DON'T BE SCAMMED! Just moved from a dry desert climate and my dog started making weird hacking noises that he had not previously made in the 7 years I have had him. Took him in and they wanted to run every test under the sun to rack up a bill. Took him to another vet in the area and they said it was most likely "backwards sneezing" which is basically an allergy thing. Walked out with an exam charge and the correct dosing for Benadryl and my dog is no longer making those sounds and I did not rack up a huge useless bill!!! Read Less

I originally found this place when my puppy had a bad reaction to her lepto shot and they were the only vet with late hours. I'm so glad I found them!! I called ahead and when I got there they took Heidi straight back to take care of her, no wait. Fast forward 4 months and Heidi has a hernia that needs emergency surgery. We had to take her to an emergency place for surgery that they referred us to, but they took care of her all day afterwards and we just got back from our one week follow-up. They take wonderful care of my little girl and you can really tell how much they care about pets, from the front desk to the vets. Plus they are a third of the price that I have paid at other vets. Don’t waste your time. I took my dog here for over a year. I was there probably six times and was assigned a different vet each time. It’s extremely chaotic and disorganized. There were long waits every time. Once I waited for over an hour to see a vet because the tech forgot I was in the room waiting. Every time they said she had allergies and that was causing the itching and her swollen feet. Finally, I came to my senses and took my dog to a different vet who took one look at her and said it was yeast on her paws. We are on a raw diet and treating for yeast...not allergies. I loved this place! Dr. Muhoho was so caring you can tell she loves her profession she explained everything well at the time of our visit. Seriously some of the kindest people I've ever met. I, like most people, love my fluffy babies sooo much that I feel I'm constantly handing them to strangers when I can't help them. But not here. This staff genuinely cares about each and every animal that they see. My two roommates also take their pets here, and when one of my roommates had to put down her best friend, the whole staff mourned with us. These are people who are amazing at taking care of animals, and I know when I bring my babies here, they will treat them like their own. Absolutely awful place. They routinely overcharge for basic medicine and just because I went to another vet for advanced surgery, they emailed me informing it was in their 'best interest to inactivate my account'. We are very disappointed with the service since they moved to a new office. Last year the staff made a mistake with our dog's dental cleaning appointment & they also scheduled the wrong pet for an appointment. Recently we paid to have our cat cremated through them. The staff was very unorganized about the whole process. Finally, we called and the staff member lied to cover up their mistake. They were very unprofessional when we asked for an explanation.We feel the staff is so unorganized it's disturbing to think of leaving our pets with them. I prefer the personal and caring service we received back when Dr. Carbonell was located near 14th Street and Shiloh Rd. Yes, the old clinic was small and nowhere near as fancy as the new location is now, but after 10+ years I will be taking my business elsewhere. I agree with previous reviews that the prices have skyrocketed and management seems to care more about making money than providing affordable care with excellent customer service. I, too, have had similar experiences of "sticker shock" because I was not advised in advance over the phone about specific add-on fees or was unaware of sudden price increases from week to week or month to month. I am so saddened by my experience with this Vet. I had originally gone to see Hector Carbonell at the location off Los Rios and it was wonderful. Now that the place has moved, it all has been bad. The Doctor who originally saw my dog for having seizures, simply was really nice, but wasn't listening to anything I had to say. Then when I took him to get boarded, I was not told over the phone about certain fees I was being charged. I asked to speak with a doctor because of sensitive issues of my pet and concerns I had medically about leaving him - no one would come talk to me - then I was called on the way home that everything needed to be updated, which all cost more money. If I didn't have plans to go out of town, I would have turned my car around and gone straight to pick up my dog. I left there that day, feeling all they wanted was more money from me and had no desire, as if I was an inconvenience for asking to speak to a doctor....We won't be back! Money factory Read Less

Crazy over priced. My dog cut his leg open last year running around at the park. It ended up being stitched but this was the first location we came to, it being the closest to our home & the park. When I was told that it was going to be hundreds of dollars just to stitch him up, I told them no thanks, fix your pricing & walked out. Ended up going to Richardson. Very poor management. I took my pet to be groomed there for several times. Each time he came back looking horrible, but I never complained. The last time I took him they called me because they could not finish him. I did not complain a bit. They asked me to bring my pet next day to continue the grooming. Then I I went to pick him up they told me that he was too hard to do the grooming and they were going to close my account so he would not come back there. I did not complain, but 3 days later they closed my entire account and do not even want the pet to be seeing by the vet!! That is a horrible place!!! Read Less

