The RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic in McAllen is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing the pets of the Rio Grande Valley with high-quality, low-cost sterilization services. Our high quality spay and neuter services support our mission to reduce the overpopulation of pets in this area. The Clinic is staffed with an experienced veterinary medical team providing you and your pets with the most compassionate care possible.
Spaying and neutering your pets is highly recommended due to the pet overpopulation which results in the euthanasia of tens of thousands of dogs and cats each year in local animal shelters. Spaying or neutering your pet is the most humane alternative to euthanasia.

This place was cheap, efficient, and had a very caring and knowledgeable staff. This is our first pet, male cat, and the staff let us feel comfortable leaving Felix there to get the procedure done.

I was disappointed with the DVM doing the Saturday morning vaccines, Dr Fletcher. The staff was friendly but not the doctor himself. He had a lack of bedside manner and walking away from the owners, which is us and my pet dog. My puppy was going in for vaccines and was sick also so yes I did want a physical checkup on my pet at the same time. But I did not know on Saturdays they do not do wellness checkups on any pets. So with that misunderstanding, I was explaining to him about my pet, and as soon as he knew yes, she was sick he literally walked away from us. (Confused) I said aren't you the doctor? Your not going to do an assessment of my pet? At the door, He said " I HAVE OTHER PATIENTS TO SEE" and walked out without an explanation and really ignored my further concerns. The other employees working there had to explain on Saturdays is strictly for vaccines only but even if I did not know at that time. That doctor could have explained that to us but in a good customer service way, since he does work there as an employee himself too. So if you do go there, call ahead and book but don't go with Dr. Fletcher as he simply shows lack of caring as a "professional". And well, doesn't care about educating the owners.

Everybody has to please understand that when they are discharging your dog, cat, it takes a bit. Im pretty sure everyone would want to here how their little family member did during surgery. I wouldn't want them to flip them outta post op like a burger.. Patience is key.. Just breathe

This clinic is terribly difficult to reach. Most of the time their phone line is busy and its a miracle if you actually get to talk to somebody. I had to book an appointment online to get our dog spayed. The front office staff could be a bit friendlier. I guess its the volume of pets they're checking in daily that makes them rush through things. I wish I had gone somewhere else to get my dog spayed because after her appointment they told us she had 2 retained canines and that they needed permission to extract them. I would have given them permission before the appointment but they didn't even notify me that that is common practice to remove any puppy teeth during their spay. Now, months later and her teeth haven't fallen out, I called to ask why they weren't removed and the man said that it just depended on which vet I got. Apparently there are 2 and only one of them does extractions. It would have been good information to know before the procedure. Now she will have to be put under again to extract the baby teeth. It all could have been avoided had they asked me the proper information and informed me of their services. Spend your money elsewhere where your pet wont just be a number to them!

I took my cat there to get spayed. Extremely affordable and great care. My only gripe is they gave my cat a bit too much anesthesia for her weight and was out of it for a good 16 hours or so. She managed just fine thankfully. Even though that happened, I would still definitely take another animal to their clinic.

We rescued an English Bulldog a few months ago, and this clinic was the cheapest option to get her spayed. We were able to get her microchipping, spay, her hernia fixed (plus pain medication and a cone) for under $150! Our vet was going to charge us double that amount, so I appreciate that this clinic was able to get us such a great price for everything. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and I would definitely recommend this place to others. They do not answer their phone all the time, but they are also available via Facebook and email.

I have had the best experience at the RGV Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic. I have taken all my pets there to be spay and neutered. All the employees there have always treated me very well and have explained pick up and drop off times for my pets, even with the high volume of clients I have always been able to get my appointments and services completed in a timely manner. When I call, if I don't get an answer I LEAVE A MESSAGE, AND I HAVE BEEN CALLED BACK, I HAVE MISSED THERE CALL BEFORE AND THEY HAVE LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL. We should be grateful to have such a wonderful service like this in the valley.

We rescued an English Bulldog a few months ago, and this clinic was the cheapest option to get her spayed. We were able to get her microchipping, spay, her hernia fixed (plus pain medication and a cone) for under $150! Our vet was going to charge us double that amount, so I appreciate that this clinic was able to get us such a great price for everything. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, and I would definitely recommend this place to others. They do not answer their phone all the time, but they are also available via Facebook and email.

I have had the best experience at the RGV Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic. I have taken all my pets there to be spay and neutered. All the employees there have always treated me very well and have explained pick up and drop off times for my pets, even with the high volume of clients I have always been able to get my appointments and services completed in a timely manner. When I call, if I don't get an answer I LEAVE A MESSAGE, AND I HAVE BEEN CALLED BACK, I HAVE MISSED THERE CALL BEFORE AND THEY HAVE LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL. We should be grateful to have such a wonderful service like this in the valley.
