Do not recommend giving the pet to the hotel and clinic the staff does not respond to requests, says one does completely differently, be sure to check the account because they can include a service you did not ask for, our dog stank of urine while we had a bath in the account that we did not order since my own dog after such establishments, asked to use our collar for a walk in the end, they did on their own what the dog is still coughing from a throat hammer, they gave toys that the dog felt calmly as a result they lost both the collar and the toys were later found, but they did not even get toys from the pouch, the dog was torn to the skin. ready to make double vaccines just to make money! The veterinarian suggested that we have our dog Chato get his teeth cleaned, so we took him in for that service. They ended up extracting a tooth (we still don't know if it was 1 or 2 teeth, they told us originally it was2 then later said it was 1). They gave us an antibiotic to apply in his ears within a week he went completely deaf! I took him back in and informed the vet that he had lost all of his hearing.the vet told me he was already deaf, which was a lie! He always heard my husband drive up and the mailman. He had no hearing problem prior to this. Now, he couldn't even hear 2 feet away! The vet also said , he never heard of this medication doing this that our dog was just old. He reapplied the medication to his ears again and told me to keep applying the medication. When my husband came home, he couldn't believe what I was telling him.He read on the fine print of the medication, that the medication can make older dogs go deaf! The vet doesn't even know what he is prescribing? After about a month about a third of his hearing has returned but no more. Now, he has lost weight, he back legs are quivering, his limp glands are swollen and his demeanor has changed. Bottom line , every since the procedure of the teeth, he has gone down hill. We've paid an enormous amount of money to have them mess up our dog. So beware of this clinic and teeth cleaning procedures. D.B. I would give them -5 stars! Read Less

My first experience here was very good as they were open early and were able to treat my fur children. I sat with a vet who was passionate and knowledgeable, noticed some displeasure in the rest of the staff but gave it little mind until I brought my pets in for boarding and a follow up. From here I noticed the disconnect between the staff as I was assured that my pets would likely not need anesthesia but a heads up anyway on the cost. I was aware of the cost for the office visit and to board them overnight. When going in the back room to sit with the vet, I noticed the tech who came to get their stats was not gentle or seem to care for the animals discomfort or well being, which I had become accustomed to from the previous 4 vet clinics frequented in the past. Noticing my vet's loss of excitement I asked about the quality of the clinic only to receive a generic answer with the face a person would make when telling them they great in a lime green and hot pink dress that's 2 sizes 2 small. To top it off, when returning to pick up my pets I was surprised with a bill more than double what I had expected to pay, from services I had not agreed upon and was told were probably not necessary. To add to that I was greeted by a cheerful staff member who in singing and bringing out my pets paid no attention to the flailing of the carriers which added to their emotional stress. Overall, I am looking to make the experience easier on my pet to avoid fighting with them to get there in the first place. I am willing to invest in their well being, care and love. So I don't think that transparency and compassion are something to much to ask for from a facility that specializes in animal care. I recommend looking around some more before making this your first option Read Less

I love this clinic, the front desk ladies, the vet assistants and the vets! I had only ever taking my dog to Banfield (after months of digestive problems, trying to upsell me on things, horrible turnover rates with the vets and a wellness plan that did little to keep my dog well. ) but last year after bringing foster dogs to this clinic decided to switch my own dogs care here as well. I have not regretted it for one moment. Dr. Tharp came highly recommended by a couple of people I know and I have to agree. He's got an amazing bedside manner, cares about the animals and will do his best to diagnose whatever issue they're having. I've also seen Dr. Rob couple of times Dr Tharp was unavailable and was impressed with him as well. The clinic itself has not tried to upsell me on services the way Banfield did and has been reasonably priced especially when my dog needed x-rays during the holidays. Since it's at an older house, and there's not much parking, if you come when it's crowded, parking can be a challenge. But that's really the only downside. Read Less

