This clinic is run by a friend of mine. He is very compassionate and quite good. He's distinguished in research, as well. His clinic is very clean. I have taken many dogs there that come to me through rescue. Some require specialized surgery, and he's been able to refer me to low-cost and skilled vets that most primary vets wouldn't know about. He's also very accomidating. He has always been able to see me as a walk-in.His compassion is insurmountable. I brought in a dog who attacked with such little provocation and so regulary that he was quite dangerous. He had failed multiple rehab attempts. The vet was understandably not thrilled with the fact that I was asking him to euthanize an otherwise healthy dog, and we talked for some length about the ethics of the situation. We came to conclusion that euthanasia was an ethical choice in his case. His euthanasia techniques are extremely gentle. He uses a cocktail of relaxants to calm the dog before giving the actual euthanasia. His needles are bought thoughtfully, choosing specifically the sharp needles that cause less pain.I've also brought in a litter that had parvo. They were a difficult diagnosis, actually, because I brought them in so early that the parvo test was borderline. Yet he took the time to observe them and run blood tests so we could figure it out. He taught me how to do the fluids at home and coached me through the process, since hospitalizing the entire litter wasn't really an option. This litter was very unhealthy to start with, having birth defects and being the offspring of mother-son mating. The ones with congenital defects did not make it, but the others pulled through.I've brought him 2 dogs with distemper, too. He helped me interpret the laboratory tests, even calling the IDEXX facility and asking them to run certain samples in a way to distinguish a vaccine reaction to a true infection. The dogs did have true distemper, and I was able to get them started on treatment quickly so they survived without any consequences. (Both dogs developed mild tics that resolved). I've sent my friends to him when their rescue dogs who were suspected of having distemper and he was able to figure it out for them, too. Their dogs also did very well. The only reason I give him 4 not 5 stars is because I feel that the front desk staff are still learning their jobs, so customers might be detect a lack of efficiency here.
