The staff here is amazing, and they all seem to really, truly care about your pet. Every time I have gone with my dog, it has been clean, and it really feels like they treat my dog like family. I also love that they go out of their way to really figure out what’s going on, rather than just guessing (which has happened to me at other vets). I really can’t say enough good things about mission vet hospital. I can definitely see why they are always so busy! :) Read Less

Mission Vet Hospital has taken care of my furkids since 2004. They understand that my pets aren't just animals, they are members of my family and I expect the same level of care that I would get if I was taking my child to the pediatrician. They have consistently exceeded my expectations and continue to ensure that my fur-babies get the best care medicine has to offer. Sometimes they can be a bit busy, so anticipate a wait especially if you are a walk-in without an appointment. But once you are seen they take whatever time is needed to care for your family. Definitely worth the wait. Read Less

*Update below* If you love your pets, do NOT take them here! I have been faithfully going to this place for years. My dog had gotten the DHLPP vaccine and for the next 2 days, my dog would not eat and would only drink water. He walked strangely on 1 side (as a Nurse, I think they injected him wrong), he was vomiting, and became so weak. We took our dog early the 3rd day and they made us WAIT 2 hours because we didn't make an appointment! Seriously? My dog could be dying and they decided to do the routine checkups first!! They claim it was a "neurological disorder" and did not blame the vaccine. My dog was active and healthy the day of the vaccine and within 48 hours was very sick. How could it not be an adverse effect?! Not only that.... They charged us $275 for the follow-up checkup!! I wish I was making this up. You're just a dollar sign to them. They don't care about you or your pet. *Update: We have been working with Dr. Michelle Fuentes on his recovery. She's not the doc that gave the vaccine. We are thankful to have her. She is going out of her way to reach out to the vaccine manufacturer to help diagnose/treat and in helping with his recovery. She has been very accommodating with us and helps us to see this place in another light. Thanks Dr. Fuentes for working with us! Read Less

First time patient with paperwork filled out before arriving on time for a 3:30 appointment. I sat there with my cat locked in a cage for an hour before I realized so much time passed. Ten minutes after getting home the office called looking for her and I. I explained what happened and was not given an apology or any sympathy. It was no big deal for them and it is clear they do not care about their patients or customers. Read Less

I cannot speak to the quality of the car provided because I left, but the customer service was lousy. A guy named Rudy told me that walk ins were welcome, and that I would have to wait, but I waited for an hour and half and could not stay any longer. They should have simply told me that walk ins are looking at a 2 hour wait, and recommended an appointment time for a later date. At the very least, they can inform walk ins that the wait might be longer than an hour. I would think they can simply look at the appointments, current clientele waiting, and also base their assessment on prior history. Instead, he simply told me that some people have waited longer. That doesn't work. Not sure I'll go again, after moving into the area only a few months ago from Dallas. Read Less

