Jersey Village Animal Hospital

Such an amazing animal hospital, I usually go to vetco on Sundays but this will be my vet from now on. They are very attentive and very nice to my dog they talk all sweet to him and I love that cuz it shows they like animals and they aren't just out to get your money, they actually like their jobs. I've gone in two different shifts and haven't had a bad experience with anyone. The first time they made an appointment for me at 3:30 pm of the same day even though I called very... late. They payed attention to me as soon as I walked through the doors and started working on my dog's medical history right away. The nurse and doctor were very nice and gave me all of my options with price details and everything, and they explained everything to me in a way I could understand it. Explained everything very detailed about his meds and gave him injections right there and then. There was no waiting at all. Second time I went was a different staff team and they were all just as nice, the doctor answered all of my questions and also told me my options and explained several things about pet care. My appointment was for 12:30 but they had told me to arrive a bit earlier so I got there at 11:30 and they sent me to the exam room as soon as I walked in and 5 mins later the nurse was already doing regular testing and weight. The staff is really attentive and the doctors are very good. I would highly recommend this veterinary facility. They do stay open late and also open Sat. After years of trying to get my dog healed and various vet places. Am so pleased my dog is finally well. Thank you! Read Less

Clean and large facility equipped with several exam rooms and plenty of staff. The veterinarians and staff are always very friendly and professional. The fees overall are quite expensive, but I feel our kittens are receiving competent and quality veterinary services at least. Most of all, I truly appreciate that this facility has WEEKEND hours! This is a lovely clinic! We bring our senior dog here for care as well as boarding anytime we head out of town. The doctors are thorough and you can tell they truly care about their patients. When our dog was diagnosed with kidney failure they took the time to explain everything to us and answer our long list of questions. We feel safe leaving him in their hands for boarding and the complementary bath is a nice touch also! Read Less

My dog had a terrible eye injury that was so bad I thought he was going to loose his eye. The doctors at Jersey Village were able to save his eye and his vision! I am so thankful for the wonderful doctors and caring staff. He is back to his happy happy self once again. Read Less

This used to be the best vet. They were always on the pricier side but worth it for the great level of care. Until 2016 that is. I don't know what happened whether they got new staff, management, or what but their standard of care rapidly declined. In July of 2016 I brought my 4 year old dog in for surgery on a broken and infected tooth, she was otherwise healthy. When I picked her up later that day she was limpy, wobbly and off balance but I just assumed it was the anesthesia. The tech mentioned that she was "wild" when she woke up from anesthesia and I thought that was weird because my dog is very sweet and timid, definitely not wild. Later that evening I notice her nails were cut WAY past the quick and assumed that's what was hurting her. Two-three days go by and the limping continues. I bring her back into the vet repeatedly over months asking them what was wrong with her and what did they do to my dog. They didn't know, or wouldn't say. Some of the expenses of the multiple follow up visits they covered, some they didn't. This happened to her while she was in their care! As far as I'm concerned I gave them a healthy dog with a bad tooth and they did something to her. Whether they dropped her, or moved her wrong, or lifted her by her legs, I don't know, but they damaged her knees. In November of 2016 her right ACL ruptured. The following week her left ruptured. She needed full ACL repair on both knees. JVAH claimed it was a genetic disorder completely unrelated to whatever they did to her during her tooth extraction surgery. They refused to pay for anything else. I had to pay over $3500 to repair her knees. I would NEVER advise anyone to take their animals there. In addition to the issues with my girl I also had a rescue dog receiving heartworm treatment from them during this time period. First they scheduled his first injection on a day that it could not be performed. Then when it came time for his second and third injections which are supposed to be given back to back (Tuesday and Wednesday) which they insisted on keeping him overnight for, they messed THAT up too. I called on Wednesday afternoon to see how he's doing and they say great and he'll be ready to pick up in the evening. When I show up to pick him up the doctor comes out and tells me that he never got his second injection, it was missed or forgotten and by the time they realized it it was too late in the day to administer it. So we had to bring him back the following day for the injection he SHOULD'VE received the day before. This place is just NOT worth the hassle. Save your money and don't let the pretty building fool you. This is the WORST vet I've ever been to.Read Less

