Well, I’m sorry to say but this is a place that will forever make me cry when I pass by. The time came for an old friend of mine to good to a better place about a week ago and this place was the only one opened at the time (midnight). I won’t make anyone sad with the condition she was in, just know she was old had way more good years then she was expected to have. I walked in with my friend and 15 minuets later I walked out with out her. I was in a cloud of emotions when I signed the paper work and not really sure of what to expect when she would return (cremated). Well today I picked her up and to much of my surprise she was in a lovely box with her name on it, letters from the office of condolences, a certificate of cremation and a charm to go ona bracelet that said “friends” with a letter stating “best” was with my girl in her box. I will forever thank this place for giving me such a beautiful way to remember my girl, but I hope to never have to go here again. Read Less

Required vet services for our 6-yo male, diabetic Pit mix dog at 9:30 pm... After-Hours Veterinary in Killeen was singular option. Small waiting area already had a crated cat in it, with three humans, so Hubby & I opted for Hubby to go in while I stayed in the car with our fur baby. Vet tech Phillip was GREAT! He came to the car, escorted our dog to grassy area, gave him a quick once over and proceeded to make several calls in order to get what we needed. He was gentle but thorough when addressing the issue, and our dog's current condition, and talked us through the available options. My sick babies are taken in immediately and evaluated before they asked for paperwork. Plus one of my favorite veterinarians, Dr. Pat Davis was on duty. Less than one hour and I am on the way. It's worth the extra money for the peace of mind. When I asked the cost before I brought in my babies, they were upfront and clear in the cost. I really appreciate that. Read Less

You never *want* to visit an after hours vet but thank God these folks were there when I needed them. My male Akita had been crying loudly (something he NEVER does) and I knew something was very wrong. I brought him to the After Hours Vet and they determined he had gastric torsion. They stabilized him and gave him medication for the pain while coordinating with my regular veterinarian so that she would be ready to get him right into surgery. My Akita made a full recovery and I’m so thankful for the caring and competent folks here! Read Less

We took our puppy here when she had an allergic reaction to her vaccinations from a different clinic. The doctor and his staff were extremely helpful and very compassionate. They kept my husband and myself calm during such a fearful time. You can tell that they care about their patients and, on top of it all, they saved our puppy's life. Read Less

I brought a puppy in alive. She was in the room suffering for over 30 minutes. She died before they did anything to help and then charged us $140.00 for the exam and a "mass burial." Another lady was there and they told her that her puppy had a punctured lung. She was told she had to pay $2000 upfront or let her dog die. All they care about is money. Read Less

I have nothing but great things to say about this clinic. My dog was hit by a car and had some substantial skull fractures and brain damage. He needed to stay under care between here and a day clinic for about a week. He made a full recovery and is doing great and I can't thank the people here enough for letting me sit in the back with him ans much as I wanted and doing everything they could. Phillip was especially wonderful, knowledgeable and thoroughly explained things to me. He had the patoence of a saint. These guys are top notch! Picked up our new family member from the shelter and he managed to pick up a case of kennel cough. 7am on a Sunday morning decided to stop eating and show no interest in anything . Took him in. As with most emergency /urgent/after hour care centers this comes with a hefty price tag. Our dog broke a nail, and as I couldn't bring myself to fight with her solo over it,I opted for pros! We were greeted and in a room immediately, saw the dr within mins,and out within 20! Dr Cruz,and Rose, were very nice, professional, and efficient! They took the extra step to trim up all her nails at same time for me. The offices were clean,and smelled nice. My timid dog seemed comfortable being handled by them and more importantly they handled ME well! And they were very clear about the charges before we started treatment so I knew and could decide ahead. It was expensive, but probably averagely so in comparison to similar emergency services. We noticed our dog was pooping blood after all the other offices closed (around 5) but remembered seeing this after hour clinical recently so decided to go there. We were quickly greeted and placed in a room. The doctor was quick, attentive and diagnosed her. We spent maybe a half an hour or less there. Additionally, the office was nice and clean. We took our cat here because she was acting very strange and has had some sort of neurological issues since she was a kitten. Ryan Caperton was great! He told us about a neurology clinic in RR to take her and get her checked out because he didn't think we should waste our money on running diagnostic tests at the after hours vet. 100% recommend this place and Ryan as a vet. They were nice, and they were actually open during a time when no one else was open. But they could have been a little more COMMUNICATIVE as to when I was supposed to start that pain medication! Don't you think that if it wasn't written on the directions, it should have been EMPHASIZED?! Also, it might be helpful to think of this veterinary clinic as only for emergencies. It's MUCH more expensive than all others. So if your pet can be taken in to another vet earlier, do it. It might save you a couple hundred dollars. We brought our 4 week old kitten in because he was sneezing blood. They gave him an antibiotic and it did the trick. They also saw that he had diarrhea and gave us deworming medication for him and also for his brother at home. Now they're both all better! The exam fee is about $40 more than a regular vet because they are open all night, but overall the price was fair to get our baby well again. I highly recommend them for quality emergency care. Update: 3 weeks later, our other kitten (7 weeks old), was in an accident under our reclining couch. It was so scary and we thought he was going to die. We rushed him to After Hours Veterinary, and the vet tech and doctor both examined him for free. That was so nice of them. And he is absolutely fine! Thank God! Read Less

