White Angel Animal Hospital is a wonderful clinic! I have been an employee on and off at this location for years , and I know first hand what goes on behind the scenes! The staff treats every pet with love and care as if it were their own Animal. At on point in my life I lived 6 hours away in West Odessa, and would purposely schedule my 3 dogs annual appointments at White Angel on my visits back to my hometown! I am truly and utterly appalled at these cruel and untrue accusations of Lenore, the one and only person I feel who kept White Angel running smoothly and with total care. I personally experienced my dog almost losing her life during a routine surgery, the ONLY reason I still have my beautiful girl is because of Lenore SAVING HER LIFE!! I have recommended White Angel to all of my friends with furry family and every single one has had nothing but amazing things to say about her. Can't believe it has taken me so long to write this review.. We have been taking our dogs to Dr Z for a couple of years now and I can't stress enough that she and her staff are simply the best! They have made us feel like family and treated our pups like their very own. Dr Z is personable and professional, and always makes it a point to get down on the floor and love on our pups while she examines them. The receptionists and technicians are knowledgable, patient, and kind. I took my fur baby there, after been suggested by a friend. He had a very bad allergy and and was down for 1 day, they immediately took him in and after several hours of care he was back on his feet. I am in awe at how much this place rocks! They treat me and my pet like family, it is such a comfortable atmosphere! Lyndie at the front desk was just the sweetest when scheduling. We have gone in twice now so that our dog could just get to know the staff since he gets fear aggression. Lenore is so through in explaining everything, she sat on the floor and spent so much time making him feel comfortable, he now kisses her on the face when he goes in! The Dr even came up and sat down with us just to say hi in between her appointments. Dr Zilkha and her staff are the most kind and amazing people! I have taken my pets there since they opened and they continue to do an excellent job caring for my pets. I have a 9 month old kitten who keeps getting high fevers of unknown origin. Whenever she is sick, they are in constant contact with me either through calls or text on how she is doing, if they don't have her there with her! All of them are so great but especially Dr. Z, Lenore and Lyndie- they have helped me so much! They are compassionate and caring and the best Vets I've come across! I highly recommend them!! Moving to a new city is tough and finding good doctors is even tougher, especially a great veterinarian. I asked my FB peeps for fantastic vets in my area, and they didn't let me down. White Angel Animal Hospital is the best. The manager Tal did a fantastic job when showing us around the first time and making us feel very comfortable with the White Angel as a whole. They are all warm, kind, friendly, and loving + knowledgeable about what to do/not to do. I love Dr. Z's conservative approach. She will not do a procedure if it's not necessary. For example, my 5-year-old cat has never had her teeth cleaned so I figured she was long overdue. However, after examining her, Dr. Z didn't think it was necessary right now because her teeth are in excellent shape.Read Less

Dr Z saw my golden mix on two occasions both emergency situations.  My dog is 8 years old and has had no prior issues up until recently . Both emergencies were bizarre situations " out of the book " medical issues . The second time around Dr Z literally saved my dogs life by swiftly arriving to a definite diagnosis , a rare endocrine disorder called Addison's disease . Shots shots shots!!! Everybody!!I'm a fan of this place.  Especially the vet herself.. she is great with my "sensitive" yellow lab.  When I say sensitive, I mean he doesn't like to vet, and can get a bit spooked going in.  She is always very calm, lets the treats flow, and is patient until she gains a connection with my doggy dog!  The vet techs are very good as well, some better than others.They do offer half price shots of Wednesday... the whole shot makeup rabies, distemper, bordatella, and heartworm test for my two dogs came out to $240ish... not sure if that is cheap or not, but I happy with the service, so I'm okay with the price.I would prefer if they would send prescriptions to 1800-PET-MEDS, but they don't citing "questionable business practices."  I suspect this is only so they can sell more prescriptions though?  I mean, if you know what you need, and you can get it for way less, I think it is important to allow your customers to save money when and where they can. We've been going to White Angel Animal Hospital in Lakeway since October of 2012 when we moved to the area. I've met Dr. Birdwell once and have taken my dog to see Dr. Z. twice now. Both vets took the time to meet with my dog and listen to our concerns. We didn't feel like we were a number or a walking checkbook. My dog was even being a little shy (aka dramatic) and Dr. Z. sat on the floor to be at her eye level to make my dog feel more at ease!I feel that this clinic takes a more conservative approach. We felt that this vet allowed us to pick and choose the optional vaccines for our dog. They explained the pros and cons of each optional vaccine, but we felt that it was ultimately up to us, the customer, to decide which to go with.This clinic is close to home and we can usually get an appointment within a day, or sooner. The clinic is super clean and their staff is very friendly and patient. We're very happy with White Angel and will continue to bring our dog here. Read Less

