VCA is only out to make money. Our dog just had an exam 48 hours ago and now they say he must have another $75 exam before being allowed to have a rabies vaccine. They claim an exam is required to get a rabies shot but SPCA does not follow this guideline. That’s where we ended up last year with no exam, just a $10 shot that took 10 seconds. We will be looking for a new vet and will never recommend VCA and will actually do the exact opposite. Read Less

Friendly place and helpful in an emergency. They get you in fast and give you a write up of costs to review before treating, so you know exactly what their plans are and how much it will run. It isn't cheap. The vet we saw was knowledgeable and friendly, not in a rush, and took time to answer all our questions. They have a different pricing structure during the day, evening (until 8pm I think), and late night. We've also taken strays there a few times to scan for a microchip, and they're always happy to do so. I definitely recommend them if you have an emergency. Read Less

WORST PLACE EVER!!! Took my dog to the vet at midnight last night to VCA, they did an ultrasound since I thought she was pregnant but she said there was no heartbeat and had something serious that required surgery right away and the vet showed me the ultrasound on a picture from her PERSONAL cell phone and showed it quickly. I knew that was weird and the price for the surgery was super expensive so I searched for another vet and went to the O'Connor animal hospital they did another ultrasound and turns out she's having two puppies! And no surgery needed. And the vet actually gave me a picture of the ultrasound and said she's ok. I'm never taking my dogs to VCA. If we would have proceeded with the surgery she would have lost her puppies!! I'm so mad and annoyed right now!! Read Less

Our dog suffered a compound fracture on Friday night the worst possible time with Monday being Presidents' Day we went to an emergency clinic who said they could help and all they did was drug our dog and for over $2k would keep our dog suffering and drugged until Tuesday with a chance for bone infection to set in. On Sat we drive across town records in hand to that a specialist was available at Lake Ray Hubbard Emg Clinic and same result because their specialist didn't agree it was an emg. And for over $2k they would get to it in Tuesday after 50 plus calls btw my wife and she with each advertised 24 hr emg clinic specializing in broken bones and being told to come in with no commitment they could get a specialist to come in. We found Dr Erin Corbin DVM DACVS at Metroplex Animal Hospital who took the time to review results that we already had vs trying to come in and waste our time. Dr. Corbin stepped up and saved our one year old Brittany and we get to bring her home to recover on Sunday vs. 99.8% of other places letting her suffer for three more days and possibly die. I do like this place, however the multiple times I have brought my pets, I wait over an hour to see a vet technician and then an additional hour just to see the vet. My only advice to coming here to be prepared to wait a long while. The techs are very nice and the vets are equally as nice, however, the front desk staff does not seem to care about clients having to wait long periods of time and have even skipped me on occasion, but once the vet gets to you, the service is well done. If I had the opportunity, I do think I would find another clinic that honored my appointment time. But again, the quality of the tech and vet staff would be hard to surpass. The longest I have waited has been over four hours for a checkup and vaccine. Read Less

Absolutely great and caring staff. Scared by negative reviews at first but this place was recommended by our normal vet. We had an emergency involving two dogs and we were roomed and seen very quickly. The veterinarian we had, Dr. Clark, stayed with our case throughout their stay in the hospital. *Very* polite and involved in each animal's situation. She was never rushed, took time to explain all of our options at each stage. Loved that she was open to all options- traditional medicine (referring to neurologists) and not (considered acupuncture, etc.). She even "comp-ed" a few services while our dog stayed overnight-- including an ultrasound-- as she wanted to do it for investigative purposes and increasing her own knowledge of the pet case. Because she had not gone over these services with us in the price consultation, she did not charge. When we met the overnight vet, Dr. Barnes, we were even more impressed. We came in to visit our one dog staying overnight and she was curled up *inside* of a kennel/cage with a dog. She explained that this dog would normally cry loudly until it was held and she wanted the visit with our dog to be quiet and relaxing. So amazing to see a vet that is truly passionate about her job and willing to do what it takes to keep animals and owners comfortable. Every member of the vet tech team that we interacted with was also amazing. Very knowledgeable and polite (and *very* strong!) :). My only criticism comes from the standard nature of it being an emergency hospital. When we were told to expect a call within a certain time frame, it was either much later than that or we had to call in and hunt down the doctor/tech for results. Again, though, that is to be expected from an ER-- they have unplanned cases coming in constantly. Absolutely recommend this team. Their passion shows in the work that they do and their prices were very competitive. Thank you so much! Read Less

Excellent service. I brought my 3 year old pomeranian to her primary vet due to her squatting issue that day, and he ended up seeing that she had bladder stones. He was unwilling to operate on her until Monday, and a stone ended up blocking her from urinating, so I had to rush her to the VCA. Ashley, the vet tech was very helpful in the fact that she listened carefully to all my descriptions, symptoms, etc. Dr. Martinez was excellent in explaining the procedure, the risks, and reasons as to why she needed to do what she was doing. The staff helped me through the night when I called to check on my dog, and made sure I was aware of any new updates. I picked my dog up the next day, and Courtney discharged her. Courtney was over-the-top friendly, very good in her explanations for my dog's discharge instructions (meds, etc.) and helped me get everything to my car. Due to her large amount of meds I called multiple times to ask questions and she and the other staff members were quick to assist me and give me advice. Thank you to VCA for getting my girl Roman in, and taking care of her in a quick, compassionate and efficient way. I will say, it was a little pricey - but it is to be expected from a facility that is able to provide 24/7 services. Read Less

