Erin (the groomer) is great. I have a rescue who after 3 1/2 years, still does like to be groomed and I also have a 5 year old yorkie-poo who used to love to be groomed. She now seems to feed on her adopted sister's anxiety. Erin handles both of the very well. You would know she had any problems with the yorkie-poo, see comes out picture perfect. As for the rescue, she looks great, the only area Erin was not allowed to really work on was her tail. Oh well. The staff at Eastex continues to change. There are a couple of familiar faces, that I'm always happy to see. Despite the continuous changes, the staff members are friendly and do a very good job of taking care of the customers. My old veterinarian retired after 40 years in practice so I had to find a new Vet for my babies. I was very nervous and in all honesty we had some hiccups the first couple of visits but they owned up to their mistakes and bent over backwards to make it right. That says a lot about a practice. Awesome first visit! I took my dog in for her annual checkup. We were able to get in the same day! The clinic was clean and odor-free. The receptionist was very courteous. We were taken immediately to an exam room—no holding your pet out in a public area hoping none of the dogs pick a fight. The tech (Dave) was extremely friendly and professional. Dr. Gilbert and her staff are fantastic! After a terrible visit at a vet clinic on 494, which will remain nameless, we came to see Dr. G and had a complete 180 degree experience. We have been many times in the past 4 months since my dog is older with complications, but they're so kind, know how to treat me and my pup and know what they're doing. They helped my dog with a skin infection and lung inflammation in the past two weeks. This place is amazing! They are very good adapting to communication methods, since I do not hear very well on the phone, they have accommodated me through email. I have taken my furbaby here several times for vaccinations and check ups. I have also ordered from their online store, which is convenient and I know that it is great quality products that I can feel safe and comfortable giving to my dog. The employees and vet of Eastex Vet Clinic are angels. I found a baby kitten on the curb of a busy street on a hot sunny day possibly thrown from a car as the little kitten couldn't move. I brought in the kitten without calling to make an appointment, and the vet took the kitten in for me and did a through scan while I went back to work. I live over an hour away and already have 5 cats and a dog and wasn't sure what to do with the baby kitten. I got a call from the vet letting me know indeed the kitten was thrown from a moving vehicle as injuries showed in x rays. She knew I lived far away and  my situation,and told me her vet tech would take the baby and the costs would be covered. I couldn't be more appreciative for this clinic's staff and the care they've provided for the lucky kitten. I went back weeks later to thank them in person with some baked goods and hugs. I had my cat spayed here. The receptionist who answers walked me through the entire process and answered all of my questions! We brought her in early the next morning and they called and kept me posted throughout the day. My Chanel was back home with us before dinner time!!!! So we instantly felt we had made the right pick for our 5 babies upon our first visit to Eastex Vital Pet. We love how personal the expeience has always been and that they always know your name and that of your pets. Then recently something happned that solidified our love for Eastex Vital Pet even more. On December 23rd, two baby girl puppies were dumped in front of one of our facilities (we are managers for a dog boarding and daycare facility) all the way by the Hobby airport. Needless to say, Vital Pet was no where near the closest option for us whatsoever but the severity of the situation made it crucial that we go somewhere we trusted and felt comfortable. Both babies were in truly bad shape as they had been repeatedly and severely abused and badly burned by some kind of chemical. At that moment we didn't know what to do but we knew we had to help save these puppies. So we stopped on the way and emptied out our savings account and began the long drive towards Vital Pet. We knew this could get expensive and even though we had just met these puppies, we knew in our hearts that we had to get them the help they needed no matter what!! Tragically, one of the pups was so badly burned and her wounds so severe that the only real option for her was to put her down and out of misery. The entire crew at Vital Pet put us at such ease. They were so professional and managed to keep us calm during this awful experience, which under such terrible circumstances, was not an easy feat. When it came time to pay, we were prepared to give them the entire amount we had withdrawn from our savings account. Much to our surprise, they asked us for only $38!!! We couldn't believe our ears!! Now let me just emphasise that I am very much of the mindset that when services are rendered, in turn services should be paid for. I never want something for nothing because thats not my mentality and when I am at work, I  certainly do expect payment for services just like any other business. People often assume that simply because we work with animals and we all have huge hearts, that this somehow translates into giving away services free of charge. However, at the end of the day we are still a business and we are held accountable just like any where else. So what I am trying to get at is that I do not want everyone to try and abuse the privilege and expect to get services without paying for them. The message here is that in this particular case, they were aware of the horific details and the severity of the situation and in turn they made the decision to bless us with an incredible act of kindness and we will be forever grateful to them for this. So now we will be bringing our new addition as we adopted the surviving puppy and added her to our pack. And she will always have the best care because we will always take her and all of our babies to Eastex Vital Pet. So trust me, if you're looking for somewhere to take your own precious fur baby, look no further, this is the place!! Read Less

