My dog had several health concerns (as he is of old age), and Dr. Jacob was exceptionally friendly, kind, and knowledgeable on all of our concerns regarding my dogs overall health and wellness. He gave my dog a thorough exam, and addressed all of the issues he thought my dog had. The vet tech and himself were extremely patient and caring towards my dog throughout the entire process. He then made us aware of the price of additional exams to address the immediate concerns, and then prescribed medicine as needed. Throughout the visit, Dr. Jacobs made us aware of everything he was doing and the improvements we should see in my dog's health concerns. Dr. Jacob is undoubtedly a  passionate, exceptional, ideal veterinarian, that I would recommend to anyone who has a pet. The place is well kept with friendly staff. I don't have a single negative thing to say about this veterinary clinic. However, get ready to spend a pretty penny if you decide to take your pet here. My total bill for a urinalysis, heart worm exam, fecal exam, flea medication, heart worm prevention medication, antibiotic to prevent itchiness, and an antibiotic for a UTI was $278. My family and I have been bringing our dogs here for years and it is just the best! I adore Dr. Jacob and Dr. Dobson- they are both always so friendly, kind, patient, and knowledgeable. We worked with Dr. Jacob when we had to put one of our dogs down a few years ago and he made that painful experience as pleasant as possible- very understanding and helpful. One time at a visit with Dr. Dobson, I was concerned about a snake I saw in my yard and he took the time out to describe/draw out the common physical features of poisonous vs. nonpoisonous snakes. Over the years I have had so many pleasant experiences with these two doctors to the point where I'll only book with either of them! They are incredible. I recently started getting my poodle mix groomed here and the groomers are excellent! You can tell that they all love what they do and are great at it. My pup is a demon when it comes to grooming but they're somehow able to do it anyway and get him looking like a cute fluffy teddy bear each time! The front staff/vet techs are also very kind and you can tell that everyone who works there loves animals. In short, I 110% recommend this business for both veterinary care and grooming services. Not going back. The only pleasant experience was talking to one staff member on the phone to set up first appointment. I should have turned around and left the minute I was addressed as "Mr." after walking through the door. (I am clearly a woman). Here are my experiences at this office: * Waited 30 mins past appointment time each visit * Not provide an exam room upon arrival, so animals become stressed waiting in lobby while they are running behind schedule * Asked for a vaccine twice for my dog and showed the historical records- yet my dog never received the vaccine and the office never told me they were not administering it. Had to return another day to get it and was told that the records were "confusing " - Dr Wall was their assigned vet and I was told part owner, if I am NOT a Vet and can see what was due by reading the records- how was she (supposedly a vet) confused reading shot records????? That is concerning. It would have been nice to get an apology for this mishap, which could have caused an issue boarding. Thankfully my dog still had 2 weeks left under his prior shot and the boarding facility accepted his old records...which, by the way, the boarding facility was not confused by. Still shocked the vet at this place was "confused" by my vaccine records. They did come from 2 prior years due to shots expiring at different times, BUT its not like reading vaccine records is rocket science...and isn't that part of a vet's job???? She is a vet for Pete's sake!! * They do not administer shots in the exam room like most vets, they take the pets out. So the next visit I asked to be present to avoid incorrect administration/ missing shots - and the person (vet tech, I think) was very rude and acted quite rushed (ironic she was rushed since I waited a half hour for her- would think she would have time for us when we were finally seen). She did allow me to be present, albeit with the attitude. * Very little interaction with the actual vet, vet techs perform most of the services. The short time with the vet, she spent more time asking about my personal life than about my dogs. Where I moved from (apparently she picked up that little nugget of info from the "confusing " records), if I liked the area because it is very "suburban "- why wouldn't I like a suburban area?? On and on, Blah blah blah while palpating my dog...I really wanted to say- ummmm- focus lady!!! Then that was it, she was out and I was thrown back into the hands of frenzied vet techs. * sigh * Quite honestly I am shocked this place has decent reviews. I almost wasn't going to write one myself, and just move on from this place without looking back. It was just such a cluster-*mess that I felt it should be shared. I am very particular about my pets' health and so far, all the veterinarians we have been to have either charged low prices but with average service, or great service, but were very expensive. Lake Olympia is by far the best veterinary practices we have been to, without having to spend a ton of money! Clean, spacious waiting area, and very courteous front desk staff. I got a same-day appointment for my dog and was seen by Dr. Brode. She was just fantastic! She really spent time listening to my concerns, I never felt rushed or hurried. Very thorough with her examination and wonderful bedside manner. What impressed me the most was that she was very proactive, I really felt like she cared about us and the health of our pets. I have a pitbull/lab mix. She is not a friendly girl. Especially when she is scared. Dr. Remarkable treated her for eating a scarf. She had to muzzle my baby for a bit, but by the end of the visit it was off and Nala was loving Dr. Remark. