My 10 year old golden retriever have been here for years. Although, I would prefer to see the same vet each visits, the ones I had met were gentle and kind towards her.They take their time to talk to you and advise you on everything that your dog needs. I find this clinic a bit more expensive but we don't go as often--- they really try to make sure that you're doing your best so that you're not constantly returning. My dogs eye was scratched and irritated because of a careless groomer. I called many vets around and no one, even a tech, would even look at dexter without charging an entire exam fee. I wasn't sure if he had a hair in his eye or what. Prestonwood was super welcoming and allowed me to bring Dexter and get him seen by a vet tech to see if his eye had hair without charging me. They even rinsed his eye with saline solution. Everyone was welcoming and the place was super clean and nice. Loved my shirt but helpful experience. Read Less

We were recommended to go to this vet by a coworker and we are so glad we live so close to this clinic! The veterinarians and staff are all so friendly and answer any questions you may have. During office visits, the doctors will exam your pet thoroughly and answer in depth about your concerns or questions, really good bedside manner for your beloved pets. Their boarding areas seem a little small and cramped, but with on-site doctors it may be good for animals who need a little more attention. Read Less

Prestonwood is by far the best vet office we have ever been to. My rescue is a nervous nelly, and isn't particularly great with men. Dr. Taylor is the most gentle, caring soul; he takes the time to sit on the floor and "bond" with her prior to starting her exams so she is comfortable. He also makes me comfortable by explaining his rationale for courses of treatment, and advising on small things like proper dental hygiene for aging dogs. He takes a holistic approach to treatment versus just treating for symptoms- he carefully explains all of the potential options, then works through lifestyle, breed-specific issues, and my dog's individual needs prior to recommending anything. I cannot praise him, or Prestonwood enough. We have been coming here for 3 years, and even make the drive down from the Woodlands, specifically for Dr. Taylor! Read Less

The vet we'd used for years was great for administering annual vaccinations but was mediocre for any other care. We decided to try Prestonwood after reading their reviews. The staff is very hospitable, knowledgeable and it's evident that they genuinely care about your pet. Dr. Ramsbacher and Heath are superb! We have been using the friendly and competent vet staff for over 20 years. Every experience, whether it be medical for our dogs or boarding, has been positive. Great service! We have been coming here for the past 5 years for our pug (all of Daisy's life) and always book her in the VIP suite when we're on vacation. This clinic is exceptionally clean and maintained well and all of the doctors/nurses are friendly and experienced. Daisy always comes back to us healthy, happy, SUPER CLEAN, and excited. Prestonwood is just amazing! The staff is so kind, patient with our questions and genuinely concerned not only about the health of our fur babies but our emotional well being during it all. Our huge mancoon cat of 18 passed recently and when I walked in carrying a large box with tears streaming down my face, the staff stopped what they were doing to get to me right away. All the vets are friendly and gentle with the dogs. They take their time and discuss options, answer questions, provide suggestions, etc. We have been using Prestonwood Animal Clinic for 16 years and their rates/prices have hardly increased. We became "dog people" later in life and I don't know how we would have managed without Prestonwood Animal Clinic. So many questions about dogs! We're enjoying our second little rescue baby, Lilly, who unfortunately has some health problems. The staff at Prestonwood has been so helpful and patient with us throughout the testing and diagnosing process. We are grateful for their knowledge and their kindness. We found this gem 2 years ago after I took home 4-day old stray kittens from my job. They were absolutely wonderful and helped us so much. They did not charge us for the first few visits as the kittens were so young and they really wanted to help us. In the end 2 of the 5 orphans survived and we take them to this clinic every time now all the way from Katy. All the staff is wonderful and very friendly. And we love our vet Dr. Ramesbacher. They may be more expensive then some clinics but you truly get what you pay for. An awesome team who care for our pets as much as we do! Read Less

Hello all! I just wanted to say that I was incredibly pleased with this veterinarian clinic! I have two mini-lop rabbits and I just brought my male rabbit in to get neutered. Now as most rabbit owners know.... this can be a risky surgery (even for the healthiest of buns). Dr. Taylor is the rabbit specialist there and he did a wonderful job handling our bunnies exam and procedure! The cost of the exam + surgery was incredibly reasonable. This place is awesome! We've been taking our 2 beloved cats for 6years at this location! 1 cat was Australian and they looked her over gently as soon as she landed in Houston. Very recently we had to put her to sleep and the vets & techs were so kind & gentle with our beloved cat as well as our family. It was a difficult decision to make and they were very kind about it. Our other cat, a pure-breed Ragdoll, came to them as a kitten. They treated our little one very well & thorough! I have recommended this vet to family & friends. Highly recommend!!! Read Less

