Late one evening my dog had a cut pad, he was bleeding significantly. Took him to VCA. Front desk displayed excellent customer service. Vet said $550 to staple my dog's pad- I was gonna have to hold him down, no anesthesia, just STAPLE as is. Didn't have the funds and didn't qualify for Care Credit. Paid $100 for the vet to say "Yup, your dog has a cut." Before I left, I asked the vet if she believed my dog would make through the night until I could take him to my regular vet. in a smuggish, dismissal kind of manner she said she couldn't guarantee anything. She simply refused to offer anything other than the offer to come back if we get the funds for treatment. This was one of the greatest customer service experiences I've ever received. I was out of town unfortunately for this emergency and the entire time I was on the phone with the vet or Yasmine who was working the front desk. They were all so knowledgeable about the entire process and were more than accommodating for me by phone, for my friend who was there in person, and most importantly for my puppy. They were up front about they're cost and it was a little much but they really weren't there to upcharge me at any point. They tried to make sure I got the most efficient and appropriate care for my pup. I called them countless times throughout the process and they answered any question or concern I had and even helped calmed me down too. I can't recommend them enough. Sunday night around 1 am, my 1yo terrier dog began acting very strange and dizzy after getting loose outside. He couldn't walk without falling over so I immediately looked up 24 hour animal hospitals being it was so late and his normal vet was closed. We rushed over to VCA Southeast. The staff got us in the back room to get his vitals while we filled out his paperwork but for some reason they could not check his vitals in the room with us where he was comfortable. Any normal vet will let you be with your pet during that but they would not. I knew it would be pretty expensive since it is an after hours clinic but I didn't care because my dog was not okay. They immediately proposed that he had gotten into "illicit drugs" and one of the receptionist said "I thought for sure he was a pot dog".... I was so furious but bit my tongue because I knew he needed help and I had no where else to go. Turned out he had gotten into something he wasn't supposed to in the garage but they never found out exactly what it was. They had to keep him overnight (7 hours) which was EXTREMELY pricey. Overall, we ended up paying over $600 just for him to have IV fluids (which they didn't even get him fully hydrated because his normal vet had to give him more fluids the next morning). The staff was alright and helped my Jack, but I'm only giving them 3 stars for ASSUMING we had given him drugs and not even truly helping him. Luckily, I have an amazing vet that DID help him back at home. Plus, they care about the money a little more than the animals they need to be treating. If this is the closest place or your only option AND you have plenty of money for them, they will do the job but I would recommend not going there. Read Less

We just came back from emergency visit to vet, I would say overall good experience. It was about a 10 minute visit for a checkup on our dog after she got spayed last week, it looked infected and we didn't want to wait until morning. The staff was nice and courteous, so was the doctor. Visit was a little pricey, but what do you really expect when it's an after hours clinic. Two things I didn't like, 1. When we asked if we could go to the back when they took our dog, she said no. I didn't like the fact that we couldn't be with our dog for examination or for the antibiotic shot they gave her. Our normal vet does all of this with us in the room. 2. The shot was a little pricey as well, but again what can we expect for emergency visit. Would have given this place 5 stars if it weren't for those two things. Read Less

I couldn't be more pleased with our experience at this clinic. The staff and vet were very caring, understanding, and thorough. Our sweet dog was treated with the best care and they made sure we understood everything going on with her. Yes it was pricey, but that should be expected when you are taking your animal to an after hour emergency clinic. Unfortunately we were unable to take our dog home as she required IV fluids. Leaving her was the hardest part but I knew she was in good hands. When I went to get her in the morning the vet and staff provided me all her discharge information to take with me to her regular vet. I am very grateful for all the staff and vet that helped our sweet Georgia. It takes a very special person to work at a emergency animal clinic, and I can say this facility possess that. Read Less

The staff was very nice throughout the whole process of helping my dog feel better, but I do have a complaint. We rushed to the hospital & we only brought a reasonable amount of money that we thought we needed to pay for the costs. It ended up being more than we had in hand, & I had to call a family member to rush and bring more (keep in mind, I do live about 30 minutes away). The staff brought my dog back and said they couldn't treat her until the other family member was there so we could pay. I was furious but did not wanted to cause a scene. I was sitting there, watching my dog in pain and had to wait about 25-30 minutes until my family member came. I just couldn't understand how they could leave my dog waiting in pain just for money. Shouldn't it be all about the care and health of the animals & not so much about the money? Overall, I wasn't very pleased. Read Less

