Noahs Ark

Houston, Texas
General Info
Noahs Ark delivers veterinary services to Houston pet owners and nearby Texan regions through a methodological framework that emphasizes collaborative care combined with detailed observational assessments and specific progress milestones. During initial visits pets undergo environmental adjustment where they become accustomed to auditory stimuli, lighting conditions, and spatial configurations. From the instant animals enter their clinics veterinarians begin monitoring a range of behaviors including movement patterns, social interactions, zones of hesitation, breathing rhythms and responses to touch. Physical assessments examine coat health hydration level gum color limb use joint sensitivity abdominal tone and muscle stability. The intake picture emerges through owner feedback which includes recent appetite changes along with grooming routines and interaction shifts as well as vocalization patterns to guide next steps. Noahs Ark delivers an array of structured services that encompass lab panels dental procedures surgical prep and recovery age-adjusted diagnostics and preventative wellness mapping. Detailed explanations accompany each service milestone while visual progress tools support multi-visit plans. Through their support the team enables owners to decipher animal body language throughout recovery while identifying behaviors that indicate either readiness or resistance which makes home care more straightforward. Behavioral benchmarks determine follow-up visit mapping instead of relying solely on calendar dates. It is recommended that owners monitor detectable alterations such as sleep patterns, eye contact duration, surface preferences, and mobility gradients to provide contextual information during each return check-in. This ensures decisions are made with confidence and continuity. Noahs Ark establishes a clinical alliance with Houston and Texas pet families that focuses on expertise, patience, and transparency—achieving collaborative care from the first day.

I want to give a special shout-out to Dr. Peltier. He has been our kitten's doctor for eight months. When Bean became ill last week, he and Dr. Orengo worked diligently to identify and treat the illness. When just before noon it was clear Bean wouldn't survive the day, Dr. Peltier and his technician took their lunch hour to come to our home to gently put Bean out of his suffering. Words cannot express the extent of our gratitude. We have been bringing our pets to Noah's Ark for over 10 years and will continue to do so. They are meticulous, kind and rational in dealing with both us and our pets -- but yesterday they went above and beyond. THANK YOU!!! Read Less

We've been a client of Noah's Ark since 2009. Our family dog has been well taken care of by the staff and Vets Dr. Orengo and Dr. Szentirmay. I can't say enough how great everyone is at the practice. They are compassionate, caring and professional. When I call on the phone, they know me; I say "this is Laura Brickey" and they say "How is Cosmo today?" -- even if it's been 6 months since my last call-- they know us! That's important to me. When I come for an appointment, they know exactly who I am and why I'm there, without having to say a word when we come in the front doors. They make it all about family. And that's exactly who our pets are: family. Thank you, Noah's Ark Animal Hospital for caring for our 4-legged son for 8+ years. I appreciate the Vets, the techs (we love Will!), the front desk staff (Jacylyn, Jennifer and Kim!), and all of the behind-the-scenes staff we see when we board Cosmo. You have my 5 stars. Read Less

