End of our relationship! Been coming here for awhile and I have nothing bad to say about the vets but today was the limit with the office staff. Brought my dog in for two shots and an anal gland expression. It was on COVID-19 precautions with a locked door and you had to call in to be seen. My dog went in, all was great. I called in to pay my bill and was quoted $110 for 2 vaccines and an expression. I asked why so much, what cost over $100. She said they charged me two vaccines and an office visit. I said I don't understand why he needs an office visit, I didn't come in for a consult. The woman on the other end raises her voice and starts berating me - ONLY THE VET CAN GIVE RABIES AND YOU WERE CHARGED A VISIT! AND YOU'D BETTER BE GLAD I DIDN'T CHARGE YOU FOR THE ANAL GLAD EXPRESSION! Then she slams the receiver on my ear. Of course...she was willing to wait to slam it on me to get my credit card info. This city has too many vets to have to deal with some harridan who only has the chutzpah to talk to customers like that when they're locked out of the office. Disgusting. If I spoke to my clients like that, I'd be fired. Read Less

VERY DISAPPOINTED in this place. Hubby took our lady pup here for an allergy injection yesterday (related to her paw..). Last night, my husband noticed her eyes were constantly wet and tearing. Today, She has pus coming out of both eyes (as far as we can tell, she is ok otherwise..). At approximately 5:45 pm, we called to request for Ginger to be seen (Meyerland Animal Clinic closes at 6:30p) as it may be related to the injection. My husband called first and spoke with Veronica, who told my husband that they are closing soon and he needs to bring our dog to the emergency room on Wirt Rd. I then called, and Veronica again answered the phone. I explained that we are concerned that our dog may be reacting to the injection they gave her yesterday and asked again if they can accommodate a visit (again, there was still a whole 40 minutes before they closed, we were not told they were booked up, and we could have made it there in less than 10 minutes!). Firstly, there was NO compassionate customer service-- no "I'm sorry to hear what Ginger is going through!", or some other empathetic response, at the very least. Her response was robotic and uncaring, basically telling me Ginger can't be seen because they are almost closing and again referring me to take her to the ER. We have decided 2 things: monitor Ginger tonight and my husband has made an appointment for tomorrow afternoon-- since the injection may be related, see if this place will attempt to help. And then likely NEVER RETURN HERE again, and make sure that our friends and family DO NOT come here with the way we (including poor Ginger puppy..) are being treated. Read Less

I’m really going to take my time to express my feeling because I feel it is necessary for you vets to know that your reason of being a vet may be flaw! To state out flat, May dog died a day after I was sent out your vet, however what I appreciated most was that out of 8 vets I visited (Not exaggerating) your vet was the only one who took more time with me even though I wasent able to afford a single thing from there due to financial situation. What I realized is that; these vets cared less of our beautiful lovely puppies lives and was only worried about THE MONEY!! At one location, an assistance literally just told me to leave if I couldn’t afford it and told be bye! All I could see is the hate in her eye! I would cry harder every time I would leave a vet and was being told the same thing!! This is really a wrong way to treat our pups! But thanks for your time spent with me! You guys have a lovely doctor with the short blond hair! She still came to see my beautiful Luna even though she wasent obligated to because I couldn’t afford it. Sorry for my discription of tour doctor, I was so emotionally disturbed! Read Less

Medium local practice with a very caring staff. This is where we routinely go. They are not an emergency room or full hospital. I highly value animal welfare, and I found it oddly difficult to establish prolonged care at a veterinary clinic in the Houston area for my pets. Part of the reason was my chaotic work/school schedule, but I also felt the veterinary clinics and their clients seemed to be constantly embattled, making for less than satisfactory and reliable encounters. The reason I like Meyerland Animal Clinic and keep returning to them is because of their front office staff. The veterinarians and assistants have also provided consistently effective care, but it's the competency of their front desk that makes my experiences with this clinic great. They're happy, friendly, truly love animals, and are quick to offer help in transporting animals to/from vehicles (a big deal in the Texas heat, particularly since animals can be extremely vulnerable in these temperatures).  Their positive attitudes remain the same, whether on the phone or in person. I've never had to wait long for services, and I just don't feel the same amount of dread as I usually feel when I have to contact this clinic to schedule care and/or follow up. I sincerely hope this culture and environment continues because I've been very satisfied. Read Less

