I chose this Clinic because it's close to my home. This clinic is always behind scheduled appointment which is a peeve of mine. It's a little over priced compared to the options out there. I would suggest looking around for competative pricing. The staff is friendly. Overall, I'm planning to find another clinic. Read Less

Took my 2 cats here on Saturday to to get Shots and ask about good flea medication. The whole staff here is amazing, one of my cats is mean and hates to be handled and the staff knew exactly how to handle her without anger or hurting her. They were great at answering all of our questions on what to do to stop fleas from growing and coming back. The staff even called after 2 days to make sure the cats were adjusting well to the shots. The staff spent time with us when we took our little Schnauzer in for a sprained knee. They were gentle with her and treated her like one of theirs. The vet assured us that she didn't need xrays or any therapy other than pain meds, which they provided. She was much improved in just a few days and didn't need a follow-up. New clients when we visited. They squeezed us in at the last moment, with no appt. on a Friday afternoon. Staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Took my Husky in for a hurt foot, was told he had a torn ACL , took him to his regular Dr who spent 30 minutes on the floor feeling around and found out it was bone cancer...I had to lay him to rest yesterday.. Neither Dr seemed one bit concerned about his leg... One Dr felt around for a minute her diagnonscense was torn ACL... The other doctor didnt even touch him and let him go on in pain... But they were sure to charge me 800 for the man to look at him from a distance.. I do not recommend this place at all.... Read Less

Animal Clinic of La Porte is a fantastic place- they go above and beyond to accommodate! I have a teacup shih Tzu that is temperamental, and they always make sure to book our appointment at a slow time (with few other appointments/ pets) and let us wait in the Cat Room. I also have 2 cats- so I love that they have a Cat Room! Trent is super sweet, and always offers my pets water, and listens to my stories- He also answers my questions over the phone (if possible), and is even usually able to book my pit (who has a lot of health issues) on short notice. Dr. Jones is a cheerful vet with a wonderful bedside manner- even my cats like him!  The facility is always impeccably clean, the staff is knowledgeable and courteous, and their prices are competitive. I recently moved (and shopped around for a closer vet), but no other vet clinic compares to this one! Read Less

I made an appt to take my pet for annual vaccinations and was never told they went up 80% from last year. I understand prices go up but come on.. 80% and then you get blind sited when a bill that was $122 last year and $192 this year. Services had been rendered and I about fell to floor when she gave me the total. The office manager can only say I'm sorry but the prices are the prices. I will never go back to this animal clinic. We love Dr. Jones and his staff. We are new to the area and tried another veterinary clinic before deciding to go with Animal Clinic of La Porte. They are understanding, kind and empathetic. So far, we have experienced a relaxed environment in the waiting area and a short wait (unlike the hectic, extremely long wait at the other clinic). Dr. Jones listens to our concerns, does not pressure us to have unnecessary procedures, and he even referred us to another clinic for laser treatment of our eldest dog's arthritis. I love this clinic. We have 2 boxers in our family. One is 4 yrs and the other will be 12 this year. They are both such an important part of our family and this Vet. has been a blessing. Our older boxer has had at least 3 different issues she could have easily died from during her life. I have no doubt her survival is because of the fighter she is, but they knew the correct treatment each time. They always listen to my concerns and help with resolutions. The office staff is very friendly and they are all understanding of difficult decisions. Not to mention they are great with all animals. They have been wonderful for the past 11+ years we have used them. As long as I am in LP, I won't take our dogs anywhere else! Read Less

Avoid this clinic..... My wife and I were going on vacation in  Florida and needed to board our dog. We brought him in a couple days ahead of time to make sure everything was good and was assured everything was going to be fine. 30 mins after we arrived in Florida we got a call telling us that we needed to come back and get our dog because they couldn't handle him...YOU ARE A VET!!!! Ruined our vacation and had to have a friend drive 8 hours to pick up our dog. YOUR OFFICE SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! Not to mention I was told if I couldn't be back to get him fast,they would send him to the pound. Read Less

My Wife & Myself have been using vet's across the country to care for our family of felines and canines for well over 35 Years. Dr. Jones and the crew he leads are the most empathetic, compassionate, wise & honest folks we have had the fortune of being part of our lives. They have provided excellent AAA+ care for all our animals. IMHO Dr.Jones has a attachment to all of the animals he treats. Refreshing now a days. He is any animals SUPERHERO ;) Their rates are outstanding and very affordable when compared to others! Its ALL about your animals best interest to them!!! The icing on the cake is Dr. Jones is a outstanding contributor to our community as was his Father. He's very active in making our community better all while helping animals and people! I have been taking my love to Dr. Jones for several years. He is 8 years old & the ladies are very gentle with him when he is examined plus it's very nice that they lift him up to put him on exam table. Other places I have had to do that. Dr Jones has been very sympathic to Coopers skin issues & allergies. This far, I only have great things to say about this clinic & would recommend them to anyone. Read Less

