They are kind and caring to the animals but are very expensive.  When our lab was injured they treated him properly and lovingly. That said, they also informed us our dog tested positive for heart worms and needed expensive treatment (shots) or surgery which we could not afford. This was a shock since he seemed quite healthy. I took my older German Shepherd, who has arthritis, for an evaluation. I found Dr Michelle Quinn to be very knowledgeable. I was given a tour of the rehab section where Dr Q did a demo on my dog as to what she might expect during her treatments and to educate me. Dr Q  is going to customize a plan to her my dog to regain strength and stability. The office staff were very nice and their facility is going to be amazing for the rehab my dog. I went to Town East Galloway Animal Clinic on Friday due to my dog being extremely sick, I didn't know what was wrong with her as soon as I got there they took her back and ran some test on her and found that she had Parvo they were really sweet and helpful they gave me 2 treatment plans to cure her one was to leave her there and the other was at home care which was very inexpensive, I decided to take care of her at home and give her all the meds she needed, now she is feeling so good I was really afraid she was going to die because parvo is terminal for most dogs....And I received a follow up call and that was nice. A few years back my dog, Izzy, decided it would be a good idea to jump through a closed window to get to a dog walking on the other side. The crash of glass woke me up, and I came downstairs to trails and puddles of blood all over the floor. A large shard of glass had stabbed her in the chest. Warm sticky blood flooded from her body, and I knew there was no way she would survive. After a few moments of panic, we loaded her up into the car, and drove her to the nearest vet (the one I had always used up to that point). Once we got there, we found out that the Doctor was not in yet (and wouldn't be for another hour), and the technicians suggested trying Town-East Galloway Animal Clinic. When we arrived, they immediately took her to the back and began her life saving treatment. She had to undergo immediate surgery and blood transfusion (from such a loss of blood). They called me at home and gave me regular updates on her condition throughout the day. The second day, I was able to go see her. She was drugged up and hooked up to IVs, but she was alive. The third day, I was able to take her home. She was jumping up and excited, and you'd never know she was injured if she hadn't had bandages on her chest and legs (also cut up, but not nearly as serious). She had a drain put in and I had come back after a few weeks for the removal of sutures. Now, a few years later, her scars are healed perfectly, and you'd never know she went through such an ordeal. Ever since this incident, Town-East Galloway Animal Clinic has been my vet. I have gone to them for numerous reasons, including shots, heartworm tests, and a few times that she was sick. The staff is incredibly helpful. They will sit and answer 1000 questions about anything you don't understand. They are patient and kind, and you can tell they REALLY love animals. The price is right as well. It is on the lower side of cost, and they don't push things you don't need. I can't recommend this place enough, they saved my baby girl. Read Less

I have been going here for over 7 years. My last couple of visits. I have not recieved the care i expected. The staff is freindly, the place is clean. I just didn't get the care i felt my cat should of recieved. I am rewriting my review because my first was a little harsh. They called me, and tried to make things right. They are good people and are willing to listen if you have a problem. I have found the awsome vet named Dr. Josh who used to work there, and has his own practice. I will be going to him, but i wouldn't hesitate to go back in emergencies because they are closer to me and have always been there when needed. Read Less

I love this clinic, they are friendly to you and your pets. You go in and your pet is treated like a patient instead of just a number on their to do list. They have treats of all kinds for your pet to make them feel a little less scared. Both of my dogs were scared going in the first time but by the time we left they were wagging their tails and licking the vet and staff. Didn't wait long I set my appt for 10 and within a few minutes my pet was already being seen, and wonderful staff wonderful bedside matter...and only a 5 minute drive from my house...I had to end up putting my cat to sleep and everyone there was so comforting they made a bad experience a little more bearable, ty guys! Average animal clinic with normal high prices. Doctors are very professional. Receptionists are not very helpful and professional. I had appointment at 9:30am. Came there at 9:15am and somehow 5 people already were there and all in front of me... How this could happen? So I only could see my vet at 10:15 - whats the point for appointments? Charged me for something I dont need and when I asked to return money they said they couldn't and credit would be given next my visit. My next visit credit already expired... Again vets are very good doctors but receptionists should be trained better as they unfortunately create the image of the clinic. Read Less

I cannot say enough good things about this clinic and their doctors and staff. I have been using them for over 20 years and would not go anyplace else. Not only do they take exceptional care of my personal dogs, they also gave premium care to the 15 service dogs in training that I raised. I am now in rescue, and some of the cases that the clinic has treated have literally been on death's door. They have diagnosed issues that were overlooked at other clinics. They will research a problem and find the best treatment. And as the dog improves, the whole staff celebrates with the new health and life that the dog will now have thanks to the great care given. I joke that they must give a "nice test" to all of the staff before they are hired, because everyone there is exceptionally. I recently moved further away from the clinic, but I would drive 4 hours for the care they give to my dogs and those of the rescue. They are just the best! Read Less

