Animal owners beware. This vet had many one star reviews and has had them removed. There is a reason he is the cheapest vet in the area. Remember you get what you pay for. I had to learn the hard way. They didn't give my dog antibiotics or steroids when they gave him his heart worm shorts when he was getting treatment for heart worms. He cuts corners. These corners can result in the dearth of your animal. I can say the vet techs and women at the front are the only thing that save them but I feel bad they have to deal with him. I read the reviews for this clinic trying to get an idea on cost for my dog's visit. I was a bit unsure at first due to some of the "attitude" issues with the vet. Personally, I don't care about bedside manner. I just wanted my dog to be assisted at a low cost and as long as the vet did his job by helping my dog feel better, it didn't matter to me. I also thought this vet might be misunderstood. I have to say my intuition was correct. The vet means well even though he may be abrupt. He is simply a "just the facts" kind of person. Give him a chance and you will see he is a great vet! The cost is lower than most vets and my dog is already showing signs of feeling better! I would have given zero Stars if that was an option. I took my dog to the vet she checked her out so she was perfectly fine two days later she died. Said she had a fever and her belly was a little stuff give her her shot and sent her on her way didn't do nothing. If you take your dog to the vet hopefully he or she makes it out alive. Read Less

I agree Dr. Johnson doesn't have the best bedside manner, but his staff makes up for that. If I was performing serious surgeries on a daily basis and having to deal with death everyday, I would not be a very charming person either. His personality is not what matters, it is his knowledge & ability for health care for your animal. If you are knowledgeable about what goes on in the veterinary world this day & age, you will be wise enough to appreciate normal, honest people caring for your animal. I've done business with them for years & I trust them.............and I am extremely picky & overprotective of my animals. Try some other doctors & get sweet talked into spending $$$ on conditions your dog doesn't even have. That just frees Dr. Johnson up to spend more time on my beloved pets. He doesn't need the money. Dr Johnson and his staff are great. We have a super overweight rescue dog that ended up with Heartworm. Dr Johnson seemed genuinely sad when he had to tell us that the test was positive. He explained that treatment is painful, and that it would be expensive because of her weight. He was right, it was a terrible experience for our dog. We will definitely be following his directions on prevention from here on out. As for the negative reviews, he definitely has a sense of humor! If you don't, you probably wont appreciate it. I for one, DO appreciate his sense of humor, as well as his honesty. He is always frank with us, tells us what he really thinks and does the best that he can to take care of our pets. He is willing to have the hard conversations, and doesn't mince words. I like that. For example, he's right, our dog IS overweight, and we need to resolve that. We've been taking our pets there for years and really like this place. The main thing we like is that if we call with a concern their immediate response is not always "Bring him in so we can take a look" (meaning pay us money). From time to time, depending on the symptoms they may have us bring them in immediately, but for the most part they have us wait a day or two and call them if the symptoms don't subside (which they always have). One of dogs had a bad limp and could hardly stand up. We thought it was his hip. They actually told us it was his knee, gave us an anti-inflammatory and he gets around great now. Their prices are also very reasonable. The doctor is blunt and honest and we trust him. When they put our dog on the anti-inflammatory we had to get him tested after 10 days to make sure it wasn't affecting his kidney. He told us that if there was a problem it would be immediate and no testing after the first 10 days was necessary. Most clinics require testing after 10 days and every 6 months (which would be a big waste of money). The doctor told us that was "bull s***" - that the company who manufactured the medicine said only a 1 time test was needed. I appreciated not having to waste the time or money to get him tested so frequently. Read Less