After far too many negative experiences with several uninformed or cold vets and reception staff at Winrock Animal Clinic, ugh, I finally asked around my Briargrove neighborhood for vet ideas and MANY people mentioned Voss Rd and Dr Ben Tharp. So I ended up taking my beloved Scotty/poodle dog here for exams, tests, and, sadly, surgery. We were treated so well by Ben Tharp that I was both amazed and frustrated that I hadn't thought earlier to get referrals from other dog owners in the area. I actually wanted to call Winrock and tell their indifferent vets to meet Tharp just to see how a caring, thorough and experienced veterinarian should work. I just can't say enough great things about how well he cared for my dog and my fears over the surgery! The only minuses here are the crowded waiting area on Thursdays and the sometimes stressed counter staff. However, this place is popular for a good reason! Great vets and loyal clients! Read Less

Not only are they the channel 2 pet  experts, their also ours! I'm so grateful that they are always conscientious about costs while still being as thorough as possible in the care and testing of my pets. Do NOT take your pet here. Both receptionists were rude and didn't have a clue how to run an office. Neither one of them knew what the other was doing. They allowed kids to run around unsupervised and couldn't manage the few clients they had in the waiting room. Finally after checking back twice we were able to go back to the exam room. The tech took my dog to the back without any explanation. While waiting I noticed how filthy the exam room was and wanted to leave immediately. 10 minutes later the tech and vet came back. It was our first time there and the vet never asked any questions about my dog especially if she was allergic to anything. He immediately started putting drops in her eyes and pulled out some 1985 black light (that he couldn't work). He listened to her breathing and said, "I'm thinking it's just allergies" and said he would write a script for drops. Never once did anyone explain the procedures or cost prior to completing the exam. Nor did he offer any educational explanations for what he was doing or any insight as to why dogs come to the vet for similar issues. I was told to go to the receptionist to pay. Only to wait 30 more minutes and still not be finished. The receptionist said she had to wait for the doctor to finish with the chart. When the chart came through she said $135 with no explanation of the charges. When I asked she said, "After you pay it will be in your bill." I was so mad and my dog was upset for being there for 90 minutes. I just paid and left as fast as possible. If you love your pets you will not subject them to this staff or clinic. It was the worst vet experience I've had in over 20 years. I will never go back. Of course there is more than I could ramble on about but hopefully you get the picture. Read Less

I will never set foot in this place again. I have been going to Dr Tharp since I was a child. Several years ago, my cat was diagnosed with epilepsy. He had to take medication twice a day to control his seizures. I had no trouble refilling his scrips until the past couple years, when I was required to bring him into Voss Road once a year for blood testing.I would only get a month's notice and was told I couldn't refill scrips until my cat saw the vet. This made it very difficult to keep up with his refills. There were a few times he went days without medication because they refused to refill it and I couldn't always afford the visit on short notice. They wouldn't work out any payment plans with me. I had to watch him have seizures knowing there was nothing I could do. This happened again a few weeks ago. I took him in to be seen on a Saturday first come first serve, but they were already closed. I called the office and left a message with Dr Tharp advising him my cat is having seizures and I am incredibly worried...wondered if he could make an exception and call scrip in for me.Well, I never received a call back and sadly, my cat died the following day while having a seizure. To add insult to injury, when I contacted the vet to find out cremation options, not once did they offer condolences. But, they certainly made it clear that I had to pay them $180 up front. They reiterated this when I walked in the door, puffy eyed with tears rolling down my face. They also said they would tell Dr Tharp my cat passed. I was shocked that he never called me. I appreciate the sympathy. Two weeks later, I don't have his ashes. I call them and they claim they had tried calling me and CANNOT FIND HIS ASHES. Really? I am livid.Long story short, this place is all about money. They don't care about the welfare of your pet, they are rude and inconsiderate. I am very disappointed and after sitting on hold for twenty minutes while they try to locate my cat's ashes, only to be told they still can't find them, I am beyond frustrated. I don't see how this happens and how they can justify any of their actions.I wish I had never gone to this vet to treat my sweet cat. He deserved way better than this. Had I gone elsewhere, he would probably still be alive now. Read Less

