Very helpful and friendly staff! Took a stray found at the cemetery I work here and they were extremely helpful in giving him a full checkup and even boarding him while I tried to find an owner. Wound up keeping the pup and he's been back a few times for checkups and a minor surgery. Pesto is now a happy healthy dog and I'm thankful to the staff here for all their help! I'd give them zero stars if I could.. Before I dropped my dog off to get her teeth cleaned, they had me fill out a form where I specifically stated that I wanted to be called before they do ANYTHING other than clean her teeth. She ended up having a bad blood test and didn't get her teeth cleaned because of a possible problem with her liver. BUT, They did a bunch of other stuff on her without asking me and didn't have any problem charging me for something I didn't approve. Not happy at all. Feeling super ripped off and taken. My dog, my parent's 4 dogs and my brother's dog will not be going back. Also, after leaving a poor review on their Facebook page, they blocked me. And I've heard from neighbors that they retaliate by posting poor reviews on their reviewers' business pages. Talk about poor business tactics!! Oak Forest Veterinary Hospital disgusts me. Read Less

I took my dog Lilly in for a knee problem. Dr. Moore was able to come in and give a correct diagnosis and offer solutions to the problem. The staff is very friendly and prompt with service. This is a great vet practice and highly recommend them to all pet owners! Read Less

Hold on to your wallet. As a long-time patient, my Boxer Missy has spent plenty of time at this vet, usually for "follow up" visits. A trend for this vet is that fees, services, exams, and multiple prescriptions are all opportunities for them to up-sell. High, high prices compared to other Vet Hospitals in the area. The staff and vets recommend as much and as many tests as possible in order to charge the customer as much as possible for services that may be incomplete at the time of visit, requiring multiple "follow up" visits, more tests, more exams, more fees, more prescriptions. My Boxer had been a patient for many years, so I am very familiar with this Oak Forest Vet Hospital. Its hard to say if the care was competent because I was at the vet practically every month for "follow up" visits. I noticed an increase in fees, tests, prescriptions and products offered at this Vet when the construction was completed on their "new" facility. I do not recommend this Vet Hospital unless you want to pay high fees, unnecessary testing, and "follow up" visits. In fact, as soon as I challenged the high fees, testing, exams and prescription prices, they were no longer interested in treating my dog as a patient. We take both our dog and cat to Oak Forest Vets, and we would highly recommend them for all animals. We have also boarded our cat during our recent honeymoon. The reception staff is always friendly. The vets take time to answer any questions that come up and even have returned our calls when we have had questions previously. Appointments are always handled on time. They gave us a tour of the boarding facility before dropping off our cat. The kennels are more spacious than others we had seen and included a window view to watch the birds outside! He hates boarding in general, but seemed to tolerate his stay here. We plan on taking our animals here for the foreseeable future. Read Less

My puppy had his first veterinary visit with Dr. Crocker and her technician Monique. He had a fun visit and never noticed he was getting his vaccinations because Monique was loving on him and giving him cheese whiz while Dr. Crocker did her exam and gave him his shots. Very happy to recommend this vet. I have been using them for years. I think their service has continued to improve over the years. The staff is genuinely interested in the client. The vets are experts, but not overconfident. They have a set of special digital x-ray systems that I have not seen in other clinics. Read Less

I had a very negative experience at this neighborhood vet clinic. Went in for something quite simple and needed to find a vet for my canine. I found the staff to be OK on the phone when making the appointment, but when I arrived I was very disappointed with the vet and she gave me a very hard time when I tried to ask questions. They took my dog in the back, out of my sight, after I had asked them when I called if that is their procedure and was told no, your dog will remain with you the entire time, and when they brought her back in she was wet. I asked the vet tech why she was all wet, the tech told me she had urinated on herself and then handed me baby wipes to clean her up. She was soaked in her own urine. I wont be going back. I wish I had waited until Dr. Moore was in as she came so highly recommended but I felt like I needed to get my pup in to see a vet as soon as possible as she has experienced soft soft stools for a few weeks and she is young so I wanted and needed some answers and decided to book with another of their vets, Dr. Maddox.. So wanted to love this place! Its so convenient and their location is great for me!! I am glad to see other good and positive ratings, but its good to see ALL good and not so good when we make important choices like our furkid's health care. Read Less

