Two weeks ago, our 15 year old dachshund woke up in the middle of the night screaming in pain and unable to walk. In the morning we called our vet, and we were devastated when our regular vet wouldn't make time to see us. I called Mckinney Animal Hospital and they told me to bring her right in. They were waiting for me and took her from me as soon as we got there to make her comfortable. They explained what they were doing, the tests they were performing, and looking for, and took the time to make sure I understood everything that was happening. When we made the hard decision that it was time to put her to sleep, they were very compassionate and empathetic; they were very loving to my sweet dog and compassionate to the hulking 300lb guy (me) sobbing like a child. A few days ago we received a nice card in the mail, signed by the staff, expressing sympathy for our loss. I am extremely satisfied with the care and love they showed my dog during her final hours. I don’t usually write reviews, but I had such a great experience that I felt it was necessary. I just moved into town and was looking for a new doctor for my dog. I had driven past the building a few times and finally decided to call and check them out. My call was almost immediately answered by a receptionist, I believe she said her name was Sam, and she was so helpful in answering my questions and helping me set up an appointment. After I came in I was suprised to see a smiling face that I had talked to on the phone and felt welcomed instantly. The rest of the staff, doctor (Dr. Lindsay West) and nurse (Shannon I think) took excellent care of my pup without any complaints. First of all. I have been taking my dog for grooming, boarding and check ups for years. The grooming services is wonderful and sweet gals keep me coming back because of them!. Boarding is average. BUT Unfortunately, Im fed up with the non caring COLD attitudes of several people of the front office and technicians. Today was my last straw! Enough is enough!! Been putting up with this issue for along time. There have been several times when I call the office before coming in and then show up to be told its going to be more money. I work and don’t have time for their shenanigans!! I will never go back again!! I’ve said this to myself many times before but not going back this time for sure. No follow up call will change my mind on this issue. A little to late. Both the person at the front desk and technician had bad attitudes today. Robots! What happened to understanding and being friendly? Its to bad the owner wasn’t there to see how I was treated. My continued comment that I wanted to be there in person for my dogs exam lead to Her response of “that I could do face time with the vet”. Really? I could explain more about all of my issues but it is not worth any more of my time. Always hit or miss on who your going to get when you come in to their office. You can’t tell me that the head of the office doesn’t know there is an attitude adjustment needed in their office. Just look at some of the reviews below.... they also state they were treated rudely by the front office. What a surprise!!!! The only reason they got one star was because I couldn’t complete review with choosing one star. They would have gotten a big ZERO!! We just brought our brand new golden doodle, Wally, here for his first visit. We were instantly greeted and went in shortly after arrival. We were met by Nicole who examined him and gave us a TON of information and pamphlets to help us make Wally stay in the best health for his breed. Then Dr.Bloomer came in and boy oh boy, we felt right at home. He is genuine and helpful and really cares. We are in love with our new vet! Very lucky we accidentally chose them based on reviews like this. Dr Bloomer did the procedure to clean my cats teeth. It was determined before surgery that they might likely have to pull a few teeth. He ended up pulling one, but then called to tell me that my cat has a condition called stomatitis and tooth resorption and needed more teeth pulled. He told me that with this condition it's imperative that no bone fragments be left behind when pulling the teeth so he recommended me to a dental specialist rather than attempting to do the procedure himself. I greatly appreciated that he did the best thing possible by referring me to a specialist. I have since had the procedure done with the specialist, who was also awesome, and my cat Willie ended up having a total of 10 teeth pulled. His prognosis is very good and he is back to his normal self again. Thank you for doing the right thing to help my special kitty! Read Less

