I hate this place. It’s way too expensive. They don’t care about saving those animals. They care about money. I couldn’t take my dying dog to them on Sunday, because they’re closed. This was a few years ago. Needless to say, he is dead. He actually died on the way there. But aside from that, my cat had bone cancer. I didn’t know. It was just a limp. She said he’d be fine. We couldn’t take X-rays because once again, they are far too expensive. Now I’m dealing with my cat dying because the mass has swelled up to the size of a tennis ball. It is literally eating his bones and his lungs. But they don’t care. They don’t have to deal with it. He could have been saved if it wasn’t so expensive to get one X-ray. The vet didn’t even think it was cancer. She said “Oh, here’s some painkillers he’ll be fine”. I’ve had this cat for over half of my life. I get to wake up now and think about how I’ll never hear that purr again in a matter of weeks. How I’ll never see those cute little white paws. How I’ll never feel his whiskers tickle my face when he lays next to me and cuddles me. Whoever works at tall city, just know I hate you. If you really cared about these animals you wouldn’t jack the price up so high that hardly anyone can go there. I hate you so, so much. I will be picking up my dogs records and finding a new vet clinic. Im not even worried about cost. The fact is, they don't have their stuff together. Use to you could walk in on saturday and be seen. One of the last times i went without an appt at 5:05, i walked in to put my name on the list and it wasn't there. They looked at me like i was supposed to know that they stopped taking patients at a certain time if they had too many. Then they changed the way they do saturdays, only accepting the first x # of patients. Fine! 2 problems with THAT. I was there a couple weekends ago at 7:30 with another vehicle. The website says they open at 8 am on Saturday. The door says 8:30. Whatever, so i wasted another 30 minutes of my day. No biggie except, when 8:30 rolled around and the doors didnt open, i called and was told theyre only open every other Saturday. For Gods sake, the least they could do is put a sign on the door saying theyre closed this Saturday. Or perhaps, a calendar? Maybe an update to the website? I used to come here with my dogs about two years ago but when I called to get a round about quote for a full round of shots and a spay for a cat I was treated extremely rude. Wouldn't give me any info until I told the guy on the phone my name and my last pets name on the account and still after that I was told they'll call me back with the info. I've called a-z and mesa and they had told me the round about quote for both the shots and spay. Guess it was a good decision to stop going to Tall City. Their staff used to be kind and respectful now after that I'm not so sure anymore. Also while I was on the phone with him he made a snarky comment on how the tv (which is on 15 volume and all the way across the house) was too loud even though in the room I was at I could barely hear it. Only gripe is that the doctor didn't do enough explaining. I was kind of in the dark as to how long it would take for my animal to get better, or what I should look for as signs of it getting worse. I took my dog to get shots and waited a good 20 minutes, only to be told that they no longer accept walk-ins. Keep in mind, these are only shots. I got several postcards and even a phone call reminding me to bring my dogs in for shots. There was ample opportunity to tell me of the policy change. I'm so upset l've been taking care of my daughter's 3yr old female pit bull for months. I saw her grow from a puppy. She had 3 litters in the last 2 yrs, she had 14 puppies in October 2016. I kept pushing my daughter to have her fixed so she would stop getting pregnant. So my daughter finally gave in. She had second thoughts last night, now I regret talking her onto the surgery. Our Mossa died while in your care. And all you can tell her is that you don't know why she died? Do an autopsy so it won't happen again. I've seen Vets preform autopsies on all kind of animals when there is a question about what caused the death. Now what are you going to do? Just cremate her body without knowing what went wrong? I have been going to Tall City for over 20 years with my pets. Loved Dr. Boyd, but since he has been gone this place has gone to crap!! Today I was turned away with an injured animal because I didn't have an appointment, for the 20 years I have used them I have never had to make an appointment, and was never notified that you now had to have one. Front desk staff is rude, and uncaring, wouldn't even ask the doctor to work her in, I requested my animals records and will never again step foot in that place!! I have been taking my dogs there for 20 years, I have spent a great deal of money at their vet clinic. My dog recently ran out of a prescription for bladder incontinence. I called the office to see if I could pick up a prescription refill they stated that since the new doctor took over I would have to bring my dog in for a new check up, no big deal except that it would be two weeks before I was able to get her in so I asked if they could please prescribe one pill due that she was out. I was told no. Being the type of medication it is my dog can't miss this prescription and therefore will have bladder leakage since they have sold Tall City. Since the take over it has went downhill I would not refer this company to anyone and I will continue to tell my experience to everyone I meet. Read Less

When Boyd stepped away and sold it started. Then the final straw was Hill and Chandler both gone. Dr. Boyd was our vet for over 25 years - so many of our beloved pets were treated by him. He is the best vet I've ever known. All good things must always come to an end and, of course, Dr. Boyd was going to eventually retire (or just do surgeries). Tall City Vet rapidly went way downhill when Dr. Boyd sold the practice. It is nothing like it was when Dr. Boyd was in charge. It is so sad that he worked all these years and has such a wonderful reputation and his clinic has turned out to be horrible. We have been taking our four dogs to Tall City for the past 10+ years with nothing major to complain about. I called today for an emergency visit and was told they would not see the dog because we did not have an appointment...How do you schedule an emergency visit? I was also told I could call back the next day between 11 and 1 to see if they maybe had something open up. Wow, what a huge change from the service we were used to receiving. I was able to make an appointment with another vet in town and needless to say I have no plans of returning to Tall City. I have been going to TCVH since 1999. It was at one time the best place to go. However, the doc in charge shouldn't be. If your baby is sick, good luck getting in & if you do, expect minimal care with a high price. My baby was spayed 2 weeks ago, been hospitalized 3 days a week later. Sent home because she