I used to be one of the ones that would give a five-star for this vet ~ ย the staff was always great, friendly and very helpful and prices seemed fairly reasonable for being in Lakeway. ย What I really loved about this clinic was Dr. Grace Schnell; she was so very good with our babies. ย She was professional, but so personable ~ you felt like she loved your babies like you did. ย She gave options and wasn't too quick to try and run up your bill. ย She was compassionate and caring; however, she left the practice recently and I have left now too. ย After Dr. Grace left, my little baby was very sick and I called to try to get them to see her, but they told me they were too busy to get her in; they could see her the next morning, but in the meantime, they said here's the number for the emergency animal clinic. ย Surely, any pet owner would have given up their time or waited a little longer for their pet to be seen, if someone brought in a sick/dying pet ~ I don't know for sure ~ but I know I would have and wouldn't have minded a bit, feeling compassion for their circumstances. ย However, Terrell Vet Clinic didn't see it that way and said ~ what it felt like to me ~ call someone who cares, we're too busy. ย To me, if they thought she was sick enough to give me the emergency clinic number and they cared enough, then they would have taken the time to squeeze her in. ย I wanted her to be seen by someone who knew her/us; someone who knew her history and what might be going on with her, but that was not to be the case. ย I really don't think I was asking too much of them; it wasn't after hours, so I wasn't asking them to stay late or go above and beyond, but just take the time. ย Dr. Terrell did take the time to email us after we called the next day and told them we would not be using their services again. ย He said he was sorry they had offended us by offering the emergency services number (I couldn't believe he would really think we would be offended by that) and I told him that was not offensive to us, but what was offensive was that as a customer of several years, they didn't take the time to help us out in our time of need, ย While it was nice of Dr. Terrell to email and say he was going to try and "learn from this as much as possible and to do things better the next time", it really didn't help, because what I really wanted to hear was that 'we were wrong; as a valued customer, we should have taken the time to see her/you, because you are important to us. I'm sorry we weren't there for you.' ย Maybe, though, that isn't the case. ย So, for us, there won't be a next time with them. ย We won't use them, but maybe for the next emergency, your baby will get the time they need instead of a number to call. ย Yes, this may be a little harsh, but with an event like this, you want a vet to be there for you. ย Even if the outcome wouldn't have been any different, at least I would have felt like they tried and cared. ย In the end, we were very fortunate to take our little girl to Crystal Falls Animal Hospital where they fit her in immediately and Dr. Huggins took excellent care of us. With the care and compassion he showed us, you would never have known he didn't know/have a history with our little girl. ย I will gladly take my other babies to him, because besides the fact that he is very good and will take excellent care of them, I know if and when the time comes that we have another emergency, I won't be told they are too busy and here's the emergency contact number.
