very thourgh and gave my dog a full exam. The vet techs were also very nice. They gave my dog lots of affection and treats and he loved it. I got the medications he needed but thought the price was a little high. Read Less

I found this place by accident recently when my sweet kitty was urgently ill. The entire staff was so understanding, helpful and acted immediately and professionally. Although my darling Taco kitty didn't make it, I appreciate and am very grateful to Dr. Griggs and the entire staff. I've been taking my babies to Forest West for almost ten years, even though from Montrose it is quite a drive to get to Pinemont & Antoine. But I could never bring my four-legged children anywhere else. Dr. Griggs is a compassionate, very talented surgeon--she successfully spayed a kitty whose bladder was fused to her uterus. The prices are the most reasonable in town, and the staff is great! The techs know all my pets by name, and the clinic will work you in in case of emergency. You NEVER walk out feeling raped, and Dr. Griggs never tries to pad the bill by adding things your pet doesn't really need. I could never go anywhere else! Read Less

Brought a pup I rescued off the streets. Service was great. Dr. Griggs was kind, compassionate and showed how much she cares for animals, whether they are yours or a rescue. She gave a thorough overview of the dog's health, gave practical suggestions and fair quotes for the treatments or services. They also respect the client by encouraging but not pushing services. We saw Dr Griggs for our regular heart worm checkup-she was wonderful.    You can't tell how wonderful they are just by looking at this place.  It is in a very divey looking shopping center-Oak Forest.  The vet's clinic just reads Animal Clinic on the sign and is in the same shopping center as subway and a few other hodgepodge stores.  Definitely a don't judge a book by it's cover sort of thing.  Everyone was friendly and the vet was really lovely.  The price of the heart worm medicine was much cheaper than other places, too. Dr. Donna is the best vet ever. She always seems very concerned for your pets, it isn't just a business. We have been going to her for maybe 15 yrs now and she has always been great. We have been taking our pets to Dr Griggs since about 1998. They always know our names and our pet's names, but the best part is the excellent vet & staff, that our pets like too. That is critical for us, not do they recognize me. My family has always had pets. I'm 67 and have seen many vets in many cities. I feel that Dr Griggs & staff are top notch. Not all are. Very reasonable and very friendly. Its a small location which is great if you like a more personal experience versus feeling like a number. Its very convenient if you're in the neighborhood.
