I called to have my cat seen. A guy answered the phone and hung up on me twice. The second call I learned his name was Robert. He told me there were no appointments left for the day, which I thought was weird. I waited a bit, called back and a woman answered. She told me there were a few appointments left. I was so mad! My little kitty was uncomfortable and had to wait because of the first guy. I decided to go somewhere else. If this is how the front acts, it makes me wonder about everything else. Read Less

I believe that the doctors and technician's are great, unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about the management. The first time I went to this clinic I thought everything was fine. My dog got a standard checkup and one set of vaccines. I paid for my visit and everything was fine. A month later when I tried to buy nexgard for my dog , the receptionist told me that I had not paid for my visit and still owed $150. After telling her that I had a receipt for my payment she told me everything was fine and that there was a mix up in my dog's paperwork. Everything was not fine though because when my boyfriend went to pick up the medicine they went ahead and charged my account for $150. After some research from me and the clinic we realized the receptionist had put down another dogs information on my account. They not only charged me for my visit which was also around $150, but for another dog's visit. Finally after showing them the receipt, they gave me a refund. I honestly wasn't going to give them another chance after that, but I really like the veterinarian that treated my dog, so I went for another check up. This time I made an appointment and when I went I waited an hour after having checked in and found that they had no recollection of my appointment. I wasn't even supposed to see a vet, it was just for a tech visit. The tech guy was kind enough to talk to a receptionist to get me some sort of discount and a free toy, but honestly I don't want to set foot in that clinic again. It is too chaotic and the management doesn't seem to know what they are doing. Its pretty ridiculous that a veterinary clinic would get their dog patients' paperwork mixed up. I only set foot in there twice and twice they messed up. Find another vet! Read Less

I have had some good experiences here with both my dogs with one or 2 of the vets. Last time I was in however, Dr Albritton quizzed me on my pets "demeanor" in new environments and said the office was a "fear-free" clinic and recommended giving my dog a sedative prior to delivering the flu vaccine! And offered a prescription to an anti-anxiety medication. This was the first time this particular vet had ever seen my dog so I felt it was totally out of line and wayyy off base. I asked her why they push medication if the pet is able to receive the vaccines without aggression and she said any sign of fear is wrong and they should be "calmed down"! I know she had the best intentions but as someone who tries to use the minimum pharmacological intervention necessary I thought it was really bizarre and inconsistent with what my dogs behavior merited. I most likely won't be back or will ask for a different vet on staff next time. Any vet who thinks you should sedate a perfectly normal dog before a single vaccine is not aligned with how I believe animals should be treated/medicated. Read Less

This vet is ridiculously expensive. Suggested that my dog had severe heartworm, and I needed to pay $1400 for treatment. I took her to another vet who told me her case was moderate and charged a total of $345 including additional prescriptions for antibiotics and steroids. In response to the employee's comment below, my dog is Chilli. I'm not interested in discussing further at this point, but to give more information, the list of prospective charges included things like a hospital stay (which I've since read that most vets no longer suggest) and having xrays or ultrasounds (I can't remember which at the moment). I understand that these measures would ensure that absolutely everything possible was learned about my dog's heart worms, but the charges were not presented as optional in any way. Having never dealt with heart worms before, I was pretty much accepting that I wouldn't be able to treat my dog because I couldn't afford that. I would suggest presenting pricing on such treatments in a way that conveys that some parts of the treatment are absolutely necessary, some are simply suggested for better care, and some are above and beyond care. My dog was boarded for about a week and the bill was padded with about $100 in charges for unnecessary medicine and administering that medicine. They had my cell but didn't bother to call. To add insult to injury they charged me for treating my dog for fleas that the dog didn't have. I told the vet that the dog is kept inside and I don't have fleas at home. I have never received such horrible vet care in my entire life, and not just one time, several times. This vet clinic is a joke. That's too bad considering it came highly reccomended by several people I know. I'm not sure what kind of service and care they expect for their animals but I expect alot, regardless of cost. These idiot vets & techs diagnosed my dog with distemper. They didn't do testing to rule out other possible issues, just looked at her and said she had it. They sent me home THREE times with my dog with an extremely high temp (106) and said to ""give her fluids"". How do you give a sick dog fluids when it refuses to drink? On the third visit I literally DEMANDED that they give her an IV or provide another solution. Finally they told me about sub-q injections, FINALLY. Then, they rushed me out like we had the plague. I took her to another vet for (quality) help and to someone who would actually care enough to answer my questions and gie me some real help. This vet said she might only have a minor flu and NOT distemper. The new vet (Westbury) did bloodwork for in-depth testing and a chest x-ray. Heights never even offered these options. They hussled me around the clinic thre times and sent me away with meds each time, none of which helped. It was a complete fiasco. Even the people who work the front desk are unknowledgeable and rude. I swear - I will never EVER take any of my animals there again. I still cannot believe they give such poor quality service. And I say that b/c I have seen all THREE of their shotty vets and they are all terrible. He talked to me, and worked with me to find the right meds for my dogs allergy problems, and didn't require me to bring him back in for a new refills every time. I never had anything seriously wrong with my dog (luckily) so I cannot testify to how they handle that, and I always went first thing in the morning. I've learned that many places are far different late in the afternoon vs. early morning. I wish I could still take my dog here, they were always very good to me and easy on my pocketbook. Read Less