Worst ever! This is the worst Clinic I have ever taken my animals to - they mixed up the test and ended up having to treat both dogs instead of one, charged for nails to be clipped and they weren't clipped, charged 4x as much as I was told for a teeth cleaning for one dog - then called to come get the second dog when only half through with teeth cleaning and sent home without any medicate for infection and now my dog is sick to say NOTHING for the rudeness of the so called doctor who cleaned the first dog's teeth. The Owners are sick and not taking charge of what is going on -- sympathetic but my dogs are suffering and they need to return half the money paid for the teeth cleaning which was almost $800! I've been a client here since 2005. The service I received today confirmed it was time to find a new pet clinic. The customer service has declined drastically over the years; the change in doctors, I LOVE DR. LEAKEY, change in techs, I LOVE LADONNA, has led to my frustration with the services my dog has received. I have a 4lb Chihuahua who was deemed an "aggressive" bread today and was charged $30 for a nail trim. When I inquired why the nail trim went from $14 to $30 I was lied to and simply told prices increased. I further inquired and asked for previous charges and was given the same $14 price. Finally when I noted today's service said nail trim II, where previous appointments were nail trim I, I was told she's aggressive and it takes two people to trim her nails. My problem is, I've been coming since 2005 and this has never occurred, did she suddenly become aggressive? Suddenly need "two" techs? In addition why wasn't this told to me prior? Why wasn't I informed, notified, made aware of a policy that per them has always been in place and I should've been paying this years ago. I'm not upset with the "policy" but the manner in which I was informed today. I was refunded a nail trim, but immediacy requested her records from Oct 2005 through today and will be on the hunt for a new vet. I refuse to pay such prices when you wait an hour for service with an appointment and ALL of the front area ladies are rude and incompetent. ...This was my first visit with this clinic, and it was excellent.  My cat had a minor scratch near her eye, and she was due for shots.  I was given an appointment for the next morning, so making an appointment was easy. ...The staff was attentive, friendly and courteous from the moment I came in and right through check-out. Remember to bring your vaccination records, as you will be asked. That's a good thing.  ...The facility was neat and clean.  I saw no smudges on the floorboards or dust bunnies anywhere, and it smelled clean.  ...The doctor was knowledgeable, but not pompous; providing a good diagnostic and treatment plan.  He and the technician were gentle with my cat, making her as comfortable as a cat can be at the vet's office. I never felt they "talked down" to me.   ...I did not feel pressured into treatments or testing unrelated to my visit.  At the same time, they made sure to offer me the basics, just in case I hadn't thought of it.  It was the right balance of being informative, without being pushy. ...I found the bill affordable, but this is not a non-profit for people down on their luck.  If you don't have the funds for basic care, there are plenty of low-cost out-reach programs.  You wouldn't walk into Macy's with a hard-luck story, demanding a discount, and it's not fair to do that to a vet. You go where you can afford to go. If you have the funds, this is an excellent place to pay for high-quality care. ...I have read other reviews that complain about the long wait, and I can see how that might be a problem when they get short-staffed or have too many emergencies at once.  I myself got in promptly, but this is a medical facility, so be prepared to wait, depending on the situation.  I could see they were already getting pretty busy on a Tuesday morning.  Make sure you have no other immediate plans, don't be in a big hurry, and bring a book or something - just in case.  But like I said, they got me right in.  And even if they hadn't, I would have no complaints.  Overall, I would recommend Town East-Galloway Animal Clinic to my friends and family, without hesitation! My pet had a minor injury, but due to not being able to see the cut, I took her in to be seen, thinking it would cost roughly $60 for exam and meds.Instead they pushed me to do heartworm testing and medication as somehow it was more important than the actual injury, and charged me over $200 for a simple puncture wound!  What was the bill beefed up with?  HEARTWORM TESTING AND MEDS!  They scare you into heartworm testing, the vet actually told my husband that 9 out of 10 dogs come in with heartworm problems, to which my old vet said that is an out right lie.  When I said I was a disabled housewife who couldn't afford it, the vet loaded a video that I was forced to watch.  I gave up and did he testing which came back negative.  When I confronted her on the heartworm push she proceeded to infer  How I could be negligent but had to sign a waiver of heartworm treatment, what!?I am not a fighter, and I have a hard time standing up for myself when I have someone who "knows better" saying "I am looking out for your pet, that is my only concern". Like her mother isn't?Not only was I taken advantage of, but I have done more research into heartworm and have found that it is quite unlikely for a dog that is only outside for her walk and to poop or pee to actually get heartworm.....why?  The circumstances have to be juuuust right and the dog has to be bitten in the same area multiple times, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME to read up on the truth about heartworms.Just like our RX industry they spread fear and shame that you aren't a good parent of you aren't giving them a low dose of poison every month for something that might not happen.That's right, it isn't a preventative, it is a low level toxin that kills any small larvae...would you take poison every month to prevent from getting sick?  No I would eat my veggies and exercise and hope for the best, having some theraflu just in case.But I walked home with a bag of meds I didn't need and a WEEKS PAY on my credit card.All because I was scared and too ashamed to say "stuff it, doc, we are going home"Fear isn't a way to keep patients!But that sounds a lot like almost everything these days, eh?  Sadly I will not use this vet again.  Twice burned, lesson learned.Other than that the staff is very nice, sadly I won't be back because I can't afford to pay for things we don't need. I won't take my dog to another vet. I highly recommend Dr. Decker. I was in for a visit about two weeks ago, and I was very anxious about my dog having a strange limp. She checked out the dog, did x rays, and further evaluated the dog. We spent a long while there, and she never took her full attention off of me or the dog. This is a person, folks. I love this vet with all I have.My old english sheepdog was diagnosed with Parvo (the deadliest disease) and the staff here did everything possible and more to save her. Not only did they do aggressive treatment on her, they helped me through it emotionally and financially.This was three years ago, and my dog is the healthiest happiest dog ever. According to statistics she shouldn't be alive. Words can't express how grateful I am.I don't understand why everyone doesn't give 5 stars but everyone is entitled to there opinion. They are really nice, but the wait is ridiculous. I waited thirty minutes before I was even called back to a room. Perhaps they overbook themselves or something to that sort. Either way, the wait time needs to change so that people can actually plan for the rest of their day & not spending unnecessary time at the vet waiting. I do like Dr. Joe and he has been nice to me and my dogs over the years...his wife, not so much.  When my 10 year old poodle had a stroke I was unemployed (not looking for a handout - I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars here over several years)  At that time I had to tell her I couldn't afford an MRI.  Her response was "well, if it's a matter of how LITTLE you can spend on this dog we can do aspirin therapy".  I could only wish I could have done that for him and will never forgive her for her callousness.My main beef has to do with waiting times which can be huge;  Perhaps it is because they're just trying too had to help too many pets, Read Less

