I’m new to the area and was looking for a good vet to provide service to my dogs. I own Cane Corso’s it’s an Italian Mastiff breed...show and working lines to be exact. After reading reviews I decided on the Manor veterinary Hospital to do annual vaccinations that were coming due for one of my pets. I booked the appointment and arrive early just so I would be on time and prepared. The staff (two young men) were very friendly and accommodating. At this point all was going well. Once I was called back to the waiting area the gentleman that prepped for the vet to come in was super nice as well to my dog and to me as well. As soon as the vet/owner walks in she starts out with poor dog! Your ears and tail...for those that don’t know cane corsos are a breed that cosmetically have ears and tails trimed and docked. It has been a breed standard for years. As for my dog the dock and trim had already been done before purchase. The vet comes in and proceeds to antagonize me based off her personal opinion on docking and ear trimming. Mind you this is my first visit. I came to pay for a service. I would simply suggest that if there is a prejudice against docked tails and trimmed ears it should be known publicly so that others have a chance to make the proper decision for themselves and their pets. Personal attack’s are never warranted due to a personal opinion. I you don’t like it...simply let the public know and they can take their pets with docked tails and ears somewhere else. Simply put. Beware when dropping your pet off. I was informed that if you sign or initial the paper they want everyone to sign when dropping off they can do what they want and charge you for it with out talking to you at all. My cat had $400 worth or xrays and blood work done 5 days before I dropped him off for an enema & fluids. I came back to a $750 bill. The same blood work and xrays had been redone, without asking. When I asked how was it morally or ethically acceptable to do hundreds of dollars of work without giving any estimate or heads up I really couldn't get a clear answer. The only response I got was my invoice would be in the mail! I have never had a vet do this and even this one on the last visits gave an estimate before proceeding. Apparently there are different rules & procedures every day. This is by far the most ridicules and shady experience I have a with a vet. Read Less

My husband and I have been taking our pets to Dr. Bonnie Carter at the Manor Veterinary Hospital since 2002. She has always taken excellent care of our cats and dogs. (We've had six pets, and she has cared for all of them.) We have an elderly cat with a number of health problems who very well might have died by now under a less competent vet's care, but is still thriving to this day thanks to Dr. Bonnie Carter and her associate, Dr. Cole Carter. When our cat, Snickers, developed liver cancer and her time came, Dr. Bonnie came to our house so that Snickers' last moments could be spent at home. She did the same when our dog, Speck, developed an immune disorder and all treatment options had been exhausted. She has also made house calls to see our elderly cat, Maggie. I trust Dr. Bonnie Carter to give my pets the best possible care. When our pets have needed specialty care, she has referred us to excellent specialists. The staff at the the Manor Veterinary Clinic are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and their love of pets is evident in all they do. They always call the next day after an appointment to make sure the pet is doing well, and they always ask how my pets are doing when I drop in to pick up medications or food. They make sure we understand all the instructions on medications, and help explain diagnoses when needed. Here's how much I value the Manor Veterinary Clinic: When we first started going there, we lived in Elgin and the clinic was somewhat local. We moved into central Austin in 2009 and even though there are a plethora of veterinary clinics closer to our home, we still prefer to take our pets all the way out to Manor when they need care. It is absolutely worth the drive, even in heavy traffic, to know that my pets have the best care there is. The other reviewer on here complained about being made to wait to see the doctor even though they arrived on time. In my opinion, having to wait is a good sign. It means Dr. Carter is not rushing her other clients through, but is spending as much time as needed on each one. Sometimes you have to wait for quality care. I love my pets more than life itself, and I would rather have a vet who takes the time to make sure they get an accurate diagnosis and the best possible care than one who rushes through all their appointments. MULTIPLE RIP OFFS I took my dog to board and was asked about an influenza vaccine and I said okay about what the front desk was saying. When I filled out my form for boarding I said NO on the form for vaccines. When I called to check and see how much the bill was it was and outrageous bill. Initially, they had 4 influenza vaccines on the bill that had to be adjusted. When I said I circled NO on the form they said yes but that was X'ed out and YES was circled. I told them I did not do that they were like sorry and oh yeah he will need a booster in 3 weeks. Oh NO I will go to ATA for that. The vaccine was $23.00 and not needed at the time. They were also suppose to bathe him on Monday when I picked him up they bathed him Sunday and then told my husband when they called him (yes not me) that he had diarrehea with blood and needed to give him an exam and some meds he said NO they did finally decide he needed another bath. My husband picked him and and he has not had one loose stool at all. They are just money hungry and trying to make money off everyone. There were elderly people coming in when I dropped him off and they were telling them their dog needed this vaccine and of course not telling them how much it cost. Not a happy customer at all!!!! I was also told I could not speak with the vet! Read Less