Nervous new owner of a yellow puppy lab, I researched the reviews here on Yelp and decided to visit White Angel.  Being new to Austin, I get lost pretty easily so I'm the geek that uploaded their new storefront, next to Sears.  My puppy loved the staff, had his temperature taken, shots, medicine and so many hugs.  I was given great new pet advice and was happy to hear that they also offer kennel service.  The office is clean, professional and the patient rooms are roomy enough for dogs to pace around.  Actually bigger than most doctor offices I've been to.  They showed me the kennels and it was nice to learn that they don't put the dogs together for health reasons.  Dogs also have a spacious field to walk around during the day.  Love the vet and her staff.  Due for another visit soon, my flirty lab can't wait. My 10 year old Staffordshire had a large tumor on his neck, which grew from the size of a golfball to a football in about 6 months.  A friend of mine recommended this vet because of the awesome, caring staff.  After a few visits, we decided it was time to put thing to rest, and were glad we chose White Angel for the euthanasia.  As emotional of a time this was, things could not have gone better.  They were extremely hospitable and understanding and even made us a clay paw print.  Thanks White Angel! Dr. Z and her staff are  very thorough, compassionate and just good people. We own two dogs and went to three vets before we came across White Angel. They always give you different treatment and price options and even gone as far as to discourage extra spending. The manager at White Angel has no sense of personal space. I was there for an appt a few months ago and he popped up out of nowhere and started to talk to me about things unrelated to my animal. He got uncomfortably close, and talked too loud. It was also a little disturbing the his head was red, bleeding, and flaking everywhere. I use to get my pomeranian, Buttercup, groomed at petsmart on 71, but almost every other time she would come back with her hair uneven and choppy looking. When I drove by White Angel Animal Hospital and saw the ""now grooming"" sign, I had to try it out. They did an amazing job! The staff up front were very courteous and let me drop off Buttercup before the salon had even open. In the reception they had lists of different packages to choose from as opposed to on basic groom or bath. They even had an ""a la carte"" list for extra things I could get included in the groom, like tooth brushing and nail grinding. When Buttercup was almost done the groomer called me personally. When I came to pick her up the groomer actually brought out Buttercup herself and she looked so adorable! Her hair was completely even all over and she looked so fluffy and felt so soft. Not to mention she had the cutest little bow on her teddy bear shaped face. You could really tell the groomer took her time to make sure she did a good job. The groomer asked me if I liked the hair cut and if I wanted anything changed-what service! I told her it was perfect but I definately wanted to schedule for another groom and try out some more of their packages and a la carte extras. This place really has to be the best in the area. We adopted a dog from Town Lake Animal Shelter and a few weeks later she was very sick. Our regular vet thought she might have distemper, gave us an antibiotic, and sent us home. I want everyone to know - don't kill distemper puppies: When my puppy was diagnosed with Canine distemper, I was heart broken. My regular vet told me that there is no hope and i should put him down. I first met Dr. Z b/c it was literally the closest vet clinic to my house when I got my cat, Elliott. I fell in love with her passion and care for animals. When I made the tough decision to have him de-clawed b/c he was tearing up the house. She was supportive and informative, not judgemental. She went over the procedure with me thoroughly and even explained what I could pass on if I was worried about cost. She called the day of the surgery and assured me everything went well. They insisted on keeping him for 3 days to make sure he recovered and was watched 24/7. It made me feel at ease. She moved to White Angel in Lakeway and luckily it was on my way to my new job, so I continued to take Elliott there. She remembered him and me, and was glad to know