I have loved my experiences with Oak Forest Veterinary Hospital. They have always been patient with all of the questions of this first-time dog owner. At the front desk I have gotten answers quickly and politely. When they have said they will call back, they do. The care we have gotten from the doctors and tech. people has been professional, but also very humane. Not only do they just care about animals, they care about MY animals. I feel it and my dogs do, too. The new facility is wonderful, and I love the "extras" they considered like a nook with a wall where dogs uncomfortable around other dogs or cats can sit and feel safe. AMAZING staff! Each time I visit, they are eager to greet my pets...they probably treat them better than we do. Extremely friendly and helpful. I called with a (sort of) emergency for my cat and they asked how quickly I could come in. I could tell when I arrived that they weren't really open any longer but had seen me especially. They have gone above and beyond! The doctor even called personally to check in a few days later. The space is remarkably clean. They have a well-stocked play area for children and beverage and waiting area for adults. I'm so happy to finally have a superior veterinary clinic in the neighborhood! Read Less

Recently I had to have my DASH euthanized and I was so impressed with the respectful way that the entire episode was handled. The kindness of the personnel and the Doctor will be remembered by me forever. We had used the Hospital before for other reasons when a member of our family needed to see a doctor and always have been impressed... I went to this vet because traditionally they have been reasonably priced. I needed to get my dogs teeth cleaned & know they always want to do exam prior to this. My dog was not having any major problems but they wanted to do UA by drawing the pee with a needle out of his bladder. This was a little excessive since he was not having any problems & never has with UTI or bladder issues. I was quoted $540 for the preliminary exam. I didn't want some of the things listed so i crossed off $180 worth of items i declined. When i went to check out the bill was still over $500.00 they claimed not everthing was listed on the quote. The dental procedure was quoted @ over $900.00 US not pesos. Mind you this was in addition to the 510 i just paid. The vets there are NOT good enough to spend that kind of money there!!!!!!!!! To go to a dog dentist its 1200. The contract vet that was filling in was better than any vet employeed there. I would not recommend this place. I know they rebuilt but i don't think i should have to pay for the whole building. Read Less

I am absolutely devastated! I left my two dogs at this place for a week; one of them is diabetic, and requires insulin twice a day. At the time of drop off he was doing great, Today I picked them up both dogs, the bag of food and their toys. It was not until I got them home that I noticed my schnauzer is blind. The care taker did not say anything to me not a single comment! The reason why I left them at this clinic is because I was sure they were going to give him his insulin on time! What could have go wrong in one week? I hope they will have an explanation for me on Monday. Read Less

Oak Forest Vet has been around for many of years - the new place looks amazing! It is filled with such love and care for their animals and the animal's human LOL - all is true though...they are very attentive to the needs of all concerns. I love Oak Forest Veterinary Hospital! I've taken my pets to a few different clinics over the years and Oak Forest is without a doubt the best of the bunch. With each appointment, we are consistently welcomed with kindness and enthusiasm as soon as we walk through the door. The staff genuinely cares about the well-being of my pets and are always eager to help. When my pets have sustained injuries, the office staff always follows up with a phone call about a week after our appointment to make sure they're on their way to recovery. Their professionalism and sensitivity on June 13th when we had to put our baby Jolie down was evident and genuine. The vets at Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic are careless and indifferent. One of the vets surgically removed a growth on our 23 month old sheltie's lower lip. They told us, after a lab test, the growth was probably histiocytoma and they removed all of it. A few weeks later, the lump grew back. After another physical examination, they told us it was the histiocytoma and to just keep an eye on it; the growth would probably just fall off. My wife, Jan, decided we needed another opinion because she found large lumps under Kippie's throat the very same day of his exam at Oak Forest Vet Clinic. Two days later, we took Kippie to the other vet across town. She examined Kippie and immediately found many other lumps in his lymph system and on his skin. A biopsy proved Kippie had lymphatic cancer that had already spread to his skin. By the time we found out, there was nothing we could do about it. The vets at Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic are careless, indifferent, and dangerous. Go elsewhere if you love your dog. Read Less