For anyone who wants to know what happened to our baby Serena.  This is what happened : I took Serena in as an emergency on Sunday.  All the dogs managed to push the fence open and got out from the backyard.  We just taken them out to pee.  Well my son noticed right away they had gotten out so we went looking for them but unfortunately Serena had already gotten hit by a car.  We took her to Mission Vet Hospital were they have been patients since birth. Dr.  Fuentes and tech. Megan attended to her and told me she needed to be hospitalized for pain meds and observation.  That they were gonna run more test just to make sure everything was fine with her organs.  This was at 5pm.  Well they left to Alamo to do a service call on a horse and didn't get call me back till after 10 pm. And only because I call the emergency line again to inquire on Serena's results. Well Dr.  Fuentes called me and told me that everything was good and that she only had a broken pelvic that needed surgery but I could bring her home in the morning with pain meds and wait for the surgeon to call me with estimate and appointment.  That she couldn't get surgery until 5 days after trauma.  Well I trusted her and picked up Serena the next day.  We kept her in my son's room isolated from the rest of the dogs.  Followed all instructions for her care.  Tuesday I called them all day because they never called me with estimate and it wasn't ready yet. I told Linda office manager and Megan the tech. that Serena was in pain and wanted to take her to San Antonio or Corpus to get seen sooner.  They told me no that I had to wait 5 days before they could do anything. At 5 am Wed morning I heard my son yelling her name.  David and I run into his room and Serena was dying.  David tried giving her CPR but didn't work.  She died and there was nothing we could do to help.  Turns out they never did a sono on her and didn't check her stomach. Well turns out her stomach turned " that's what  Dr.  Fuentes guessed happened "!! Guess??  Wtf I paid $623 for her exams and they didn't fully check her!!  I had to wake my kids up at 5 am to drive her to the new house to bury her because we weren't leaving her behind.  She was coming home with us.  Used our cells flash light to dig a hole and bury our Serena. It has been very hard on all of us but especially on my son Dj.  She was his daughter.  Worked to give her everything she needed and spoil her to the core.  She was very loved . Now she is gone leaving our home with so much sadness. I had picked up Serena's medical records and a copy of her xrays on Tue morning because I wanted to get a different opinion in Mexico. That's how we discovered the sono was Never done.  I called them and spoke to Dr.  Fuentes and told her... her negligence caused my poor Serena to die.  They gave me my money back . We took our dogs to Mission Veterinary Hospital today for a 11:40AM appointment. We waited for over an hour and finally asked what was going on. Someone took us to an exam room where we wanted for another 15 minutes. Finally a technician came in and gave the dogs a very superficial exam and we never did see a vet. This was the second visit to this hospital and the first visit was just as frustrating in that we had to wait at least an hour past our appointment time. Another time we called the hospital with a major problem with one of our dogs (he had severe cornea burns from a new shampoo used at the groomer) and wanted to know if we could see a vet. We were told they could take no more walk-ins that day but could schedule an appointment the following week! Totally not caring that our dog was really suffering. Ridiculous! We took the dog to another hospital. In talking to the technician, we were told that they take walk-ins throughout the day and fit them in. Obviously they fit them in over the people that have scheduled appointments. So, making an appointment has been useless for us. This is a very poorly run animal hospital. Very disappointing after having been associated with animal hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over 40 years that were caring and efficient. We NEVER waited more than 15-20 minutes for the APPOINTMENT and received excellent care for our pets. Read Less

Took my cat for some spaying, after the operation I was prescribed some Sentry Puurscriptions for her monthly flea treatment. BEWARE!!!That stuff is pure poison for cats and dogs. After treatment my cat was experiencing what appeared to be seizures and is currently in the hospital recovering, from the toxic effects related to Sentry brand products. While my angel was fighting for her life I read about Sentry products online and was horrified that my experience was not unique. A lot of pets either died from complications or suffered permanent neurological damage. Please take time to visit the Consumer Affairs website and see for yourself. Doctors at the hospital were even surprised that that poison is still made much less prescribed. Doctors recommended paying the extra expense and using the Revolution brand monthly flea treatment. Has been proven safe even at higher doses. Bottom line I was very very disappointed with Mission Veterinary Hospital for even prescribing this product. In my opinion this was just plain negligence. Hopefully my angel survives this ordeal with little to no permanent damage. Read Less

I would just like to take the time to thank the staff of MVH for helping me and my two pups out so much. I took them in after they had been itchy and had diarrhea and the doctors immediately found the problem for both issues. Every member of the staff is friendly and knowledgable any questions I had they made me feel safe and secure with the answers. I really love their approach to informing everyone about veterinary medicine. I left their clinic feeling like a better pet owner :) Read Less

Love them! Just love them! They are so sweet, caring, compassionate, and really good at what they do. Every vet there goes above and beyond to help their patients heal and they do it with a level of compassionate that is so heart-warming. I have trusted them with my pets for years and will continue to do so. They truly understand the bond between a human and their fur baby. They have the skill, experience and expertise to help our pets live longer, healthy lives, or, in the case of my sweet Kippy, die with dignity. I'm so grateful for them. Read Less

