A little background info: I drive by W. Holcombe all the time and finally noticed this place a few months ago. I kept its name in mind so earlier this month when my dog needed to see the vet for a skin condition, I went on to this site to read about it. All the reviews seemed good, the price was right, and since it was close enough to where I live, why not? They don't take appointments here as the other reviews pointed out. Knowing that, I came in as early as I could on a Friday at 10:30 am (they open at 10 am), signed my name and was about number 20-something. They were servicing number 10. The receptionist estimated about an hour's wait. My dog was super agitated that day and wouldn't sit still so I ended up walking her up and down the sidewalk while waiting for the next 45+ minutes to come by. An hour went by, and Robert, the vet tech, brought me into the exam room to take my dog's case history. He was super nice and friendly, noting all my concerns on my dog's file. Seeing his ease in working with animals, I asked how long he had been in the industry and was not surprised when he said he's been in the field for over 10+ years. After Robert took the case history and left, no more than 5 minutes later, Dr. Debbie Wysockie, a middle-age woman with a buzz cut, came in. Once again, Robert was assisting her by holding down my dog as she became agitated by their presence. I asked for my dog to have her annual shot series done as I had sadly neglected to keep up with her shots last year. I chose the gold package, which included the works: rabies, parvo/distember, bordetella, heartworm test, dewormer. The vet was very gentle, and while my dog was visibly scared, Robert did a great job calming her down as the vet administed a bunch of shots on her paws, her hind, her chest, trimmed her nails, and even inserted a thermometer in her rear. My actual reason for coming in was for the vet to assess my dog's skin condition, as I had highly suspected that she was having an allergic reaction to her dog food. Dr. Wysockie gave her a 20day antibiotic pill supply and sent me home with a prescription good for 6 months worth of hypoallegenic dog food supply (yikes, this will be costly). In all, my vet bill came out to be $91.95 ($9 office visit, $17.95 for the antibiotics, and $65 for the shot series, not to mention a take home prescription for dog food). Wow, you can't beat that! Last time I went to the Petsmart's vets, my bill for annual shots and meds usually came to be well over $150. In summary, I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable Petcare Express was. Robert, the vet tech, is highly trained and great with animals. The vet was also very warm and gentle with my dog. I will definitely be back if my dog's skin condition doesn't improve! Cons: unlike it's name, Petcare ""Express"", be prepared for a good 30+ minutes wait unless you're the very 1st person to be seen. Read Less