that I made the move to White Angel with her because she was going to miss my cat!! What vet says that?? I would highly recommend her and her staff! Dr Z is a great vet. She truly cares about the health of your pet. She is thorough, and considers all possible options. She saved our dog's life; thank goodness for her extended hours! I recently took my dog to White Angel Animal Hospital. I was very impressed with the level of care and attention that we got there. I have been to 2 other vets in the area and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Dr Dunn was thorough and she ran tests that the other vets didn't even offer. She found out exactly what was wrong with Jake and she put him on the right medication. He's acting like a puppy again. And what a beautiful facility- it didn't even smell like a vet clinic! When my groomer told me that this place was a new class in boarding, i was a little septic but i said lets give it a try. She was RIGHT!!! The dog-runs were so big and clean. My dog had never had it better. The Indoor part was big (4x5) and clean. It looked like a luxury suit. My dog also had his own private outdoor run and 3 walks a day. The staff really cared about their work and they called me when they noticed a 'hot spot' on Jimmy. You can tell that they really watch him. Dr Dunn saved my dog's life! One night during the holidays Rocky was going into heart failure and no other vet in the area was willing to help us. My wife called White Angel and they said to bring him right in. She stayed late into the night and took care of him. I later found out she had tickets for a show that night. She never even mentioned that to me and her focus was on Rocky the whole time. Not only that, she saved me from having to spend thousands of dollars at the emergency clinic that night. The doctor spent time answering all of my questions and even gave me some helpful hints for training my puppy. When it came time for the shots the staff distracted her with some treats, she never even noticed the needle. My dogs are not easy to handle. One is agressive and nervous. She even nips at times. Dr Zilkha says she is ""fear aggressive"" and treats her gently and respectfully and is able to handle her w/o a problem. In fact, although my dogs have some behavior problems and are often aggressive, they LOVE Dr Zilkha and the White Angel Animal Hospital. They enjoy going to see Dr Zilkha!! We met Dr Zilkha when one of my dogs was puppy. She saved my dog's life!! Mercedes had developed acute renal failure. If it had not been for Dr Zilkha's expert care, Mercedes would have died. My dog Tickie had pups, and i needed to get the three of them ready for adoption. I took them to White Angel thinking it was goona be a big ordeal to get the little guys vaccinated. It was quite the opposite. Dr. Roth was able to vaccinate them while they were sleeping! Can you believe that. And she gave them dewormer that they seemed to think was tasty. Besides the miracle of sticking the pups with a needle so carefully they dont even notice, the receptionists were friendly and even brought me coffee, the place was clean and didnt smell, and the building is crazy beautiful. Dr. Roth was able to help my cat Sebastian. After months of exams and valuable time wasted at another clinic I decided to try this new clinic in Lakeway. So many times I was told by other vets it was nothing or just given medication and told to come back for a recheck. How could anyone take one look at Sebastian, so skinny and tell me that it is nothing. Hes been barely able to keep anything down. He was practically skin and bones and his coat looked really unhealthy and he was throwing up. Dr. Roth took the time to do whatever was necessary to get us some answers. They have all the testing stuff there so she was able to figure out alot of what was going on while I was waiting. She seemed to really care about him and what was going on with him. Unfortuantely his condition is a little more serious than originally thought but at least we have some answers and can treat him appropriately now. Hes gained almost two pounds, and although he is sluggish hes not throwing up anymore. It hurts to think of all that wasted time. Now hes almost 12 and being sick was really hard on him, if there were more places like White Angel maybe this would have been easier for Sebastian. Read Less

I Live on the outskirts of lakeway and was very excited when I found out a new animal hospital and boarding facility would be opening soon. First I took my three cats in for vaccines. All three of them are terrified of new places and are somewhat aggressive, but the staff was gentle, yet firm and even took some extra time to show my babies that the vet wasn't a place to fear. Next I had to take my dog in for boarding. She has severe eating problems, requires lots of help, and is easily depressed, but when I got her back not only had she gained weight but seemed very happy! Thank you White Angel for making my pets feel at home, and for going the extra mile to make sure they got the attention they need.