This review is currently being written while I'm sitting in the waiting room of the clinic. I had a 10:30 appointment and it's currently 11:30 with no vet in sight. Today I simply came in to update my dogs vaccines. Seems simple right?! I guess not. I never wait less than an hour here to see a vet. The exam rooms are stifling hot and often dirty. I have had care given to my dogs by many of the vets here and they are all very nice people. The staff seems to lack any common courtesies like introducing oneself or explaining what's going on. I'm left for long periods of time with no one around to explain what's being done. Dr Shelly removed a tumor from my dog and they didn't wrap her leg to cover the sutures. They said it was too difficult a spot to wrap. So after my dog licked her sutures out and I wound up spending another 300 dollars I was mad. Please don't come here. Waste of time and inferior service. Find someplace better. I'm going to. Read Less

I took Benny for a wellness checkup and they did a decent job. The staff was friendly and they tested Benny for parasites. He got a shot but they made up for with lots of kisses and treats. I didn't really get any answers on why my dog is so skinny. He was treated for parasites as a precaution and they suggested ways to slow down his eating but I just don't feel satisfied. They gave me a bag full of information but most of it seemed to be brochures for flea and heartworm medicine that they want to sell me. I also started getting emails about it. I got a free sample but still prefer the drive to KCAAP in Crandall for wellness shots and medication because it's WAY cheaper. I will be back often though because KCAAP doesn't provide normal vet checkups or dental work and Pepper is due for a dental cleaning.Overall I was very happy with the service and the checkup with the shot and deworming meds only cost me $102. Words cannot express enough how much we love the doctors and staff at Town East Galloway Animal Clinic. From the very beginning, they've shown us and our pets the love and care they've needed. From the friendly smiles of the staff up front to the care of the animal hospital and groomers, these guys really do demonstrate they love animals. They have provided excellent health maintenance for our dogs, from regular checkups, immunization shots and even BETTER care with minor emergencies. The staff and doctors really showed their true dedication when helping us with our poor little Yorkie who was diagnosed with a potentially fatal liver shunt. Doctor Quinn worked tirelessly to help find out what the problem was and got us through critical moments with her.