I work in the animal industry, so I know animal healthcare like the back of my hand. I have tried the cheap places(Low Cost Pet Clinic), the expensive places (Pet Vet), and have always gone back here. The staff at the front can be a bit ditzy (write a mixed breed dog in, when you write the whole name of the breed out).. But Dr. Williams and Hendrix have been excellent when we have used them for our dogs. They always give thorough care. Dr. Williams walked in and took ONE look at my dog and knew exactly his ailment. Someone on here repeatedly spreads libel about the clinic, regarding their wonderful dachshund. Dr. Hendrix has cared for my dachshund before and never made a mistake. And I know others who's dogs have been saved by the quick thinking of the vets at this facility. Pets don't die because of the vets, they die because of stupidity by the owners, bad breeding, or natural/contagious disease (again on the part of the owners for not giving preventative care). Don't listen to that fool who keeps saying the stuff she or he says. The only thing is they can be a bit expensive, but not that much more than others. If this place was SO horrible they would have handed me the prescription for the heart worm preventative so I can get it online. But they refused. Why? Because those places are in trouble and they are obeying the LAW, unlike this other libel spreading person. I have been using Heights for years now and have gone other places. As an animal sciences professional they have earned my seal of approval. Read Less

I had the misfortune of losing a cat recently. She was a beautiful outdoor kitty that my neighbor had and I instantly became her new ""friend"". She was attacked by a pack of dogs while trying to protect her kitten. She was rushed to Heights Vet Clinic. They told us she would lose her tail, but would be fine. A few hours later, they told us she had died. No explanation, she simply died. They filled her little body with fluids and had her packed in a box. It was horrible experience. Her kitten was unharmed, but the father of the kitten was also attacked. She had part of his jaw bitten off and had to undergo extensive surgery. We had to take him to another vet and he was fine. Our beloved family dachshund was taken here for vet care for some time. He never had any problems and was always taken in for his annual checkups. He lived with my elderly parents. Back in May of 2007, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. The vet was very hands off and never really monitored his dosage and didn't give them detailed information on what to look for in terms of warning signals. As a result our beloved ""Gentleman"" died two months later. My dashchund was diagnosed with the same thing back in May of this year, but because my vet is ""board certified"" and knows what he's doing, my dog has adjusted to living with this condition with medication and is doing fine. My heart aches to know that if only we had taken Gentleman to a vet that knew what he was doing, he'd still be with us. If you really care about the welfare of your pet, please don't take your pet to Height Vet Clinic. Read Less

I saw some bad reviews about this veterinary office before, but I still took a chance and I thought that the vets were very nice and caring. The vet recommended a new food for my dog's bad hips/knees and it's worked very well. Also, they cleaned her teeth and removed some moles. Not only did they remove the moles that I requested, but they removed the moles all over her body saved a big scary one for biopsy later. The price was very reasonable. I will be going back. When we took our 15 yr old beloved family dog to this clinic as a ""walk in"" to have her put down, the staff was very respectful (they gave us a private room for our family to grieve and say our goodbyes) and very compassionate to the situation. The vet expressed his sorrow and understanding and the vet tech stayed with us (and brought us tissues). The front desk staff brought the paperwork to us (instead of making us do everything at the counter). They were top notch and considering the circumstance, it was a good experience. These people seem to really care about the animals and owners. BTW - our regular vet could not ""see us"" until tomorrow. When your dog hasn't eaten in 3 days and is so weak, the last thing you want to hear is we can't ""see you"" until tomorrow. Heights Vet Clinic will be our new vet when we get another dog! Read Less

