I have a 5 year old cat. We moved back down to Brownsville 4 years ago from San Antonio but have still maintained his vet from up there. Unfortunately, my cat started showing signs of a severe ear infection and needed immediate care. He had an appointment at 3 pm, but I took him in at 9 am and the staff took us in without a hassle. I had heard great things about this animal hospital and so glad I gave Dr.Carson a try. She is amazing. I am very picky with the care my baby receives and can’t thank her and the staff enough. She is very intelligent,caring, thorough and patient with my grumpy cat. She took the time to explain everything she found on his tests and made it a point to calm my nerves. She does not do anything that is unnecessary, but explains every recommendation she has. I love that the meds are available at the clinic including the type of sedation my cat requires. We're away from home and needed the services of a vet. We searched online and chose North 10th Street Animal Hospital based on the excellent reviews, and we'd like to thank the reviewers for recommending them! We were asked to come in during walkin hours and were greeted warmly at reception. Within minutes we were in a room where a friendly and professional vet tech got the necessary background info. Minutes later Dr Horn did her exam; she was very thorough and very accommodating, answering all of our questions and offering an explanation as to why our pup has this recurring problem. She brought us back to the treatment area so we could fully understand what was going on. She even suggested that the lab tests we had asked for earlier were unnecessary, based on what she had found. We have been very happy with Dr. Carson and the staff. We switched last year to have a vet closer for my senior dog and quickly decided to bring the other 2 dogs and cat to Dr. Carson as well. I appreciate that she is candid and straight forward about care options, answers my questions but respects my decisions, and she remembers us. Maybe not me but she knows the dogs names, which I totally understand. After 4 years with our previous vet, I felt like new patients every visit. With a large breed, senior dog that visits 3 times a year, that rubbed me the wrong way. Not Dr. Carson! She asks about him even when we bring the other ones. Cost wise, 10th Street is not a cheap vet but costs are average and within my expectations. This veterinary Hospital has been amazing to our 3 pups. Dr. Holly Horn is an excellent person. Always happy and she transmits that to you while she is taking care of your babies. We've had very tough situations with our pups as they are older dogs but she has always gone above and beyond to help us and explain what the situation is. I took my Yorkie to this vet for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Previously he was a patient at Banfield but that's a whole other story. Anyway, I called in to make an appointment because my puppy had a swollen eye he kept scratching at. They were gracious enough to squeeze him in for an appointment within the hour. Off we went to the vet's office to get some relief for my Yorkie. We showed up about 20 minutes before the appointment to have enough time to fill out any necessary paperwork since this was our first visit. When we walked in we were told to wait to be called. So we sat and waited..and waited..and waited..and waited until almost half an hour passed and it was after the scheduled appointment. I was told that I had to fill out a form for a new "patient" and so I sat and filled out the form. I handed it over to the girl at the counter and she said we would be called soon. After almost 30 minutes more had passed, I went up to the counter and asked the girl if it would be much longer. She said, "They'll be with you shortly" and she proceeded to take the application I filled out and put it in a folder then hand it to the guy that's at the front desk too. After about 20 minutes more we were finally called in and then I explained what was wrong with my puppy to one of the assistants. He said the vet would be in shortly. Finally, the vet came into the room and checked my puppy. I was given an explanation as to what procedures would be done and the approximate cost. I agreed and they took my puppy to the back. He was brought back soon and I was told it was a sting that my puppy had. The vet made me feel very comfortable and confident that my puppy was getting quality service at this office. The total cost of the visit was approximately $200, which included a three-month supply of comfortis for flea control, the consultation, and medications. I will definitely be bringing my puppy back for regular check ups and preventive care. I even get a weekly newsletter (specific to my puppy's breed) that provides a lot of interesting information. Dr. Horn is wonderful, kind and attentive to the needs of my cats and answering all my questions. She and the staff are very careful when they work with my older cats. This week they didn't charge me when they couldn't get blood from my cat. Dr. Horn also made sure I got a discount on Revolution when the front office staff didn't know about the promotion. First of all I haven't even taken my puppy there and I can't even get through to make an appointment. I've called 3 times first time as soon as the automated machine transferred, they hung up the line. Second time I called they answered and they asked if I could hold. I held until the line started ringing again they never answered. Third time I called same thing, they answered I couldn't even get one word in before she said for me to hold again. I've read the reviews some good some bad, some had to do with them not answering calls which is what I experienced. I'm just taking my puppy somewhere else seems like this business is way too busy and maybe just doesn't have anymore time for new pets.Read Less

Transferred my care here because another local vet over charged, kept me waiting for days to get critical refills & even denied they gave the RX in the first place (yet their name was on the RX) for RX's & then required blood work before they would issue any refills even when bloodwork was not medically necessary. Overall poor service. I was referred to this clinic by a friend who recommended Dr. Peacock. I was thrilled with her kindness & concern, willingness to listen & her promise to ensure RX's would be refilled within 24 hours. If you need to be ripped off, Lied to and treated poorly this is your Animal Hospital!!! I called to check on the price and make an appointment for my cat to have her front claws removed. I was told it would be $45 and was only done on Tuesdays. I have just returned from that appointment and the price was $455.40. If that wasn't bad enough I called before I left home to make sure everything was a go to pickup my cat. I waited through a couple waiting rooms full of people. It seems if you complain a bit they move you up to the pickup list of first come first served pickups. If you call they usually put you on hold although there are usually 2 or 3 people at the desk at all times. It's one thing to have a few add on's another to flat out steal people's money. They also called to tell me that they made an error in the amount of pain medication they gave me for my cat. GOOD LUCK if you get hosed you were warned. Read Less
