Took my puppy here to be neutered as I was referred by a friend who took all her dogs there. Process was very smooth and not lengthy at all. My puppy was fine after the surgery but developed a fever couple days later. Dr. Bazan was in surgery all day so I was referred to one of their sister clinic for treatment. I was very impressed by Dr. Bazan as she personally called to follow with to make sure everything went well with my puppy. Very kind and compassionate Dr! Highly recommend them! Read Less

Showed up at 6:55 for our 7 am surgery. I was the 3rd person to arrive. Staff didn't open the door to accept patients until 7:15 and then had to wait until 7:45 to leave my pet for work. By the time the door opened, there were 10 patients in line. Although the staff was friendly, it's clear that there's no emphasis on timeliness or value on others' time. Almost missed the bus to work. I know it's a high volume clinic which is why it's more surprising they don't start the day on time. Good marks for friendliness and cost, poor marks for punctuality and professionalism. Read Less

Was looking for a place to take my pets because I couldn't afford my vet fees any longer. Surprisingly, he sent me to KAAWS because they are a lot cheaper. No problem making a same-day appointment. They took us in as soon as we walked in the building. Sold us heartworm preventative by the pill not by 6 month supplies... Mandatory at the other place... This is now my go-to clinic. Their yellow pages' reviews is 3.5/5 and there is a reason for that. Maybe they were the good one but not anymore. Here's my story: I've been there three times. The 1st time, they say my puppy was too young to have all the necessary vaccines (he was 6 weeks old) so we just have DAPP, we paid for the vaccines+physical exams for the total of ~$70, although the vet barely touched and examine him. We were told to bring him back a few weeks later to have his DAPP booster, we did bring him back for the booster and this time, they just gave him the shot, I didn't see they'd done any examination on my puppy, maybe they were too professional so they can do it just by looking. I asked the receptionist if it is necessary to do the exam every time we bring him there, and you should know the answer. They told us that the exam is empirical to make sure the puppy can take the vaccines, from what I've seen, there wasn't an actual exam. I also asked if we can come back for rabies shot for the next appointment and they said YES. I asked them twice, and both the vet and receptionist said yes. There was the 3rd visit and we were late about 5', they said they had to charge us the late fee for $10 even though I didn't see any patients nor people waiting, just only us there and every time we came on time, we had to wait around ~15 minutes from our appointment time for both previous visits. That was not a big deal, the reason I hate them so much is that I went there for rabies shots and my puppy was 13 weeks old. We were told that the only thing we can have for him today is DAPP booster, not rabies since he was too young ????? so that will be ~$70+$40+$50 for only DAPP and its boosters, and no rabies shot, seriously?? and every time we were charged for the exam fee, no matter what. It's not optional, you have to PAY for it. I use to love taking my pup to KAAWS. After today, not anymore. Be careful of their fees and always ask before you pay. I initially came there to get the influenza shot for my dogs since the pet hotel I was keeping them at required it. I just wanted the 1 strand influenza since they only required 1 and it was only $20 something and some change. Once the doctor came in, she eventually convinced me to get the 2 strand influenza since it was newer & better. I saw that the price was $43 and said ok, that's not too bad since you're getting 2 strands and it's newer AND more effective. I was told I had to come back in 3 weeks to get the second shot of the influenza. I was under the impression that I did not need to pay again, and that all I needed to pay was a tech fee ($7). Even which the doctor kept repeating and assuring me that all I needed to pay was the tech fee when I came back. So today (8/16), I came back for the 2nd round and had to pay a $100 bill. Eventually, I paid for it but decided to wait and speak to a manager. She asked me why I didn't say anything about the price prior to getting the shots. In my head I'm thinking, "why would I ask?" I was under the impression that I already paid for this shot and that all I needed to pay for was the tech fee! My dogs are 4 and 7. And I have never gotten the influenza shot for them (until now since the pet hotel required it) I think they would have been fine with the 1 strand had I known that it would have been double the price I would've just stuck with the $20 price! I brought my cat here to get spayed. The clinic is close to my house and also very affordable. The receptionist that I spoke with to make the appointment was very kind and helpful. There was a $25 deposit required when making the appointment that was later deducted from the final bill. After the appointment was made, I was emailed the required forms and application for me to fill out and bring on the day of the surgery. The day before the surgery, I faxed over my pet's vaccine records and when I went the next day, the receptionist immediately recognized my cat's name and put it with my check-in form. I arrived at the clinic at around 7:15 AM. The wait time after checking in was around 1 hour and we were called in to meet with the vet. After a brief meeting with the vet, I went back home around 8:30 AM. The clinic called me around noon and said my cat was out of surgery and recovering and that I could pick her up around 2. When I went to pick her up, I paid the bill and a vet came out with my cat in her carrier and explained post-op instructions & how to use the e-collar. And that was it! I had a wonderful experience and my cat's wound healed perfectly. I recommend KAAWS Clinic to anyone looking to neuter their pets at an affordable and safe place. Read Less

