Dr. Blaine Oden has been caring for my dogs for several years. Dr. Oden kept my Pointer, Lizzie going for several years while battling hemangiosarcomas. When it came time to make that hard decision for Lizzie, Dr. Oden was compassionate but upfront with me. He is absolutely the best veterinarian that I have ever had contact with. He and the staff are most caring and consider my dogs and myself as family. Today (4/21/2018), Dr. Oden was slammed with patients but he made room to get my Setter, Maggie, in to take care of her. Had an emergency visit for my dog who got bit by another dog and had to get stitches. Everyone was super nice and seemed to really care for my dog's well-being. One of the best experiences Ive had with any vet. After picking up a very ill stray cat the night before, we tried to take it to Live Oak but for many reasons had an awful experience and after over 2 hours we never even saw a vet. We contacted Gingered Blessings cat rescue that night and they got us into Oden the next morning. We were told they had a fully booked morning so there might be a wait but as soon as we arrived everyone made this poor stray a priority. Unfortunately the cat had to be put down but the vet was very sweet and did everything he could to make her passing easy. The clinic was immaculately clean as well. I was sent to Dr Oden from my former vet because they were booked and all I have to say is that he did an amazing job! This place is awesome! My dog Texas was pulling her hair out and scratching so bad. Dr Oden was very good and got her some medicine and she finally got a good night's sleep and she's not scratching as much. I'm sure that will all stop soon. Absolutely wonderful vet! We met him in a Tractor Supply store check out line when he went to love on our pup and immediately noticed her severe issues. She's a young and very high strung Australian shepherd with horrible allergies, who had only ever seen a country vet who treated her with steroids. Dr. Oden got our pup on a medicine that has completely changed her quality of life, and was very good at explaining things on a level that we could understand. He was very knowledgeable on current treatment opportunities, and his office and staff were very inviting. My kitten recently became ill and I took him to the ER vet but followed up with Dr Oden, who is our primary vet. Dr. Oden took time to explain what was wrong with my Bennett and to discuss my fears. We had our first visit today when we had to have our precious Chihuahua put down. My husband and I were in tears and when we showed up to our appointment we were immediately greeted and ushered to a private room so we didn't have to wait in the lobby. Every staff member we met was amazing and very respectful to our feelings. We were given time to say goodbye and when Dr. Oden came in he was very sweet and compassionate. We were encouraged to take our time in our room after it was over and compose ourselves before we left. We could have not asked for a better experience, despite how heart breaking it was. Dr. Oden took care of my cats and then my puppy while he was at another facility. He left and I was soooo sad to not have him available for my babies. He did dental cleaning, routine check ups and diagnostics tests when my kitty became very ill. He was kind and caring when the end came for my kitty. He is the one I took my new puppy to and got him up to date and was wonderful (Leo was 1 1/2 years old). I am delighted to say that he is back in Lubbock and has his own place. I took my puppy, Leo, to see him today. The same caring and professional vet he still is I'm happy to say. Also, his prices are so much more reasonable than his old facility. Just went by to take our 2 dogs to get vaccinated and all the staff was great! I was greeted and the receptionist took the time to put in my information since we were new. Prices are very reasonable. Rabies shot good for 3 years! That's just so amazing. Tech was so nice to talk to. Dr. Oden is very professional and was very thorough with my pooches. He even clipped my dogs pinky toes. Dr Oden has been providing care for my 9 y/o boxer mix since late December 2015. She was diagnosed with a primary hyperparathyroid and he quickly referred us to Veterinary Medicine Specialist of DFW/Grapevine. The confirmation of diagnosis and surgery was the simple part. The challenge has been supporting her while her remaining parathyroids regulate her calcium again. Dr Oden and his staff(Christy, Cat and Brian) have been a Godsend. They not only provide excellent care, they also lavish affection on my fur baby. We have spent many days (and will continue to do so) in his clinic and I'm overjoyed to see how she feels at home. Short summary: Great, caring vet at a good price. When Dr. Oden was at the West Plains Veterinary Hospital in Levelland, he would always show great care and was very knowledgable. He has a great ability to explain in an understandable way what is going on with our dogs. He has now begun his own practice in Lubbock. Today I took my older dog to Dr. Oden's new clinic to seek a diagnosis on an ongoing limp. He found what another veterinarian missed: a ligament injury near my dog's shoulder when it stepped wrong in the snow. No surgery was needed, but lots of rest, as well as some pain medication and an anti-inflammatory. The cost for the visit and medication was very reasonable.