We have been bringing our animals here for almost two years now. We started off with our cat that we adopted (as a very young kitten from a shelter). He had fleas, a respiratory infection, and was very under weight. Thanks to them he is now a very healthy adult cat. We recently got two puppies that we have brought here too. We have seen every vet at the practice and are happy to see who ever is available first. We never really wait very long either. They may not have the cheapest prices around, but they aren't the most expensive either. We've never had a bad experience and we always leave satisfied that our pets are well taken care of and have had the best care. Read Less

From the friendly staff at the front desk to the assistants to the veterinarians, they are caring. They take time to listen and then explain findings and options. We've had to make the horrible decision twice to say it's time to put an end to a pet's life. The compassion displayed was incredible. They didn't rush us. They helped make a horrible experience easier. We moved to Houston in 1996 and started using them as they were in our subdivision. Prestonwood Animal Clinic is one of the best animal clinics I have been to. There are closer veterinarians around, but I don't mind traveling a little further because I know that I can trust Prestonwood. We have a rabbit and a dog and both animals are well taken care of at Prestonwood. The staff is very friendly. The vets are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all animals. We take our rabbit exclusively to Dr. Taylor who is an amazing vet. He's very gentle with her and knows exactly how to treat her. We have three dogs and I found this vet almost 6 years ago when we lived down the road. 5 years ago we moved to the other side of 290 and I love this practice so much that I continue to use it for all my dogs' needs, driving a minimum of 30-45 minutes each way just to come here. The front office staff is wonderful--pleasant, courteous, and genuinely helpful. The techs are always patient with my dogs. The doctors are awesome! I have had several different doctors work with my dogs over the years and have been very pleased with all. My dogs have had several surgical procedures and they are always very transparent with pricing quotes, giving a low and high estimate. Every time one of my dogs has had a procedure done the doctor calls once it's finished to update me on how things went, or calls during if there is an issue to be resolved. During office visits the doctors spend ample time and listen carefully to address all concerns. I cannot recommend them enough.Read Less

We have been highly impressed on both occasions with all aspects of Prestonwood Animal Clinic. The staff is extremely professional and very friendly. The vet and her assisting tech actually got down on the floor with our yorkie to make her feel comfortable on our first visit and that truly impressed us. They made the entire process painless for both myself and our yorkie. They were completely understanding about our concerns over costs and they were great about fully disclosing all costs before they took any action. They made recommendations but didn't push anything on us, and the vet was very thorough with answering all of our questions. She was not rushed and spent a good amount of time with us talking about our pet's health overall. Their facilities are very welcoming and did not have the typically medicinal smell of a medical facility at all. Our yorkie was excited to go inside and spent the entire time happy and running around, she was not anxious or nervous and it means a lot to find that in vet. Best exotic pet clinic I could find. Its clean, nice neighborhood, no waiting time, and affordable. Whenever I go with my Guinea pig , the staff is really nice and the Veterinarian who sees him is very knowledgeable. He immediately knows whats wrong with him and will treat and cure him AND give me advice for prevention or any other questions I have. Also everything is very affordable even though I thought it would be expensive to treat a guinea pig. Read Less

I recently moved to Houston a few months ago and found this vet clinic on google maps. I have been nothing but impressed. I now have two dogs, one of which is a 5 month old Great Dane and they have taken their time with him from a physical to vaccinations AND asking if he knew any tricks. I said yes and when giving him treats before we left, they practiced his newly learned tricks. Love them! Read Less

I would highly recommend Prestonwood Animal Clinic. We took our Mastiff here after a week of stomach issues. Dr. Ramsbacher was very sweet, explained everything in detail, and made us feel comfortable in a scary situation. Our mastiff ended up having to have surgery through all of this the front staff was very helpful and we also had Dawn helping us. She was heartwarming and brought comfort to us. We are happy to say our Mastiff recovered well, and we owe a big thanks to the staff at Prestonwood Animal Clinic for saving our Mastiff. Read Less

They were also willing to give our cat her medications at no charge, all we had to do was bring her in. The facilities were spotlessly clean, and it was very comfortable in the waiting areas. I think the doctors there are truly exceptional.  Anytime we're unable to get in to see Dr Taylor on the fly and we see someone else, I'm consistently impressed and pleased.  A few years back they were extremely compassionate and helpful when we had to put down our dog. Really enjoy the service my dog and cat gets when the come here. The facility is always clean. They are able to get me in the same day and the staff is always friendly. My cat really doesn't like other people but they were able to calm her down and keep her calm throughout her entire wellness exam. The are really good about answering all my questions and helping calms any of my fears of they arise with my animals. They even have a boarding facility onsite and are very nice and friendly. Last summer when I boarded my dog I called everyday to check up on him. The staff was kind and were able to give me a detailed report on how he was doing. I first went to this vet solely on knowing one the vet techs that worked here 5 years ago. I was hooked after the visit. I now travel 15 miles to continue to take my furry kidsI did have one  bad visit from one vet that worked here for a brief moment and am glad that she no longer works there.  She stated that my female dog was in heat but a month later she had pups.  Really? Did you even get your degree? But enough about the rant since she no longer works there.Now on to the raves about this great vet. Had to wait two and a half hours for a regular check up. The doctor told us two different things, while in the exam room she said our puppy was perfect and healthy, but when checking out it was a whole different story. So not only am I confused about the entire visit (since the doctor didn't come outside during checkout to explain anything that was going on) my overall experience was confusing and long. I won't ever waste my time here again. It seems like they just want to sell you stuff to add to your ticket without any explanation as to why your pet needs it. Read Less