I scheduled an appointment for my 9 week old puppy (shih zhu) to have an examination and health certificate for our flight to Denver. Despite having records of my puppy's vaccination records, they refused to accept them because the breeder gave the vaccinations. They wanted to charge an extra $200 for the vaccines he already had with no explanation of the potential risks to the animal. They stated they "couldn't verify the vaccines were stored correctly". Brought my cat in as a walk-in-new patient, because he was very sluggish and not himself. Being brand new to the area and that it was a Friday afternoon , I did not want to risk a weekend emergency. I had no issue with waiting. My cat was checked over and nothing was found. I was told to watch him and call in the morning if there were any problems. I found an oozing abcess under my cat's right leg on Saturday morning. I called at 9:06 and was told to get him there by 9:30. I did. I knew the Saturday schedule was filled. We were not see until 11:45, but by then, my husband had left to pick up our daughter. When the vet did come in, he looked at the wound, assessed it, had it cleaned up, prescribed antibiotocs and was done. He was very nice. I really liked everyone there. And then I paid. When I questioned paying another office visit, I was told it was the lower priced one, but a different doc. Because the office closed at 12, I was allowed to wait OUTSIDE with my cat on their porch until my family could come back and pick me up - 12:30. Clouds and thunder. The staff did give me a small bottle of water for the wait. I will probably return, because I believe the vets are good, the staff is very nice...this experience was three star. Read Less

I have mostly good vibes and feelings towards Meyerland Animal Clinic.  They have always been accommodating and helpful when it comes to my two cats and dog.  We're huge fans of the front desk personnel as well as the vet technicians (I can never remember her name, but she has the most amazing personality, and my cats and dog love her).  We've mostly seen Dr. Vining and Dr. Rabinowitz.  Both are great, very caring and good with our furbabies, and also very informative.  They truly enjoy their jobs, and I feel like everyone there is very caring and understanding. The only reason I simply cannot bring myself to give this place five stars is because of the prices.  It's definitely seems to be the highest in the area, and I remember this one month where my dog was just not having a good go at it.  We ended up taking her up there three separate times (called each time and was recommended to bring her in), whether it was due to shots or illness in general.  Each time, even though I had been the previous week, I had to pay an office visit.  I understand that you pay every time you come, but I've been to other vets (who charged less), and they've waived office visits for check-ups and whatnot.  I'm not saying I want a free ride by any means, but paying an office visit three weeks in a row seems excessive. While we love the staff and the vets, we're honestly thinking of going elsewhere, because we feel that we can still receive the same care for less.  If you can afford it, Meyerland Animal Clinic is great. It is very unfortunate that I have to write this review. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience and I will not be returning to this clinic. The first strike against this clinic came when my dog had an ultrasound done last April. I had left her there during the day and expected to go over her results when I came in after work. However, when I asked to see the results they told me that they did not keep a record of the films. They charged me $200 and had I no way to know if they even did an ultrasound? Most clinics go over what they find by showing you  the films. Furthermore, why was I not given a cd or a copy of the X-rays to take with me? That way, I  would have a reference point if my dog had any additional  problems?  The next strike against this clinic came when I tried to refill my dog's flea and tick and heart worm medication. I was told that I would need to bring her in because she was due for a heart worm test. I agreed, but also told the representative that it would be great if they could have the other two scripts ready when I came in- that way this would be a quick trip to their office. Besides my dog did not need to be seen by a doctor for flea and tick med or motion sickness meds. I was assured that the scripts would be ready over the phone, however when I got there they were not. I really didn't mind that and figured that everything would be done by the time we finished the test. However, once we finished the test one of the Supervisors informed me that the clinic was out of scripts and that he would be able to call in the script to the pharmacy for me without a problem. I told him that I used 1800 Pet meds and that they already had an order ready and they just needed the approval from the clinic. The Supervisor wrote down the number and told me that he would take care of everything. I left the clinic with the impression that everything was taken care of. However, this morning I got a call from a representative from the clinic who informed me that the scripts were ready and I could come in and pick them up. I told her that I thought that everything had been handled the previous evening. She told me that "calling in scripts" was not the clinic's policy and that I would have to come in and pick up the scripts. There are two things that very troubling about this: 1. How could a reputable animal clinic run out of doctor's scripts? What if there is an emergency? What do they do then? 2. Why was I not informed that this was the case when dealing with a Supervisor the previous evening? Does the Supervisor not know policies and procedures of the clinic? How did he become a Supervisor then? The thing that really made this experience very bad was the fact that when I spoke to the Office Manager Jeff, he tried act as if I was in the wrong. I asked him if he could overnight the scripts to me because it was an inconvenience for me to have to come back into the office. He told me that since I only lived 16 miles away, he didn't think that there was a need to overnight the scripts. Jeff wanted me to just forget that fact that I would have to spend more time and use more gas to come down there as a result of his staff's incompetence. This experience  really makes me think that if  this clinic doesn't have scripts on hand, can't provide films of radiographs  or even care to spend $15 to correct a mistake that their staff has made, should I they trust them with the health of my dog? I will not ever return to this clinic and I would recommend  others to do research before choosing this office. Read Less

