We've been taking our pets to the Comanche Trail Vet clinic since we moved into the area around 2013. We picked that place first because it was conveniently located, but we've kept going back because every time we go has been a good experience, even when the reason we were there was not good. We really enjoy working with Dr. Gonzales. She explains things well and in-depth. She's not annoyed to answer questions. She seems to really care about the health and wellbeing of our animals (we have two dogs and four cats). The office staff are always friendly and courteous. They make it easy to make an appointment and they're good at keeping track of any medications or restrictions that our animals are on. Loving, caring and aware of their own limitations! We take our dog Beulah there and when she had a twisted stomach they were kind enough to be honest that at that specific time, with our dogs issue, we'd have better chances of saving her life by taking her to a hospital with 24/7 care. They put all of her records on a disc to make it easier and they took care of her incision check after the surgery. Ever since we moved here and adopted 2 puppies, Dr Martin and his staff have been awesome. From new puppy check ups and vaccinations and spaying, micro chips, one emergency (huge through the foot splinter removal at 5 pm) and lastly to diagnosing a very rare condition of a perfectly strong healthy almost 4 yr old dog. I am so thankful that my neighbor referred me to this office. I am a new dog mom and feel nervous about my puppies ailments. I have called them three days in a row regarding my pup Diego (I am annoyed with myself), they have been so kind and helpful to me. The staff is very helpful and did wonders for my kitty karma who was attacked by a dog she was so bad they said u could stick a hand through her belly but they wasted no time once we brought her in and got her all stitched up its been a week and her recovery is going great she is walking eating and has been since I brought her home she is a strong kitty but she would not had made it if not for Dr Martin and the staff here so I will always be so grateful and it didn't kill my bank account either which is another plus I highly recommend them to anyone in the area they are absolutely amazing !!!! My sweet boxer pupper was recently shot and needed emergency life saving intervention to save her. I rushed her to Comanche Trails without even an advance phone call, the staff immediately took her to the back and began working on her. She spent 6 days with them and is still continuing follow up treatment with them. They were all very compassionate and took wonderful care of her! Just wanted take the time to thank this office. My beloved pitbull has had skin issues since he was 8 weeks old. I took him to 3 different vets and a dermatologist (cost me $400 and did nothing). I was beyond frustrated and a co-worker recommended this office to me and thank god she did. I drove over an hour to visit this clinic thinking what the heck?!!! They saw my dog and recommended a staph vaccine for his skin issues even gave me the meds for me to give to him at home. It worked!!! I was so relieved! I've been here twice, once for a dental cleaning for my cat (back in 2015), and the second time my cat had an UTI (2016).  They are the most affordable vet I have found, and yet the staff doesn't compromise on their quality of care for the price. My cat HATES going to the vet and they are so sweet and gentle and try and make my cat as comfortable as possible. I can not say enough good things about this Vet and staff. Two days ago my German Shorthaired Pointer, Chaos, got hung up on a barbed wire fence off County Rd. 204 while dove hunting. It was bad, really bad, he was spurting blood everywhere from his elbow! He was bleeding so badly I thought he would die from blood loss. After applying a tourniquet I rushed Chaos to Comanche Trail. Two staff members met me in the parking lot and immediately attended to my prized hunting dog. They were very calming and assured me they would do all they can. After I cleaned up all the blood on myself. Dr. Martin came out to talk to me. He was professional and detailed on the puncture wound. He had cleaned and shave the area, and had me sit with Chaos to calm him down. If it was a artery, it was going to require serious medical attention, but if it was just the vein he would be okay. As I sat with him in the office he realized it was not artery that was hit, but the main vein. My dog was going to be ok. Dr. Martin gave me some directions to keep Chaos calm and how to help him heal. Now here comes the part that really made me a fan, after a emergency call, in which I was almost hysterical, my bill was under $40. dollars. When I asked Dr. Martin he said," We did not do that much". What a great Doc! I would recommend this Vet anytime, any day. His staff is tops too. They understood my maniacal love for my dog and were helpful and informative at all times. Also the guy who said Dr.Martin was hassling him over a bill in a review, I find it hard to believe. I really liked this Vet until I got behind on my bill and he sent my neighbors over to tell me to pay up. So unprofessional and unethical. I had been making payments! I called to talk to them about it and make the final payment and the lady I spoke with was very defensive. She said that the neighbors were just supposed to ask me to mcall the vet, but instead asked me to pay up. She became mad and hung up on me. We moved to Liberty Hill in August of 2013.  To be honest, I wanted to keep the vet I'd had in Round Rock, who I kept going to even after I moved to North Central Austin for five years.  I went in just for shot, but did not intent to totally switch veterinarians.  After my shot visit, I decided to give them a try for all-around pet care and have been very pleased.  One of my dogs has had surgery, another a heart issue...we have two older large dogs.   I am extremely happy with the care they have received.  The staff is always exceptionally friendly and they answer all of my questions and address my concerns in a professional, patient manor.  Highly recommend taking your pets here! Recommended by a friend, they are located an hour from my home, but worth the drive. I brought my dog in as an emergency, and even though they already had an emergency on the way and appointments, they got me in immediately. My dog had a uterine infection and needed emergency surgery. She had a fifty fifty chance before they learned her platelets were lower than they want for surgery. They stayed open an hour and a half late to care for her. Once home, I found they had removed her loose tooth and took care of her nails at no charge. She was well enough to eat that night, and by day three she was back to herself. They gave me a package deal to get bloodwork done at her check-up, where I was reassured her kidneys and platlets had completely recovered. They also removed the staples, to save me a trip. It's nice to have a clinic like this when you live a little further out from the "big city". Their hours are great and make it easy to drop off and pick up. The staff was friendly and Dr. Martin really seems to know his stuff. He also seems like a nice, down to earth guy. We took our older Lab in for some blood work a few months ago, and he took the time to explain the lab results and suggestions for her. Visited this clinic at an open house where we met the staff and got a tour. Everyone was so friendly, food was available, and gift bags were handed out.A few days later we got a call that we'd won a door prize, so back we went with our little Yorkie.  An exam, a test, and a few (needed) shots later that we inquired about since we were already there, we were on our way with a years supply of heartworm prevention.The vet is such a nice guy and everyone treated our little dog who tends to be quite timid and shy around strangers very kindly. Comanche Trail Veterinary Center is one of the best vets I have been to in a long time. The vet is straight forward and you really feel like he is telling you the truth. The staff are all really helpful and I felt like I could ask anyone a question and they would know the answer.I have been a pet owner for most of my life and I have had many vets look at my dogs, but Dr martin was great. I love it that he lives in Liberty Hill too. The prices aren't the very cheapest, but are pretty affordable and great for what you get. I live in Austin and have been to many of the local clinics. However, I choose to drive 30 miles to this clinic because it's customer service, care, and prices are second to none. Unlike the Austin clinics focused on making a buck with expensive prescriptions and overbooked schedules, Compassion is focused on whats important which is the care of your pet. Their prices on office visits, heartgard, dental cleaning and even heartworm treatment are unbeatable. What really sold me is how much they work with the regional rescue groups to save countless highly adoptable dogs. I've become a foster parent in part due to Compassion. When you visit them and realize how professional the place is, you'll be recommending it as well.