Great service from the vet and techs in regards to my pet but very inconsistent with procedures, particularly with payments and rx. My mother did not have enough money to cover the $500 down payment to save her dog, so I paid it over the phone, no problem, no issues, I was happy to do it. Then my mother went back with another pet sometime later and they wouldn't take my payment of $50. Said they weren't allowed to take payments over the phone. When I told them about the previous payment they stated that my payment should have never been taken. They gave me some explanation that it was for my own protection but my payment determined the outcome of my mother's dog. Were they going to let him die because she didn't have enough money or that they wouldn't take my payment? I would hate to think they would do that. We order our meds online because it is easier to have it shipped to us, since we do not live in mission. Her dog was given a RX and I have ordered it from the website about 3-4 times already. All of a sudden they refused to fax the RX and are requiring my mother to drive 1.5 hrs to pick up the paper RX. I asked if they could fax the RX to the website or to email it to me and would do it and they replied no, they don't do such things. If they don't do such things, how was I able to order the rx in the first place and then order 3 more times after that? Again they have provided excellent service with animals but their people relations are lacking. They don't understand that my mother lives 1.5 hrs away and that I live in another state and can't just go pick up a paper RX at the drop of a hat and if I'm willing to pay for an emergency procedure they should be willing to do what is necessary to save the animal at hand. Its just extremely disheartening how difficult they are to work with. Read Less

As new Winter Texans, our Cat developed pain in her "Fanny Glands" and quickly needed to see a Vet. We found Mission Vet Hosp on Google and they were very near us since we are in Lemon Tree RV park. Both the Vet Tech and the Vet were absolutely outstanding!!! They knew what to do right away and were both very knowledgeable and considerate with us and out pet. We highly recommend this Vet Clinic. My husband and I have brought our cats (one now deceased) for many years. Our remaining cat has chronic health problems. Dr. d'bruyn has given him wonderful care. When I have a question or need to update her, she takes the time to call me to discuss his care. Dr. Heflin has been wonderful, as well as the other vets we've seen on rare occasion. The techs are super as well as those who work at the front and administration. I hope I didn't forget anyone, since all are kind, helpful, and caring. I highly recommend MVH! Read Less

For anyone who wants to know what happened to our baby Serena.  This is what happened : I took Serena in as an emergency on Sunday.  All the dogs managed to push the fence open and got out from the backyard.  We just taken them out to pee.  Well my son noticed right away they had gotten out so we went looking for them but unfortunately Serena had already gotten hit by a car.  We took her to Mission Vet Hospital were they have been patients since birth. Dr.  Fuentes and tech. Megan attended to her and told me she needed to be hospitalized for pain meds and observation.  That they were gonna run more test just to make sure everything was fine with her organs.  This was at 5pm.  Well they left to Alamo to do a service call on a horse and didn't get call me back till after 10 pm. And only because I call the emergency line again to inquire on Serena's results. Well Dr.  Fuentes called me and told me that everything was good and that she only had a broken pelvic that needed surgery but I could bring her home in the morning with pain meds and wait for the surgeon to call me with estimate and appointment.  That she couldn't get surgery until 5 days after trauma.  Well I trusted her and picked up Serena the next day.  We kept her in my son's room isolated from the rest of the dogs.  Followed all instructions for her care.  Tuesday I called them all day because they never called me with estimate and it wasn't ready yet. I told Linda office manager and Megan the tech. that Serena was in pain and wanted to take her to San Antonio or Corpus to get seen sooner.  They told me no that I had to wait 5 days before they could do anything. At 5 am Wed morning I heard my son yelling her name.  David and I run into his room and Serena was dying.  David tried giving her CPR but didn't work.  She died and there was nothing we could do to help.  Turns out they never did a sono on her and didn't check her stomach. Well turns out her stomach turned " that's what  Dr.  Fuentes guessed happened "!! Guess??  Wtf I paid $623 for her exams and they didn't fully check her!!  I had to wake my kids up at 5 am to drive her to the new house to bury her because we weren't leaving her behind.  She was coming home with us.  Used our cells flash light to dig a hole and bury our Serena. It has been very hard on all of us but especially on my son Dj.  She was his daughter.  Worked to give her everything she needed and spoil her to the core.  She was very loved . Now she is gone leaving our home with so much sadness. I had picked up Serena's medical records and a copy of her xrays on Tue morning because I wanted to get a different opinion in Mexico. That's how we discovered the sono was Never done.  I called them and spoke to Dr.  Fuentes and told her... her negligence caused my poor Serena to die.  They gave me my money back . We took our dogs to Mission Veterinary Hospital today for a 11:40AM appointment. We waited for over an hour and finally asked what was going on. Someone took us to an exam room where we wanted for another 15 minutes. Finally a technician came in and gave the dogs a very superficial exam and we never did see a vet. This was the second visit to this hospital and the first visit was just as frustrating in that we had to wait at least an hour past our appointment time. Another time we called the hospital with a major problem with one of our dogs (he had severe cornea burns from a new shampoo used at the groomer) and wanted to know if we could see a vet. We were told they could take no more walk-ins that day but could schedule an appointment the following week! Totally not caring that our dog was really suffering. Ridiculous! We took the dog to another hospital. In talking to the technician, we were told that they take walk-ins throughout the day and fit them in. Obviously they fit them in over the people that have scheduled appointments. So, making an appointment has been useless for us. This is a very poorly run animal hospital. Very disappointing after having been associated with animal hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for over 40 years that were caring and efficient. We NEVER waited more than 15-20 minutes for the APPOINTMENT and received excellent care for our pets. Read Less