ate. Wtf? Since Dr Boyd has been just doing surgeries and not involved in the business, it sucks. In all of the years we have been going there, and knowing Bobby personally, his business has been stripped of any good he built. From the moment you walk in the door, the front desk people are worse than trying to get help at Walmart. They stand there and talk to each other completely ignoring ALL of the customers and patients. Tall City vets are all about MONEY! Nothing about caring for the patients or the people paying. The front office staff was horrible, this was just a couple of months ago. The office and waiting area smells like urine and unclean. Really had no major issues with the vet herself but, calling to check on my dog after surgery was a headache, nobody knew anything and was told he would be kept over night and when I asked who was taking care of him I was told some guy who lives upstairs checks the animals before he goes to bed. Pretty sure he isn't a vet, and my dog has waited 15 hrs before surgery and didn't have water till late that evening. We've been going there for over 30 yrs. It use to be fantastic with Vets. and staff that really cared, especially with Dr. Erwin and Dr. Boyd. However, this past year it's really gone downhill. One of our dogs is on a prescription dog food for pancreatitis. I always drop by there the first week of the month to purchase his food. I went in this afternoon to pick up his food for the month. I was told they didn't have any on hand and that from now on I would have to order it online. I got home and jumped through the hoops of ordering his food and being charged for shipping to top it off. It's going to take 10 to 14 days to ship. He has a 4 day supply of food left at home. What is he suppose to eat to control his pancreatitis till this shipment shows up? If they were going to quit stocking prescription dog food, why was a letter not sent out over a month ago about this change and the date they would no longer stock these items. I have spent thousands of dollars with them, but no longer. I have found a much more professional provider. It sickens me that this practice has deteriorated as it has. I do wish Dr Chandler had her own practice she is an outstanding Doctor but I will not put up with mistreatment or rudeness/laziness from staff. I also brought a new rescue who was severely underweight and had him tested for worms, which was negative. Once I checked it at home he was infested with them. What kind of test is this??? We took our 3 year old bull mastiff in to Dr Chandler for surgery on a tumor. She went far and above all she could do for our boy as we found out he had cancer. We have used tall city for several years but this past experience was very disappointing. We picked up our dog after being spayed and after a couple of hours at home, her stitches came undone. I called and was put on hold, after 10 minutes of waiting, I finally got in the car to drive to the vet. Finally after almost 20 minutes, someone picked up the line and told me a vet wasn't there because it was lunch time. I asked her, "what am I supposed to do?" She said, "I don't know, you can come here and wait, I guess." The most disappointing part was the unprofessionalism of the staff. We were put in a room and told to wait till 1, it was 12:35. After 20 minutes, a woman came in, but turned her back to us, whispered to someone in the hallway, went straight to the computer, never even acknowledging us. I asked her if she was the vet and she sarcastically replied, "no, I just got here, I have no idea what's going." As a patient, I am of course concerned for my dog since the skin is hanging open, I can see the tissue underneath and I've been waiting, this was an incredibly rude response. She was uncaring and seemed put out to have to help us. After 10 more minutes the vet came in and I asked her, "if I had a true emergency at noon what am I to do?" She first had to remind me that she had to eat her lunch then said if it was a true emergency the staff would have called her. With 4-5 vets working there, why isn't there a rotation so that one is available at noon? They put staples in the skin and gave her a cone to wear, why wasn't this given to us to begin with? We are now back at the vet, waiting in line on a Saturday with 20 other people because even with the cone on her head, so she can't mess with the incision, the staples have come loose. I have been a customer for years. These are working vets. They work for a living and they work hard it. They put up with a lot from customers working to save their sick animals and its no joke. They do a lot and people know it why do you think they are so busy. Its not because of there good looks, their great smiles or because they dress to the nines. Those are just a plus, but its because they love their job and it shows. So these customers who are petty over ascinine things you can go somewhere else and let the real customers who need real help with their animals get the time they need. I found Tall City a few years ago and what a blessing that day was! I have used them every since once to save a rescue pup from parvo and they have actually had to do surgery on another one of my fur babies. Dr Boyd is the most caring compassionate vet that I have ever crossed paths with. his staff is well trained and very friendly .They have the cheapest rates I have found, as a single mom and 4 dog owner that is unfortunately the deciding factor in times of emergencies and Tall city has always been by far the best rates! I recommend them to everyone! DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE I would like to first start by saying. They cut my dogs ears unevenely. So. Now. My dobey not only has the completely WRONG ear style but one is noticeably shorter than the other. I dont know what monkey they had working back there but I literally went in 4 times (at their request, waiting almost 2 hours everytime and paying them Atleast 60 dollars a time) and discussed with the vet everytime, how they were to be cut. Size, length, bell, the whole 9 yards. Brough piTunes and physically showed them on the dog! And they're wrong! Who in their right mind gives a doberman pit bull styled ears!?!?!?! And then not even cut them evenly! !!!! ON TOP of that. Having the ears cropped is a procedure at best. It requires the ears be cleaned the environment be clean and sanitary. My dogs ears were not clean. How are you going to cut his ears up but not clean them first!? ALSO they have tried to charge me twice on several occasions. Because "their records did not show I was charged" TOUGH! My bank says I was and so does this receipt you gave me! Their vets seem to not care about anything but money. Do your research then go in and talk to them. They will lie to you freaking face if it means an extra buck. The ONLY thing I have to say semi nice about this infested rat nest. The little girls they have working their. Genuinely do care about the animals. My dog loved seeing them, and really looked forward to seeing them.