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I've taken my dog here at least 3 times now and we are always greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The vets are very friendly and very professional. I made an appointment to have my dog's teeth cleaned due to heavy plaque and his procedure involved anesthesia. The whole procedure took about 4 hours and everything went smoothly. This practice is by far the best we have experienced with the veterinarian care for our cats. We recently had to let go of one of our beloved felines after a tough fight with IBD, and despite the outcome, we were impressed by the level of care that Lake Olympia provided. For over six months, I spoke with nearly every vet there because I would call with questions or concerns about changing symptoms and they would find someone to speak with me directly if the primary care vet was not on shift. They ran every test possible until a diagnosis was confirmed and helped us through multiple treatments until we felt it was right to discuss other options, which they did with the utmost care, patience, and sympathy. At one point three vets were working together on her case to monitor her progress and symptoms. When we decided to euthanize, they were passionate and made the process as minimally stressful as they could--even the front staff was patient and compassionate during that time.Five months later, our younger cat developed similar symptoms. We took her to a new vet since we had moved and were greatly disappointed with the level of detail and care. When we realized they had not done a full examination and blood work, we called Lake Olympia. They got us in fast the same day, did a full workup, and diagnosed a similar condition within two hours. We left with new medication and our cat recovered within 48 hours. Had we not sought their expertise, we were advised that our cat likely wouldn't have recovered without further treatment and would have continued to deteriorate. As a result, we still drive 45 minutes across town while searching for a comparable level of care in southeast Houston.As a person who considers my cats part of the family, I cannot recommend this practice enough. My dogs have been patients of Dr. Dobson, Dr. Jacob, Dr. Wall and Dr. Remark for years. One of my dogs just had an orthopedic surgery that was overseen by Dr. Brode and Dr. Wall. They went over and beyond what I ever imagined. My dogs are currently all patients of Dr. Wall but I would not hesitate to see any of the other Veterinarians if she was not available. I completely trust them with my babies. Their new building and all of the services they offer are just amazing. Their office staff are all so sweet and of course their Technicians rock. All the nurses and staffs are friendly and helpful. The place is well equipped. We started taking a baby there about 2 years ago. She has always had a growth on her hind leg, I asked several vets what it was and I always got the same answer, nothing. We asked them and they told us it was cancer. She has surgery the next week, we sent her labs out and she just got a clean bill of health. I, unfortunately am one of these people, that can talk and talk and talk. I spoke to several people on the phone each time 15-30 minutes. I know they are busy, yet they always seem to make the time! We had an excellent first visit after utilizing YELP to find this clinic. I had to do a little shuffling due to my work schedule, but Claire was very gracious and helpful as she helped me find a time that worked. The vet assistant was really amazing -- very knowledgeable and shared great information. (I wish I could remember her name - I'm horrible at names.) Dr. Brode took an aggressive approach, which was needed, for my dog's UTI and chronic ear infections. After three days on the antibiotic, there is a huge difference in Shorty's demeanor and you can tell he just plain feels better. Dr. Brode is extremely capable and knowledgeable. We go back in two weeks for a recheck. The free office consultation for the first visit was real and legit -- and much appreciated! 5-star service and 5-star professionalism!  When my pets get sick, I get extremely worried and nervous.  So, my poor baby got intoxicated by "sago palms" and became very sick, puking everywhere, so I took him in for treatment.  The vet said the toxic might have damaged his liver but he had to be hospitalized for a couple of days.  The estimate runs from $1,460 to $2,650, which sounds reasonable, knowing the fact that vet service can be very expensive.  Thank God that the Lake Olympia Animal Hospital is located right around the corner like just one mile away from my home *phew* I feel like i have lucked out by having an animal hospital in such close proximity! I'm sure this place provides excellent service because business is so busy!  While waiting in the waiting room for almost 1.5 hours (it was an unexpected incident so my baby boy and I just walked in and had no appointment made) I'd seen a lot of people with their beloved pets come in for all kinds of different services and everyone walked out happily and healthily.  All staff and the vets are friendly, helpful and professional!Remember this, folks! My boyfriend and I bought a puppy from Petland in Missouri City and to keep our warranty from going void we had to take her to Petland's Vet within four days of the purchase. This is why we went to Lake Olympia pet hospital. First visit, they screwed up the appointment and wrote down the wrong day and would not squeeze us in to accomodate us AND our warranty with Petland until several phone calls and complaints were made. Second and third visit was the same, but what really upset me was that at the third visit, the groomer that works there screwed up our morning appointment to get her groomed before her afternoon appt. to see the Vet and get her shots, and then the vet-tech. gave my puppy her shots before we got to see her after the grooming-which we had repeatedly asked them not to do because we wanted to talk to the vet ABOUT the shots before we gave them. All in all, the Vet was decent but the technicians and front desk staff are all idiots. I will not take my dog there again! Read Less
