Katy Freeway Location Tests the VetScope
We are currently testing an advanced diagnostic scope in one of our hospitals. Pet Vet plans to test this equipment for several months before adding it to all of our hospitals. The VetScope is an instrument that helps the doctor to closely examine the ears and teeth of your pet. With this device, our veterinarian can easily view the eardrum on a large monitor making a diagnosis easier and discomfort for your pet minimal. Additionally, complete dental records can be created for your pet with instant photographs from the VetScope for complete up-to-date medical records.
Tono-Pen Test for Glaucoma
Our hospitals are equipped with a hand-held precision instrument used to measure pressure within the eyes of your pet to test for glaucoma. The test is simple and can be done, in most cases, during a regular office visit. Glaucoma is a disease that causes increased pressure in the eye and can lead to blindness if not detected early.
Ultrasound Technology Comes to Pet Vet
We provide in-house ultrasounds on an as needed basis by a trained sonography technician. Ultrasound technology can help our doctors in diagnosis and treatment in a variety of areas - keeping your pet healthy.

Dr. Rutledge and his team are great people. Though some procedures may seem pricey, and they are. I expressed how much I cared for my pet, and unfortunately I could not spend hundreds of dollars every day for my dog to get well. He helped me explore alternative routes, and he used his years of experience to help deduce and diagnose my dog the best he can. I am really grateful for his kindness and his team for watching out for me and my dog. I will definitely be coming back. If you also have issues with your pet, and unsure who to go to, Dr. Rutledge is the man.

We had a dauchshund with a spine problem and Dr. Rutledge was great. He understood that we did not have unlimited resources, but that we cared for our pet. When we called into the office or after hours, he was never in a hurry, but always very concerned. As things progressed, he told us how our dog's behavior would change in order to cope with her injury. He was right.

I've been visiting Mission Bend Animal Clinic since 1983. Dr. Rutledge is a wonderful veterinarian, who has seen all of my pets through my childhood to my adulthood. His sidekick Pedro, is awesome too. At times, when we had emergencies, Dr. Rutledge always squeezed us in. I've also seen Dr. Khan too, and she is very knowledgable and loving toward my girls that she had examined. The staff is great! I'd recommend Dr. Rutledge to anyone looking for a great vet!

I absolutely love Dr. Rutledge! I've been taking my oldest dog to Mission Bend Animal Clinic since I adopted him 10 years ago from the SPCA. I trust Dr. Rutledge's judgment completely. He's been in the business for quite a while and he knows his stuff. He has wonderful tableside manner and listens to all your concerns. He is never in a rush and he gives you plenty of opportunity to ask questions. His office staff is wonderful and caring and they're great at making last-minute/urgent appointments (if you're an established patient, not sure about new patients). I will always go to Dr. Rutledge for my veterinary needs.

He has spent quite allot of time educating and explaining options - always cognizant of my disability status and my need to save money. When the time did come to let go; to let my pet cross over to the Rainbow Bridge -Dr. Rutledge always told me what was best for my pet - not always what I wanted, but he cared enough to tell me the truth, even when it hurt like hell. We bring our dogs and cats to Dr. Rutledge all the way from Missouri City, because he's simply the best vet we've found.We have four labs, and we've brought them to Dr. Rutledge for various reasons (shots, exams, injuries, etc.) and every time he absolutely amazes us with his knowledge, his caring, and his cost-consciousness. Because, in reality, cost is a factor when caring for an animal. And he always chooses the treatment that is the best for the dog and the best for our wallet. Perfect example: one time we discovered my dog had a deep puncture wound on her inner thigh from jumping onto a upturned twig. It was 9pm took her to the Emergency Vet, they performed a basic debridement, gave her a shot of antibiotics and pain meds then gave me an estimate to complete her treatment: over $700 in surgical procedures and tests. I said 'no thanks' and took her to Dr. R. the next morning, and he said, "It's deep but surgery to clean it isn't necessary and it'd be too expensive, so I'll give you a cleaning solution, do it 2x per day for 5 days and I'll check her then." Total cost: $86. This is typical, when my other lab got a deep gash on her ear, he stitched it up, wrapped it up, gave me antibiotics for under $100... and then had me come back every 2 days for a week so he could check and re-wrap it... free of charge! I wish I could give him 10-stars, because he's worth it.

My wife and I just adopted a rescue puppy from CAP and took our new little furry family member for a check up, heartworm and shots with Dr. Rutledge. I can honestly say I chose this clinic because of the excellent reviews from various websites and what can I say; his clinic/staff does live up to their legendary reputation. They ask a lot of questions to get to know the pets behavior, they answered all my questions, they take their time during examination, and they are very gentle and friendly (as well as affordable!).
They have a new patient for life and in the future I will refer anyone and everyone to take their pets to experience this wonderful clinic!

Because, in reality, cost is a factor when caring for an animal. And he always chooses the treatment that is the best for the dog and the best for our wallet. It was 9pm and Dr. R was closed so we took her to the Emergency Vet, they performed a basic debridement, gave her a shot of antibiotics and pain meds then attempted to sell me over $700 in surgical procedures and blood workups to address the wound. Said 'no thanks' and took her to Dr. R. this morning, he says, ""It's deep but surgery to clean it isn't necessary and since we can get the same results much more simply and cheaply, so I'll give you a cleaning solution, do it 2x per day until Friday and I'll check her then."" Total cost: $86 (including antibiotics). Any other vet would have tried to sell me unnecessary surgeries to jack up the bill even though a cheaper treatment is just as effective. This is typical, when my other Lab got a deep gash on her ear, he stitched it up, wrapped it up, gave me antibiotics all for under $100 ($70 of which was for the pills which he has no control over)... and then had me come back every 2 days for over a week so he could check and re-wrap it with clean bandages, and then removed the stitches... all free of charge! I wish I could give him 10-stars, because he's worth it.

