I went in for a check-up on 2 baby turtles (around 6 months). The doctors and personal there were amazing and gave a detailed analysis as well as give advise on best ways to take care of them. This place was fantastic when we started bringing our pets here but I can't even keep track of the amount of times they have messed up in the past few months. IT IS RIDICULOUS. My pets are both overdue a month on their medication because.. I don't know, I guess these people just can't read. I've called several times and have received conflicting information each time. Our sweet poodle Josie got sick on Sunday so we called emergency places to take her and because of reviews called Safari and after talking to a few cold people at other clinics, Ryan answered the phone and patiently listened to the symptoms, reassuringly went through what the processes are at their clinic and average price structure and offered to make us an appointment- the kindness and thorough attention to detail on the phone assured us that we were safe to take Josie in to be checked. Upon arrival there was zero waiting, Dara came in and checked on Josie and immediately began working with her, explaining in detail everything she was doing to Josie and why - without us even having to ask, we were able to stay with Josie every step of the way which was so important and Dara stayed right with Josie too. Sergio helped with her labs and was so personable and gentle with Josie. Dr. Willis was amazing too, he got all the results from labs and X-ray and met with us about Josies HGE diagnosis and plan of treatment! He even called us in the evening to reassure us that she was stable and resting. Dr. Willis is so knowledgeable and had answers for every question but he was equally as patient and kind and understanding as we tried to understand everything. Josie was admitted for a few days and Sergio let us know first thing in the morning about Josie’s status. so we went in to spend time with her after work and met her afternoon Nurse Melissa who brought Josie in to us and who came in and sat and explained her day and status to us and covered what would be happening today and tomorrow was very informative and kind as well and Josie loves her which tells you how great she is! I only stopped at five stars because that is my only option. We have a mixed breed little girl from the SPCA. Our dog Lily has never seen any vet other than the highly qualified Doctors at Safari.  Lily has had three emergencies. Dr. Garner and Dr. Mooney-Garner handled our situation with such amazing care. One situation was on a Sunday morning. Dr. Garner  met us at the clinic and handled her care with his usual calm, caring self. Michael Mooney is amazing,  he explained Lily's emergency and walked us through her treatment  plan.  We also use the grooming service. If I think sometimes needs corrected with Lily's grooming, i just ask , it is handled with a smile. I have had a few issues with the front desk.  I wish they would look at me and address me not stare at the computer.   Sometimes I feel they could be more friendly. Front desk employee's should greet everyone with a smile and address them personally.  This is the best care you can get for your loved one.  Your family member is at the one location that can handle anything. Dr. Garner can not  be compared to a regular vet., he is a specialist.  Dr. Mooney-Garner is lovely person. She is a caring doctor. I can't express my feelings of gratitude for their care of Lily. I just wanted to take a moment to brag on Safari and the people that work there. These people truly love animals and are so professional and friendly. They have a very well functioning office and are always accommodating. My dog went to day care only a couple of times, but months later when we had popped in to pick up her heart worm meds a woman (a doggy daycare worker) who was picking up her paycheck exclaims "Oh Ruby!" and proceeded to love on her. My dog had not been in months but the lady was so kind. I feel like Safari is very effective in treating my dog and they aren't pushy and don't try to sell you everything they can. In fact, many times the doctors have suggested inexpensive home remedies for certain issues. I love this place and Ruby loves going. I've never had a better vet experience. Read Less

This place is nothing but a money pit, $300 to neuter a cat when SNAP in Pasadena does it for $45 and then demanding my cat get 4-5 extra shots instead of just Rabies like everyone else asks for just to get groomed. My Daschund, Winnie, had had chronic back pain episodes which would sort of get better with drugs then recur. Dr Garner treated her with stem cell therapy 8 months ago and she hasn't had an episode since. Awesome clinic, awesome staff. Read Less

They have always been over professional and their medical knowledge is second to none. Where else are they developing stem cells for pets? My experiences with Safari Veterinary Care has been superb. One visit was a first checkup. Staff was so nice and informative. Second was an emergency and again, they took such wonderful care of my baby (and me cause I was uneasy). I boarded my baby there once and again, perfect and above the call service. I took my indoor kitty for neutering to Safari clinic in League City in Marina Bay Drive (2094). My kitty never had an issue with fleas once he was adopted.  About a month later I noticed him itching and then my other kitty started itching. At first I thought it was just dry skin. So one day I noticed a worm on his bottom, researched, and found out it was tape worms caused by fleas.  I called, what ended up being the wrong clinic, and was told to come pickup medication for both kittens.  I went to Safari to get it and that's when I found out I had called the wrong clinic. I had the same discussion with Kenneth. He insisted my kitten did not get fleas from their facility because it was almost impossible.  He said he cou6sell me someth6but not give it to me.  I also kept insisting my kittens did not have fleas until after the visit.  They don't go outside,  yard has no fleas, house has been flea free for years. Still no offer to help and said if he asked the doctors they would say it was a lie. So I won't be back and I'll purchase what I need elsewhere. Read Less

The vet clinic is excellent and Dr. Garner is AVBP certified. Only 900 Vets in the world have this specialist certification. Excellent care. I can't say the same about their grooming dept. Wanted my dogs nails dremeled.I first saw an employee lift my dog off the floor by her collar. Granted one hand was under her stomach but the other hand was lifting her 74lbs by the collar which obviously puts extreme pressure on her throat and I heard her Yelp!!!I then see him putting a muzzle on her. That was enough for me, I entered the room and told him to stop what they were doing. I advise them that I have never seen someone put a muzzle on my dog before to get her nails trimmed. The employee said well she tried to bite me. Personally I can see why she might have tried to nip him when he was picking her up by her collar.Someone needs to show this employee how to properly pick up a dog without choking the animal. After my doctors appointment I had the vet staff trim her nails instead of the groomer. But once again I will say the medical staff at this facility is excellent. Read Less