I've been with this clinic since 1996 [about], through 5 dogs and have NEVER experienced what reviewer ""heights regular"" described. The vets and all their staff have been caring, attentive, crying with me through the loss of my 3 older dogs and laughing with me at the antics of my now older corgi and young German Shepherd. I moved out of Houston to a semi-remote location and price compared to the closest 2 vet locations, one was $100 more and the other $75 more. It is worth it to me to drive into Houston to have this caring group care for my animals - even had they been higher, I would have stayed with them. Frankly, I have a hard time buying all the negativity that stems from that review. Mistakes occur to be sure - we are all human and even the tiniest almost imperceptible -even if only one- heartworm means treatment is needed. I wonder what the condition of that dog is now and whether there was in fact a heartworm problem. Oh well- we all have different perspectives and I am thouroughly and completely pleased with this clinic. Read Less

I took my dog here. They told me she tested positive for heartworm and that she needed to undergo a ton of pills and be kept kenneled. I went and got a 2nd opinion. They said she didn't have any heartworms at all. It's been about 3 years since my terrible visit to this place and my dog never underwent the needless narcotic rehab or kennelling. If you ask me, it's the staff that need to be kennelled. There was only one butch looking woman who was the kindest of the bunch. They were all rude, gruff and insensitive. I felt they were yelling at me to 'go into this room, go into that room, move your dog, etc...' I won't go back. I figured I'd get more customer service out of a private clinic but nope. Wrong again. I shouldn't have strayed from SNAP where they cuddle my dogs and take the time to be huggie kissie to them and sing to them. So sweet.

The doctors, nurses, and staff are all super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Meelo always enjoys coming here, which is so rare to see with a dog at a vet's office. :) Read Less

Do NOT bring your pet here. Brought my 6 month old puppy here this morning because she was coughing and had serious drainage. Neither the vet tech nor the vet ever looked at her nose, didn't listen to her breathing, did not talk about treating her cough. Instead, they gave her an anti-nausea shot and anti-nausea pills, which makes no sense at all. An hour after we left she started having serious trouble breathing and we had to take her into the emergency hospital. Heights Vet Clinic does not pay attention to detail and did not treat my puppy's symptoms. Extremely disappointed and worried for others. Read Less

I have been going to this clinic for over 10 years with both dogs and cats. They are reasonably priced and no appointments are needed. They don't push you to perform unnecessary tests. Dr. Hendrix recently performed a tumor removal on my dog and did a great job. I highly recommend this clinic for reasonable prices and efficiency. By the way, they are very busy so arriving early is a good idea. I have used Heights Veterinary Clinic for over 12 years. After today I will never use them again. The vet was rude and condescending when I questioned my bill. Dr. Pina sarcastically told me that the dog must have got the fleas walking across the parking lot because they don't have fleas at the clinic. We call the Heights vet clinic and are told that they have a Dr on staff. We had called a couple of clinics first to find out there was no Dr. Available. Upon arrival our dog is now in their care. The staff had a sense of urgency and handled the situation very professionally. We left her for surgery and we were able to pick her up that evening. I took my dog in for an update on shots (it had been a few years) and we were in and out very quickly! Everyone was friendly and my dog - very skiddish and sensitive - did pretty well considering the situation! I also was able to easily purchase flea medication from the front desk. It's a plus for me that it's walk in only, because I'm a student and would rather get-it-done-now than make an appointment, but that's probably not the best format for everyone. It's sad to think how many animals and customers who have not received quality care from this ridiculous place. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! Read Less

I lived in the Heights for a while and always took my dog to the Heights Veterinary Clinic. I like their no appointments policy because I could always be seen quickly, and not have to wait half a day or longer & take off work to get my dog seen. The Dr. was always very friendly, as well as the techs.

Read Less

Read Less
