I called asking if anyone had lost to precious dogs, I had them in my yard after they wandered in this morning. When the woman answered the phone for this Clinic and after I asked her about dogs missing she said "no we don't have anything about missing dogs" then just as quickly said "bye". She didn't take any of my information or any information about the dogs. As an owner of two dogs that are my life I would never put them in the hands of someone like this risking their chance of coming home. Read Less

I called literally every vet in Lubbock for estimates on spaying my lab and my mom's chorkie, and this place had the best price. I was a little apprehensive going in: everything is avocado green and looks really retro, the printer is even the type that you have to tear the edges off of the paper, I hadn't seen that since I was a kid! Dr. Jury came out to give both dogs the shots they had to have before getting spayed and explained every part of what he was doing, and the dogs loved him. Now, I'll admit I was worried that he would be able to do a lot, because he's an older man that seemed fragile, but he is amazing! They scheduled the appointment for the actual spaying later that week. We took the dogs in and he was very understanding about how worried we were about leaving our dogs for the day. When I went to pick them up they let my dog come see me immediately because she was crying for me, and she walked out better than I expected. Dr. Jury is up to date on the best and newest techniques, he was able to stitch them up to where they didn't have to wear the cone of shame, and don't even have to come back for a follow up appointment! They're currently healing and in great shape. Thank you Dr. Jury! Read Less

Wow, I read the other review and it just tickles me to death to know that others out there "get" Dr. Jury.  I have 8 dogs and 3 cats!  (No, I am not crazy or a horder or whatever, I just rescue and then keep!)  Needless to say, we spend a lot of time and $$$ on our family of pets. When I first went to Dr. Jury, I thought he was the meanest ole man!  He never smiled and was really gruff, but he was much more reasonable on his fees and he never ordered tests unless it was absolutely necessary.  His wife, Pat was so sweet that she sort of made up for his "bedside manner".  WELL-- that was probably 10 years ago and now my husband and I both know that George Jury is the sweetest man alive.  He truly loves animals and he won't put up with anyone that neglects their pets! Period.  My guess is that he has seen the worst and best of pet owners.  Probably more bad than good, but we hope that is changing these days.  I think he reserves the right to observe before he trusts you.  If you don't take care of your pet - don't darken his door because he will TELL you what you're doing wrong.I encourage anyone looking for a vet to get over to him.  He will take excellent care of your pet and he won't rob you either!  My biggest fear is that he is nearing retirement age and he cannot be replaced.  I know, I've been to them all at one time or another.  WE LOVE THE MAN!!!Jon and Eve AventLubbock Read Less

My first experience with Southwest Animal Clinic was when my cat Awnie went missing in 2001 about a year after I moved back to Lubbock from the West Coast. Devestated, I cried for three days straight. I visited the pound three times a week for months, ran an ad in the paper for weeks, and went to every vet and clinic in town to post fliers.Exhausted after hitting up almost every vet in town, I walked through the door and went to the reception area. There is a distinct retro feel to the whole place, like it was designed in the 60's or 70's and still has the same furniture. No one was there, so I called out and waited. Before anyone came, I was surprised by a giant orange and white cat jumping into the reception window and purring at me. A moment later, Dr. Jury walked to the window. He genuinely acted like he cared and was sorry that my cat had disappeared. His sweet demeanor sold me on bringing my pets to him for care.I was in Lubbock for 7 years, and one of the hardest parts about leaving was knowing I would not have Dr. Jury and Pat (his wife who acts as receptionist sometimes) near my new home. I have never met a vet that cared so deeply about the animals that came in.When my mom's greyhound caught a random disease and withered away in about a 4 week time span, Dr. Jury was so wonderful and soothing, and made the experience much less traumatic than it could have been. When we took her to finally be put down (she was literally skin and bones by that time), he asked if he could do an autopsy to try and figure out what had happened. He never charged her for his services during the whole ordeal. When our goofball canine Domino was choking on something for about an hour around 10pm one night, Dr. Jury answered our call from home and met us up at the clinic. He pulled the blade of grass out of Domino's throat (that's right, a blade of grass!) and never charged us for the night visit.I only say all this so you can understand how deeply this clinic cares about animals, and how kind-hearted they are.If you haven't located a vet in Lubbock, or if you are feeling that yours isn't up to par, please visit Dr. Jury. You will never meet another vet so clearly in the business for the love of animals. Read Less