My dog who has been a patient for two years just got hurt and just needed 5 min for a vet to look at her cut. I literally live two min. from the clinic in Shadow Glen. The receptionist just said there was no way..did not even ask a vet if they could squeeze her in just said no. I was upset and instead of being professional she started to get upset and yell. I would never reccomend this clinic to anyone that needs special attention or an emergency for an animal. They just do not care!!!!!! They are not the type of vets that go above and beyond like many other vets will do. They are only there for the paycheck. I picked up my dogs records which included a false statement by the staff worker named Georgia about our conversation. In addition when I asked to leave a message for the clinic owner to call back about the false information on the dogs records Georgia the desk lady hung up on me and after she told me ""Good with that"". I booked an appointment at 10:30 AM, and arrived on time. I was told by the person at the front desk that my appointment was at 10 AM, and that they would make an exception, and "squeeze me in". I waited until 11:30 to see the doctor(I was just about to get up and leave). The doctor was nice enough, but informed me that my cat needed to have it's teeth cleaned, and that she would not be able to do it without having several hundred dollars of blood word done first. I was going to get all the services she recommended(even though I could not really afford it) because I love my cat. Upon putting my cat back into the car, I found the appointment card, and it clearly stated that my appointment was for 10:30. I asked the doctor to give me a discount because I was on time for my appointment, and was made to wait for an hour under the guise that I was late. The doctor took no responsibility as if I had made the appointment with a stranger on the street that was not related to her in any way, or as if I had made the appointment myself without coordinating it with her staff. She indicated that she would prefer to not have me as a customer, than to make a small adjustment to my bill. I canceled any further services, payed my bill, and left to write this review. Our first experience with Manor Vet Clinic was when we found a puppy on the side of the road in Manor who'd been run over. We rushed him there. They took him in with open arms, and didn't act like the vets we've encountered in Austin (yes, I'm a bleeding heart and rescue lots of critters). Many other vets, when you take an injured stray offer only to put it down, and only then if you will pay for it. Not here...they are there for the animals, obviously! We all said we'd work on finding him a home, and they never once asked us for payment for saving this little one. Then, a day later, the vet tech decided she would keep the puppy herself. That is bound to be a great home! We quickly switched vets from our Austin vet and have had unbelievable experiences with them ever since with our dog: routine check ups, health problems, boarding...you name it, they are GREAT at it! This is by far the most ridicules and shady experience I have an with a vet.

When we first moved here 7 years ago I would have given Manor Vet 4+ stars. They had decent prices & caring staff. That has all changed. My dog is now 14 years old and not doing well. We do not have alot of money for tests and treatment, yet want to do the right thing for our dog. Manor Vet was unwilling to help without getting expensive tests done. When I called back a month later to ask for more advise they no longer want to see me as a client. I believe another person posted a similar problem. What a shame. Read Less

Read Less

Then, the medicine prescribed was all stuff that wasn't called out from the test results, but stuuf that he already knew the dog would be needing before going on this quest to discover nothing. Overall, my bill was over $500.00 and feel that $400 of it was wasted on testing... now I don't have money left to fix my dogs teeth or have anything else done.... WOW! If needing a vet in the area go to Elgin Vet Hospital. They took me as a walk in right as there were closing were friendly understanding and most of all cared deeply for my pet Read Less

Hope it helps. Read Less