I took my new puppy to this  clinic to get her checked out after we adopted her from BARC.  BARC gave us a spreadsheet detailing veterinarians around the city which would offer a free examinations within 3 days of adopting from their organization.  The vet tech Kim and Dr. Rabinowitz were very nice and gave her a pretty thorough examination of our new puppy. Two days later, both of the girls seemed to be  congested and we decided to take them in, considering the new puppy's shelter background.  The examination price for both puppies seemed to be fair and we didn't want to take a chance on the health of either dog.  We took them in and we met with Dr. White and she checked out both girls with a very gentle "pooch-side" manner.   We got an Rx for the girls, paid and we were on our way.  I think we may have found a new vet for both of our girls. This place has great vets and staff!  My dogs are like my babies and I want to make sure they are getting the best care.  I have been to one other vet here (down in Pearland) and they were terrible.  When I moved out of Pearland and back into the city, I was really nervous about finding a new vet but decided this place had decent reviews and it was conveniently located for me.  I am so glad I choose this place for my dogs.  The vets really care and are very social and engaging with your pet.  Dr. White is my favorite!  The vet techs are all so kind and very knowledgeable too.  One time I was their last appointment for the day to get my dog's stitches removed. It turned out it be a little more complicated than we all expected to remove the stitches, but they finally got them out and everyone willing to stay a little late to make sure my dog was comfortable and ok.  I really appreciated everyone being so kind because I felt bad it was so late.  This place will take good care of your pet. We've been in Houston since January and tried this place out first as it was close to us and had good reviews.  First the good:They do seem to care and want to help, but some of the vets there are in and out of the exam room so quick you wonder if they're researching a problem or are just throwing plan A at it and then if that doesn't work you can come back for plan B.We've had some great experiences there and they always have room to get you in the door within the same week it seems, so that's good. The customer service level they provide is quite high.  Whenever I walk in and speak with people in the front, they are always quite helpful and happy to help, which I appreciate. However, two things have popped up as negatives so far, which is why we will not be returning:1)  We have a ferret that we took there for some problems she was having, and they had a doctor in house that specialized in small animals/ferrets.  We were working with her and our ferret's health was improving.  One day, we call up to find out that the vet no longer works there and they have no one on staff that specializes with ferrets.  How about a quick phone call to all customers that have ferrets and small animals to let them know so they can make alternative arrangements *before* they need a vet?  That's only common sense speaking, which I realize isn't common to all...2) They are expensive.  From routine exams to medications they administer, we have found them to be, in some cases, twice as expensive as other clinics.  I understand that normally you get what you pay for, but if that were the case, I would expect to pay a bit less.  Most troubling about this is the high cost of medications we have seen here.  When I can turn around and get the exact same medication at other clinics for half as much, it makes me ask the question of how much profit is this place trying to make vs. how much do they care about their clients.Like I said, they have been good in some circumstances and bad in others.  If you're new in town and just need a vet to get to quick...I wouldn't hesitate for some quick, albeit expensive, triage.  However, take some time and look at some of the excellent clinics that are around Houston that provide higher levels of care for a lower cost. We have used Meyerland Animal clinic for so many years. My pets have seen many of their vets and every one has been attentive, professional and caring. They always take time to explain what is happening and draw pictures for assistance. We recently had our precious dachshund at the vet for a very serious illness and she was close to death. Dr. Inman, Dr. Werner and Dr. Vining all spent some time with us at different moments. They each gave tender assessments of bad news with full explanations. The present end of the story is that our sweet Emma turned the corner and celebrated her 15 birthday with us. There are many vets that are closer to where we live, but the care and concern and relationship we have with Meyerland is well worth the drive. We also want to mention that when there was a costly test or procedure that was possible, they included us in the decision without forcing expensive items to our surprise. They offered written estimates of total cost of treatment. When Emma had to be hospitalized they encouraged us to visit her any time we liked. We did and it was good to spend that time with her especially thinking she was not going to survive. The entire staff was welcoming and spoke of her and what happened throughout the day, also encouraging us. Over the past 35 years there have been nothing but good experiences for me. I highly recommend them and know you will feel the warmth we always have. Read Less