Took my cat for some spaying, after the operation I was prescribed some Sentry Puurscriptions for her monthly flea treatment. BEWARE!!!That stuff is pure poison for cats and dogs. After treatment my cat was experiencing what appeared to be seizures and is currently in the hospital recovering, from the toxic effects related to Sentry brand products. While my angel was fighting for her life I read about Sentry products online and was horrified that my experience was not unique. A lot of pets either died from complications or suffered permanent neurological damage. Please take time to visit the Consumer Affairs website and see for yourself. Doctors at the hospital were even surprised that that poison is still made much less prescribed. Doctors recommended paying the extra expense and using the Revolution brand monthly flea treatment. Has been proven safe even at higher doses. Bottom line I was very very disappointed with Mission Veterinary Hospital for even prescribing this product. In my opinion this was just plain negligence. Hopefully my angel survives this ordeal with little to no permanent damage. Read Less

I would just like to take the time to thank the staff of MVH for helping me and my two pups out so much. I took them in after they had been itchy and had diarrhea and the doctors immediately found the problem for both issues. Every member of the staff is friendly and knowledgable any questions I had they made me feel safe and secure with the answers. Love them! Just love them! They are so sweet, caring, compassionate, and really good at what they do. Every vet there goes above and beyond to help their patients heal and they do it with a level of compassionate that is so heart-warming. I have trusted them with my pets for years and will continue to do so. They truly understand the bond between a human and their fur baby. Great service from the vet and techs in regards to my pet but very inconsistent with procedures, particularly with payments and rx. My mother did not have enough money to cover the $500 down payment to save her dog, so I paid it over the phone, no problem, no issues, I was happy to do it. Then my mother went back with another pet sometime later and they wouldn't take my payment of $50. Said they weren't allowed to take payments over the phone. When I told them about the previous payment they stated that my payment should have never been taken. They gave me some explanation that it was for my own protection but my payment determined the outcome of my mother's dog. Were they going to let him die because she didn't have enough money or that they wouldn't take my payment? I would hate to think they would do that. We order our meds online because it is easier to have it shipped to us, since we do not live in mission. Her dog was given a RX and I have ordered it from the website about 3-4 times already. All of a sudden they refused to fax the RX and are requiring my mother to drive 1.5 hrs to pick up the paper RX. I asked if they could fax the RX to the website or to email it to me and would do it and they replied no, they don't do such things. If they don't do such things, how was I able to order the rx in the first place and then order 3 more times after that? Again they have provided excellent service with animals but their people relations are lacking. They don't understand that my mother lives 1.5 hrs away and that I live in another state and can't just go pick up a paper RX at the drop of a hat and if I'm willing to pay for an emergency procedure they should be willing to do what is necessary to save the animal at hand. Its just extremely disheartening how difficult they are to work with. Read Less

Both the Vet Tech and the Vet were absolutely outstanding!!! They knew what to do right away and were both very knowledgeable and considerate with us and out pet. We highly recommend this Vet Clinic. My husband and I have brought our cats (one now deceased) for many years. Our remaining cat has chronic health problems. Dr. d'bruyn has given him wonderful care. When I have a question or need to update her, she takes the time to call me to discuss his care. Dr. Heflin has been wonderful, as well as the other vets we've seen on rare occasion. The techs are super as well as those who work at the front and administration. I hope I didn't forget anyone, since all are kind, helpful, and caring. I highly recommend MVH! Read Less
