Dr. Huber is hands down, the best veterinarian ever. My family has gone to him for over 30 years. My childhood dogs were taken care of by him, and now my dogs are. Expect a wait unless you arrive before 730. There are no appointments. Pro-tip: call at lunch time, and they can tell you how busy it is. It's usually faster in the afternoons. Dr. Huber will work with you financially if you ask. He cares about the animals FIRST and everything else second. I'm originally from south Florida but when I was moving to Houston I looked up the pet laws and such to be safe. I have a pitbull and I noticed Houston in general do not like pitbulls at all. I was so scared to find a good vet because I know some clinics or animal hospitals would turn certain breeds away. I found this clinic and I read the reviews and it made me feel more than enough safe and happy to visit. The owners are a family and they are truly amazing. They are really relaxed and easy going people (which helped with my nervousness) but well knowledge people with so much experience and I could not be happier with my decision to go to them. They are amazing people and overall I trust them with my dog. They are always so sweet to my fur baby and they give me so much confidence and care. If you want a vet for life go to this animal clinic you will not regret it at all. I've got to say that I agree with the 90%.. If I could give 10 stars I would. I've brought my Cats there, Tito, King Felix, Annabelle and Tiger to see Dr. Tom. The Emergency Clinic kept trying to continue tests on my Annabelle. After I seen they kept trying to run up the bill with tests, I said I can't afford this. They gave me painkillers and told me to go to my Vet. I didn't know what to do until a friend told me to go see Dr. Tom. I went to League City Animal Clinic as a first time client. After 10 minutes he was able to diagnose the problem. He sent me home with less than a $100 visit and she was fine. He did 2 eye surgery procedures on Tiger, helped me with a sickness that King Felix and Tito were experiencing and seen them at the same time and when I left, I still had money In my wallet. And when It was time to put Annabelle to rest he was very comforting and knew the pain I was feeling. He's just a normal guy like you and me. And he's never broken my bank. Will never go to another vet after coming here. The wait is long but after seeing and talking to dr. Huber I understand why! He's not in a rush to get you in and out he actually takes his time and explains everything in detail to you and answers any questions you might have. Dr. Huber has been our vet for the past seven years and there is no one I would trust more to tend to the care/needs of our dogs. Our oldest dog nearly died a few years ago and Dr. Huber offered up different solutions to us and even offered up his OWN dog to help with a blood transfusion. He was determined to save our pups life without breaking our bank - he is very frugal and will only do what is absolutely necessary. There have also been a couple of times where he has given us items "on the house." He is a "good old boy", honest, hard working, and quite funny (Warning: he doesn't have much of a filter-he will speak his mind-which I love). However, keep in mind that they do not take appointments, it is first come first served and this could mean waiting a few hours but it's worth it! Read Less

Dr. Huber is the best. I met him a few years ago when my guy was lethargic and I ran into his office crying "help me". He did just that and told me that he was in bad shape and I needed to get him to the emergency clinic. I attempted to pay him and he all but threw me out and told me not to worry about it. Unfortunately I had to put my baby down that night but Dr. Huber's kindness and no BS attitude brought me back when I got another pup. He only does what is necessary and often doesn't even charge for everything he's done. I would travel across the city if I had to just for him to take care of my 4-legged babies! Read Less

Dr. Huber is the best veterinarian I've ever been to.I've had animals my entire life and have been to many vets, but never have I encountered one who is truly looking out for you and your furry family.He never once tried to sell any unnecessary tests or products, and when my cat was having behavioral problems he gave me a printout of a book to read and some natural remedies that helped him tremendously. The first time I went to dr. Huber I had an outside cat that got into something toxic, she had kidney failure and stopped eating.   She was on the verge of dying.. Now, she was old (about 15) and I've had her most of my life. Where the first vet I took her to told me he would only put her down, dr. Huber gave us a regime with medicine and force feeding. After a few weeks she made a full recovery with a relatively low cost. He only gives you what you need and charges the minimum. She wouldn't have lived if it weren't for him. What a great experience! After being ripped off by the people at Safari, I was in search of new vet. I'm a first time pet owner so i was apprehensive about who I took my fur baby to. My 10 month old Jack Russell terrier began vomiting Sunday evening. Worried I went to see Dr. Huber right when they opened. When I arrived there were already around 6 people lined up because they don't take appointments so the wait time was a little excessive however when we were finally seen Dr Huber was very attentive and explained everything. My little guy was disoriented and in bad shape. After a Parvo test which came back negative and an X-ray that showed he didn't swallow anything we can to the conclusion that he must of ate something that really made him sick. After three shots and antibiotics I left Dr Huber's office at ease. He even gave me special food for the pup. It's been three days since we've been to the clinic and my pup is back to his old rambunctious self. The cost wasn't outrageous. Just happy to have my pup back to normal. My dogs have been seeing dr. Huber for years. One of my dogs has become more and more dog aggressive over the years to where my other dogs are now in danger of being killed. After much thought and anguish I decided I needed to put him down. I called hubers and asked if they would euthanize. Dr huber through the front person said he would. When I got there, a very irate dr huber confronted me and said I was a terrible person for killing a perfectly healthy dog. He even went so far to tell me I needed to be a better parent and teach my teenagers how to be more responsible and help me control my aggressive dog. My kids are 15 and 16. Really? A dog that kills other dogs should be monitored by a 15 year old. Ok. All dr huber needed to do was to tell me over the phone that he did not want to do it.Read Less