I have 3 dogs currently. I've had a stray dog and took in a cat for a while. Noah's Ark has always been there for me and my animals. I even called them for advice when I moved out of town for a while. They've been there for me when I was a new dog mom and freaked out over everything, when 2 of my dogs needed to be treated for heart worms, and are always happy to fit them in for baths. I trust them with my dogs and that is the most important thing. The office staff, vet techs, and doctors are AMAZING! They are willing to listen to you and answer questions. My cat has been coming her for 5 years (since he was born), and so far, he has come here for neutering, shots, sick visits, and he has been boarded her a few times. The staff here is truly animal focused, and you can tell each and everyone of them is a big animal lover which makes a difference to me knowing that they are taking care of my one and only!I pay attention to how he reacts to them, and he has always been very comfortable with being handled by them and will let them touch and hold him with ease.  This is not the case with strangers for him usually.  As an aside, when we pick him up from boarding, he doesn't seem at all relieved to see us, so I think that they take pretty good care of him.  He also smells like lady perfume, so I'm pretty sure the girls who work their pick him and snuggle him which is a-okay with me! (He was previously watched by my somewhat unreliable friend, and he acted like he won the lottery when we came to get him even if it was only for 2 days.)In addition, during his visits, they will permit you to stay and ask lots of questions, and they will give you lots of answers!  Dr. Riley especially is very bright and always takes the time to let you know what is going on with everything.Their pricing from what I've heard can be more expensive than other vets; however, I very much believe that my cat gets a higher level of care than he would at another vet.  I believe that this is worth paying more for.  They have the most knowledgeable, friendly and customer service oriented vet staff that I've ever encountered.  Out of all the vets that I've every been too(and that's a whole lot as I used to volunteer with an animal rescue group and we had partnerships with tons of them), this is by far the nicest veterinarian clinic that I've been too.  I trust their judgment for my cat, and that they'll act in a way that is appropriate for him.  If you are one of those types of people (like me), that consider your cat or dog to be your kid, this is a good vet's office for you.  They understand that dynamic completely, and I've never gotten the impression from them that they think my cat was "just a cat."Overall, I highly recommend! I've tried more than half a dozen vets since moving to Houston in 2003.  I found myself extremely pleased with Dr. Riley & the staff at Noah's Ark.  My active 9 yr old Lab mix tends to cut his feet/nails when we're out and about & he requires a special diet so I find myself stopping by for food at least once a month & 2 to 3 times a year for other care for him.  1. The staff there is very accommodating for there have been several times that I realize I'm out of food only to call over there at closing time & they wait a few more minutes for me so I can pick up his food...Thanks!2.  Dr. Riley obviously is passionate about her work not only because of her 'bed-side' manner but her knowledge of overall canine conditions, allergies as it pertains to my dog, etc... and I so appreciate her objectivity when giving me treatment options. It's refreshing to not feel as if I'm getting 'nickle'd & dimed' for every band aid they apply.  She has always given just enough medicine with an option to stop by for a 'few' more if I need & leaves some 'home care' to me which I'm very comfortable with and cuts down on cost for me.  Thank you Dr. Riley for giving me solid information so I feel I'm making the best decisions for my pets care!  Keep doing what you do best! I've been taking my pets to Noah's ark for the past 14 years.  I saw Dr. Christine Orengo the first time when she was at Westheimer Animal Hospital in 1995 with my first labrador puppy.  I loved her so much and she had such a great rapport with my lab puppy. I was thrilled to have found such a great vet.  When she left Westheimer Animal Hospital I was so sad and disappointed but kept going to Westheimer because I didn't know where Dr. Orengo had gone.  I was thrilled to receive a phone call from Dr. Orengo about 6 months later telling me that she had opened her own clinic a few blocks away.  I was there the next week! Since that time she has been the vet for our second Lab, she's helped us through the death of  our first lab almost two years ago and the addition of our new puppy last December.... and everything in between those milestones... from infections to surgeries, etc...  She is the most caring and loving Dr. and her staff is just as loving.  She is incredibly knowledgeable and knows a lot about alternatives and helped walk me through questions I had about vaccines with our new puppy.  As you can tell I can't say enough nice things about Dr  Orengo and the staff at Noah's Ark.  I would never go anyplace else. The only reason this is not a 5 is because vets are always so darn expensive in general, and to pay that much for an animal who has rolled around in his own poop for fun is a little annoying. BUT the service here has always been friendly, always accommodating, no matter how many times I call in one day to ask stupid questions. That, and the staff genuinely loves animals. I don't typically get that feeling at the Banfield in the West Loop Petsmart. In fact, I purchased some wellness plan to save money at Banfield, but the service there has proven to be so subpar that I don't trust their opinion.  I routinely check with Noah's Ark for second opinions on things, the Noah's Ark staff knows I'm doing it, and they don't get mad at me for it at all.  If my dog needs anything beyond routine treatment, I do not hesitate to take him to Noah's Ark.  If I could bring myself to pay those visit fees, I would take him there all the time. This office is not the newest, fanciest-looking place. I originally found it because they were on the list of vets who give free checkups to newly adopted Humane Society pets, so I wasn't expecting much. But they have been really great! Read Less

