I have 4 dogs and 2 cats, all of whom have been very well cared for at the Lakeway Vet Clinic until our recent move to Leander.
Four days before Christmas I realized I hadn't seen my Maine Coon in a day or so, and found her hiding under a bed. She's normally very active and social, but for the next two days, she barely moved, wouldn't talk, and refused to eat or drink anything I put down. With her reduced to skin and bones, and getting worse, I made an appointment and took her to the Leander Vet Clinic.
We sat in the waiting room for half an hour with four idle staff behind the counter and one other customer in office, and were finally taken to a room. The vet came in, did a minimal physical exam involving no questions or medical equipment, and gave a diagnosis of 'Well, she's a little dehydrated". After maybe a minute or two of looking at my cat, he talked for ten minutes about FIV, feline leukemia, and the other fatal buzzwords, before suggesting we run some tests. The vet left, and about five minutes later, a tech came in with a $400 estimate for the tests they wanted to run.
I elected, instead, to pay $40 for the "service" I had received so far, and take my cat home. Spent the next three days hand feeding her kitten milk with a syringe every hour, then wet food, and finally back to dry. She's fine now, no thanks to Leander Vet Clinic, and all six of our pets will be going to a clinic that cares for animals rather than fear-mongering to cover their inflated overhead.