Great vet and great clinic! I have 2 very un-social dogs that can't really be in the company of other dogs without causing a scene. The staff let us wait in the "Cat room" so that no other pets would surprise my dogs. Everyone was so nice and attentive- brought in water for them and even cleaned up my shih Tzu's accident. Vet was great- recommended a new shampoo & flea treatment because the old one had stopped working and my little dog's hair had started falling out. Within a month- no fleas and a full body of hair again! I highly recommend this clinic and it's the only place I will take my babies! Read Less

This place is respectable, honest, and professional. I've been with Dr Jones and his staff for many, many years now. Seeing the entire building transform into what it is now, I can they put a lot of effort and pride into their care for our little furry friends. The staff and Dr Jones are all very intelligent in their field. He's a wonderful person and Doctor. A real hometown hero when you somehow manage to see him involved in everything. Do not go here. Dr. Jones is a horrible veterinarian. He doesn't care about the pets in his care, only about the money. He doesn't deserve his poor staff. They are great people who do so much there and they get treated horribly. He yells at them in front of clients. Its a very unprofessional environment. He acts like a good ole hometown boy, but behind the doors that say "staff only" , things are very different. He has said for years that he would like to sell his business, I hope he does so that no more people will be mislead by him. He may have the cheapest vaccinations in town, but I highly recommend paying a little extra for quality service somewhere else. Read Less

I was a regular customer until one day when I rushed my kitten to them. While holding the kitten I pleaded with them to please take care of her. They said I'd have to make an appointment even though they knew my kitten needed critical care immediately. They didn't even bother to look over the counter to look at the kitten or offer any solutions. After my pleas were totally ignored by all the staff and vet (fake?) I rushed out to find another vet. By the time I got to one my poor kitten died in the soft towel I had her resting in. This vet essentially killed my kitten. NO vet should be in business if they ignore any animal that needs help. What kind of people work at this soulless vet's office? There wasn't one word of empathy for my kitten or me. They said its 'not their policy' and 'that's our procedure' crap so I knew they were useless people. This vet and none of his staff should be allowed anywhere near an animal. Or people for that matter. No one who can turn their backs to a kitten in need should be near animals. Don't take your pets to this heartless monster. Read Less

He treats his staff like garbage, except for his two sons. He doesn't are for the animals, they are just a way to make money to him. I took my dog in and the receptionist couldn't find my file, but even though my dog was OBVIOUSLY ill, he REFUSED to see her without my file. I ended up leaving, but not before I heard him yelling at the receptionist for something that wasn't her fault. I will NEVER recommend anyone to him, not will I ever go back. Don't waste your time. We had taken our cats there for a couple of years - they were always OK, never really thought they were the greatest, but they were close and we never had any real problems until recently. One of our cats is diabetic and needs daily insulin injections. When we started to run low on insulin, we called to order a refill which usually only takes one day to arrive. The assistant took the order, but never bothered to tell us that the doctor was out of town that week and that there was no one else who could order the insulin (apparently they didn't even have another doctor they could call on for things like this). After a couple days, we called to see where our insulin was and that's when they told us they would not be able to order it that week. This was bad enough, but we knew we could stretch out the remaining insulin even though it meant cutting back a little on the dosage to make it last until Monday. Unfortunately, and this was what made us furious, after we were ASSURED we would have the insulin by Monday afternoon, we once again didn't hear from anyone that day and, when we called, we were told it was now on BACKORDER and would take a couple extra days. By this time we were completely out, so we asked the doctor to give us a prescription that we could get it somewhere else. He said he would but ONLY if we paid for the order that had already been placed. That was an absolutely ludicrous demand on his part! It was THEIR error and they should have been doing everything they could to make sure we could get our cat's medicine even if it wasn't from them! They could very easily have kept that order in their inventory for either their own use or for the next time someone needed it for their cat. At this point, we said that we would no longer be bringing our pets there because this was absolutely unprofessional. 5 minutes later, they called back and, gee, miraculously, a bottle of insulin had been found (they probably had some their in their inventory the whole time). We took that but still asked for a written prescription and for copies of our records with them, which were provided. Now, it doesn't end there. The next time we needed insulin, we decided to go through 800PetMeds since we did have the prescription. PetMeds called us later and said that the vet was refusing to verify his own prescription because our cat was not his patient any more. Fortunately we had it in writing from him and we basically had to call him and threaten a lawsuit if he did not honor his own prescription. It appeared he was just playing a game of ""sour grapes"" rather than truly caring about an animal's life. This is NOT the kind of person we want caring for our animals. As a PS, a good friend of ours recently boarded his dog with them while he was out of town. He picked up his dog and found her feet torn up and bleeding, and the staff there had ""no idea"" how that had happened, and admitted to having let her run loose in the office while they were closed.