I have a new puppy! His name is Randy and he is a 6 month old Minature Poodle. Dr. Rutledge will be Randy's doctor too. Dr. Rutledge made such an impression on my 11 year old grandson 4 years ago that he now wants to be a Vet....like Dr. Rutledge. If you love your animals...this is the place for you!

We had a dauchshund with a spine problem and Dr. Rutledge was great. He understood that we did not have unlimited resources, but that we cared for our pet. When we called into the office or after hours, he was never in a hurry, but always very concerned. As things progressed, he told us how our dog's behavior would change in order to cope with her injury. He was right.

I've been visiting Mission Bend Animal Clinic since 1983. Dr. Rutledge is a wonderful veterinarian, who has seen all of my pets through my childhood to my adulthood. His sidekick Pedro, is awesome too. At times, when we had emergencies, Dr. Rutledge always squeezed us in. I've also seen Dr. Khan too, and she is very knowledgable and loving toward my girls that she had examined. The staff is great! I'd recommend Dr. Rutledge to anyone looking for a great vet!

Dr. Rutledge and Pedro are caring, gentle and most of all HONEST. The prices are great. As consumers you need to educate yourself on your pets care and ask questions. Dr. Rutledge is always there to answer my many questions. He has taken care of my dogs for the past 20 yrs and will continue to do this until I die. He is THE BEST.....

I absolutely love Dr. Rutledge! I've been taking my oldest dog to Mission Bend Animal Clinic since I adopted him 10 years ago from the SPCA. I trust Dr. Rutledge's judgment completely. He's been in the business for quite a while and he knows his stuff. He has wonderful tableside manner and listens to all your concerns. He is never in a rush and he gives you plenty of opportunity to ask questions. His office staff is wonderful and caring and they're great at making last-minute/urgent appointments (if you're an established patient, not sure about new patients). I will always go to Dr. Rutledge for my veterinary needs.

He has spent quite allot of time educating and explaining options - always cognizant of my disability status and my need to save money. When the time did come to let go; to let my pet cross over to the Rainbow Bridge -Dr. Rutledge always told me what was best for my pet - not always what I wanted, but he cared enough to tell me the truth, even when it hurt like hell. We bring our dogs and cats to Dr. Rutledge all the way from Missouri City, because he's simply the best vet we've found.We have four labs, and we've brought them to Dr. Rutledge for various reasons (shots, exams, injuries, etc.) and every time he absolutely amazes us with his knowledge, his caring, and his cost-consciousness. Because, in reality, cost is a factor when caring for an animal. And he always chooses the treatment that is the best for the dog and the best for our wallet. Perfect example: one time we discovered my dog had a deep puncture wound on her inner thigh from jumping onto a upturned twig. It was 9pm took her to the Emergency Vet, they performed a basic debridement, gave her a shot of antibiotics and pain meds then gave me an estimate to complete her treatment: over $700 in surgical procedures and tests. I said 'no thanks' and took her to Dr. R. the next morning, and he said, "It's deep but surgery to clean it isn't necessary and it'd be too expensive, so I'll give you a cleaning solution, do it 2x per day for 5 days and I'll check her then." Total cost: $86. This is typical, when my other lab got a deep gash on her ear, he stitched it up, wrapped it up, gave me antibiotics for under $100... and then had me come back every 2 days for a week so he could check and re-wrap it... free of charge! I wish I could give him 10-stars, because he's worth it.

My wife and I just adopted a rescue puppy from CAP and took our new little furry family member for a check up, heartworm and shots with Dr. Rutledge. I can honestly say I chose this clinic because of the excellent reviews from various websites and what can I say; his clinic/staff does live up to their legendary reputation. They ask a lot of questions to get to know the pets behavior, they answered all my questions, they take their time during examination, and they are very gentle and friendly (as well as affordable!).
They have a new patient for life and in the future I will refer anyone and everyone to take their pets to experience this wonderful clinic!

Said 'no thanks' and took her to Dr. R. this morning, he says, ""It's deep but surgery to clean it isn't necessary and since we can get the same results much more simply and cheaply, so I'll give you a cleaning solution, do it 2x per day until Friday and I'll check her then."" Total cost: $86 (including antibiotics). Any other vet would have tried to sell me unnecessary surgeries to jack up the bill even though a cheaper treatment is just as effective. This is typical, when my other Lab got a deep gash on her ear, he stitched it up, wrapped it up, gave me antibiotics all for under $100 ($70 of which was for the pills which he has no control over)... and then had me come back every 2 days for over a week so he could check and re-wrap it with clean bandages, and then removed the stitches... all free of charge! I wish I could give him 10-stars, because he's worth it.

I have a new puppy! His name is Randy and he is a 6 month old Minature Poodle. Dr. Rutledge will be Randy's doctor too. Dr. Rutledge made such an impression on my 11 year old grandson 4 years ago that he now wants to be a Vet....like Dr. Rutledge. If you love your animals...this is the place for you!