Many times veterinarians are faced with reviews of no compassion when finances are involved. Pet ownership is a privilege, not a right. Many hospitals offer forms of credit based on credit worthiness. There are costs involved in treating emergency situations and owners should be able to meet those expenses if they own a pet. I dislike clinics that won't treat unless you have the money upfront. Letting a dog die do to this is wrong. These are not vets, but money hungry monsters. I have not gone here, but read the review about the dog & puppies that would die, because the lady didn't have $2000 up front. I chose another vet instead. Read Less

Our Shih Tzu had bladder surgery a few weeks before I had to come to Killeen (Ft. Hood) to help with my granddaughter who had been born 27 days early. I had to bring him with me since he needed meds during the day and my husband works so couldn't give them to him. His staples needed to be removed on August 20th but I didnt want to drive all the way back to San Antonio if I didnt have to so I called After Hours Veterinary Services and they said they would remove his staples so I made the appointment. Four days before I was to take him in to have the staples removed I noticed his abdomen looked very swollen so I called and asked if I could bring him in immediately. I took him in and they examined him and gave me an anti-inflammatory prescription to give him and made an appointment for a follow-up. When I took him back, the swelling had gone down and they removed his staples. Shih Tzu are known to have eye problems and mine has had extreme dry eye syndrome since he was a pup. Unfortunately, the anesthesia from his bladder surgery caused his eye to become extremely dry and the irritation from the scar from a previous eye surgery caused so much inflammation his eye was at risk of developing massive corneal ulcers. Not only did they remove the staples from his bladder incision, the vet examined his eye and prescribed several different meds to use until we could get him back home to see his ophthalmologist. I feel so very lucky to have contacted them because of the wonderful treatment we got. As soon as I my granddaughter was doing well on her own and I returned to San Antonio, I took my Shih Tzu to see his ophthalmologist. The service provided and the meds prescribed by the very caring professionals at After Hours Veterinary Services worked wonderfully. His abdomen healed wonderfully and he had no more swelling. My Shih Tzus eye looked tons better and his eye specialist reported that his sight had not been further damaged and that there were no signs of any new ulcers from the recent horrible flare up due to the meds prescribed. Tonight I thought I was losing my best friend. Earlier in the evening I thought she had vomited, but when I went to bathe her I discovered that it was in fact blood mixed with pus from a ruptured abscess. I immediately sent my husband to the store for supplies to clean and dress the wound, but upon inspection decided that it was too involved for me to treat. When he returned we packed into the SUV and headed to the clinic. These ladies are wonderful, kind and compassionate but beyond that they are consummate professionals. Because of their soft spoken, calm demeanor, I was able to give them all of the background information required for a quick and thorough examination. They were up front about all possible costs and complications, answered all my many questions, and walked me through the before and after treatment my dog would require. My Cosmic was dying from hemangiosarcoma and this Vet stayed on the phone for 30 minutes or more, advising me what to look for and when it was time to put her down. When that time finally did come, he drove out to my house and put her down at home and contacted the cremation people for me. I couldn't have asked for a better scenario to part with my baby.