The clinic staff was great, they explained her procedure and gave me clear instructions on Lila's post surgery care. The cost was the lowest around and it included her meds. They also clipped her nails for free and checked her ears and noticed a mild irritation. They asked me if I would like to have her checked for an ear infection. She have an mild infection  and they gave her ear drips and an antibiotic. I would recommend this clinic to anyone! Read Less

All things considered this place is a home run.  I was in need of a spay for a baby animal that needed saving.  This place could do it within a few days and for about $60 bucks total, with pain meds on board.  Just get the animals vet records to them the day before.  When I say no hassle:  I mean she was left off early (their drop off time window) and they called around 2 or so, I picked her up before pickup time ended around 4.  I had to wait an hour or so to get her checked in.  Pickup was 10 mins total.  This is a clinic and it is run no differently than any medical office.  Its high volume, and if you want your high maintenance animal coddled, take your business elsewhere.  Bc expecting a low cost, super high volume place to do it is ridiculous.  Similarly, like ANY office, If you are late you may have to reschedule.  Grown ups plan ahead right?  This place takes emergencies bc they DO have a 'heart' and a situation may turn into an emergency very quickly.  And trying to get info out of a low paid young person who likely doesn't understand whats clinically going on themselves ?  Because YOU were late?  Some of the people 'reviewing' this place need therapy themselves.  Back to the review lol Considering other places charge several hundreds, I signed up.  The area where they 'fixed' her looks great.  You cant even tell it was done...The big guy who gave her to me was afraid of a completely docile 4 pound animal, but I can live with that.  I made sure he secured the cone before we left the clinic and keptit on her for 10 days, better be safe...It's a high volume place that specializes in certain things, so it wont be perfect.  But they are obviously skilled at spaying and neutering animals, and they do it at an amazing price.  Price and convenience is why Ill be coming back. They are always on time, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. They are reasonably priced, and never disappoint with their care for my animals. I LOVE the way they run on time; if I'm late, for instance, they re-schedule my appointment so that others do not wait longer because of me. I am really impressed with the quality of care and the price that they are able to offer the care at. I have. 2 fur babies a cat and a dog and care for them can quickly add up. But Kaaws has made it possible for me to get them the care they need and update shots and medication without breaking the bank. I love KAAWS! My husband and I bring all three of our doggies here and they always take such great care of them! Appointment scheduling is easy and they have a lot of really convenient times which make getting our fur babies taken care of really easy. KAAWS has treated all 3 of my dogs. They've neutered and removed dew claws too. The vets and the entire staff here are very professional, yet caring. The fees are way more reason noble than most other places. Unfortunately, my dogs are at the point where they need more extensive care than this clinic offers. I have used KAAWS numerous times to spay/neuter the feral cats in my neighborhood. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the care the cats have received is excellent. When I had a post-surgery question about one of the cats, I was able to easily reach one of the doctors on staff. Their low prices make the project manageable, for which I am very grateful. Not only is in the in-house support wonderful but their website was a tremendous resource as I was trapping cats for the first time when I started and needed all the advice I could get. This place is terrible! I took my stray kitten in ONE day after getting him. I have four other animals in my house so I wanted to make sure that I was not bringing anything in to my home. I was told by Dr. Washington that my cat looked like he had ringworm, but it was "going away". He got his shots and some ear cleaner and I went on my way. Three weeks later (today) my whole house hold is covered in ringworm and now my other 4 animals, my sisters two animals and my whole family are being treated for ring worm. Today I was told by Dr. Flowers that "that is price you pay for taking in a stray"! She was actually blaming me for not taking care of my animal when I had him in their office 14 days ago! Today THREE WEEKS LATER my cat was scanned for ring worm and is now being treated. If Dr. Washington had done her job the first time we walked in there, this would not be happened. On top of that my cat scratched Dr. Flowers today and it became clear that she lost her cool and forcefully held down my cat, so violently that his tongue was sticking out and her looked like he was not able to breathe. The only reason why I would ever bring a pet here is to save money. However I spend near $200 dollars in less than a month, so clearly they are not saving any one money, and the doctors are terrible. NEVER. AGAIN. THIS PLACE IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST.Read Less