I rarely review businesses but my experiences with Noah's Ark have inspired me to highly recommend Noah's Ark Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a fabulous vet. I have 3 cats and a dog and have been going to Noah's Ark for the past couple of years. I have taken them in from anything from just a normal check-up to irritable bowel issues, grooming, and animal boarding. My animals and I are always greeted warmly when we arrive. It always surprises me that a majority of the staff recognizes my pet as soon as we walk in, even is they might not recognize me :). When my cat started to exhibit signs of intestinal issues Dr. Orengo patiently worked with me until she came up with a solution and I am happy to say that he is doing great now! Another thing I really like about this clinic is that they have never pushed me to do extra tests or buy extra supplies just so they can make more money. I also have taken my dog there many times for boarding and I have always been confident in the fact that I know she is receiving the best of care. I like that everyone knows her and I know that extra attention is being paid to her which I doubt would happen if I took her to a traditional boarding place. She is always happy when I pick her up and she has never gotten sick or seem depressed during any of her stays there. She also gets monthly baths at the clinic and afterwards she smells and looks amazing. People constantly stop me and ask what is used on her and she actually smells good for a month or so. So if you are looking for a new vet I highly recommend giving Noah's Ark a try. I have implicit trust in Dr. Orengo and her staff's abilities. My animals are like my children and I believe that they get the best care at Noah's Ark so I plan on being a customer for years to come. Read Less

A friendly, compassionate veterinarian's office that cares for even the littlest of pets.I brought my pet rat to them in 2006. They were competent in caring for him, giving us medicine and instructing me on his care, and comforting to me a few days later when he didn't respond and had to be put to sleep. A week or two later, I received a sympathy card in the mail signed by the whole office with personal notes about my pet. I was touched, and despite the sad outcome of my visit I had a very positive experience and will be bringing all future pets to them. In fact, I am making an appointment with them next week for the cat I'm bringing to my new apartment.EDIT:We brought our cat to Noah's Ark in March for a checkup before bringing him into our new home, and the vet who saw him was wonderful. She listened to our concerns regarding vaccines (my husband had a cat who developed a tumor after her vaccinations and died as a result) and gave us information on safer but less common versions of the vaccines our cat needed and where we could get them. She was very knowledgeable and competent, and our cat was amazingly calm in her care. I can't recommend this place enough, we wouldn't go anywhere else. Read Less

I was an employee of the hospital and the problem came with boarding animals, especially for the holidays. I want to make it a point to state that I never saw any outright abuse of the animals, and the medical care was excellent. The problems were in the management of the non-medical side. For boarding of healthy animals there was a lot of overbooking, accepting more animals than there was kennel space available. In one case I was forced by the manager to board a large dog in a our small bathroom. The owner had specifically stated that this dog loved and needed open space and attention, and the family was going on vacation. She had no reason to think the dog would not be in a large run; the manager didn't tell her we didn't have one available. It broke my heart to keep her in a bathroom walkway much smaller than a run, alone, with no other dogs or a way to see out. The promise of holiday boarding fees meant that ""fully booked"" was a very porous concept. I hope that at this point pets are no longer put in any available space, and that the owner is given full knowledge of where the pet will board. If the owner had known this situation she would have had the manager's head on a tray; I'm sorry I never had the courage to tell the owner the truth. There are excellent full-time boarding facilities in the area for a competitive price. Read Less

Read Less

I don't live as close to the office anymore but I will always continue to bring my dogs to this doctor and her staff. Read Less

I was happy as a lark. When Monday rolled around, I called to confirm and they told me they don't even take rats! Then I was referred to a bird vet who obviously doesn't take rats, either!I was so mad. Their website definitely features a cute cartoon of a rat, so I was hoping for some quality rat care.

Read Less
