I was crying and he prolonged the process and kept saying I wasn't ready! Of course I wasn't ready, I was never going to be ready! She was ready, her suffering was too much, but as a human mommy, I was selfish. He didn't give her enough and she started seizing and thrashing around so I really started crying. He turned around and screamed at me with hate on his face and said, "I told you that you weren't ready, it's not my fault she didn't give in to the first injection." Then he just shot her again with more and she went limp in my arms. The worst, most un-compassionate person I have ever dealt with, especially for a vet! Ra (my one year old pitbull) was neutered Friday August 4, 2017 by Kody Kothmann at Caprock Vetrinary Clinic. He was sedated at 8:30am and was supposed to be done with surgery by noon that day. However, an "emergency" came in, so his surgery was put off. He was picked up at 3:00pm the same day. (in a cage full of blood, urine and vomit.) Colton (my boyfriend) brought him home COVERED in blood and surgical spray. I knew something wasn't right immediately. His incision sight looked like something off a horror movie. I went to work while Colton watched him. I came home around 10:30pm. He was still bleeding, so Colton and I decided we needed to take him somewhere. After talking to Kody, and him telling me everything was "normal" on the phone, but that he would meet me at the clinic if I "thought it was necessary", we decided to go to the emergency clinic instead. The emergency vet clinic saw us around 12:00am, and said Ra had already developed an infection DUE TO HIS NEUTER earlier that day. The way she looked at the incision sight told us we had made the right decision coming in to the emergency clinic, rather than taking him back to the man who completely mutilated him. He got an antibiotic shot, steroid shot, and anti inflammatory shot, along with antibiotics and steroids to take at home. Since this surgery we've been to the emergency vet twice, Key Vet Clinic, and Animal Medical Center. Ra's on multiple antibiotics, steroids and pain pills to get rid of the infection. He just had another surgery to hopefully fix Kody's mess today. We've spent $750 since his first surgery done by Kody, not including the initial neutering bill. A nurse said when he was in his second surgery the skin that was infected and had to be removed looked like "hamburger meat." This man completely butchered our dog. If you care about your pet as another family member, and not just an animal (like this man does) DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS MAN! He has zero compassion for animals. Ra is our baby, and we don't want anyone else to have to see their baby go through this. Read Less

I'm very sad to say that I have completely lost faith in this clinic. I have always taken my animals there...and I have referred many friends and family members. I am very embarrassed now. I personally first began having doubts when I brought my cat home after being spayed and she bled for days. Never before had I experienced this, and I have had many cats spayed. They've all had sutures...but now the vet is apparently using GLUE. I took her back in bc I was concerned and they told me she was fine and sent us home. She did eventually heal...but it was a sad experience. Now, my sister has taken her puppy to be spayed and they again used glue...last night, after 5 days, her wound opened up completely and she had to be taken in again...sedated and sutured up with nylon...WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE TO BEGIN WITH. What does the vet do...charges and additional $150 today to fix a mess that could have completely been avoided and refuses to release the dog until they receive payment for their error. Blames my sister for allowing the dog to lick it when she insisted that she did not allow her to lick. I'm sorry but if you're using a glue that can be licked off.....by an ANIMAL...on an ANIMAL....then maybe it's the wrong choice for wound closure. I will never go back there again. I will never refer another person there and again...VERY EMBARRASSED that I HAVE ever referred anyone. :(Read Less