I do not want my review to be misleading - the dog groomer is very very good. Excellent cuts and wonderful demeanor for grooming! However, the issue is with the veterinary facility wherein she is located. The vets pimp out the groomer! You cannot get your dog groomed unless you pay for overpriced vet services! Example: for my appointment in March they insisted that my dog could not be groomed unless he received a rabies shot - his current shot did not expire until April. I thought I would go ahead and allow myself to be extorted until I was given the price of the shot and vet service to give it - $30 more than my dogs regular vet. I left.The previous time I had him in for a grooming, I incurred nearly $100 in vet services that I did not anticipate. Until the groomer moves to another location, best that you avoid. Read Less

horrible experience... The vet was professional, but is a Quack Vet ! My cat had a fever and was told there was no fever ! he was v v expensive... he did not do anything to help my poor cat ! I took my CAT to another vet and he was feeling better in 1 day.. he was treated properly for his fever, hard stools and slow mobility.. Exceptionally clean , staff is very friendly and professional .. love those vets from LSU ! The Aggies vets are good too :) they take care of our rescues and do an excellent job .. highly recommend .. their hours of operation fit working people's schedules. Dr Ray is the best and has been providing the correct advise and care as our dog suffers with cancer. We moved and still travel across town to see her. Have been to other vets and all of them seem to be annoyed or just don't seem to care. Dr. Ray always shows concern for our loved one! Read Less

I love Jersey Village Animal Hospital! I first found them almost two years ago when we had a horrible experience with an emergency vet. Our dog almost lost her leg because of their lack of care, but JVAH saved her! They weren't sure if they could save her leg, but they did everything they could and after months of work and care she has her leg and uses it without any problems! When I found a kitten a few months ago I was sure to take her there for care. I just took her in to get spayed and she was very well taken care of! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. They took phenomenal care of my sweet Jack and did everything they could to make him feel comfortable and happy throughout the entire exam. The doctor also took the time to explain exactly what was wrong with him and gave me great instructions on how to take care of him to make him better. We've been going to JVAH for about 5 years. We've since moved to the Houston Medical Center, but still make the 40 minute drive to be able to receive the best care for our dogs. Everyone is so great - from the front desk to the tech to the vet. I always trust JVAH and believe that they truly want what is best for our animals. Dr. Stenseng is so patient and caring. I never feel rushed and she takes her time to answer every single question or concern that we have. Their hours are very convenient and it's usually pretty easy to get an appointment within a few days. The office is always really clean, and there's never a long wait. It is a little bit pricy, but I truly believe that it is 100% worth it for the care that your pets receive. Bring your fur babies to JVAH - you won't regret it. Read Less

This is by far THE BEST vet in Houston. I have gone to 5 different clinics in Houston, and I have always gone back to JV Animal Hospital. They do an excellent job taking care of my dogs, and I would trust them for any service. They tell you the truth, and don't try to rip you off for more money... JVAH saved my dog, Millie. She had chewed up a sago palm trying to get a lizard. I made the decision to drive her from Santa Fe for hospitalization. After hours of care, we got Millie back. I can never repay them for the care they gave to her. It was top notch! The doctor called me morning and night to give me updates on her progress. The drive north was well worth the care we received. Hopefully, we will not need emergency care again, but if we do, I will choose the drive to JVAH!! Read Less

I have brought my pets to JV Animal Hospital since they first opened in the old location. Mike Shawhan and his staff are the best and have always taken excellent care of my pets. The Vets and technicians are kind and compassionate and their love for animals is very apparent. I have boarded my dogs there many times and they have been well taken care of. The Vets have cried with me during hard times when a beloved pet became ill in senior years. They are one of the finest vet clinics in the state and I recommend them highly. Read Less

Very nice building! Looks like it would be expensive, but it's pretty reasonably priced considering how professional and knowledgeable all of the staff is. I would trust them 100% with my dog and two cats. Very curtius, considerate, and easy to talk to technicians and doctors.