I run a rescue and my vet is in N Houston. We rescued a sick poodle from the Pearland shelter and my foster is in S. Houston. We heard Dr. Huber was good from a friend so we opted to try him. Dr. Huber is AMAZING!!!  My dog woke me a 4am & he was SICK!  Just moved to area & he was the closest to me, and took walk-ins, wow did I get LUCKY w/that!  We still don't know what started it but my little guy was in a very bad way. He spent 3days w/him. Frank just got home & is doing so much better & frank LOVES Dr. Huber. Even after 3 days of poking, shoving things in his mouth & a nail trimming(the ONLY person who has been able to BTW) I just don't know what else to say except I, my dog, mom & bf all love him. He kept my cost down, easily could have been thousands & I absolutely love the no frills, doing it for the animals attitude. He & his staff are one in a million & I will NEVER be able to express my gratitude. Frank is my little guy & he's been w/me thru so much, I was terrified but the Dr called every evening w/updates( Dr is dedicated, working til 8pm at least) Frank & I are truly lucky we found him. It's first come first served but never a LONG wait. Yes there IS a wait but it worth it. Dr. Huber is no frills and no shit. He doesn't beat around the bush, he doesn't give your animal what it doesn't need, rather just what it DOES need. I've had 2 recent pet emergencies and although we waited a bit it was worth it. He didn't defer us to the animal urgent care ($$$$$$). I've taken my dog to a "cream of the crop" clinic with fancy computers and really cool online health maintenence records and all the Bells and whistles. The staff were uneducated and untrained. The doctor was an arrogant SOB. The clinic is now closed of that says anything about their operations. If you're reading this don't wait. Go see for your self. Read Less

Dr. Huber is fantastic. He had never laid eyes on my dog prior to our emergency visit at 5:30 pm on October 31st, 2013. Our dog had been attacked by two dogs and was nearly dead when we arrived at his office.  The emergency clinic had not opened for the night yet. He was closing up shop for the day and didn't hesitate one second when I showed up with my girl that was covered with blood, mud, and fresh wounds all over her including her jugular that was nicked. He was very forward with us, truthful and respectful. He made Gooch comfortable, sedated her and called for emergency transport to the emergency clinic.  Yes, I said "emergency transport" for our girl. He told us "don't worry about the financial side, we would take care of it later and to get over to the clinic with our dog". The only information this man had on us was our girls name, our name and cell number.... and he let us walk out of the office. When we returned the following day,  his fees were more than fair and the simple fact that he went as far as he did for a family he had never seen, speaks volumes to me.  He is a great man and outstanding Veterinarian. He is very to the point, confident in his care and honest. I respect that and appreciate him and his staff. This happened in 2013 and I couldn't imagine having to go anywhere else. My husband's family has been coming to Dr Huber for over 20 years and I understand why.In March, I had my girls fully updated on vaccinations, testing, check-up, and microchipping. In April, we were about to pick up their medicine when the office notified me to try Trifexis instead. Not only was it cheaper (as a 3 in 1 med), but also helps prevent a fairly elusive worm.Now, the story of my review for 5 stars:Yesterday, while at the dog park, I noticed that one of my dogs seemed to be struggling with doing her business. After she finished and I scooped it up, I noticed blood and mucus. Naturally, I panicked.I called the office right away and they not only accepted to take the sample, but also to check my dog! Bear in mind, they should have been closed already but had stayed open to see everyone who came in (there's no appointment system, walk-in). The poor techs and vet were with us until 7 pm!In the end, my dog is going to be fine, but thanks to vet for quick administration of antibiotics and medication for over the weekend. Read Less