I wanted to write a good review - I just can't. Went today for both of my dog's annual shots/check-up. The front desk staff is unfriendly, they were eating at the computer in front of everyone, they all looked upkept, and the place was dirty. Sorry, I understand it's a very old office but at least the front office appearance and floors could be kept clean looking and they could be a little more professional and courteous. When were called back to the room there was still ""stuff"" on the floor from the dog there prior to us - looked like pee or saliva drippings, no matter it needed to be cleaned up. While we were waiting for the doctor to show up, I noticed how dusty and dirty the counters were and the cheese whiz can as well on the counter...obviously someone's snack? Just gross. The tech that showed up couldn't get a vein in my dog's arm and left all the ""stuff"" on the exam table, took my dog (a small dachshund) and found another tech to draw his blood. At this point I was ready to take both my dogs (full blood dachshunds I paid a very pretty penny for whom I maintain in excellent health). I waited it out. The doctor came in and immediately gave me the 3rd degree about how I should one of my dogs neutered - nevermind I might want to breed him and that the previous vet I took him too at that office, whom I loved but left, explained the health risks and benefits for and against neutering...based on HER advice I choose not to at the time...he's only 1. Regardless, this doctor today practically was trying to get me to schedule for the procedure. I was appalled. After the shots were all done and check-up complete I paid and left that nasty dirty place with the unkept office staff and dirty floors. I will not ever return. I found the vet that use to work there, finally after grilling the front desk people, and will be taking my dogs to her. Her name is Dayna Baxter and she's at Central Houston Animal Hospital - look it up. When our cat Halley first joined our family 6 years ago, the rescue place we adopted her from recommended we take her to Oak Forest Veterinary Clinic for regular care. ?Since then she's been a pretty low maintenance cat, so visits to the vet were thankfully infrequent.? Then about a year and a half ago we adopted our first ever puppy. ?I wouldn't say that she is high maintenance, but puppies are quite a bit more work than a cat. ?Her first year was plagued by a sensitive immune system and puppy energy that sometimes got her in trouble , ?e.g. torn pads, bumps, scratches, etc. ?The docs at Oak Forest Vet were amazing, helping us get through these first puppy years. ?We conquered giardia and crytosporidium and our pup has been stitched up with care. ?Doctors Moore and Cardenas are smart and methodical and really care about your pet's well being. ?The vet tech's are also knowledgeable and caring, you really get the feeling from everybody the entire time you are there that they understand your pets are part of your family. ?? The vet, like the doctor, is not somewhere you want to have to visit often, but when we have had to they have made the process as pain free as possible for us, and our four legged family members. I stumbled across Oak Forest Vet Clinic after moving into the neighborhood. I really liked my old vet but wanted someone closer to my new home. ?I was shocked to see that my dogs had fleas and the staff assured me that this was a big problem in the summer, and I was not alone. They even taught me about a few options for getting rid of them ASAP and keeping them off. When my pets were due for shots, this was the first place I came to. Dr. Moore explained what each vaccine was for before giving them and even gave me a few tips on cleaning my dogs ears since she has chronic ear infections. ?There is not enough room for me to sing her praises. I understand now why they are so busy. but i'd rather wait for the best than settle for anywhere else. thank you, thank you, thank you Oak Forest! You truly do an amazing job. My cat had been having skin issues for the past year, and I was told there was no cure, just steroid shots every month or two. My friend told me about her vet, who had really helped with her dog's skin and ears. I got an appointment with Dr. Jessica and she laid it all out for me. I had to make some minor changes, but three months later, my kitty's skin is smooth and her fur is fluffy again. The staff was really sweet, and I trust Dr. Parkerson - she's thinking of my pet first. I'm so glad to have Oak Forest take care of my kitty-cat. Read Less