Somehow the scale was not calibrated or something , my dog weigh 22 LB she was given rabies shots and the trifexis pill for fleas . At home i notice the pill was bigger then usual . She got so sick the following day that we were thinking she was going to die , she was not eating , barely opening her eyes . After i put her on my scale , she weighs 15 LB . I call them and left a message and 1st thing in morning on Monday i went there and she is under 15 LB . One of the tech told me that "good news is that she only vomit 14 hours after she had the pill , she is protected against the fleas " Ya ok , bad news is my dog could had died because in a way she was over dosed due to a malfunction scale . Vet DR did apologised that she should had notice what was impossible for the type of bread of my dog ( shish zhu ) 22 LB would be too much and , gave me "1" correct pill for next month . Im not saying that happens all the time but , please be careful , pay attention because it could had cost my dogs life .Read Less

Today I had a 3pm appointment for a shot package for my 8 month old cat and was refused service because I was 11 minutes late. I understand places have policies but most reasonable places will consider the circumstances. They could not care less! I explained I was late because I discovered worms in his poop. I was told to bring a sample which I did and because I was 11 minutes late and they are a "high volume" clinic that I would have to be rescheduled. The manager was sure to lay a guilt trip on me for being late and causing them to delay appointments for other animals(the place was empty) explaining his worm situation and they obviously understood he was not well I was offered an appointment almost a whole MONTH from now!! This place obviously does not care about your animals. The 15 minutes I was standing there the "manager" had to go back and forth to the back of the clinic to get answers to my questions. I found another clinic who was able to see him right away. We will not be bringing our animals back here, stay away from these incompetent and careless people.Read Less

Very difficult to get an appointment, likely due to good service for a reasonable price. However, when arrive after months of scheduling and rescheduling, this is a 30.06 posted business...though not properly posted. If this matters to you, find someplace else before wasting your time. I will never take any of my pets to this clinic. I had to email them to make a appointment because I couldn't get through over the phone and when my pet that had a scheduled appointment got worse a week before her appointment and I tired calling them and still could never get through to anyone so I decided to take my cat somewhere else where she could be treated that day. Even when I tried calling to cancel my appointment that was no longer needed I still wasn't able to get through and had to once again email them. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that has a pet that needs any kind of surgery. Read Less