Our cat needed some immediate medical attention! Called her vet of 6 yrs at 8am, was told I could not bring her in until 5pm. Found Dr. Huber on line. He is so very kind and understanding!! He saw her right away, he explained all of our options to us. Unfortunately she was very ill. We had her put down this morning. Wonderful vet. Our pets have seen Dr. Huber for their medical needs for almost 10 years. His office works on a first come, first serve basis with surgeries done in the afternoons. If you don't have time to wait your turn, then get to his office by 7:45 am and wait at the door. Dr. Huber takes great care with my dogs and spends time explaining all options to me for the treatment of whatever we're dealing with at the time. I trust Dr. Huber. My cat got sick on a holiday weekend so there's not much to choose from. The EC quoted me $1,500-1,900 for a UTI. I left and went to Petsmart. They diagnosed ""kidney stones"" needing surgery. When Dr. Huber's office opened on Tuesday, I brought my cat in and he stayed for two nights. He did not have kidney stones and did not require surgery. After getting him home from Dr. Huber's office, the change in my cat was immediate. He called, after office hours, to check how my cat was doing and to deliver the good news that my cat's bloodwork came back normal....ruling out the kidney stone theory. I will never take my pets to anyone else but him to diagnose an illness. He knows what he's talking about and has the patience and compassion to figure out what's wrong. AWESOME VET!!!!! Read Less

He is an exceptional diagnostician, with exceptional follow up. He's been with 4 dogs of ours plus one cat. Even when he could not save my favorite dog he tried to figure out what happened and why. I still mourn Lalique and now he takes care of my girlfriends dogs and cat with the same care as he did all my previous animals. His staff is terrific and try to help with everything they can. They operate on a first come first serve basis when you come in before noon, and surgeries are scheduled for after lunch. Most people around the League City area know he is the best and try to be there early in the morn so expect to wait for at least an hour, however he, or his colleagues are worth it in my humble and honest opinion. We have been going to Dr. Tom for many many years. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else! When my dog had to have emergency surgery, Dr. Tom worked on him until about 11:00 p.m. He then took Jaxon home with him and put him in his walk-in closet with a heat lamp. When my pup was 8 weeks I accidentally shut her tail in the door and severed the tip of her tail off. She also had a hernia. I took her to NASA vet clinic and they wanted to charge me over 800$ and said I had severed her spine. They didn't put medicine on it or wrap it or anything. They also said I needed to have surgery on the tail and the hernia. They charged me over 100$ for this. For a second opinion I took her to Dr. Huber. He took the time while in surgery to come and check out my pup. He was so kind and didn't make me feel bad about the accident like the other vet office. He took a look and said that he felt like it would probably heal on it's on. He took great care in applying antibiotics and wrapped her tail, and loaned me a cone. That's right, loaned it to me! He also checked her hernia, he said that it wasn't a problem and she would live a normal life with out doing anything with it. He didn't want to put her through any trauma if he didn't have to. I feel nothing but confidence in Dr. Huber's office, my pup loves him and the staff. They remember her, etc. We live near his office and when she escaped from our back yard, Dr. Huber's office staff saw her running near the street and went and rescued her and called me to come pick her up! they are just so super cool! I'm sending my mom over tomorrow with her new pup! My pup is now 8 months old, you can't even tell her tail was severed or that she has a hernia! Read Less

My pitbull got a really bad infection in his arm from i think a cat scratch. We went and saw Dr. Tom because my mom knew his son and referred me to him. When i went in he was actually closing but let me right in anyways. I was pregnant at the time and my boyfriend and i were kind of struggling with money. Whenever he looked at it he poked at it, figured out exactly what it was and gave us medicine. I think he knew we were struggling so all he made us pay for was the medicine. He is the nicest doctor and i couldn't find a better one. There is usually a wait but it's worth it!! I wouldn't go anywhere else. His whole family works there, son, wife and daughter. Dr. Thomas Huber is a really cool vet!. He's extremely knowledgeable, professional, honest, and very caring about the animals as well as their owners. He has been our family's pets' vet for over 25 years. We've never had to wait very long. Dr. Huber is very thorough in his exams and makes sure the owner is aware of any future health issues that are characteristic for that particular breed of animal. My black lab had started to decline in health very quickly after she was fixed ( she was not fixed by Dr. Hubert ). I took her to Dr. Hubert because I had taken my animals in the past to him and was very happy with his consern for them. He could not figure out what was wrong with her and his treatment was making her worse. He got very mean with me...(while I was morning / it appeared my baby was dieing) He asked me how I could let this happen to my dog, etc....He blamed me so I showed him the reciepts from all the times I took her to the Hou. Humain Society and that I had been asking what is wrong with her. Every one told me she was fine...but I am poor and was just trying to save by taking her to the HHS. He advised I put her down. I asked him so you dont know what is wrong with her and she should be put down? I asked if he could refer me to someone for a second opinion before I can make a decision like that (my puppy was 1yr old). He refered me to this place you have to put $1000 down just to get seen. Meanwhile my sweet baby is dieing. A friend refered me to Dr. Grant @ New Concept (just a little down from Dr. Hubert's office), Dr. Grant diagnosed her with a liver shunt, perscribed a special food for her all for just $40. Today she is a strong, healthy, beautiful black lab who happens to be the greatest friend I have ever had. Read Less