Hello, We took our kitty to the vet as an emergency due to a urine track blockage. He had to stay for 3 days. When we picked him up, the staff was not customer friendly. It seems they were more interested in their personal stuff then the customers. The doctor Rani A. Kamal which apparently is new to the pet clinic is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and has no manners at all. I cannot understand why they hired her. She did not explain ANYTHING to us even if we asked many times, talks over you and pretty much does not give a care for clients or pets, plus she has an attitude. Our poor kitty had side effects on a bad procedure so we had to call again and ask for answers which we never had. Also, they did some other tests to our kitty without our authorization and gave him stronger medicine he did not need and now the kitty is traumatized and us with him too. And of course they tried to charge us double the amount without our confirmation giving us stupid examples like dealers do the same yeah but dealers call you to ask customer if they want to move forward or not. If you love your pet, i highly recommend NOT TO GO to this clinic especially in the care of "doctor Kamal" she should not be a vet at all. Thank you. Read Less

Voss Road Animal Clinic is not in the business of caring for your pet....they're just in the business to make money. I had been taking my pets there for 18 years, but now that their bills are coming due on their building renovations, all they care about is $$$$! Two years ago my cat Buddy was diagnosed with hyperthryoidism and was placed on medication which I order by phone and have delivered by an independent vet pharmacy. A year ago VRAC refused to renew his prescription and said that I had to bring Buddy in for ""blood tests and lab work"", which I did to the tune of $250. Buddy was so traumatized by the visit that he did not eat and hid for 3 days! (Apparently the lousy tech couldn't find a vein and stuck him multiple times.) Now, a year later, VRAC will not renew his prescription until I bring him in for another round of $250 blood tests and lab work which will certainly kill him. He is 18 years old!! And had been doing great with this medication, and will probably do great for another 2 years with the medication (without the ""blood and lab tests""). What's the point other than $$$$ for the clinic???????? Voss Road Animal Clinic just sentenced my Buddy to death so that they can make money! I used to take my dogs there, but moved when our doctor changed clinics. There has always been a feeling that they are just out to make the most money they can on their patients. Regardless of what the pet (or pet owner) might need, they always seemed to have the most expensive option. I just called to see if I could board my dogs there over Thanksgiving (since every place else in town is booked) and they want to charge me $55 to examine my dogs before they can stay there. Even though they are currently under the care of another Vet and will never go back there as a patient. I even offered to get copied of their records to prove that they are up to date and current on their exams and shots, but they said NO, they have to charge $55 for all pets who are not patients (this is before the boarding charges, of course). No wonder they are the only place in town that isn't booked up for boarding. RIDICULOUS!!!!!! So glad we followed our Doctor to his new clinic! Read Less

Dr. Hayes helped me through the toughest decision I've ever had to make, putting my baby Coki to sleep. His gentle words and honesty gave me the strength needed to make such a heart wrenching decision. I took my dog to a specialist at Gulf Coast Animal Specialists that only cared about making money and did not tell me that my dog's cancer was so advanced that nothing would save him. Dr Hayes was honest and cared about my dog's well being as well as my peace of mind. He was so generous that he didnt even charge me for putting my dog to sleep. Thank you Dr Hayes and may God bless you. Read Less

Read Less

Thank you. Read Less

I have witnessed two Euthanasia sessions in the past and thought to myself...how automated and uncaring this is. I was blown away with the way my 12 year friend was treated. And, by his whole staff! I came in crying and holding my pet (Salvador). Then a staff member escorted my wife, me and Salvador to a private room with a bed (to be certain Sal was comfortable) and made me feel as though I was letting a family member go. Dr. Ben Tharp was so empathetic and very gentle with him. I have never seen or experienced that before and would highly recommend my AGGIE friend Dr. Ben Tharp.recommend using my AGGIE friend Ben Tharp.

I hope that they can live with themselves....and Buddy comes back to haunt them. Read Less

Read Less