I brought my Beagle, Romeo, here after a strange thing popped up on his chest. I was so nervous going to a new vet, but our usual vet is more than 2 hours away. I was AMAZED by this place! It doesn't look like much more than an office from the outside, but the staff and the office cat were so warm and welcoming, it literally felt like a home. Everyone was so kind and caring, it put me at ease. They are also not a money-seeking business. I felt like they were appropriate with pricing. I was worried when I waited for the estimate for Romeo's surgery, because I know they can get ridiculously expensive. But they came back and I was shocked!!! So, all in all, Romeo had his surgery, it's not cancer, and he is doing great. Yay! And now we have a new home town vet! I will definitely be bring my dogs here from now on. So far I like this clinic.  Everyone was professional and very nice.  It was clean and surprisingly did not even smell like animals.I took my cat here after he injured his hind paw.  I called the vet and was able to get an appointment the same morning by Dr Gilbert.  As soon as I arrived I was seen immediately. Normally my cat is a sweet boy but a trip to the vet turns him into a scared, angry, and very uncooperative cat. Despite being such an difficult patient the techs and veterinarian were very understandable and accommodating and were able to examine him and clean the wound (although they had to put him under anesthesia to do it - that's how uncooperative he was!!!) I was just so pleased that they were willing and able to help despite his unwillingness.As far as the cost, veterinarian clinics aren't cheap but the pricing was reasonable and much less than the clinic where I used to take my pets.  While he was under anesthesia I decided to go ahead and get his vaccines updated too and even with that the bill was much lower than I had imagined it would be.Overall I was very pleased with my experience. I was extremely happy with Dr. Buck and the staff at this Eastex Clinic. My 10 year-old dachshund was in extreme pain and they got me in quickly for an exam, even as my first visit. Dr. Buck described the possible problems and prognosis in detail. They were very sweet to Jesse the entire time through doing an x-ray and IV medications. Dr. Buck spent a lot of time reviewing the x-ray film with me and telling me the best course of action. Everyone in the clinic was really nice and caring. 5-star service. Read Less

This past weekend I took both of my dogs for their annual check up on a Saturday morning. All went GREAT as usual. I got home and my little dog wasn't feeling to well so he curled up to take a nap. I just figured that he had long morning since he had just gotten his annual shots. Well when he woke up about 11:45 he had 2 little bumps on his nose. I wasn't too worried but just in case I called the vet since they were still open. They asked if I could bring him back because it sounded like he might be having an allergic reaction to his vaccinations. I said I'd be there as quick as I could but it would probably be after 12 which is the time they close on Saturday. They of course said no problem, WE'LL WAIT FOR YOU. When we finally got there my poor little dogs nose had gotten so swollen and and his eye was swelled shut too. They took him straight to the back for a benadryl shot and made sure everything was ok. There was no extra charge either, even though they saved us a ton of money from having to go to the vet ER or something. About 15 minutes later, they brought him out holding him like a little baby. He look a bit better already. Poor little guy!!! The staff is ALWAYS very kind and welcoming to us when we come in. They always love on both of my dogs as if they would their own dogs. I got a phone call Monday morning asking how my dog was doing. Needless to say he's doing great and was back to his normal self by Sunday morning. I've been going to Eastex Vet Clinic for over 20 years and every experience has been great. There have been many doctors through the years and all have been caring and knowledgeable. For the past couple of years we've been seeing Dr. Rubio. He really knows his medicine - both anatomy and physiology. He is careful with my finances and always discusses the cost with me prior to conducting lab tests, x-rays, procedures, and etc. My dog has been with me for 8 1/2 years and he is my friend and constant companion. My dog trusts Dr. Rubio and responds to his care and I really appreciate Dr. Rubio's gentle ways with him. I can't even imagine why someone would ever have an issue with Dr. Rubio's manner. Also, the vet technician, Cissy is a wonderful animal person and my dog and my cats all love her. I am very thankful that I have a place to take my precious animals where I am confident they will be well cared for.Read Less