I had my dog boarded for the weekend and got a call on Saturday that he had blood in his urine. They wanted to do a urinalysis and exam by the veterinarian that cost $90 extra dollars. I consented because if my dog has blood in his urine it needs to be addressed. The following Monday the urinalysis came back negative. So nothing came of it except me losing $90. Then 3 weeks later I had to board him again for the weekend. I got the call again that this time he was having diarrhea. I didn't believe he had diarrhea & since I was picking him up the next day I ignored it-mainly because I felt like they were price gouging. When I picked up my dog they charged me another $90 for an exam and an injection for nausea without my consent!! They said it was because he got a nervous stomach & was vomiting. I will NEVER go here again for care! They're crooks who see an expensive dog (he's a full blood yorkie) & want to jack the price up to pay for there expensive facility. They've done this twice to me & I bet I'm not the only customer they're doing this too.Read Less

I don't understand where all the negative reviews are coming from. I've taken my dogs to Dr. Garner for 15 years. He has always taken the best care of them - even above and beyond what I expected. It IS a business so I'm not surprised when they have a laundry list of shots, recommendations and procedures that will cost me money. I do my research and then choose what I decide is appropriate. If I have questions, Dr. Garner (both of them) and the techs I've dealt with have always answered directly and honestly. When they want to take my pets into the back to weigh them I always go with them and have never had any issue or push back from the staff or doctors. There was a time when there were other vets and new techs so maybe that's where the problems are coming from? I rarely use the grooming service and then only for nail trimming. I've never had an issue. Unless Dr. Garner retires and turns the business over to someone else I will never stop bringing my pets to him. Read Less

I took my dogs to get groomed and the groomer recommended I shave them down due to the heat of the summer and said their hair will grow back. Well my dogs were there all day and when i went to pick them up, I laughed so hard because they looked ridiculous! Fluffy dogs are not meant to be shaved this much! I've been too embarrassed to post pics of them. My Aussie looks cute since she's already a little filled out but my Eskie looks terrible! I can't wait til their hair grows back! Kept getting jerked around on pricing when I told them everything they needed to know up front. Tried to get a final price so I could decide if I would take my dog there, and they told me they would call me back in 20 minutes. I got called back the next morning, so i guess they meant 20 hours(actually longer) instead of 20 minutes. After getting the 'official quote' on price, I decided to take him. Got a call back on my way to the business that it would actually be $65 more than their 'official quote.' Waited 30 minutes to get into a room followed by no full exam, just them obsessed with getting his weight. At no point did anyone try to pet him and get to know him and then they pulled an adjustable leash around his neck tight just so they could look at his belly. This made him even more scared and was completely unnecessary. Doctor looked at him for a minute and then the tech brought in pricing options like he was trying to sell me medicine. I recently brought my critically ill maltese to Safari. The staff is all very knowledgeable, professional, friendly, & willing. Even though my "furbaby" had to be hospitalized, I am convinced that we have her with us today because of their expert care. All staff members I came in contact with are committed to quality care. She used to tremble upon entering a veterinary office, but because of all the loving attention she received at Safari she struts in like she is right at home with absolutely no fear! I can't say enough good about this place and the staff. We had to bring in our exotic on a Sunday after hours from 1.5 hrs away. They did everything to save Dobby but sadly couldn't. Dr.Garner let us go in the OR room and try to get him to respond and he took his last breath while reaching out for me. They didn't rush us after he passed and even took money off our bill to do the Autopsy. I would highly recommend them and will use them again !! I've just moved to the area and my dog has been groomed here twice. In the past, I could tell a lot about her experience by the way she reacts the rest of the day. After both trips to Safari, she has been relaxed and playful the rest of the day. Today she engaged children and other dogs in her play. She looks and smells great! The staff has been careful both times to make sure to ask how I want her cut and has done as I asked.In addition, a friend of mine has taken her pets here for years and has nothing bu good things to say about Safari. I absolutely love Safari. I have taken my dogs to Banfield for years and it was just ok. At Safari the environment alone is very appealing. They have birds to view and even a couple of lemurs that are kept in a nice habitat. The staff is extremely nice and I am given a lot of information about my pets health. I brought a cat in off the street and took it to them the first day to be bathed and vaccinated. I thought the cat was a female as I did not see anything that led me to believe otherwise. They had my cat for 5 hours, bathed it and examined it, but never told me it was male. I even asked them to examine specifically for a scar that showed it had been spayed. They said they examined it twice for a scar, but never found anything. A week later I had to take it to my regular vet who discovered it was a neutered male. I did not do a close examination as we were still getting to know each other and I did not know how he would respond to my close examination. He is a wonderful kitty, but I will not be returning to Safari. They even charged me twice for bathing, which they did refund one bath charge, but would not refund the cost of examination which I requested in writing. I contacted the state organization that licenses vets and they told me I could file a complaint, but I did not do that.Read Less

Richard is the best groomer that they have ever had. I have been using this clinic and grooming since 1998. There have been groomers that were ok and worth doing business with, but when Richard took over the grooming, there are not enough words of praise to sing for what he has done. Read Less