I don't even know how to write this review because I don't want to give them a negative rating, but I do have some mixed feelings about their services. I went to this clinic because I moved to the area. They were very nice on the phone and their website is very helpful. You could always get an appointment for the same week, which is a plus. They also stay open late some days of the week. The first time I went was for some shots my dog needed and the heart worm test/medication. They were quick and the Vet was very nice. They discovered some fleas on my dog and immediately took care of it. They even recommended the type of "bomb" I should use to sanitize my apartment. Thankfully I was going to be out of town that weekend and did it right then. The second time I went because my dog was having some issues with his right hind leg. They checked him and gave me a diagnosis and some anti-inflamatories. The vet suggested my dog not run for some time (I discovered that's pretty much impossible). I also let them know that I was given a 10lb heart worm pill and it was making my dog sick. Since my dog is only 6lbs it was determined that I was given the wrong dosage during my last visit. OK, it happens, plus they gave me a new box of the correct dosage at no cost (not that I would have paid!!). At this point I am not 100% sure about them, but went back when my dog's little leg didn't get any better. They took some x-ray of the leg and he let me know that he indeed has "Laxating Patella." It pretty much means that his little knee comes out of the socket, but he's stage one so it goes back in on its own. He suggested my dog have surgery and referred me to a surgeon. Once I got home I researched the condition and realized that for stage 1 (which is the stage my dog is in)surgery is the last resort. Every single website I went to recommended supplements such as glucosamine and also to allow the knee to rest. My issue is that the Vet was too quick to determine my dog needed surgery. I was not given handouts about the condition or anything to inform me of what was going on, Just a referral. I went back some time later to pick up the heart worm medication and asked one of the people behind the counter about alternatives to surgery. She told me her dog had the same condition and recommended a medication, which is actually a supplement. She went to the back and spoke to one of the doctors and he agreed. I purchased it and my dog is currently taken it daily. She explained that even with the medication my dog will most likely eventually suffer from Arthritis, which sucks but is good to know I believe Meyerland Clinic does care about their canine patients. As a person who never owned a dog until last year, I just don't feel they go the extra mile to help me understand what is going on with my dog! I asked questions after the x-ray but I've never been through this before, I didn't even know what to ask! A little literature about the condition would have been great. I think they are a good clinic, but I am really looking for a Vet who would be more informative and understanding of a new pet owners ignorance. Don't get me wrong I may go back for some things, but I will continue my search for the RIGHT Vet for my dog. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

I am giving one star since I can't give zero. Being new in the neighborhood, I stopped by to purchase some Advantage topical flea care for my cat. I was in a rush and needing to get this today before I went in to work. I was rudely told by the receptionist that they couldn't sell me anything for fleas without examining my cat. I have never been told this by any other vet clinic, and I have had cats for years. I know what a flea looks like, and I know my cat has them. Read Less

Read Less

I really recommend this Vet. They were polite, caring, and very professional. I took my new doggie there that I got from the pound and she had a few medical problems. The Vet (Dr. Bryant) diagnosed the problems easily and recommended a couple other things that made sense anyway. I never felt like I was being manipulated into any unnecessary treatments or additional costs. They have 6 Vets on staff so it is very easy to get an appointment and emergency hours as well. And Im saving the best for last: The price was EXTREMELY affordable!! Read Less