I have been to this clinic multiple times. Each time the staff is friendly and very helpful. I have had a dog spayed there and we have taken our dogs for their yearly shots. I have nothing bad to say: the pricing is reasonable, the vets and vet techs are knowledgeable, and I have never had trouble getting an appointment. I have had this place recommended to me and I do not understand why. If you can get them to answer the phone they are completely lacking professionalism and they are very negative. They say they sent out an e-mail saying for what time you're pet has to be there. I never got an e-mail. I got 4 text messages but no e-mail. I was there at 9:10 and on my text message it says to be there at 9. The lady at the front desk, does not know anything about customer services. She said she went to ask the doctor if my dog can't still get spay. And she brings back a piece of paper saying 7- 8:45 am I was suppose to have my dog there before 8:45. Never got an e-mail. So they wanted me to pay a 10.00 late fee reschedule my app. And put down another 25.00 down payment. Don't think so rip off vet doctors. And I will be disputing my 25.00 charge. And will not be going to this place and plus it was not every clean. First of all I would like to say to everyone who is complaining about the strict late policies: Would you be a minute late for a job interview? If you know your house is far from the clinic, leave an extra ten minutes early!!! Do you honestly think its ok to just show up to ANY appointment late? NO. You made an appointment for a certain time, BE THERE ON TIME! If you don't think you're going to make it, CALL THEM AND THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW IF THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SEE YOU OR NOT. I have been bringing my pets here since they've opened and I always see angry customers treating the staff at the clinic terribly and so disrespectfully, yet THEY are the ones who arrived to their appointment 10 minutes late.I think the KAAWS clinic is a great clinic and I believe in everything Dr. B and all of its employees stand for. Sure every business may have a mishap every one in a while but I feel like the staff at the clinic all care about customer satisfaction and helping your pet out the best way. It's a very clean and welcoming clinic, I have not once smelled a "bad smell" there before. KAAWS is the only way I am able to have four pets and not break the bank, so THANK YOU to all the doctors and staff working there. OMG! This place is amazing. We have 4 dogs so vet bill can pile up. We were recommended to KAAWS and gave them a try this year and were very happy. Prices were VERY reasonable and anywhere from 25% - 50% less than our previous vet on Fry Road. We have dealt with 2 vets (female) at KAAWS and they were both great. I read the "bad" reviews and I must say, I was hesitant at first, but went ahead and took my two pets. I had told myself if the feeling was bad when I got there I would leave and loose my deposit. I got there being skeptical. My dogs acted fine during their check up before surgery so I was ok, I did worry of normal mishaps, but it all went well! They were very nice to me and my two dogs. They were very informative as sweet! For these people complaining about being one minute late, my question is would you be one minute late to your interview for a job? I went to Kaaws Clinic to have 5 of my pets spayed all on the same day. I choose this place not only because of their awesome prices but they also have a in house laboratory. I have had animals spay at low cost places before and this was by far the best experience that I have had. If I had to have animal spayed again this will be the place I'd go. Read Less

I arrived less than 2 minutes late for my appt and was turned away. I have taken all my animals there regularly. I have a very sick dog that takes medication for severe muscle spasms. KAAWS prescribed this medication and has it on file. This time they wouldn't refill without an appt. I arrived less than 2 minutes late. I patiently waited while receptionist was on the phone for 2 minutes. She hung up, looked at clock at 3:19, told me I was late and had to reschedule. I had signed in while she was on the phone and noticed the person before me had signed in at 315 for a 300 appt. As I was waiting and being told i missed my appt the 15 minute late person before me was taken into a room to be seen. I argued what was taking place and was told it was a case by case basis. My dog has to be medicated! The dog that went in on my appt seemed happy and fine. I pleaded for some medication for the time being but was given attitude and refused. Basically my appt was given to the person arriving 15 minutes late and me, arriving 2 minutes late, was turned away. The office manager here is rude, inexperienced, and could care less about animals. I have taken my dog to them several times for shots, giardia problems, and now a spay. They use the same meds as my old vet but are MUCH cheaper. I have NO complaints. As for the reviewer that gave them 1 star because she came at quitting time, my other vet did the same thing to me, and it was with a bleeding cat. They simply told me they were closing and go to the animal hospital on hwy. 6. I like KAAWS very much and would recommend them. Read Less

I just took my dog to this new clinic on FM 529 in Houston and walked away knowing that they do NOT care about the animals. Here is our story. I have a 10 year old mix bread large dog. This afternoon she was laying at the top of the stairs as she is everyday and I invited her outside to check the mail which she loves to do. This time I was stunned that she just laid there and I had to call her 3 times before she would get up. As she was coming down the stairs, she "yelped" every time she stepped on her front right paw. She yelped as soon as I touched her leg and I was not able to do anything without hurting her. I decided I needed to take her to a vets office to make sure that there was not a broken log or something. When I arrived at KAAWS which was the closest place to my home, I immediately saw that their hours indicated they were open until 5:00pm and it was currently 4:47pm. I went inside and the person behind the desk indicated that they were closed. I told her that the door said they did not close until 5:00 and she responded that they don't have any appointments after 4:00. I asked her what they do in the case of an emergency and she suggested I bring the dog back in the next morning. I asked if she were the doctor and she laughed which just annoyed me that much more.I asked who owned the place and she gave me a doctors name and I asked if the doctor was in, but she just walked into the back without responding. I followed her to ask the question again and she said she was "checking, but the doctor was not in". GIVE ME A BREAK!!! This place is cheap because of government support. They pretend they care about the animals during their normal business hours when it is convenient for them, but when things might be a little more challenging, they are happy to show they don't care about the animals at all, just the money they get from you and more so from the government support.