Short Version: Listen to me. Please do NOT take your pet here. I was charged $200 to my dogs anal glands expressed. They lied and said they would talk to me before the treatment but never did. When I saw the vet he explained what had ALREADY been done and I was left to foot the bill for devices I never had the opportunity to authorize Long Version: If you're the kind of person that walks into high end stores using phrases like "money is no object" this is your place otherwise AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. Before I detail my visit I encourage you to review the reviews on Google+. They are much more representative of my visit than the reviews here. Also, I want you to know that I am an animal lover and spare no cost when it comes to MEDICAL NECESSITIES for my pets. Look through my other Yelp reviews. I've spent $3000 on eye surgery for my pom. It is not about the money. But at this point I might as well be a dog with a bone. I will not stop until these robbers refund me whats due. I took my dog here to have his anal glands expresses. Any groomer will do this for $10 on the high end but since it was a Sunday and they were bothering him I took him to this ATM, I mean vet. I check in with the front desk and am led to the back to a waiting room with my pup. Technician comes in and explains they are taking him to check his vitals. She said they would bring him back and the doctor would be in to see him. I'm thinking why do you need to take him out of this room to do vitals? But nonetheless I agreed. Here's, where it goes downhill. About 15 minutes later the doctor returns (alone). He says they expressed the anal glads and gave him an antibiotic shot. Antibiotic shot for what? This is a maintenance procedure that's done anytime you take your dog to be groomed. What the heck did he need an antibiotic shot for? Vet says its "standard" and I knew this visit was not going to end well. That was a clear sign that these folks were liars out to get my money. Antibiotic shots are not standard when anal glands are expressed/ Of course I go to check out and am handed a $200 bill. I blew a gasket and went OFF on the receptionist. I mean I leaned into this poor girl. I asked for the doctor. He was seeing another dog (conveniently). I asked for the number to corporate. She claimed I had to call back and speak to the office manage on Monday. Called the office manger Lisa on Monday who was no help. She took my information and said that someone would call me back. Dr. Klein, the Medical Director, called and basically called me a liar. He said the vet told him that he talked to me before giving my dog any treatment and that the assistance corroborated his story. That was a flat out lie because the assistant was never even in the office when the doctor told me what had already been done. We went around a few times and I realized this guy didn't buy into the "customer is always right" adage. He was going to believe his lying thieving staff members over a patient so upset I was literally crying on the phone. Being crooks and taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable point is bad enough. But these guys take it to a new low by being flat out liars. I dont care how much they say they're going advise you of cost beforehand or that the vet will be in to talk to you before treatment is administered. They are not being honest. The truth is that once they whisk your pet away to the back you are at their mercy. They are unethical and dishonest swindlers. Read Less

NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE! THEY ARE CROOKS! So, I had an emergency and took my 6 month old Siamese mix kitten here on a weekend because she could not use her back legs for some reason. We were the only people there and were stuck there for 3 hours while the doctors ran his 'tests'. He also would not let me see my kitten [her name was Truffle], while we were doing the tests. I could hear my cat screaming bloody murder while they had her in there and I had no idea what the doctor did. The initial cost was supposed to be $95, but the guy charged us $500. The doctor said that she was PROBABLY having kidney failure and he could not draw blood from her at all. He also tried to tell us to keep the cat over the weekend, costing $2000-$3000. Okay, so doctor told us not to give her food and water. If she was not eating already, she would not eat anymore. He put this fluid thing in her to keep her hydrated and gave some pain medication. I asked him if I could syringe feed her water and he said no. I spent Saturday all night syringe feeding my cat water and it ended up that she did want food and water, but could not get up to eat or drink anything. On Sunday, she was doing a little better and had more energy thanks to some tuna broth and water that I gave her via syringe. On Monday, we took her to a different vet called the Animal House. In 30 minutes, they finished their tests and gave their condolences to us. They said that Truffle had a blood clot in her major arteries which had blocked blood flow to her back legs and was now affecting some of her organs because of the location of the clot. It could have been possible to save her IF the VCA had actually looked better and had been able to remove the clot, but they did not. My beautiful little cat had to be put down. Read Less

Read Less

Still here after checking in 3 and a half hour ago. Only for them to tell me it's still going to Be about another half hour. This place is a joke. Only here because it's the closest place & I know my puppy is in pain with swollen Anal glands. If not I would have taken her to her actual Vet with Ban field Update! After waiting for 3 and a half hours. The doctor finally. Came in. He was super nice and explained everything to me. & wAs nice enough to tell me about over the counter medication in stead of having to pay more for medication.Read Less

VCA turned what was a terrible experience into a living nightmare. The attending vet was incredibly unprofessional and rude. Upon visiting my regular vet the next morning, I discovered that VCA's care was fraught with malpractice as they had exacerbated a simple injury into a more complex, life-altering injury requiring surgery. I will never return to VCA and strongly encourage everyone else to do the same. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about this clinic. The dr and staff were all wonderful and professional. My 2yo Golden needed life saving stomach surgery. The vet carefully explained everything and kept me informed of my baby's progress before and after surgery. And I was pleased it didn't cost me an arm and leg. A few days later and my dog's incision looks really nice and he's bouncing around, playing with our other dogs, and acting like nothing ever happened. Thank you VCA and staff!

Read Less
