My cat had a fungal infection on his head and was misdiagnosed with skin allergies; apparently, it was too much trouble to take a skin culture to test for a fungal infection or scabies; when I pushed for testing, they dismissed it and insisted it was allergies and suggested I have him on a special diet; the doctor was dismissive and rude; also, they are super expensive; every time I visited, it was no less than $400.00; I am glad I left. I took my dog today for the first time to Fry Rd. Animal Clinic because she got something in her eye and I was very worried. I called different places in the area, even emergency vet clinics. Fry Rd A. C. was the only one that could see us almost right away. The whole team was fantastic: front desk people, assistants, and Dr. Pamela O'Rear. They were very professional and had a lot of patience with my dog. I was very pleased with their service. One more thing: the visit didn't cost me an arm and a leg. This is our go-to vet. I forgot the doctor's name who my dog, Zoey usually sees but I think there's only 2 doctors in the office. I actually never mind taking her to the vet because the doctor is so nice, I never usually have to wait that long and it's such a clean office. Plus, it's never crowded so you don't have to worry about your pet freaking out about other animals in the room...because there usually aren't that many around. Read Less

It's taken me a while to write this. A while back I took my neighbors English Springer Spaniel in for her while she was at work.Her normal vet that she likes, Dr.Brice, was not there that day.  She made her appointment with another vet, Kimberly Clark. I took her 11 yr old dog in  for skin issues.  Off the bat she insisted he have a rabies shot or he couldn't come back. I advised her that I don't believe in over vacinating, he is an older dog with skin issues right now and that I didn't advise it. I mentioned the titers test and she said no!  Rabies shots are "the law". I immediately told her I would NEVER use her for any of my dogs as a vet,ever because of her attitude and not understanding immune systems etc. She ended up giving him the rabies shot and a steroid on top of that!  6 months later he ended up in the ER with advanced stage severe liver cancer and had to be put down. Too bad Dr.Brice wasn't there, he would have handled it differently. I sure hope she is not still working there or at any other vet clinic. Read Less

We took my daughter's guide dog there for over 10 years. The service was fantastic and everyone treated Charlie with companion and loving hands until he died. Dr Bruce was fantastic when we had to put him to sleep and he knew this dog was a family member. He treated my daughter with so much compassion and helped my daughter accept Charlie ' s diagnosis and what was best for him. I thank all of you for all you did and do. Fry Road Animal Clinic deserves this 5 star rating for both their professional efforts and sincere and compassionate caring of my German Shorthaired Pointer (Cinder).  When Cinder totally stopped eating and drinking, I felt that I was watching my dog  die before my eyes - a very hard thing.  Dr. Brice and Dr. O'Rear worked very hard on Cinder's case in order to rule out what was not going on and in finding answers as to what might be causing this extreme and difficult case.  They did everything they could including conferring with other specialists.  I know that it seems odd to say that when Dr. Brice called me, the good news was that Cinder was diagnosed with a rare disease (Addison's).  I will always remember the sincere caring and the sense of relief  that  I heard in Dr. Brice's voice in that call - he had found the answer.  Addison's disease is treatable and Cinder has responded so well to her treatment.  I still have my dog because of all of the efforts of Fry Road Animal Clinic - my sincerest Thanks to the entire staff. Dr. Brice and Dr. O'Rear have been taking care of our pets for over 25 years. I have had pets all of my life and have been to veterinarians in Houston, New Orleans, and Bakersfield, California. In all of those different cities I never experienced the high quality of care for my pets that I consistently see at Fry Road Animal Clinic. They have always gone above and beyond what I have typically seen from other veterinarians. Our pets are like members of our family and they understand that. They truly care about our pets as much as we do and they have the expertise to help them. Our pets have had some complicated problems, and they have always done what they could to determine the problem and the possible solutions. Dr. Brice always discusses all of our options and prices with us and lets us decide what we want to do. If he finds a problem that he believes warrants attention from a specialist, he has always known who to refer us to and has stayed in communication with the specialist so that our pets had the best care possible. I have been going to this clinic since it opened 20+ years ago. My dogs get groomed here too. My primary vet here is Dr. Brice, but I have been to all the vets through the years. They are all so wonderful. Their groomer is the best and all of the staff feel like old friends. Their love of all animals show in everything they do. The prices seem very reasonable to me. I would never want to order online instead of supporting my local vet clinic. These same type of people probably go into showrooms to browse and then go home and  buy online. That is just wrong. Also--buying medicines online is risky. You don't know their source or if they are counterfeit. My animals mean too much to risk that. Read Less

We've been taking our two dogs here for years.  The staff is great (especially Mayra, who is great) and I feel that our dogs are very well taken care of here. Our dogs get very nervous when they go see the vet, but the staff is very good at calming them. Read Less

This clinic is okay. The front desk staff is awesome! My dog is big and a baby and they are extremely patient. The 2 doctors that I have had so far are also very good. The only reason  I didn't give it 4 stars is because of the price, I feel its just a little much. I am from dallas and I did find a hidden gem of a vet. The front desk there was rude but they were cheap. Overall this place is good, just expensive. I wish they offered more coupons or discounts! Read Less