We love this animal clinic. They have taken care of our past three dogs and are wonderful for all types of care and boarding. When boarded, they have a huge grassy yard in bag where the dogs can run and play and they have large runs where all my dogs can stay together comfortably. Terrific people. Read Less

Finally, through a referral, I found the vet I've been looking for. I have been driving out of town, over 1 hr each way, to take my pets to someone I trust in my old neighborhood. My pets are very dear to me, to say the least, and I have had a terrible experience with my previuos vet who refused me help and thereby crippled my cat. You won't have any problems with Oak Forest vets. They are truly wonderful people and they won't break the bank for you. Read Less

I needed a place to board my pet & since Oak Forest Vet Clinc is near my home I decided to go by & check it out. I asked one of the receptionist for a tour of the boarding area, it took about 10 minutes for someone to come up & take me back. I realize there are many pets back there, but there's no reason why I should smell the horrible stinch of urine & feces. A mask would've been nice! The ""tour guide"" informed me the front area was for hospitalized pets...not sanitary since there was a huge pile of dirty laundry on the floor. The place has the capability to be nice, but its ovious some people don't care to make sure every kennel is clean. I could see dry pee in some of the large kennels & a few pets didn't have water in the bowels. The backyard is big & I'm sure my dog would love to run aroujnd in it, but there's no way I'd have him stay under those conditions. Granted, my tour was on New Years Eve & they may have been busy but theres no excuse for what I saw. I see good reviews on the doctors, I wish they would take more time to put the same good practice in the boarding they promote as they do in medicine. Read Less

A clear indicator of the quality of their service is the fact that they have been in business for about 50 years. Every aspect of their approach to veterinary care is first-rate. In the nine years I have been taking our family pets to Oak Forest Vet Clinic, I have been completely satisfied with the care, treatment, and courtesy I have received. I admit that I am one of those people that are difficult to please. I love my animals and most clinics usually have not stood up to my standards. Therefore I have been switching vet hospitals continually after a few visits to each one. I recently moved to Houston and went in to Oak Forest Vet Clinic and was very pleased with the service there as well as the reasonable prices. The hospital was clean and smelled nice and more importantly, the doctors and staff were professional and courteous. Every time I walk into the Clinic, the Receptionists greet me and my little ones with a warm smile :-) I never have to wait too long (significantly better than other Vets I've been to) and every Doctor here is knowledgeable and great at what they do! I have 2 dogs and 3 cats, and they all love the Doctors! When you take your animal to the Vet and they don't shake, you know you have got a Winner! The prices are quite reasonable, and the MOST important part is that these Doctors are the BEST in town! Your animals will be taken care of every single time & with love! i have been a client here for years and even though there is a new staff i find that they are still friendly and very reasonable the doctors are more caring as well as the staff... its hard for me to believe that they would mistake a teeth cleaning for a neuter ..they truly are good people and i wouldnt take my pets anywhere else Read Less

My old dog got into it with a cat. I took him there and the new desk staff was super kind as was the vet. Vitually no wait as they have anew additional exam room. Got us right in.Good price considering all the stitches. I'm going to start boarding him there as I got a good look at the huge field they have behind the place for dogs boarding there. kennel looked clean. After many years(maybe a decade) of loyalty to Oak Forest Vet, I have changed vets due to delayed test results on my dog and cryptic unofficial test results given to me by the tech. The newer staff is also less friendly. Although the clinic's proximity to my home made this clinic the ideal location for my pet's needs, I will travel down to 290 to a more attentive staff. I have been there 3 times and am never going back. The wait in the wating room and then the exam room is too long. They let people they know ahead of you. But worst of all is the cashier. 2 times after the exam I went up front to pay. I sat down, because the doctor told me to. Both times the lady at front kept helping all the people around me. After sitting there for 15 minutes, I told her I had to leave and she had my paperwork right in front of her! This happened 2 times! Fool me once, but twice! Come on. Never again!! Read Less
