Called this office at 6:15 pm because they were open till 8pm and we had a pet emergency. The receptionist made me go threw a bunch of questions about my cat and kept me on the like for 15 mintues only to tell me they didn't have any room for an emergency visit. Mean while I had my cat in pain in my arms. Our dog fell ill over the new years Holiday so we took him to Highlands-Eldorado Vet Hospital, they diagnosed the problem as an infection in his stomach. The cost of the appointment was over $400.00 which we thought was very high but we would pay anything to insure our pets health as most pet owners would. When we went to pay with our check they told my wife they do not accept checks because they never clear the bank, (I guess that don't think much about the people who live in the McKinney area). We did not have enough available credit on our cards because of the Christmas Season and I could not move money into the account because the banks where closed. What Highlands did next was what we couldn't believe, they held my wife and daughter in a room and would not let them leave, they interrogated my wife in front of my 7 year old daughter to the point she was in tears and my daughter was in tears and frightened. They asked my wife if she had any friends she could borrow the money from to pay the bill while my daughter stayed there. My wife called me in tears and said I needed to get up there because she was literally afraid that they were going to call the police and have her arrested. I rushed up to the clinic to find my wife and daughter in tears, I made arrangements to pay the bill when the banks were open and payed the total amount due when I said I would pay it. We will never take our pets to Highlands again and plan to tell all of our friends about our experience. Highlands seem to care more about there $$$$$ than your pet! Read Less

Words cannot describe how fantastic this hospital and staff are. I had a sick Guide Dog puppy in training today. Despite being completely booked, I was told to bring the pup in. This was not a simple case, and was time consuming for the staff, but despite that, neither me or the puppy was rushed or made to feel a nuisance even though it was late on a Friday afternoon. This puppy had been traumatized at another veterinary office by being over handled including being muzzled when she reacted fearfully. At HEVH, Dr. Taylor personally took his time with this obviously nervous pup, showing her the syringe, being gentle, talking softly and moving slowly with her. His staff was equally supportive and gentle with this young dog, and I am sincerely appreciative to them for their care and help. She will recover nicely, and I will continue to send other puppies in training to them for veterinary care as well as tell people about this wonderful hospital for the care of their own pets. Dr. Taylor and his staff are wonderful. Dr. T, Dr. K, and all the staff are very caring,knowledgeable, compassionate, honest and never make me feel like my questions are dumb!!!! If I'm concerned about charges I ask and they tell me exactly what to expect. I shopped around for vets before coming here and they are no more expensive than most other vets and I've never had a bad experience here. Dr. Wes Taylor is THE BEST OF THE BEST!! He is a 100 on a scale of 1-10. My husband and I are amazed at his awesome bedside manner, compassion, care, and then some. His staff has been terrific. My wife and I have been quiet pleased with the vets and staff at Highlands-Eldorado. We've been going there about two years now and they've been fantastic. At first, to be frank, I thought they were expensive. In time, I learned that they are not just reasonably priced, but also professional and worth it. My dog Maverick has had a surgery there and everything was included in the price. They also, went above and beyond for him, even offering to watch him one day when I needed to go to work and couldn't look after him as long as his sister who tagged along that day. A few random thoughts: we never wait too long, they make the time to answer our questions and ensure we understand what's going on with our dogs, and the staff has been very accommodating as far as scheduling goes. Dr. Taylor and his team will take full advantage of gaining as much money as possible from you. They never once reviewed any costs with me before they went ahead and did the tests, and then to my surprise was slapped with an outrageous bills. I would have an average charge around $650 per visit. They give you no options for your animals and sneak in tests that were never originally discussed. They have also given my dog an antibiotic shot verses the pill form which was $100 more then the pills. I have an elderly dog that has had horrible skin and health issues on and off for the last couple years and they have squeezed every penny possible from me. It's heartbreaking to watch your poor animal go through such pain and you hope that your in good hands with your veterinarian.. Not the case with Highland Eldorado Veterinary Hospital. Something that has always been important to me is how veterinarians treat you when your pet dies. Our dog was treated by Dr. Taylor. I do believe he made the correct diagnosis, but unfortunately our dog's condition was too far advanced and she went into crisis and had to be euthanized by Dr. Taylor. We were so upset at her passing, yet we did not receive any kind of sympathy or remembrance. We've had many animals over the years and have had several euthanized, but this is the first time that we have not received a card, memorial donation, or SOMETHING from the treating veterinarian. If this is not important to you, then you may be satisfied with this business. Our dog deserved to be remembered and the uncaring attitude only added to our sadness. Read Less

Dr Taylor is an amazing vet and person. He's also a Christian. You can see it in his demeanor and his love of animals. Our dog Bugsy lost mobility in his back legs. Dr Taylor checked him over and told us he had a ruptured disc and it was pressing on his spine. Bugsy was kept there. At first we thought we'd have to put him down. But Dr Taylor suggested a wheelchair. We were so excited that we had an alternative solution to letting him go. Because of Dr Taylor's and his staffs care, Bugsy kept improving.