The office could use some updating and renovations but other than that this is a great place. No problems getting an appointment and kind staff. The receptionists are very friendly and the vets and vet techs are great. In fact, one of the vets caught a mistake that another clinic missed on my dog's vaccinations. We've been bringing Brinkley, our golden retriever, here since she was a pup.  The staff is super friendly and Dr. Brice is fantastic!  We'd had a bad experience at another vet's office...  It seemed like every time we took her in they'd tell us something else was wrong with her and they'd charge us out the wazoo for tests and meds.  We decided to look around when they wanted $500 to have her spayed.  We didn't want to skimp on her surgery, but $500 seemed ridiculous.  So we called around and found Fry Road Animal Clinic (who did the surgery for much less green), and we've been taking her there ever since.  I hate to sound cheap, but I love that Fry Road isn't as expensive as the other clinic.  All of her shots and exams have been cheaper, and we get the same level of fantastic service as with the other vet, but without the hefty bill.  It's quite refreshing.There are several vets who work in the office, and all the staff are wonderful.  One lady rescues goldens and she gives Brinkley lots of love every time we visit.  Dr. Bryce is thorough during Brinkley's exams and he always gives me great advice on how to raise a good golden.  He also suggested that I buy a Gentle Leader harness to help control Brinkley when she pulls on the leash and that thing has been a life saver!  I wouldn't be able to control her 62 pounds of excitement without it!I highly recommend Fry Road Animal Clinic to anyone looking for a great vet in the area.  They will treat your pets right, and you won't have to take out a second mortgage to pay your vet bills. I can't even count how many years I've known Dr. Brice and his staff. I was introduced to them by my mother. My parent's dashound, Puddles, was ill and had to be put to sleep. They were so compasionate. A few years after that we got a puppy for our children. Dakota was well cared for by Dr. Brice & his crew for 7 years. When I had to make a decision to put Dakota down, it was horrible. Dr. Brice and his staff were so loving and compasionate to both Dakota and myself. They are a true blessing to furry friends and their ""parents."" We have a new puppy now and we are getting the same outstanding care with Scruffy as we did with Dakota! We have been going to Fry Rd clinic for over 20 years now and have nothing but praise for them! We recently bought two Bengals just over a year ago. Cleo had problems when she was a small baby. Dr Pamela O'Rear went above and beyond the call to diagnois and treat Cleo's problems which was a very rare condition. I am happy to say that Cleo is now on a maintaintence program and doing great! We came to Katy from Florida and findind and changing vets was scary for both us and our pets. We called several vets to just talk and kind of feel them out. Most were not willing to take the time to talk to us on the phone as they were "too busy". Some were down right rude. Luckily we called Fry Road Animal Clinic. They took the time to tell us about their vets and their practice. There was no doubt when we first took our pets there. We have a dog who is almost 17 years old and we did not want to put him through shots, etc. Our vet just suggested we bring him in to just get a file started on him so that when the terrible time comes where he must sleep we will have him on record. (This is my first review for Citysearch) I recently took my newly adopted dog for a checkup with Dr. O'Rear. She gave her a thorough exam and cleared every procedure with me and explained them thoroughly. The doctor genuinely seemed interested in me and my dog. My dog needed treatment for an ear infection and Dr. O'Rear took the time to explain the meds, and even showed me how to administer them using an ear model. She did all of this without seeming condescending or patronizing. They also made time to microchip my dog even though I did not let them know ahead of time that I wanted it done. In addition the Techs and front office were kind and helpful. They were fairly busy the day I went but I didn't have to wait long. The office was very clean and the prices were reasonable, too! BEWARE, DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED PETS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I had been going the Fry Road for over 2 years, and everything was fine until today. I took my 3 dogs, 2 Cairn Terriers ( ages 7 and 8), and 1 Yorkshire Terrier (age 2) to get their teeth cleaned. I dropped them off at 7:20 a.m. I called around 11:00 to check up on them, and was told that everything was fine, but that the Vet wanted to talk to me. She informed me that she had taken 7 teeth from my yorkie. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. I was in shock. NOBODY called me to get my permission, or talk to me about my options, or at least give me the option so say NO, and get a second opinion. We moved to Katy 10 months ago. Because of the good reviews for the Fry Rd Animal Clinic, I made an appt. for my Yorkie, Scarlet. Dr. Gumpel took such good care of her. Scarlet was 12 yrs. old and was diagnosed with cancer about 3 months ago. Dr. Gumpel was so compassionate and caring. His ""Bedside"" manner is awesome. He helped me thru the most difficult of times. I loved my dog dearly and when we had to put her to sleep I could not have gotten thru it without Dr. Gumpel. He was so respective of my feelings and what I was going thru. He was the absolute best. I have a new yorkie now and Dr. Gumpel is the only vet she will see. You can tell he has a genuine love for his work. ""Zoe"" loves Dr. Gumpel. She gets really excited when she sees him.