I can't say enough about this vet. He was packed (i waited two hours!) but when it was my turn, i tried to be quick because i knew there was a ton more critters waiting, he said, ""this is your turn - i'm here for as long as you need me - you've waited your turn"". I still feel guilty that i took up so much time but he was truly concerned about my pet. (also, it was about 6:30pm!!!!!!) He called me the next day to make sure i was happy with the decisions i had to make for my cat, and i was very confident after his diagnosis and possible treatments that i had made the right decision. (my cat is almost 20 years old!). But this is only one time he helped me! The other time was years ago but i will never forget the care he gave her. He greets you at the front desk with a smile and asks how YOU are doing every chance he gets. We need more primary care doctors like him around!!! I only trust this guy with my dog. He's been my vet since I was about 10 years old. He's done several surgical procedures on previous pets who had bad habits of either eating rocks or being eaten by other dogs. His daughter was the assistant (not sure what she did - i was drugged) when I had lung surgery. I drive all the way from Midtown/Downtown to see him. My mom told him about my upcoming wedding while she was taking her dog for a visit. I went in for a visit a few months later and he remembered and gave me a wedding gift. How many vets do that? Dr. Tom has been my families vet of choice ever since he saved my 1st dog's life about 23 years ago. Brandy had been perscribed a medication (by another vet) that was not meant for small domestic animals (Brandy was a small Toy Poodle). Since then Dr. Tom has taken care of all of our 4 legged children. He even helped us adopt one of them. Nine years ago we ""fostered"" a Leader Dog Puppy (a Golden Retriever) for one year. During the time that we had this ""Future Leader Dog"" Dr. Tom took care of all of her medical needs - he did this as a donation. Thankfully, for us anyway, Sugar did not pass all of the tests to qualify as a Leader Dog & we were permitted to keep her as a pet. Dr. Tom & his staff love the animals they treat, probably as much as the families who own them. They do everything in their power to make a visit to their office a good experience. Sugar (the flunked out leader dog) LOVES to go to the vet. When we walk in, she stands up at the counter waiting to be greeted. It amazes people when they see a dog who willingly goes to see her Doctor. I don't know many people who will do that. Read Less

He has a wonderful ""bedside"" manner. Definitely makes you feel at ease. I have recently had two dogs pass in the span of 1 year prior to being refered to Dr. Huber. To say the least I am a little gun shy now when any of my animals are ill. He has been very kind. He has also been very generous. He has even did an EKG for free to help rule out a congenital problem. He will listen to all you have to say and make sure you understand. He does not rush you through the visit. As the other reviewer said... he is very upfront with the cost of anything so there are no unpleasant surprises. He is also not a vet that thinks that they have to recommend the most expensive product so they can get a good commission. He will tell you the best way to do something without breaking your wallet. i.e. if you have several small dogs... he will show you how to buy one tube of the flea medicine for large dogs and tell you the appropriate amount for each of your animals so you can buy one tube instead of 3-4. The medicine is the same strength... it is just the amount you administer that makes a tube for large or small dogs. This extra effort makes me believe that he would not order a test that is not needed just to boost his profit. His rates are very reasonable too. The only complaint that I have is that since he does not take appointments it is on a first come first serve basis. This can make for long waits in the waiting room. But if he did take appointments, he would have to rush to keep up and not take his time as he does. he truly seems to care about not only your pet... but for you too. I don't believe in vaccinating indoor cats and Dr. Huber is the first vet that has not required my cat to be vaccinated before he would see her.