IN RESPONSE TO THE RESPONSE FROM THE OWNER: I WOULD'VE APPRECIATED THE "CONCERN" AT THE TIME IT WAS NECESSARY & REQUIRED. AFTER A WEEK OF GETTING MY DOG FURTHER FROM DEATH (WITH HER VET), IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE TREATMENT PROVIDED AT YOUR CLINIC IS "INEFFECTIVE WITH DOGS OF HER SIZE"... SAVE YOUR PUBLIC RELATION EFFORTS. IF YOU PAID AS MUCH ATTENTION TO YOUR PATIENTS AND STAFF, AS YOU DO TO YOUR GOOGLE REVIEWS, AND MONOPOLIZING ON DESPERATE PET OWNERS, THIS WOULD'VE NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE. I SPENT $1600 ON 4 DAYS OF INTENSIVE TREATMENT AT MY VET... FOR THE SAME TREATMENT, MINUS A DAY, I WAS QUOTED $8000 AT YOURS. TAKING ADVANTAGE OF YOUR CLIENTS BECAUSE OF YOUR OPERATING HOURS IS ONE THING, BUT, PROVIDING INADEQUATE CARE IS ANOTHER. BOTH COMBINED, ACCURATELY SHINE A LIGHT ON YOUR COMPANIES VALUES. BASED ON THE OPINIONS OF THE COMMUNITY SURROUNDING YOU (YOUR PREVIOUS CLIENTS I'VE SPOKEN WITH), I'M NOT SPECIAL, THIS IS NOTHING NEW. AND QUITE TYPICAL. UNLESS YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE YOUR METHODS, I FIND YOUR RESPONSE INSULTING, AT BEST, AND IN NO WAY DO I BELIEVE THERE IS ANY INCENTIVE BUT TO COVER YOUR NAME. I DID NOT WITNESS SUCH A PROMPT CONCERN WHEN MY SICK DOG AND I WERE WAITING AN HOUR TO BE USED AS A "SALE" FOR YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. YOU'RE A MOCKERY TO THE PRACTICE & GIVE IT A BAD NAME. I CAN ONLY HOPE OTHER PEOPLE ARE ABLE TO SEE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PRACTICE THAT IS TRULY CONCERNED AND EDUCATED, AND ONE THAT IS MERELY ATTEMPTING TO ACCOMPLISH A "TASK" IN ORDER TO RAISE NUMBERS ON AN INVOICE. I've been waiting in this waiting room for an hour with my hypoglycemic diabetic dog and still have yet to see a doctor.... To be continued... (Continued after visit)...well, can't say that my rating is any higher. I believe the one star is excessive for this establishment. I attempted to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately, the practice only executed unprofessional greedy, inattentive, and questionable actions. On top of the initial techs inability to recognize that my dog was blind, and shutting the door on her head, the lack of patience, follow thru, and strong desire to "sell" (as quoted by the doctor), was strongly discouraging, and left me with my only desire being to get my dog into a stable state, in order to get her through the night, so I could get her to her vet in the morning. After two hours, and $200 ($180), we accomplished getting her some fluids to keep her from getting dehydrated, and an involuntarily nail clipping, that I was not made aware of until I asked the doctor where my dog was (40 mins later for a 10 min procedure [needless to say, I could've been attempting to feed her and make her comfortable during this time, at home]). I expressed I was ready to have her back and waited another 10 minutes. Not until I opened the door to the tech area, saw her typing, and ordered her to go get my dog, did I actually get her back. I would trust this place as minimal as humanly possible. Did I mention, since the moment the vet walked into our room, we were the only ones there (except for the cackling vet techs complaining of patients)? I am thankful for...their hours. I'm sorry they choose to monopolize because of them... I'm even more sorry that, with my particular situation, they didn't deserve the extra money one bit. I would avoid this place altogether, if you can. Oh, and turns out, my, trustworthy, vet has recommended much less to fix my dogs problem, stating that most of what they recommended was excessive, and unnecessary. If you do have to go here, be prepared to hear a sales pitch when determining treatment. I'd compare their morale to that of a sketchy car salesman or car mechanic. Read Less

I know I'll receive the same great care! Read Less

I am very grateful to the team at VCA who saved my pups life. They focused on the problem and immediately began working on helping her feel better. I had to travel last minute but they continued to update me throughout the entire process and were very flexible. I didn’t have an opportunity to meet the vets/staff but the friend who helped me transport my pup said they were very caring and love the pups. A payment plan through them would be very helpful because currently full payment is required before procedures are done.

Read Less

Long story short took my dog in she had X-rays. I was told that I'd have the results in seconds. It's literally been 4 days now. I paid 320 for 4 X-rays and 83 to have them viewed. Tomorrow I'll be demanding a refund or an answer. The place is high and I know others like myself don't mind paying. The problem is you don't get what you pay for. Girls at the front desk and the techs are great. The DVM I delt with left me highly disappointed. If it's an emergency and you animal needs care something is better than nothing. My best friends daughter works here so I wanted to see what, if anything they could do for our beloved cat! Just so happens, they knew exactly what was going on and a specialist in the area of what he had, happened to be there. Got him on medications, fluids and he has been himself ever since!

Read Less