You'll never find a more caring staff and well trained and knowledgeable veterinarians. Dr Bloomer is one of a kind and truly cares about my pets. I love how they communicate everything to me about services up front so no surprises at check out. They even have a grieving room to use if you have to say goodbye. Cannot say enough good things about McKinney Animal Hospital!  We recently had to have a growth removed on our dogs paw and everything went great! The staff was extremely helpful,  have is several options for removal and have checker on him several times already to make sure he's doing well. We've been to several vets over the past few years but this by far is the best!  So glad we found this place.  If you're in need of vet care,  grooming,  boarding,  etc....this is the place to go! After a traumatizing expensive ($1700) visit at the Emergency Animal Hospital of Collin County to discover our tiny 15week old puppy had ingested rat posion, we were sent to the McKinney Animal Hospital for follow-up care. Dr. Frye was tremendously compassionate and understanding as she explained that our puppy would need a blood transfusion in order to survive. She explained all of our options and even worked to get the cost down as low as possible. Unfortunately we still could not afford another $1000 for the procedure and had to make the gut wrenching decision to put her down. Dr. Frye was so understanding. She called later and said that the clinic would still like to do the procedure at their cost in order to save our puppies life. If it weren't for Dr. Frye, and the McKinney Animal Hospital, we would not have our puppy with us today! They are more than compassionate, they are God Sent Angels! McKinney Animal Hospital helped me through one of the worst days of my life. I won't go into too much detail, but I had to say goodbye to my min pin Maggie Mae, who I got two weeks out of college (over 10 years ago). I do not have children, and that puppy was my little angel. In fact, I'm not sure I will ever have a dog whom I bond with more tightly than I did with Maggie. The staff did their best to comfort me in an awful situation. I am thankful that Dr. Frey was willing to be honest with me about when it was time to let her go. Her advice took a huge burden off of me, and helped me avoid making a decision that would have been very difficult to make on my own.The entire staff was kind and empathetic, but the nurse Ellen was especially kind and caring. I think she cried along with me. I will take my other puppy Lola there any time she needs veterinary care in the future. Read Less

I have not had a pet treated here, but we recently found a baby pigeon in the middle of the road (under the 121 overpass!) and stopped by here for advice. Not knowing what to do we had moved the bird to the sidewalk, but when we returned the next day it was still there. We picked the bird up and stopped by the first vet we saw, which happened to be Mckinney Animal Hospital. Despite being in the middle of some type of training or workshop, a very nice young lady took the time to look at the fledgling and give us extremely good advice, easing my fears about  birds being rejected by their mothers once humans have touched them. She also gave us a number  to contact a bird rescue in case we had problems. I have had bad experiences with vets not wanting to help stray animals. This was not my experience at Mckinney Animal hospital; they actually cared and as a result the bird recovered and flew off free! Read Less

I have taken my furbabies to McKinney Animal Hospital for the past 14 years and will continue to do so as long as I live in McKinney...they have seen me through some rough times with some very sick pets and have also been very accommodating when needed. I would love to be able to find a vet for my dog that actually cares about the pet and not just our money. It's really ridiculous when your traveling into a mosquito infested area and my dog has never missed a heart worm preventative even one month. I keep her on them every month even winter and I wasn't even due to buy the next till April 14th 2016 say right on her chart. I call and they don't care at all. I have to get an anual exam to buy more tri-heart when she's never missed a single one even promised to come back and have the exam but my brother was in a serious accident almost died and we rushed to TN to be by his side and I wanted to pick up her preventative and all I got was no. That says enough. They do not care about anything but money. Sad! Now I will find another vet and she has missed her dose because I didn't have time to wait an hour when my brother was in critical condition and I had to rush to be with him. I am very disappointed in McKinney Animal Hospital at 4630 W. Eldorado Pkwy. I thought that was one place that wasn't like that but I was mistaken. Read Less

This Clinic is really, really good. It is well run, efficient and caring. The assistants who greet you are welcoming and ready to help. The Vets and Tech assistants are beyond reproach. They are extremely thorough and show a real love for what they do. Doctor Wise and Jennifer Anderson treated my Newfie and I cannot compliment them enough for the amount of time and effort they gave to resolving the issues. I highly recommend them.Read Less

I had such a pleasant experience with McKinney Animal Hospital today. Dr. West and staff are friendly, professional and extremely knowledgable. They loved on my pups and spent time educating me on their diagnosis and treatment options. They were so helpful and discussed everything from food to vaccines to surgeons and specialists.I have 2 Pomeranians and one has collapsing trachea and luxating patella. After being with family for Thanksgiving, my 4 yr old Pom had a coughing fit that required immediate attention  and MAH saw us same day and within the hour! They vaccinated my other Pom and made them both feel right at home. My pups loved Dr. West and this is the BEST experience they've ever had at a vet.  This is the first time I've left the vet feeling like I knew exactly what was going on with my girls and their treatment plan moving forward.My family has been taking their Lhasa here for 10 years and I'm so thankful to have found a vet that cares as much about my babies and their health as I do.I live in downtown Dallas and will be driving to McKinney from now on to treat my Poms at MAH!