I got told that my dog is aggressive and that I'll get sued one day for him attacking someone. He went so far as to say that my dog was "going to eat his face off." My dog was so scared that he peed everywhere. His tail was tucked and he was shaking. I was so in shock that I couldn't even respond to how he was talking to and treating my dog. Not humans and not to make you smile and most certainly not to deal with pet parents with outrageous expectations. Doc Wade Johnson is NOT an ass and he most certainly is not Dr. Attitude. He's real, honest and blunt. Which is rare! And yes, he knows his services are not cheap. And he does use cheaper methods when possible. Yes, he will squeeze your dogs stomach. It's the exact same as when you go to the ER and palpitate your stomach. Please don't give a business a bad rating because someone was rude to you....or better defined, and in this clinic's case....honest. Do you want a doc to lie to you? I don't. For those that are thinking about bringing your pets here and are using reviews to decide on the clinic that's right for your pet, please read the good and bad reviews and take into fact that some people, not all, expect others to be kind and loving. -- I can guarantee you that Doc Johnson DID NOT drag a dog across the floor. Ever. -- That claim is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Others, like me, who wants my pet diagnosed, get treatment, and get out of there. I don't want my own doctor to beat around the bush just to be nice to me. All the negative reviews here are because of individual perception. Not of the business or the Doctor. A business. There are vet techs and office staff too. I don't mean to rant but some these comments are just nuts and very exaggerated. I have been to all three clinics in little elm along Eldorado and 423. Not one person at any other clinic were even capable of treatment without a $150 X-ray first. An X-ray is not always needed. Also...if you do not have the $$ to pay for a visit, use the low cost travel clinics (then you'll be begging to let Wade Johnson to treat your pet after your experience with these low cost mobile units). If you don't have the $$ for the low cost clinic, then you should NOT own a pet at all. Nothing is free. The clients that this clinic has, have been there for years, and they continue to bring their pets. There's reason behind that. Also, fees for any service at this clinic are extremely competitive and many times lower than others. My whole point is that Wade Johnson, DVM is there to care for your pets. Not the humans. End of story. Do not walk in anywhere expecting to walk on a red carpet....especially when you are going to decline vaccinations, micro-chips, and more. My Review.... Doc Wade Johnson is awesome!!! I called the area vets to find out how much it was to put my suffering cat to sleep the receptionist was so caring and understanding they didn't try to gouge me in cost like the others did they wanted any where from $100-150 this place was under $50 that's w u taking the body and bury it yourself. I took my cat there for vaccinations since it was a baby. I didn't think he needed microchip, so I opt out at the time he was neutered . The fee would have been $25 at that time. I came back 2 wks later to have my cat micro-chipped, the cost was $50, I didn't mind. Dr. "Attitude-Wade" made a very rude comment, said "you wouldn't have put me and your animal through this had you done it 2 wks ago, bad planning." Not only that he made that comment but also was very irritated at me. Dr. Attitude, why you even open the clinic or agreed to microchip my cat to begin with? Your service to me wasn't a charity. Not good with my sweet, sick. cat. The vet didn't know how to draw blood from my cat without sedating him. Once the blood work came in he didn't tell me he was anemic. Told me everything was fine. I had to go to another vet and gave her that the same blood work and she noticed immediately that my cat was anemic. They might be okay to get basic vaccines from, but I wouldn't use for a sick animal or any kind of true diagnostic workup. Read Less

I usually don't write reviews but have been thinking about this all day. We have used Dr. Johnson for four years now because he is close and we have only had routine visits for our two labs (vaccinations and spayed/neutered). We have never felt welcomed but have been satisfied with the medical side. Today I took my male lab in with an ear infection. He was really crying and shaking his head this morning. I did not realize it was low cost vaccination day so the pl...ace was super busy. When it was our turn, Dr. Johnson briefly looked at his ears, said yes infection in both ears, and left the room. All without even saying hello or any other pleasantries to me or my pet. The tech came in to clean his ears, Dr. Johnson stuck his head around the door and said in the future I shouldn't bring him in during vaccination day. As I am responding that my dog seemed to be in pain he was walking away with no acknowledgement whatsoever. The tech finished the procedure and that was it. We found Little Elm Pet Clinic when looking for low cost vaccinations.  For the vaccinations, they're awesome.  They just give you what you ask for with no lectures about additional services.  We have also taken pets there when they've been ill - something respiratory and ear infections and have gotten excellent service from the staff and the vet.  Prices have been very reasonable.  We just had our kitten spayed, again, thrilled with the kindness and friendliness of the staff.  No experiences with the groomer. I called and asked for a little help over the phone and we determined that my dog had an ear infection.  He has never had one before, so you can image my panic.  They don't take appointments on Saturday's, so its a first come first service basis (I'd prefer an appointment) but we got there and in about 20 min we were seeing the doctor.  The 20 min went by quickly due to talking with other patrons about their cute furry friends :)  After the doctor looked him over he said, Yep its an ear infection.  He gave my dog some stuff and we were on our way.  I couldn't believe how reasonable they were too!!!  The total trip took me about 40 min!  I am definitely a client for life :)  Thank again!! The service that Dr Johnson and his GREAT staff provided to my cat Sylvester quite awhile back was just excellent. My dad had taken him there after catching another uti. They began a treatment plan immediately while the infection was in the earliest stage at a completely fair cost. Money is tight these days but thank goodness little elm pet clinic was there. I took my dog in to see Dr. Wade Johnson today after struggling for months to try to get results with another local vets office.  My poor dog had been sick for months with significant weight loss and the other office had yet to do anything about it beyond testing her stool a couple of times and giving us a bag of dog food.  Dr. Johnson immediately discussed with us the medications he would give to her right in the office and those he would send home with us to both control the symptoms and take care of the underlying issue.   I will be transferring the care of both of my dogs to his office and will recommend him to everyone I know that has a pet.  I honestly can't recommend him highly enough. They are very reasonable on their prices and seem to generally care about the animals. HOWEVER, this man has HORRIBLE bedside manner with the owners of these pets. I recently had to put my 16 year old German Shepard,. She had gone downhill very quickly in the last 6 months and it was hard on us to have to break down and put her to sleep. During this decision making time, her annual came due, but we did not take her in knowing the right thing to do was put her down and not yet being emotionally ready. Finally we took her down just before Thanksgiving. Speaking to my dog, the vet said, "You have to go to the doctor if you want to live to be 100." And then preceded to berate myself and my mother as though the only reason she was in this shape is because we did not want to bring her in for a visit.I would recommend anyone go somewhere else. I took my Bullmastiff to Little Elm Pet Clinic for D. Johnson to do an exam on my dog, thinking he had a simple bacterial infection (skin). It turned out to be a life-threatening abcess which had become septic. Without Dr. Johnson's accurate evaluation & treatment of my dog, he would have died!