Overpriced and run expensive tests for the sake of running them. They charged me $600 to diagnose my cat with... constipation. I brought my dog Jack to EPMPH because I was not happy with the treatment we had received from our former vet. I was so impressed by the service and care we received. On our very first visit Dr. Paul personally called me after she examined Jack, when I came to pick him up that evening she sat with me and went over all of her findings, she was thorough and let me ask questions. I never got the feeling that I was being rushed out. I was blown away! I had never received that kind of attention from our old vet. Dr. Carbonell, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Paul are incredible veterinarians, they are knowledgeable,  professional and so compassionate. Everyone on the staff is so nice and welcoming, one particular veterinary technician by the name of Nicole (love you Nicole) went above and beyond the call of duty for us. Jack became ill and stopped eating in early January. We were to start a regimen of meds to get him to eat and feeling better, we were then going pursue finding out what was wrong with him. Nicole knew I was very apprehensive about trying to get all those meds down Jack over the weekend, she gave me her personal cell phone number and told me to call her if I had any questions about Jack's care regimen. Again, blown away! She did NOT have to do that at all but she knew that I was very concerned about my baby boy. She was an angel to us through all of this. I told them we didn't want to get in debt trying to find out what was wrong with him then ultimately lose him anyway. They gave us some options we felt comfortable with but Jack had other plans, he was ready to go. He wouldn't take the meds, eat or drink and looked at me with those eyes that said "It's time for me to go Mom." We put him down on January 11th. My husband and I were completely destroyed, he was only 8 years old. Dr. Paul offered at no extra charge to us, to examine him post mortem to see what she could find because again we still didn't know the root cause of what was making Jack sick. She found he had cancer in his spleen and liver. Just knowing that gave us so much peace, to know we did the right thing for our sweet boy by letting him go. Dr. Johnson performed the procedure for us, she had tears in her eyes the entire time and hugged us so tight afterward. She is so awesome, they all are. True animal lovers! One of the most absolute low-down vet services I've experienced. Brought my pet in several times and wasted hundreds of dollars on their sub-par medical service. Caveat Emptor my friends.... My 9-year-old German Shepherd needed medical help. Triton is a big boy, and I have been having a hard time putting hint in the SUV, much less getting him back out. They were great and Triton enjoyed his stay. He is doing much better. Great staff and very nice facilities. Read Less

I will never trust anyone at this clinic with my pet ever again. They took my dog to the back and brought him back to me 30 minutes later and his mouth was all cut up and bleeding everywhere. Supposedly they said it was the muzzle they had to use, but we've muzzled our dog before with no issues. Horrible horrible horrible experience, and would not recommend anyone to take their pet here. Dr. C is great! Always makes plenty of time for us in our appointments, listens to my concerns and gives me clear reasons for his recommended treatment. So far he's done a great job with 2 of my 3 fur babies, will bring my last pet to him later this year. Building off Bobbi L's review - after being evicted from this practice on Thursday, I called the office 4 times Friday to request our records that migrated from Dr. McLaughlin's office and 4 times the office manager, Michelle found a reason to not talk to me. I sent an email over the weekend to say I would be there Mon after work to pick them up. I showed up and Michelle left the lobby to never be seen again. One by one the staff disappeared to the back with no explanation as to why I was not promptly given my records. 40 minutes later somebody was finally kind enough to ask again what I needed. It took almost an hour to get copies of records! It seems to me Dr. Carbonell fosters a culture of disdain and rude behavior towards customers that fail to stroke his ego. ***Attention all former Dr. McLaughlin clients*** Be advised that in my opinion, you will not receive the same quality of care you are used to from Dr. McLaughlin. I dropped my sick cat off on Monday & was given a "high end" estimate of $400.0 for her care. 2 hours later I received a phone call informing me I owed a deposit. The amount due? $400.00. There was no word the rest of the day about my cat, my husband received an email survey requesting feedback Tuesday morning. He replied with "no issues with the quality of care but was not happy with the intake & having to pay upfront " there was still no communication from the vet all of Tuesday & my husband called for an update that evening & he spoke to a vet who suggested a shot, he asked for the cost of the shot & was told it was $50.00. My husbands flippant response was " Well you've already fleeced me for 400 what is another 50?" Dr. Paul explained the reason for the shot & acknowledged that costs can quickly add up. We approved the cost & the call was ended amicably. On Tues night we we summoned to the hospital because the owner Dr. Hector Carbonell, had received the survey provided by my husband & wanted to discuss it. After a 30 talk we understand why the cat was ill & after we requested the amount of the ongoing cost we were satisfied when we left & anticipated no further issues. The practice of no communication from the office did continue for 2 additional days however & we called frequently for updates. We were asked to come back in to the office Thursday night under the premise that the cat was gravely ill & needed to be transferred to an animal hospital (keep in mind, the word hospital is in their name) we were then informed by Dr. Carbonell that he had been made aware of phone conversation between my husband & Dr. Paul that occurred on Tues where the word "fleeced" was used & his feelings were hurt. This vet kicked a sick animal out in the middle of treatment because he had his feelings hurt. He then warned us to be careful if we post a negative review on social media, as he "goes after" those people. This is the 1st negative review I've ever left specifically because of that comment. Our Max has been coming to the same vet since he was a puppy. We started going to their original location closer to home. Once they moved to this location we had to follow them. We have always been happy with how much the staff is so caring and how well they all do their job from the moment you check in. We don't board him at this location since we think it's more suitable to smaller dogs as their backyard is average home-size. Our dog is a German Shepherd and we like for him to be very active and running with his doggy friends when we are away. If we ever have a smaller pup we wouldn't hesitate on trying their boarding services. My puppy is healthy and in shape thanks to his vet! -one happy customer :) Read Less

Everyone at this clinic is incredibly kind. They provide wonderful service and always take such great care of my kitties. I never feel like they are trying to push a service my cats don't need, and if they do have a service they recommend, they are very clear on why they think it is important. My appointments are NEVER rushed, which is a big deal to me. Most of all, I appreciate how they came through for me during the Christmas season. When the boarding facility I usually used was booked, they took my cats in at the last minute and gave them a whole room to themselves!