The only reason I am giving them two stars is because the veterinarians are very capable, caring people. The boarding staff, on the other hand, is nearly incompetent. I have a very sickly three-year-old dog. She requires daily medications, careful handling, and close monitoring of her eating (and occasional force feeding) because of her neurological disorder.I walked into Prestonwood to drop off my dog. I explained to a very unenthusiastic employee that I was here to drop off my dog for boarding. She buzzed back to boarding, and a man came out to take my dog and all of her items. The extremely cheerful (sarcasm emphasized) front desk girl had moved on to helping everyone else behind me. As I mentioned earlier, my dog has many health issues and there are very specific instructions that I have to leave for her to get the care she requires. So I waited another 15 minutes behind all the people who came in after me to leave the pertinent information with the boarding staff. I finally get back up to my favorite front desk girl, and tell her there is information she needs about my dog before I leave (shouldn't she be the one asking me for information about my dog before I leave?). I begin to rattle off her medication requirements, that the medication needs to be refrigerated, what to do if she's not eating, etc. The girl just stares back at me. I ask her if I should write this down for her. I'm told, "No that's okay." She didn't write anything down, and I walk out feeling very concerned.I leave for my vacation and am gone for 12 days. Because of an uneasy feeling in my gut, I call every other day to talk to the boarding staff. I am reassured every time that she's eating wonderfully and that she's thriving and doing great. Upon picking her up, I'm horrified:1) She had lost 1.5 lbs (weighing only 4 lbs, this is nearly half her body weight). Weird, because I was told she was eating all of her food every time I called. 2) Upon paying the bill, I realized I was paying for a vet visit. No one had called me and told me she was sick. No one mentioned it in the 4-5 times I called and asked about how she was doing. I ask why there is a vet visit. The front desk girl is like, "Oh ya! I forgot about this." and grabs some medication that I'm supposed to be giving her. ...Glad I asked about the vet visit or I wouldn't have gotten the medication she needed?3) The next day I had to take her back to the vet (she had seen the vet 3 days earlier without my knowledge for a stomach issue mentioned in #2) for an ear infection. The ear infection was pretty advanced. I am a law student, NOT a veterinarian and I could tell that it was bad just from picking up her floppy ear. How did no one catch that during her first vet exam? Checking a dog's ears seems like it should be standard protocol. When people go to the doctor, regardless of what their ailment is, doctors listen to their chest and look in their ears. It seems the same would apply when a dog is seen by a vet, but apparently not.4) She had a section of hair missing from her right back side that had clearly been cut by someone. Not a small bit, that only someone who is neurotic would notice--but a large chunk. I went back in to get an explanation, but no one at Prestonwood would own up to it. I guess my dog just cut that huge chunk of hair in her free time when she was bored hanging out in the kennel. In summary:It seems there are quite a few people who have had positive experiences. Those people also seem to be the ones who have pets that don't need much attention and are healthy/happy. If you have a pet with special needs and you're looking for somewhere to board your dog--look elsewhere.**This is not a blanket statement applicable to every Prestonwood employee. In previous times boarding her, I remember a great employee named Meghan (spelling?). I don't know where Meghan was during this horrific boarding experience, or if she's even still there, but I won't be back to find out. Read Less

Excellent team of vets and staff that are genuinely caring and compassionate.  We have used Dr. Morales, Taylor, and Kennedy for the past 5 years for our cat and dog through MANY pet health issues - feline diabetes (yes, I'm serious), dog skin cancer removal, allergies, and regular checkups .  They have always explained issues completely, answered my many questions, and never seem pushy with expensive services.  Based on our previous vets, I think their services are very reasonably priced.Their cat boarding services are also excellent and reasonably priced.  I felt confident boarding our cat who required special feeding instructions and medicine twice a day. I must admit, I picked this vet solely based on location/convenience, but it turned out great.  The environment is clean and calming.  Every staff person was friendly and clearly loves animals.  Dr. Lopez was just wonderful with our dog, Max, who was not thrilled to be there.  The prices were reasonable and less than we are used to in California.  Very happy with Prestonwood! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else! I have 2 pomeranians that are like my children. I know if I ever need anything they are always there to help. One of my poms has had two (FHO's) done and my other pom has been spayed, all by Dr. Morales. My girls bounced back amazingly from their surgeries!
